POKE EATS . . I took advantage of the Food Fest deals on @ritual_co and finally gave @poke.eats a try! They're located in the Yonge Sheppard food court at Emerald Park. Everytime I walk by during lunch theres's always a crowd of people and I finally know why. Portions are generous and bowls are pretty tasty. The salmon was creamy and fresh. . . Build your own poke bowl 4/5 . I removed one point because some of the sushi rice was still hard.

Walking into the shop front, I did not notice any menus on the walls but there are small pamphlets by the cash for you to grab and that has the menu on it. I ended up grabbing one of their signature bowls which has a protein and pre-determined toppings. Otherwise their build your own bowl is quite reasonable and straightforward as well. I got the Buddha Bowl which has tuna in citrus shoyu sauce, edamame, cucumber, mango (main reason why I got this haha), and seaweed salad over a bed of black rice and kale. I like how this place offers black rice and kale salad as options for the base. They do have normal white rice and another salad base. You can do all of one or 1/2 1/2 and get two different bases. Most other places are either brown rice or mixed salad. One thing I did notice to be different is the style. I like how they dice most of ingredients which are then tossed in the sauce and they laid over the base. While other poke places plop each topping on top of the base. Although the fish were diced in small cubes, there was quite an abundant amount. I was able to thoroughly enjoy each bite with fish and other toppings. Overall I think my bowl could have benefited from a little more sauce (most was concentrated in the middle) but I would definitely come back and order their other styles to try!

Fresh fish, quick service. Accommodating of the order even when they were about to close.

I tried this poke place a few weeks back, and I just had to leave this great review. I ordered a salmon poke bowl. The first impression that I had was that this restaurant was serving really fresh and tasty salmon! The amount of salmon that was in this dish was a pleasant surprise as every bite I was getting a mouthful of sashimi. This location is tucked in a corner of a building, so it may be hard to sight. There are no tables for dining, as this is pretty much a takeout place. The price was higher than I would've expected, but the amount of salmon sashimi that came with my order made it worth it.

Not a lot of poke places nearby in the area but this one does the trick. If you're taking a car here, it's going to be hard to find street parking. There's a parking lot available under the building. The rates are kind of steep - it was $4 per hour. However, if you're planning on hitting up the Food Basics or LCBO in here, you can get 45 minutes of free parking. Poke Eats is found on the ground floor of this building. It's a pretty simple operation that's almost reminiscent of a pop-up shop kind of deal. There's no seating inside of the shop, it's purely take out, although there is a food court in the building with tables there. 2 regular sized bowls came out to a price tag of $31. I did a regular sized BYOB. I was able to pick a base, 1 protein, and number of sauces, 2 regular toppings, 2 premium toppings, and as many of the crunch toppings as you wanted.. They have some great regular toppings like mango and pineapple that I don't see at all poke places. The premium toppings include things like a scoop of crab salad, seaweed salad, and avocado. It was great that the premium toppings were included but they made up for it by not giving you a lot of choices for the free ones. I demolished my bowl! My base was the black/purple rice which is a bit firmer and dryer than the normal sushi rice. I had salmon as the protein and these were cut up into nicely sized cubes that were tender. The citrus shoyu sauce that I had coated the salmon well and I'm not sure if it permeated into the rice too to give it that extra flavour or if the rice was already seasoned like that but I was really good. I thought the scoop of crab salad was pretty generous and the avocado was about half of one, which was also nice. Pretty decent choice for poke all around.

Poke Eats probably one of the few poke places that always gives me great experience no matter when I visit! I love how clean the interior is. This is really important especially when the business is serving mostly "raw" and uncooked food. The fish here also consistently fresh. Staff here is friendly and always serves me with a smile. TTC accessible as it is minute away from Yonge/Sheppard Station.

Poke Eats is located on the first floor of a condominium building at yonge and sheppard. I came on a Saturday for Lunch and it had a few people but wasn't too busy (as its primarily a take out place as well). I got the It's Lit bowl, which is like a spicy salmon poke bowl. Overall, good amount of toppings to rice ratio, but I wish they gave a bit more salmon. Their spicy mayo actually has a kick, which I loved. The overall size of the bowl was generous. Loved it and will probably be back!

This is probably one of the only poke bowl places in the area and sashimi is a favorite of mine, so I decided to check it out. I came in at lunch time on a weekday, which meant it was pretty crowded. The wait time to order was around 10 mins and the actual food took roughly 10-15 minutes. I would highly suggest ordering ahead if you want to come here. I got the It's Lit bowl and, at first, I felt like the portions were too small. However, when I actually started and finished eating it, I realized it's a pretty decent portion that fills you up without making you feel bloated. The overall bowl and the sashimi is quite fresh and delicious! The biggest downside to this place is the price. I feel like the price is high compared to other poke places if you go further out east. The initial order also asks if you want to put a tip in, which I think is sort of odd for these types of grab-and-go restaurant. Although the quality of the ingredients are quite nice, I'm not sure if the price point would entice me enough to come back.

Poke Eats is located near Sheppard/Yonge on the ground floor of a condo building. I've tried Poke Eats several times and have found that this place is just an average place for poke. They have signature bowls for $12.99 or they have an option to build your own poke bowl. During my several times there, I have only gotten the "It's Lit" bowl. There are big pieces of fish and I like that the "It's Lit" bowl comes with black rice, however, the flavours of the bowl are just average - the marinade does not come through and the whole bowl in general lacks the intense flavour that you expect (when you compare it to other poke places in Toronto). Overall, average poke place - there are much better places in Toronto to get your poke. The only reason I've gone several times is because Poke Eats is in my neighbourhood.

Probably one of my favourite poke chains I love the mini options for a smaller lunch! I also recommend getting a mix of rice and lettuce/kale for a more balanced taste

IT'S LIT: black sushi rice, salmon, spicy mayo, avocado, spicy cucumber, cherry tomatoes, and sweet corn.

I knew I would be in the area today so I was searching for some good eats! I came across Poke Eats which has good ratings all around on Yelp and Google so I decided to check it out since I personally LOVE poke bowls! Poke Eats has a bunch of preset bowls for $12.99 (regular size only) which are nice since it's a dollar cheaper than a Build Your Own yet includes a premium topping alteady. For BYOB, it's $8.99 for a snack size and $13.99 for a regular. How many of each protein/sauce/topping is included is nicely laid out on their minimalistic menu board on the wall, making it a easy order process. My favorite sushi roll is spicy salmon maki so I almost always opt for a bowl that has salmon and spicy mayo. I ended up getting the IT'S LIT preset bowl and includes black sushi rice, salmon, spicy mayo, avocado (a premium topping), spicy cucumber (which I swapped out for edamame), cherry tomatoes, and sweet corn. I also got all the garnishes, free of charge (e.g. sesame seeds, ginger, fried onions) which I recommend since these small things elevate the overall experience and make the flavors and textures more complex. The bowl was quite heavy to hold (yay, good portion!) And the rice was warm-to-hot to touch. I absolutely LOVED the black rice! I really appreciate when places like these allow for more base options, as white rice is so basic + I'm not really a lover of kale... Brown rice also doesn't really taste right either. Black rice really adds to the overall texture of the food IMO. Toppings were quite generous so there was something to go with every bite of rice. The spicy mayo was of the perfect heat level and really added flavor to the whole dish. All in all, such a good poke bowl. Service was quite friendly as well and the person at the register was very helpful in walking you through the steps if you get a BYOB. At a glance, the shop looks clean. All staff members were wearing masks. Bonus: they usually have a rewards program as well, but this is being paused for the time being due to COVID as they want to reduce contact (I'm guessing it's a stamp card).

Build My Own Bowl
Amabel S.

I love Poke Eats, if you asked me why I decided to build my own bowl, its because I am not a tuna eater, and i love Salmon alot!! My bowl: white & black sushi rice, salmon, sauce: citrus shoyu & wasabi mayo, edamame, wasabi peas (personally i dont like it because it is so crunchy), spicy seaweed salad, and crab salad, and nori -- I wish they have wasabi and masago for the garnish

Build your own bowl
Brenda Y.

I finally got a chance to try this place out! I decided to go for the build your own bowl. There were lots of ingredients to choose from and was intrigued by the white tuna and black rice. For the build your own bowl: I chose black rice and kale for the base, protein I had tuna and for the toppings I had the spicy squid, corn, edamame beans and avocado. For the sauce I chose the spicy mayo. Overall, it was a very tasty poke bowl. Everything tasted very cohesive and I liked how the sauce was already in very well with the protein. However, the only thing is the poke bowl was a little pricy for the amount of food you get. Their regular size poke bowl is like a small in other places.

Everything was very good and fresh. Standouts for me was the appetizer, all three cuts of bluefin tuna, the lobster (by far my favorite), and the hotaru ika. I would've appreciated knowing that the omakase included or not included toro and uni before I decided on the add-ons but I don't regret it. It was a splurge night after all. Service was very attentive. Note that the dining space is very small. 12 seats around the counter and two tables. There was a very loud gentleman two seats from me who never learned to use his inside voice and totally ruined vibe. But that's not on the staff. Another note is that gratuity is automatic on the bill.

The aburi-style salmon sushi was one of the highlights for me.. lightly seared, with a soft texture and just enough flavor on top without being overwhelming. The tuna tataki was also fresh and clean, simple but well done.
