mr. Tran came home with Makirrito. First time trying and he always wanted to try it, but I always shut it down because it never really appealed to me. He got the sushi burrito, the poke bowl and bulgogi bento. Everything was not good. Sushi burrito had a piece salmon sashimi with lots of rice and veggies, super bland and broke apart as soon as you eat it. The bulgogi meat was super chewy and the marinade was not good either. Poke bowl had pineapple and I already knew it was going to be bad. The sashimi pieces weren't marinated, but it did have a spicy mayo type sauce. I would say this franchise is catered for healthy sushi, but I won't be back.

Each item was decent in size with good rice to fish ratio and the blow torched salmon? *Chef's kiss* We also appreciate that there were no filler rolls no one really wants (Cali rolls, I'm looking at you ). This may be one of the best sushi party platters we've ever had in the city!

I'm a repeat customer, as I often stop by here after visiting Yorktech Costco. The location is convenient, and the ambiance is cozy with dim lighting and wooden tables. However, the tables are always slightly sticky--I'm not sure if it's a cleaning issue or the varnish. The employees are friendly and efficient. The food has usually been good, but I feel it has declined in quality lately. It seems shrinkflation has also hit this place, with noticeably smaller portions, especially the protein. The ordering process is straightforward, whether using the paper menu or the kiosk. I'm not sure if I will be back...

We love their burritos and poke bowls! They offer signature options that are delicious on their own, but you can also fully customize with your favorite ingredients. Everything is super fresh, and the portions are huge, always leaving you full and happy

Best Takoyaki

We actually randomly stumbled upon Makirrito because we dropped off our car nearby for detailing and we had no place to go lol. We walked all the way to the plaza where Makiritto was located, and decided to stop by for a quick snack. We did not order sushi lol. I'm sure the staff had question marks on his head when we said we just wanted an order of takoyaki XD It turned out to be one of the BEST takoyaki I've ever had. It was nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! It wasn't oily, or mushy, or crazy drenched in sauce - it was perfect :) I would 100% order it again!

This mackerel sashimi was probably some of the best I had! It was so fresh and not as fishy as expected, they loaded everything here. The server was so friendly and nice, she gave us her recommendations which we took for the bowl and burrito!

The place on the outside looks like a hole in the wall. Inside it looks more acceptable. First time trying a sushi burrito. The flavors were great but despite the name it isn't rolled like a burrito and at the end it comes undone and is really messy. Son got the Bento box with chicken. The chicken was dry and the gyoza lacked flavor. Overall meh

For a first time trying a sushi burrito, my experience with Makirrito was overall pretty good. Everything was well put together, and a generous portion of each ingredient. It is a takeout joint with poke bowls, sushi burritos, party trays and sushi rolls. Though I didn't try other options, the sushi burrito was pretty flavorful. It was a little bit on the pricier side coming up to about $15 for a sushi burrito. The toppings were fresh, service was fast, and well made. Perhaps I will be coming back to try their poke bowls or sushi rolls! If you're in the area, why not check this place out!

Mango Tango $13.50 ($15.26 w/tax)

Makirrito is a small restaurant in a medium-sized plaza with plenty of free parking. Their menu is simple with choices of Build your own, appetizers, burritos, poke bowls, special rolls, donburi, sushi, sashimi, hosomaki and party trays. They have bentos available in-store for lunch! This review is based on their Mango Tango Sushi Burrito. At first, I was surprised that choosing salmon cost an extra $4 but then the worker noticed that the price was wrong and refunded the extra cost after I asked for the receipt. The worker was very apologetic about the system error so I didn't really mind. The Mango Tango Burrito cost 13.50 (15.26 including tax) and it DOES include the protein of your choice. You may also create your own burrito but it costs min. $2 more than a regular preset burrito to choose a protein. In addition, you have to add at least 1 topping and they all have a cost per add on. Ie. creating the Mango Tango through customization costs $17.60...which is enough to add extra protein to the preset Mango Tango burrito. The Burrito is packed very well and all the components hold up well while you eat it (for the most part). I liked how fresh and thick the pieces of salmon were but not how short it was (they gave two rectangular cuts). More than half of the burrito was just the spring mix and cabbage. The salmon could've had more length to match the length of the burrito. There were about 4 inches left of one half the burrito and 1.5 inches left of the other half with just spring mix, seaweed salad, rice, and seaweed. The combination of the lettuce, spring mix, mango, cucumber, seaweed salad, carrot, tempura bits, and cabbage worked really well with the salmon and made it very filling. The taste was further amplified with the Mango mayo sauce that they drizzled twice. It was satisfyingly rich, slightly sweet and it really does amplify the flavor tremendously, without being overbearing. They also included a takeout mini cup with packaged soy sauce and packaged wasabi that I appreciated but did not need since it was already very flavorful. It seemed as if the garnishes were only for the poke bowl and maybe it is? When using online ordering, you can only add extra toppings but not extra garnishes for their burritos unlike the poke bowls. It would be nice if garnishes were allowed for burritos as well. The whole experience in getting the order ready took about 5~10 minutes. I would definitely come again for a quick lunch/ food for an outdoor picnic.

Build Your Own takeout!

I have ordered take out here about three times already! The only reason why I'm not giving it a 5/5 is because they got mine and my husband's order correctly to its entirety once... There was a time they forgot the extra seaweed that we asked for and forgot to add in fried onions. The other two times they forgot to add the extra sesame vinaigrette that I requested. Overall I feel like their ingredients are fresh and tastes so clean compared to Poke Guys on Markham. I am extremely happy with the options that they have. The pricing is quite similar to Poke Guys as well. Costs about $15 with tax for a Build Your Own with two toppings. You get unlimited garnish also. It says that you can only choose up to 2 sauce, but when I asked for extra sesame vinaigrette, they didn't charge me anything more. I highly recommend this place!

I read some reviews before deciding to give this place a visit and the one thing I forgot that I had wish I remembered: ask for extra sauce!!! It would have been a game changer. I ordered the Mango Tango burrito but asked if they could make it as a bowl instead and the worker said it'd be no problem. My bf got the Zesty Tang burrito and our total came out to around $30 for both. I like how they give you unlimited garnish options to add in the bowl. Everything was also packaged nicely and neat. They seem to be reasonable with their portions but not enough with the good stuff. I read a lot of reviews saying the same and I found it to be true as well: they put way too much lettuce in. This ontop of the fact that they seem to go very light on the sauces was not my ideal combination. I love my poke bowls saucy and when all the flavours and toppings mix into eachother seamlessly. However, my bowl here tasted a bit too dry and the lettuce was overwhelming. It was hard to mix everything together; at times it felt like I was just pushing the dry ingredients around until I found a wet patch with sauce. The lack of sauce and excessive use of lettuce seems to be a common theme I've seen in their reviews. Overall, not sure I would come back. The workers were nice, everything was packaged well but the flavours in my bowl didn't mend as well as I would have liked due to the unfavourable ratio of toppings:sauce:lettuce. That being said, I think $15 for the bowl was a bit on the pricier side too. My advice if you give this place a visit: ask for extra sauce.

If you're around Woodbine & Denison, and craving for some fresh Poke, I recommend coming to Makirrito! Their menu offers a variety of items such as their signature burritos, poke bowl, Donburi and more. We decided to order the Aloha Salmon, and like most Poke spots, you can pick your toppings and sauces. The poke bowls only come in one size, but it's still fairly big for me. The salmon was fresh, and overall tasted great. However, personally I probably would've preferred more rice as there was a lot of vegetables in comparison to the rice. But definitely will be back to try their other items!

I walked in here with high expectations due to the reviews and the pictures. But the moment I heard Mandarin instead of Japanese my expectations sank a little. Is that racist? Let's find out.. But probably. I understand a lot of sushi bars in the area are Chinese or Korean owned and are usually sub par compared to Japanese owned restaurants like Zen in Markham. But this place is actually quite good as you expect judging from the amount of stars given. I wanted a burrito and I wanted Japanese food so of course I ordered the Zesty Tang ($13.5 +tax) with salmon. I wasn't expecting full flavoured fatty pieces of salmon that were about 50% of the filling in the markirrito but that's what I got! There is a good amount of veggies and a perfect amount of spicy mayo. The tempura bits were a good flavour and texture booster too. They chose the perfect cut of of salmon (probably wild Atlantic salmon) that's fatty and aged enough so that when you bite into it it's easily torn away. You don't have to struggle chewing it to bite a piece off or have an embarrassingly large chunk of salmon hanging off your teeth as you savagely chomp on the flavour log. They've done a great job with everything from the name of the restaurant, the design of the interior and to the food. The service is quick and courteous. I'd definitely recommend this place for a quick to-go hand meal.

Amazing salmon sushi. We torch it at home ourselves and it's so good, both raw and torched! Has been consistently good everytime.

Parking is available right by the carousel or you can go underground by the condo complex. Interior is pretty standard. Nice to see that they have tables available for you to dine-in, but I see most are doing to-go, so nice convenience. Staff were friendly and nice to see they are following health and safety quite seriously when assembling the bowls. Food Their food had always been pretty staple, where you can either select a fixed menu setup or build your own poke with a choice of base/protein/toppings. I also like that they have an option to do salad or soba noodles besides rice as the base. I went for the Aloha Honey Ginger Salmon (crab meat slaw * pineapple * seaweed salad * masago) and Mauna Loa Spicy Shoyu Salmon (edamame * spicy cucumbers * spicy seaweed salad * masago) They've got daily specials too, so it's nice you don't have to break the bank. My daughter has been sharing her fav spots and we are always looking for new spots to try. Komeya came to mind for me to share with her to try out their ramen, which I have never tried before despite getting take out poke bowls for years. We decided to dine in. Warmly greeted by all of the familiar staff that have put our take out orders together and chatted with over the years. I love the cozy set up inside. They have tables and chairs or the window seating with the bar height stools. We ordered both the Miso Ramen and the Shoyu Ramen, Gyoza dumplings and chicken Karaage. The broth was amazing and full of so much flavor. The pork was so tender and all of the ingredients meshed so well with a great balance of vegetables, meat, broth and the noodles. Unfortunately he wouldnt share their supplier name and said they could not sell it to me that way lol. But i did find something similar in the J-town grocery store, just not the same :(. The light sesame dressing , little rice crispies makes the dish. It is served with cherry tomatoes, some sliced cucumbers, pink ginger, edamame beans and corn and of course topped with your favorite sauce. Ive also tried this dish as a rice bowl but prefer the kale noodle as that chew really makes it unique to the Komeya experience. The staff are always so friendly. Highly recommend. Prices have significantly increased over the years.
