First time I came here I was very happy with who made my bowl (not sure what his name was)- my bowl was filled to the top & he was very nice! I drove 45 minutes again tonight to come get another bowl...unfortunately my experience was terrible. The ladies were rude and made me feel as if I was an inconvenience for coming in. I got a large bowl (4 proteins) and as you can see in the photo, I only got TWO pieces of spicy tuna and ONE piece of shrimp. My order was rushed and handled carelessly. & the corn? Barely any. There's nothing in this plate but rice. This was not worth close to $17, or the drive out here. I'll give it another try though sometime. read more

This marks my completed journey to the 6 poke spots in Berkeley! Just like most of the others, Poke Parlor offers a large variety of options to build your bowl (base, protein, sides, toppings, and sauces) and is set up for a super smooth ordering process. Ingredients tasted fresh and the staff are super helpful with their recommendations (I always find myself torn between sauce combinations). This poke time around, I opted for a small bowl (about $10) with a mix of zucchini noodles (yes they have zoodles!) and brown rice as my base, tuna and spicy salmon as my protein, and a few sides including carrots, corn, kimchi, mango, and pineapple. I love that they don't charge extra for those fruits! I didn't know what sauces to get so the girl working asked me if I prefer savory, spicy, or sweet and I said savory and she recommended some kind of ponzu combination, which I really liked. There's a few tables inside, but we just took our small bowls home for a nice night of catching up on Netflix. They have paper bags on hand if you ask for it and also water cups for self-serve hydration in the back. All in all, a solid poke experience. Would definitely go back. read more

Salmon smelled extremely fishy and not fresh, and I didn't order tofu but kept finding small chunks of tofu in my bowl. I used to love coming here, but the bowls haven't tasted great the last few times I've been and it seems like food safety and fish freshness have really declined in the last year or so. Unless something big changes, I don't think I'll be coming back, especially because Hashtag Poki is much better in terms of fish freshness and quality. read more

One girl two guys, the strand of hair I almost swallowed was from the guy who served me. I feel disrespected by this. Legal terms require employee to wear hairnet when handling food. This is counter service same as Panda Express where I used to work. The gal with messy bun refunded me, everyone there has such a hair! Covering their foreheads and all I wish I took a their mugshots. I don't care about the refund, but she didn't apologize instead said "inside we wear hairnet but outside we don't and girls wear them the guys don't need to" I was like whatever, she didn't make any sense. but they are not wearing hairnet inside either when walking in and out. I gave my friend my order with all the toppings and types of protein I wanted. I wanted to support her fundraiser but couldn't make it all the way down to Southside. She came back with my bowl and for a second I thought someone had eaten some of it, but no. There was literally only 7 small pieces of fish and 2 of the 7 or so toppings I asked for, in addition to tomatoes that I did not want. I was so mad-I just wasted $11 on a bowl of brown rice and mixed greens. I complained to my friend, which it was obviously not her fault, and she told me that the place was really low/running out of ingredients and "rationing" them. That is not acceptable. I love coming to Poke Parlor!!!!!! Honestly, whenever I'm craving poke or food in general, this is probably one of the first places I think of when I'm at school. I usually get the regular bowl, which comes with 3 protein options (spicy salmon, spicy tuna, and albacore) and you can even split your base into half rice and half mixed greens for more variety in your bowl. You can stack on fresh and tasty vegetables, such as mango and corn and green onion. And, imitation crab and kimchi and other toppings, such as fried onions and garlic, are all free! The poke bowl is delicious itself that I probably consider Poke Parlor one of my favorite poke places at Berkeley. They have a lot of other options as well to consider, such as a Pokenini or a Sushi Burrito. All these options will fill you up and you can probably take home leftovers as well! read more

Tried this place out for the first time today which is in a great location right on Telegraph. Overall this was a good sized bowl and serving. I appreciated the multiple add on toppings they had. I like the food, but the service is awful. Their food preparation is slow. I once ordered ten minutes ahead on doordash, and having been there many times in person, I know that this is a five minute job, max. I got there, didn't find my order, and was told "Let me get started on that for you." They frequently don't have ingredients on hand, ranging from fish to toppings to drinks. All but one of the times I've gone there (10-15) and asked for a milk tea, they have to brew the tea because they don't have any. A three minute job becomes a ten minute job (not an exaggeration). I ordered a sushi burrito and was incredibly disappointed (Sushi Secrets is my favorite, followed by Sushinista, but both were closed). The burrito was very damp and falling apart, and mostly tasted of the excessive amount of green onions include, instead of the lovely balance of flavors and textures sushi burritos usually offer. Even the tuna was mushy, not really fresh enough to serve raw! I picked out most of the onions, rerolled or (it was more stable after that than it has been when it was delivered) ate it because I was hungry. Also, I ordered and was charged for a bottle of Coke and got a can. Cannot recommend. It's bad enough to offer a specialty item that the restaurant can't make well, but sushi requires sushi-gade ingredients, I wouldn't trust their poke bowls either if this is their quality. Eh. Not terrible. But not the best poke I've had either. The fish wasn't bad, but not great or much of it to speak of. From what I could tell the only difference between a regular and large bowl is just the amount of rice. Speaking of rice, it's advertised as sushi rice. It's not. It's plain white sticky rice. Sauce: For starters they forgot to top my and my partner's bowls with sriracha aioli. Mistakes happen I get it. The bigger issue is that we both barely could detect any ponzu sauce. So that non-sushi rice was pretty bland. And omg there was a lot of it. Normally I add avo but after their issues with proportions I'm pretty happy I passed. I'll give credit on the proportion of masago and wakame but they consider them "sides" and limit you to 2 so if you do pay extra for avo, you can only add one of the others. If I pay extra for avo, why do I lose one of the free sides? This is an arbitrary limitation to a "build your own bowl" and is the real reason this review dropped from a 3 star meal to 2. read more

I actually enjoyed this spot the first time I ordered thru Postmates delivery. I made my own bowl and it was made correctly with surprisingly huge portions. However, the last several orders I made seems to be quite a different experience. One time I ordered, my sauce on the side was missing, rice was a bit dry and the portion seemed to be a lot less. I wanted to give them another try because I really enjoyed my bowl so, today I decided to place an order for pick up. I walked in and didn't received any greetings from the crew. I kindly asked for my order- guy pointed at the brown bag then I left. I'm not quite sure whether or not they were having a lunch rush from their delivery apps since no other customers were present but hospitality goes a long way. As for my bowl.. ehh, disappointed. Not a big fan of raw fish other than sushi but after trying the Salmon Supreme, I'm second guessing that. The bowl was packed with protein, and essential greens/veggies that complimented each other in perfect harmony. Tried this place off of door dash, disappointing to say the least. Every Poke place I've been to, a "Large" means 4 scoops of protein, yet only 2 scoops were in my large bowl, as well as the Large bowl not being full. My girl got a regular size bowl, which when compared side by side with mine, had near the same exact amount of food as my Large bowl. See the picture. Also, my girl ordered spicy tuna and that was also left out of her bowl. If that wasn't enough, apparently they double charge as well when ordering a Large bowl. I uploaded a picture of the receipt. The portions are quite bountiful, and the actual food is exquisitely cut up in a way that they melt together once they enter your mouth. Not only that, the options and variety of toppings will leave you wanting to experiment and try everything out. Now, the service is also something you cannot miss out on. These workers are one of the kindest and energetic people I have met; it's a breath of fresh air. I have had the privilege of meeting one of them - Troy. I called them after noticing this mistake and left a message to see if they could do anything to right this wrong, but 2 days later, I haven't heard back. Probably the best poke place around Berkeley! The portions are generous and the flavors are excellent. I love spice and the bowls I get have the perfect amount of it. All the ingredients taste fresh, and the textures are amazing. The workers are also really helpful and kind. It does get pretty loud inside because it can get busy and the store is small, but I personally don't mind it. There are also some unique topics and proteins that you can add. I am OBSESSED with Poke Parlor. I currently attend Cal and this is my go to spot for a meal. It is right next to Zebra Tattoos, so not too far from campus. For the price, you will not find another place in the Bay that will give you the same portion size. It is amazing. I always get a small (or their newly introduced snack size) and it is definitely comparable to mediums from other poke in the area. The fish is always fresh and they have the toppings I like so I am very satisfied - also really good degrees of spice on the sauces. Fresh, filling, flavorful poke!! I got a veggie bowl with a number of toppings and it felt like I could add whatever I wanted, definitely satisfying. Habanero aioli is delish. Will be returning here for any future poke cravings. One note, I did notice that some meat had spilled into the tofu within their ingredients bar. I watched carefully to make sure none got into my dish, and it ended up fine, but for vegetarians/those with allergies I would be careful as it does not appear to be as separated as I would ideally like. read more
