There's so many make-your-own poke bowls that they all begin to taste the same. I usually get their 3 scoops of protein. You have your common protein: salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, octopus, cooked shrimp, etc. I love scallops and they had bay scallops here. I actually like their scallops here! They had a variety of toppings and they weren't stingy at all. They do charge for avocado and extra scoops of crab though. This would probably be one of the better make-your-own poke places I've been to. read more

We came on a Sunday and it was absolutely dead, which it totally fine by me as I can get in and out quick. Apparently, they have only been open a few months and are much busier during the week since they are located in an industrial area. The two guys working were very helpful and were able to ask all of our questions. When I say all I really just mean asking if there were gluten in things. We were surprised to find out how much gluten was actually in a lot of the items. This is really why I am kinda disappointed in the place. The only gluten-free sauce is spicy mayo and I don't like spice. Essentially all of their sauces are soy based. I was also surprised to find out that the crab salad had gluten in it. All in all I wish there were more options for me and a bummer I had to leave with a bowl with no sauce on it. read more

It's a great fresh bowl of oh so good yummy ingredients. Well, I'm only describing my favorite ingredients. The shrimp was crispy, crunchy. And the albacore fresh firm. The spicy tuna is if you could make chili paste from the ocean. It's a great spicy topper to every bite. I actually liked this poke place. Came here for lunch on a Friday, and there was a decent amount of customers. Service was good, and the line moved pretty quickly. Their menu is a lot like Poki One and Half in my opinion. You can choose white rice, brown rice, salad, or mixed with 2-4 protein. There are about 15 options for toppings, and they are unlimited! I thought their salmon was more fresh compared to other poke places in SD. I got the poke sauce, which had a very generic sweet and savory teriyaki taste. However, I did like that they didn't drown my fish with a bunch of sauce. The amount was just right. The toppings were very standard. A bowl with 3 scoops of protein came out to be ~$11, which was reasonable. The portion was perfect for me. I don't really have any complaints. I'd recommend coming here if you are looking for something quick and healthy. read more

I have been looking forward for this poke restaurant for a long time. When I saw their open sign today, I was very excited and tried it out immediately. The restaurant is small but very clean. I ordered the small bowl with salmon and tuna. The fish are very fresh. They gave very full scoops. For sauces, I had a mixture of Poke sauce and spicy mayo. I liked it very much. There are also a variety of toppings. I will definitely come back! One recommendation is that I hope they can offer ramen in winter. That will be awesome! read more

Tucked away in the far corner of a little shopping strip, nestled amongst industrial neighbors, Poke Point is worth seeking out. Fairly priced, friendly service and quality ingredients. The fish was fresh and they give you a decent amount of it. I'd recommend getting creative and having them mix sauces for you, I went with poke sauce (sweet) mixed with spicy mayo. I came by around 12:15 and they were not busy, which is a plus for me but a little surprising since it's peak lunch time. Their bowl sizes with # of scoops is standard but they're loose scoops, which I appreciate. You actually get a bit more than other places, at least I did during this visit. Pretty basic shop if you ask me, serving poke bowls or poke salads. portion size was pretty good, forget what sauce(s) I used since I just went with the workers recommendation. The staff was very welcoming. Only knock on this place I have is their lack of variety, particularly when it comes to side dishes and/or appetizers. Not that great. Service was good, but the area seemed a bit sketchy to me, especially being a smaller girl with my even smaller brother in the parking lot. Tried to get the food and go as quickly as we could. The food itself wasn't even worth how much money you pay, especially the fish. We brought a bowl back for my sister and neither my sister or I could finish the fish -- it didn't taste right. Now I had my reservations of going to a poke place in the evening located in the heart of a business park. But I will tell you this place is legit. You get one bowl, with the choice of 1, 2, or 4 scoops of protein I opted for the latter of the tuna. But the salmon and spicy tuna looked super appetizing as well. Then you have a choice of sauce, spicy poke sauce for me. I tried the other sauces and I have to say the poke sauce was much spicier than even the spicy mayo. Ginger sauce would have been my second pick. After the sauces you get your toppings and you can load on as many as you want! I of course got everything and was pleasantly surprised at the combination of tuna, rice, and sweetness of pineapple. This place, has some great tasting tuna. I wasn't super thrilled, however, that the warm temperature of the rice brought the temperature of my fish way up. I prefer my poké to remain ice cold (as it should always be). The scoops of protein are definitely small. It was difficult to tune in to the actual flavors though because not enough sauce was added to the bowl so overall it was a bit dry. For a similar price point, I think I will stick with the poké over at Costco because it is ALL meat as opposed to the bowl ingredients and fillers like rice. I would definitely recommend to those who love "bowls" and I'm glad I stopped in to at least give them a try. read more

The guys here were super nice. The place is new and it was dead as a doornail on a Sunday night. Not bad, but boy this parking area is dark and creepy when it's nighttime. So little light. Anyway. The fish selection was quite simple, tuna, yellowtail, shrimp, octopus. I prefer a few more types of tuna on offer. No gluten-free sauce options except for spicy mayo. Really? There are so many sauce options at poke places, many of which are just naturally gluten-free, that you don't even have to try. In fact, I would say you need to go out of your way to make each of your sauces soy sauce based (no Tamari either?) that is' more work. A little cilantro lime sesame oil sauce would be great, what if people don't like spicy food? This was a huge bummer, that meant everything in my girlfriend's bowl had to be dry. Not great. The topping choices were okay, nothing amazing, but the seaweed salad was good, and the spicy crab was fine. Portions were good, and the rice was good. The guys working here were really nice and apologized for the sauces, they didn't even have anything in back they said they would just whip up (the place was dead so I asked). All in all, the bowls were fine, and I get that Poway has only this one option for poke, but with all of the other poke options around, this one would not make the cut in a more competrive environemt. They'll need more sauces, more fish, and more options I think to be competive if someone else moves in to offer some comptwetion. read more

I was a big fan of Hong Kong Express so when they suddenly closed I was weary of what would replace it. However after going there for lunch today I was very happy with what I saw. Everything was fresh, the staff was very attentive and my bowl was as delicious. I will definitely be back. June 2017 update Unfortunately the quality of the food seems to have dipped since they first opened. I don't know if they went cheap with their ingredients or what but it's just not as good anymore. All ingredients taste very fresh. They make their own sauces. My husband liked the spicy one and I liked sesame.

This is a good place, but with so many poke spots in San Diego these days, there's a lot of competition out there. I really appreciate that they were generous with the rice and offered more if you wanted (look at your stingy portions, Poke 1.5). The scoops of fish looked a bit small, but didn't seem lacking when I ate, so maybe the scoop was larger? Note that they don't have a tofu/vegetarian/non-fish option. Toppings included pineapple and mandarin oranges, and it's $1 extra for avocado. They were also very generous with the seaweed salad when I kept asking for more. Note that the spicy poke sauce isn't spicy at all from chilies, but does have a generous wasabi kick! Was not expecting that. My biggest complaint thought was the fried garlic. I generally like the crunch, but this had a few extremely hard bits in it that made me feel like I was about to break a tooth. Did something wind up in there that shouldn't have? Ultimately, not my favorite, but I won't object to going back. read more
