I have ordered Poke Poke via delivery several times in the past and was always pleased with how fresh everything was, so I decided to drop in for a dine-in visit after an ice skating session one day! It was very much between lunch and dinner time, so the restaurant was completely empty inside. My friend and I perused the menu board and eventually each decided to get a regular sized build-your-own bowl. In my poke bowl, I got spicy tuna, salmon, and scallop as the proteins and purple rice as the base. I really appreciate them allowing three different protein choices, variety is great! I then got an assortment of other toppings, including my favorites, fish roe and imitation crab. Everything tasted very fresh as expected, though I think in the future I'd rather get a 2nd portion of scallop instead of spicy tuna (just a personal preference). My friend dined outside the restaurant on the sidewalk since it was a nice day, and interestingly some birds came by and basically begged for food. The price is super reasonable for the quality and portions and I'll definitely be back if I'm in the area. More likely though, I'll order delivery again from them first! On my first visit here, I ordered the donburi over rice. It came with miso soup which was a perfect complement especially coming in from the cold. The donburi was delicious and something I would get again. There was just enough of everything to feel balanced. They were ready to close. But we got our food and they were somewhat friendly. I tried the purple rice. It was good but made me more full compared to just regular rice/sushi rice. The sauce offerings were more than my other place. The price is the same but can't tell if the bowl size is the same. The parking is hard. The restaurant is on the corner. The staff are always so kind! This is my go to spot when I have a sushi craving. My typical order is their poke bowl with the spicy tuna and 2x salmon. I recommend this if you're around the West Loop area. In the summer time, you can order take out and enjoy at one of the nearby parks. Just a note, I tried their ramen once and it was alright. A poke place with purple rice is already starting off on the right foot. Its a small restaurant with limited indoor seating and a few tables right outside. (Chicago isn't the windy city for nothing- one of the outdoor tables almost blew over with the umbrella.) The staff was very friendly, and the bowls are a pretty good size. They have different heat levels, and the medium one had a perfect kick to it without being overpowering for my taste. I always go with the build your own option. The ordering process for the build your own option is straightforward, start with your base, choose the protein which is followed by spiciness level. After that, comes the toppings, sauces and garnish. Everything is always super fresh! The staff is friendly and they do a great job of moving people through the line. As for seating, the dining area is small but they make great use of it. Additionally, weather permitting, they is outdoor seating available. Stopped by after an appointment in the area - I'm used to going to the Loop location but I think this one has a slight edge over it. Same concept and cute decor, but this West Loop spot is on a corner with big windows letting more light in and also some outdoor seating. My visit was during off-peak hours, so there was no line, and I was in/out in only a few minutes. I got a regular sized custom bowl for ~$16, which is a little overpriced imho but it was very fresh and tasty. Everything tasted very fresh and the salmon didn't smell or taste fishy like some other poke i've had (i know--ew). They also have an amazing selection of drinks including some unsweetened japanese tea, lemonade, and flavored milk. The unagi don was delicious and comes with miso soup! The pickled radish and ginger balance well with the richness of the unagi and sweetness of the eel sauce. The restaurant has great natural light during lunch hours and a lot of healthy plants inside. It takes a few minutes for the unagi don to come out but it didn't feel too long. I don't actually care too much for poke. It's pretty big on the west coast. One of our group really wanted to get poke. I was reluctant. I mean how good could Midwest poke be. I can't believe this amazing spot was so close to me and I never realized. This small but mighty restaurant is next to Waffles and could be easy to miss when walking by.
