This place was pretty close to my house so I thought I would give it a try. Usually my favorite poke places are so far from me. This place is next to the freeway and it's in a plaza where Starbucks is. The place is very clean. This review is just for poke bowls but they do have other items like sushi rolls, soup, rice, etc I order the 2 scoops build your own bowl. This first thing I realize that I didn't like is that they don't mix the stuff with the sauce for you. They just start topping it over your base and I hate how I have to mix it. There portion size is pretty small and stingy and overall it was just mediocre because it wasn't mix and I tried mixing it I still got chunks of wasabi in my mouth or chunks of seaweed. I prefer a little every thing mix when I eat. Avocados is extra 50 cent. They also don't have limited toppings I felt like their was really little toppings to choose from. read more

I ordered for the first time here through uber eats. I don't wanna order again, the fish was insanely fishy, when you eat it, it smells really fishy and strong. One of the scoops I got was albacore, I don't know what was wrong with it but it looked and tasted very off, it was also like 5 pieces which were all smushed and formed into one block? (they were all stuck together and looked like they were pulled apart and smashed down). All the scoops were extremely tiny, given this is a Large, the box is big but it was just filled with rice and 20% fish, very disappointed on how tiny the scoops were given the price I payed. Tuna texture was weird, taste almost like it's still frozen and didn't have texture like typical raw fish. Salmon was extremely slimy, very very fishy and tasted bad. Spicy tuna was the only one that was okay but for some reason, very sour. TMI, I now have a really bad stomach ache and have been having diarrhea (I didn't eat anything else today!). Quick, fast, and mediocre. Co worker and I love poke so we decided to give it a try. Walked in during lunch and they practice 6 ft social distancing with masks. There was a short line when we arrived and we were in and out within 10 mins. I got the 2 choices with half salad, half white rice. Salmon and spicy tuna with cucumbers, seaweed salad, imitation crab with ponzu and spicy mayo Sriracha sauce with furikake. The 3 stars is based on the food. The portion was small. This place really is the bomb! This new restaurant is located in an outdoor strip-mall with easy parking in the lot out front. I visited this restaurant on a weekday for lunch with a coworker. It was my first time at a Poki bowl restaurant. I had never gone to one of these restaurants before because I'm a vegetarian and do not eat fish. Luckily, this place had tofu and Tamago. At the time of our visit, it was not crowded and seating and ordering at the counter was easy. There was no wait! We selected our size (by protein / fish scoop), selected our ingredients, and paid. The ingredients were fresh and the portion size was good. The older gentleman behind the counter assisted me as I made my selection. He was wonderful... very patient and helpful. Being my first time, I didn't realize how many toppings I could choose. The store was clean, modern, and comfortable. PB is a great place to grab a quick healthy bite! read more

Stopped by today and to my surprise. They have changed their menu. They only have poke. They have removed their sushi rolls and ramen from the menu. The new menu is limited and sucks and very disappointing. Not sure who told them getting rid of other options on the menu was a good idea, specially when the ingredients are all the same. Ordered through Uber Eats and I got my food in a very timely manner! Food came extra early. Everything was packaged neatly and i'm happy with what I received. Next time I would get less sauces with the poki bowl because although it tasted good, it was drowning in sauce. I wish they went lighter handed on the amount they put in if i'm ordering multiple sauces, but now I know! They were very generous with the toppings in my bowl and I especially like that the avocado was only 50 cents for real slices. Their shrimps are plump and juicy, and I also really like the tamago, squid salad, and seaweed salad/crab salad here. Got the crunch roll and caterpillar roll as well, and I liked the caterpillar roll more. Wouldn't get the crunch roll to-go just because it gets a little soggy but they were both yummy. As much as I love california rolls, I would suggest getting rolls that differ from each other more just because they taste almost the same haha! read more

Poki Bomb is a poke place in El Monte. They also have another location in Buena Park. Like most poke places, there are five steps which include choosing a size, base, sauce, and toppings. Besides fish, there are some meat options including beef, rib eye, chicken, white meat chicken, and beef & chicken. The beef and chicken options include teriyaki sauce. The fish options, bases, sauces, and toppings are similar to other poke places. They charge 50 cents for avocado. The rice was served hot which made the bowl warm rather quickly. The fish tasted alright. Large portions of the three scoops of fish. The three scoops of fish equated to five scoops at other poke places. The texture of the fish was spot on. The rice was clumpy and some parts were soft and some parts were hard. I'd prefer if the rice was sushi rice. There wasn't enough sauce on the fish which made it a bit bland. The imitation crab was very good as it had the right amount of mayo. Service was alright. The server stared and smiled but didn't ask what I wanted to order. So I went ahead and ordered. Once I told her what I wanted for the base, she then asked about the fish, sauce, and toppings. The fish was alright. I might be back to try their meat bowls. read more

Living in SGV area, there are a couple places that come to mind when you want Poke: PokeStuf, or Bay Poke. We decided to be adventurous and try this place for the first time. It's tucked away in a small plaza on the other side of the 10 freeway. This whole plaza looks like it has seen better days. The Starbucks seems to be the only place keeping this plaza alive. As for Poki Bomb, we got BYOB. Pretty standard, quality of the fish is decent. Staff were nice and the AC was a plus especially on a hot day. read more

This place is very underwhelming! I've tried this place 2-3 times to see if they just had a bad day, or if quality was consistently bad. The last time I went, they dont mix sauce with the fish and only drizzle it on top after its on top of your rice already. Maybe you could call it a donburi and market it as something else? But it's definitely not poke. They have some variety of toppings and are also able to make sushi rolls, so I guess thats a plus. The selections are always fresh and they have everything that I love. The downside of this place is that the bowl size is the same no matter how many scoops you order. Compared to other places that have larger bowls when ordering more scoops. Also they don't offer to mix the salad with the dressing. Another new poke place in the SGV! Poki Bomb has a sister location in Buena Park and just recently opened up its newest location in El Monte. While this location is not the most convenient, it definitely will do well as it's smack dab in the middle of office buildings. Poki Bomb is actually located in the "food" plaza on Flair Drive by Jack in the Box and some other restaurants. Right off the 10 by Telstar. I can already see this place being busy on weekdays during lunch hours. While most poke bowls only stick to serving fish, Poki Bomb offers fish (from the sea) and meat (from the land)! 2 scoops: $8 3 scoops: $9.50 4 scoops: $11 If you order beef or chicken, it's $8 while both is only $10. Same ordering technique as most poke places. Choose your base: white/brown rice, salad, chips, or a mixture of 2; choose the protein (tuna/spicy tuna, salmon, albacore, scallop, shrimp, octopus, squid salad, tamago; choose the sauce; finish it up with some toppings. I ended up ordering the 3 scoops with a base of white rice and salad. 2 scoops of salmon and 1 scoop of octopus, with seaweed salad, imitation crab, and a few other toppings as my add-ons. All toppings (including avocado) are included unless you want an extra scoop which will cost you $1 more. I really enjoyed the entire poke bowl! Normally I feel like most places don't give you enough sauce, so the rice is super dry, but the worker helping me squeezed an adequate amount of sauce all over the bowl so that even the rice and salad had that ponzu flavor! The fish was super fresh - pretty big chunks of salmon that slightly melted in my mouth upon taking a bite. The octopus was also tasty (not too chewy). Seaweed salad was pretty much gone by the time I went, so I only got a small amount, but that and the imitation crab and masago helped add to the overall bowl. I tried both the ponzu and ginger sauce mixed in my bowl, and I was quite satisfied with the overall acidic flavor. The only minor con I could see was that the amount of rice and salad was very small in comparison to most other poke places. Normally I can't finish a medium sized poke bowl, but I was able to finish this one. Not sure if there are different bowl sizes for the amounts of fish that you choose to order, but the medium was a decently sized bowl. The restaurant itself is quite big with a good number of tables and bar seating. I feel like the amount of space taken by the poke bar itself is quite small, with most ingredients scrunched up side by side. They also serve miso soup, edamame and some rolls as well. tl;dr - Definitely will come back and try their "from the land" options. I really liked that the fish was fresh and that they gave me a good amount of sauce in the bowl. Price can be a little high for the amount of base that was given, but hopefully they'll fix a few kinks after they get through the soft opening. Getting the 4 scoop half and half, ST, tuna, salmon, albacore, mild spicy mayo ponzu sauce most toppings was really nice, because of the fact that their protein slices are thick and they are fresh. The sauces are really good and mixing 2 is actually really beneficial because it ensures that you'll definitely have enough sauce for the rice at the end. The negative here is are that their scoops are really small (maybe because they know they are doing 50% off?). They seem to be really stingy right now with all of the things that are passing out, as the 4 scoop bowl I had had less of every ingredient that other poke places.
