    Regular Bowl

i come to ballard like once a month or so to get my nails done... and because i usually get them done around noon, i'm usually hungry after. i was randomly craving poke one of those times and i am a Certified Hater of just poké due to its price and, frankly, mediocrity. i did a search to see if there was anything else around and this place came up. i walked in and was greeted by a super cool guy (i did not get his name but he has long hair and snakebites). i told him it was my first time in and he helped me put my bowl together. like i said he was super cool and i was the only person inside so we were just yapping which was fun. the inside of the place isn't a special atmospheric adventure but it has some big windows so there's lots of natural light. overall, this place was pretty good. fish was fresh and there's a good selection of toppings and sauces. if i'm ever craving poke after my nail appointments, i'll swing by.

Consistent, fresh, tasty poke. Love a good neighborhood spot. Friendly staff and generous portions. Tip: get mixed base of rice + salad, instead of just rice. Not good for large groups to sit, but really haven't seen it too crowded for dine in either. But hits the spot when craving poke and you're in the area. Adding some recent menu pics.

I like poke square. It's a great fast-casual lunch spot. The guys are friendly, the food is 'affordable', it's healthy, fresh, filling, and it's quick. It's always open when I'm in the neighborhood: lunch hour. It's also great that they use mostly compostable take out containers. If you're lucky you can score some miso or hot tea there when it's cold outside. Similar to most poke places you pick almost everything. It's like Hawaiian subway with fresh fish, rice, and seaweed. Poke square is affordable and quick. The only recommendations I have are to offer a few pre made bowls so that new customers aren't so burdened with difficult decisions about what to put in there. More protein variety would be nice but I can imagine that it's best for a small spot to keep the choices limited to control the cost. Keep up the good work!

This place is on par with FOB, which is supposed to be the best in Seattle. I would prefer this place as they have more options and it's much more affordable. The indoor seating is comfortable and the staffs have great personality. Awesome place for a poke fix!

Yummy poke spot in Ballard that hits the spot with fresh fish and a variety of sides! They definitely don't skimp on the fish here too. I got a regular bowl that comes with two scoops of fish and plenty of sides and it was a huge meal. The fish was fresh and perfectly mixed with their house sauces. Loved the variety of sides that added but didn't take away from the flavor of the fish. Nice service and very clean interior to enjoy eating inside too!

Poke Square has a lot of options and not limited on toppings! I really appreciate this aspect. They're quick and nice. In terms of the flavor, it's a pretty standard poke food and taste. The place itself was clean and small.

This is my favorite local poke place! It's reliable, high quality, and reasonably priced! I'm always satisfied coming here (and I come here a bunch--at least once a week). Highly recommend trying all the different sauces!

I can't believe I haven't try this place till now! They have a variety of protein selection and all the ingredients tasted fresh. This poke spot is supper generous with their portion. The staff is super friendly and patient with my order as I review their lists of options. The quality and quantity of the poke bowl are amazing as well as fair pricing. Definitely would come back and order again!

Poke. I take it super seriously from all the times as a kid having it in Hawaii. Now, during lockdown it is really easy to order nothing but comfort food so when I found they were delivering, my little heart was happy! As you can see by the copious photos, I have ordered more than once from them and been VERY happy with every bowl. Personally I am good with the smaller of the two bowls. I ordered the large a couple of times but ended up eating them over two sittings. My favourite is a mix of the rice and greens, and have come to the conclusion that I could have one of these bowls 5-6x a week and be happy as a fat otter. I absolutely love this place. I feel the quality and quantity for what you receive is good. I have never been disappointed in a bowl that I've gotten from them. Keep up the good work and keep supporting local businesses during this difficult time!

Okay, I fully admit I was skeptical of yet another poke place but poke square really surprised me! I was greeted immediately and they were so nice in while putting the poke bowl together. I went for brown rice and salmon/tuna regular bowl. Pretty standard of what I order at a poke shop. I was however pleasantly surprised of the quality of the fish (didn't get a single bite of yucky gritty fish you sometimes get at subpar poke places) and the tastiness of the toppings. I really appreciated the pickled daikon/carrot mix (yep, like the ones you get inside a banh mi) and amount of pickled ginger they don on top. This is not a place that skimp on toppings and I really appreciate that. I can tell poke square will definitely go into my regular rotation of lunch places. If you're feeling skeptical of yet another poke shop in seattle or you're just in need of a great quality poke, look no further!

Poke Square is my go-to lunch spot in Ballard since I live so close! The food is consistently fresh, delicious, and I know that I can be in and out with my food in less than 10 minutes. The staff is very friendly too! Today I ordered takeout directly from Yelp and my lunch was waiting for me as soon as I arrived! I usually go for the regular bowl (comes with 2 proteins) with brown rice and + avocado. It's a liiiittttle pricey for lunch (about $17 for a regular bowl + a drink + tip), but totally worth the "splurge" every once in a while. Give this place a try if you're craving poke in Ballard! Ps - they have their Halloween decorations out to get you feeling festive :)

Being Hawaiian, I take my poke seriously. I've tried a couple poke shops in Seattle just to compare what there is and Poke Square has been my favorite. We ordered for the first time just tonight, my boyfriend and I both got the regular combos. I got the bowl on the left in the photo (tuna, salmon, brown rice, sriracha aoli pickled ginger, cucumber, edamame, corn, furikake and seaweed) and his is on the right (tuna, salmon, white rice, white onion, avocado, sesame seeds, edamame). We DEMOLISHED the bowls. Perfect amount of dressing, perfect rice seasoning, ingredients were fresh, the quality of the fish was SOLID. We're happy to support such a tasty shop during these hard times!!

Hi Yelpers! Is the clear container made of plastic or is it composable? Thank you!?

Great question! The clear container we use are compostable along with everything we provide to customers to enjoy our food. This includes water cups, soda cups, sauce containers, chopsticks, and utensils!

This spot was recommended to me by a friend. The interior of the restaurant was warm and very decorated. There were a lot of Hawaiian cultural references, which added to the ambiance. The staff were so friendly and very helpful. And despite it being super busy the day that I went, they were all patient with each customer. I had a few samples of their fish, and let me tell you, the fish is FRESH. I am usually picky with tuna because they tend to have a fishy taste, but Ono's tuna was NOT fishy at all. Also, all the different flavors of poké were seasoned PERFECTLY. I got the spicy salmon and the scallop poke. They were both buttery and tender. The flavors did not overtake the natural flavor of the fish, and the sauce was seeped deep into the salmon; the same goes for the scallop. Sometimes at poké restaurants the sauce will sit on top of the fish, but NOT HERE. This place is genuinely SO SO good. I highly recommend coming to this place and trying their poké! + This place is so good that I am willing to make the trip out to this place if I am ever back in this state.

Another tough pill to swallow is the prices being a bit higher but again, somewhat justified with high quality, decent quantity, and overall delicious. Ample parking because it's located in a large plaza, but may have to park a little further away in the plaza because of the amount of people. Amazing price, generous portion, excellent quality. Unagyu don (4/5) This bowl has a mix of tender beef and eel and it's quite heavy on the sauce. I wouldn't say it's very salty but it is saucy and you need to mix it with the rice properly to balance it out. The portion is generous and it is very filling. Not bad but I'd go for the chirashi every time.

If you're a fan of Red Bowl in Financial District, this place has a similar vibe with its approach to rice bowls. Having been here twice on different weeks, I think this will become one of my go-to places in the area when I'm craving fresh seafood on a weekend south of downtown. LOGISTICS Parking is convenient for Georgetown area, given they have a dedicated lot for customers of businesses in the area. Entering in, you order through the kiosk and if you're dining in, you can seat yourself and they'll bring the order to you. The space is small for larger groups but if you're 4 people or less, generally there are tables available on off peak hours (at least what we observed Sat/Sun). Ordering happens at the kiosk, which you can choose for takeout or to dine in. Keep in mind there are some items available for dine-in only (ex. udon or seared salmon bowls), but if you plan on doing takeout anyways you can order online or call ahead for pickup. Note - they do close at 2:30 pm but re-open at 4:30 pm. So long as you get your order in by 2:30 pm they'll still service you... which was nice since the last two times we came in around 2:00 PM. FOOD First off, they have nice nice presentation both in how the food is arranged and the bowls they use when dining in. From the ceramic/decorative bowls to the trays they use... it's the little things that add to the dining experience and make you think a business cares about its food. (Note: there was one time we had initially ordered togo but decided to eat in person; so they kept the food in plastic bowls for one of my photos.) In every bowl we had during our two visits, the rice was excellent! We've had some terrible rice at other donburi places before where it can be too overcooked or too mushy. Fortunately their seasoned rice was a good texture and tasty to eat on its own. The seafood was also excellent for the price / quality - fresh tasting with a melt-in-your mouth texture. Volcano Bowl: Spicy salmon + spicy crab salad w/ masago - despite the description it wasn't too spicy (siracha mayo) but it went really well with the rice, like a deconstructed sushi roll. I liked mixing in some wasabi to give it a stronger kick. Aburi Sake Bowl (seared salmon bowl): This is only available to order for dine-in; if you love salmon... I would recommend this one. Seared salmon is delicious seafood umami. I liked how the salmon had the right amount of fattiness too. Chirashi Bowl: If you like variety, then this is an excellent bowl to try a little bit of everything. I was amused that they also included unagi (I don't think I see that in most chirashi bowls). Even the shrimp, which is usually my least favorite part of chirashi bowls, tasted good with a slight sweetness. OVERALL Awesome place and a good location for the area given there's parking available. Price was just right for the quality (I'm amused how much cheaper good seafood is here in Seattle compared to the Bay Area) and the staff were really friendly. There are also two excellent bouldering gyms nearby (Castle Climbing Club and Momentum)... so if you're looking to recharge after a climbing session, I would highly recommend coming here!

There are no bells and whistles here, just excellent service, fair prices, and fantastic food. There are only a handful of tables, which is really meant for solo diners and two people at best. There is a handful of takeout patrons at any given time, but that's only because of the wait. It's far more enticing to sit in and experience the magic that exists in every bowl. Water is self-serve and thankfully presented in a filtered water tank that spits out cold, delicious water. A majority of the bowls are between $13-16 each, which in today's foodflation economy seems expected. The good news is that the portion is substantial in every bowl. My go-to is their chirashi, which is roughly $19 but features a nice array of fish cuts that include salmon, chopped fatty tuna, masago, fresh water eel, shrimp with albacore and another dose of tuna. The unagi don is their most expensive bowl at nearly $21, but the broiled unagi with the eel sauce that is dynamite. The textures, the sweetness, and the size is all on point. And due to its status as a teriyaki city, I think the chicken teri don is an excellent alternative to all the seafood. The teriyaki hits all the right flavor notes, with just enough sweetness with the tenderness of the chicken meat. Add in another $1 and it's a spicy version. I so wish there was something like this in my neck of the woods. If I lived in Seattle, this would be a weekly destination. I'm already looking forward to my next visit(s).
