Poke Parlor is one of the better spots near UC Berkeley campus. The variety of fish and toppings that are offered far exceeded my expectations! I got a half rice half salad bowl with salmon and tuna - going for the shoyu and ponzu sauce, super good! My server, Pearl, was very attentive and gave me such a bright smile :) I wasn't very familiar with the menu, but she was patient as she walked me through each step off assembling the bowl. Probably the best poke place around Berkeley! The portions are generous and the flavors are excellent. I love spice and the bowls I get have the perfect amount of it. All the ingredients taste fresh, and the textures are amazing. The workers are also really helpful and kind. It does get pretty loud inside because it can get busy and the store is small, but I personally don't mind it. There are also some unique topics and proteins that you can add. I only ever build my own bowls, but a friend who had one of the specialty bowls with the store's own recipe said it was really good. All around great place. read more

Anyone who knows me knows I love Poke and Poke Parlor is hands down my favorite place to get Poke in Berkeley. I used to have to wait until I went to San Ramon or San Jose in order to got a build your own poke place so I'm super glad this place exists. They have a wide variety of fish and toppings to choose from (although I usually end up ordering the same thing every time, if its good why change it right?) including yellowtail and seared albacore which I rarely see at other places. While there is some variance in portion sizes depending on the employee, in general the bowls are more than big enough. If you're like me, you'll be full for the rest of the day after eating here. The employees are really friendly. I recently came with friends who had never been and the employees answered all their questions and made really great recommendations. The restaurant itself is very clean and has a little section in the corner with water, napkins and chopsticks. However, since it is a smaller storefront, there is limited seating and you might end up having to get to-go if you go during the lunch rush. I've been here more times than I'd care to admit and I will continue coming here whenever the poke cravings hit. read more

I have revisited Poke Parlor on multiple occasions and I actually think it is better than Poke Bar now. There is more variety of ingredients and the portions are better. In addition, the staff are always friendly - Destiny always takes my order and even remembers most of it everytime! Compared to other poke places, there are even zoodles for an option as a base, and the fish tastes fresh. The options are endless with veggies, and seaweed salad + crab salad is free (only avocado and mango is extra). You could tell that most of the ingredients are not canned and actually fresh - which makes a poke bowl that much better. When I first visited a couple years back, things did not taste as fresh but it is great to see that they have changed for the better in terms of service and freshness of items offered to become my favorite poke place in Berkeley. read more

I am OBSESSED with Poke Parlor. I currently attend Cal and this is my go to spot for a meal. It is right next to Zebra Tattoos, so not too far from campus. For the price, you will not find another place in the Bay that will give you the same portion size. It is amazing. I always get a small (or their newly introduced snack size) and it is definitely comparable to mediums from other poke in the area. The fish is always fresh and they have the toppings I like so I am very satisfied - also really good degrees of spice on the sauces. EATS Chipotle-style ordering where you get to choose options for your bowl. Impressed with the variety of fresh ingredients and generous portion size of fish. A regular comes w/ 3 scoops of protein which I thought was plenty. For sauces I got the sriracha aioli + shoyu sauce... so good! Also 10/10 for the clear, graphic menu. Comparatively speaking, this poke place was the worst I've ever had. However the flavors were not completely terrible. My main issue here is the portioning. Far too much of the sides and toppings with hardly any rice. The amount of corn I received was quite honestly a tease. And not offering avocado was very disappointing. I even left a note in my order about my portion preference which was apparently disregarded. The lemonade was not good, it tastes like a mixture of "Real Lemon Juice", tap water and sugar. Ten year olds on street corners make better lemonade than this place. I understand that "everyone is trying their best during Covid" but the issues I had here were unrelated to that. read more

Another poke place?? As a poke lover, I can't argue against that! I HAD to try this place out, and decided to do so the other night for dinner. With the toastier weather lately, poke is my go-to. My boyfriend and I stopped by around dinner time on a weekday, and it wasn't too crowded. We liked how the menu had the option to both customize your own bowl or pick a specialty. We both went with the salmon supreme (~$10.50). I got to pick my base for no extra charge. The server even told me I can do half half (woo!), so I chose mixed greens and brown rice for my base, and my boyfriend went with white rice. Unfortunately, I was too wrapped up in chatting about Narcos to pay attention to what they mixed, but I did see they scooped a generous three scoops of fish into each portion, yay! They also have a stamp system, and for every $10 you spend, you get a stamp! I immediately noticed how large the portion was and was happy to dig in. It was delicious! Salmon tasted fresh and I loved the mix of edamame and other toppings. Their imitation crab was on point. I do feel the sauce was a tad too heavy though, making the meal heavier than I'd like my poke, otherwise I would give this place a higher rating. The quality and the variety of the toppings were excellent. I loved the salmon skin and the roasted garlic. They were out of salmon and seaweed salad because I went in around closing time. Since I've come to Berkeley, I've been on the lookout for a place to satisfy my Poke cravings on the weekly, and I have to say this place has been my go-to!! At a reasonable price to pay, the freshness of their fish (I got the salmon and yellowtail) and hefty portion size makes it all worth it. Not to mention, they're fairly generous with their sides!! First time having a poke bowl and it was pretty tasty! There's nothing super extraordinary about raw fish so I'm not entirely sure why some people are obsessed with it, but it's not bad. I expected worse actually. I got a regular bowl w half greens and half brown rice w salmon, ahi Tuna, and shrimp. I was surprised by how many toppings you could put on, I think my favorite was the roasted garlic because the crunch really made a difference! Also really like garlic. What caught my eye was the opportunity to customize your bowl the way you want. I personally care about my health a lot and like to know what exactly I am putting in my bowl. They make it so easy to make the bowl healthy and match each customer's desires! I've gone to Poke Parlor several times in the past and all those times, it was totally fine. While portions are smaller than those of a few other local poke restaurants (especially when factoring in the price), the flavor and quality of ingredients usually makes up for it. However, when I got my bowl today, I took one bite, then couldn't bring myself to take another. The rice wasn't cooked all the way. Long story short, I ended up cooking my own rice at home and putting the fish and all on top of that. You would think that a poke place would have their rice down, not only because it's so simple to make, but also because rice is a staple of poke! This is probably the first time I've eaten uncooked rice from a restaurant. Based off several other more recent reviews I've read that point out the undercooked rice, I think Poke Parlor can greatly benefit from looking into that issue. Until then, you're probably better off getting the salad or zucchini noodles for your bowl's base. read more

Living less than a block away, I have long awaited for Poke Parlor to open for months. When I first walked in, I was taken aback by its small size, and all its tables were filled with customers. However, there's nothing worry about because they provide sizable portions whether you take it to go or manage to grab one of the few seats in house. Anyways, I have already been here a few times, but I have to say that a regular build your own by far the best option the store has to offer. Surely, the tuna tacos and the Pokeninis offer a unique twist to this Hawaiian dish, but the fact that I can make a bowl from scratch with only the ingredients that I like always win out when I'm craving some good poke. From my first visit, I learned that all their fish are sashimi grade and are delivered fresh every day. Personally, the Scottish salmon, which melted in my mouth, is my favorite along with the Ahi Tuna. But Poke Parlor provides other options like the seared albacore, torched and prepped fresh in the back, and tako, imported straight from Japan. They have mentioned several times that because they are not associated with any other franchises, they're able to offer better quality fish than most other competitors. Here, the fresh fish aren't the only things that they boast. Their crab salad and seaweed salad are just as amazing. Although seaweed salad is an extra dollar, they don't skimp out on portions, so it's a dollar well spent in my opinion. Poke Parlor also recommend its customers to go for a mix of two or more of their sauces, all made in house. Because they have such a large selection, I often go for a new mixture; however, when i'm in autopilot, I tend to go for wasabi creme and citrus ponzu with a drizzle of sesame oil. A meal can't be considered complete without a good dessert. And at Poke Parlor, I love to get the mochi ice cream, either mango or lychee flavor, that they import from Hawaii. Although the ice cream tend to lighten your wallet, i can't consider having a meal without one of these mochi ball, especially on a hot day. My overall experience here was out of the world, and loved everything that they had to offer. Especially because its so close to where I live I plan on coming by much more often now. read more

Normally, if the poke tastes good, I will be satisfied paying 15 dollars, however, today was a different story. They refused to add an adequate portion of sauce, making it dry and flavorless. The fact that the seaweed salad was more flavorful than the entire poke bowl is unacceptable.
