We rented four High-End Bikes for my family to ride local trails and The Whole Enchilada. Bikes are well maintained and we experienced no issues or failures during our rides. Each bike will come with a small tool/flat kit. A cage can replace the kit for an extra bottle which we chose to do and out the kit in a Camelback. The extra weight did. It have an effect either. The Poison Spyder Shuttle is affiliated with the shop but not part of the shop. So if you select the 0700 shuttle departure the shop will not be open so you'll have to get the bikes the day before. We also ran into an issue when we picked up the bikes for our first day. We booked a 0930 shuttle with Coyote Shuttle where the pickup was in town. We arrived at the shop shortly after they opened at 0800 and barely made our pickup. The set-up took a lot longer than we planned on so please account for this. Between the paperwork, inspections, and any personal set-up requirements I would account for about 45 minutes +/- 15 for number of bikes your renting. Staff was friendly and very helpful if you have any questions on trails or other concerns. The selections of bikes on the high-end spectrum was also great. I have a dropper post on my personal bike but my family does not. It took them a little time to understand the greatness of this feature. If you are in this position do a little research to maximize your enjoyment on the proper use and techniques of a dropper post. Have a good ride. read more

Swung into Poison Spider to buy a pair of chamois shorts for my wife after our first day of riding in Moab. Tim noticed my bike, a well kept '97 Trek Y-33 in the truck and commented on it. I love that bike and have been very attached to it since purchased new. While it doesn't have all the travel and brawn of the new bikes I felt it was great for me. Tim explained how the new technologies are superior, keep you safer, make riding easier and more fun. With that we decided to demo some bikes which led to finding the perfect new bike for me. I can't even begin to describe the difference in riding, it's a whole new world! The patience and willingness to answer our questions was amazing. I was in Moab for one day on a work trip but wanted to get a couple of rides in while I was there. My rear suspension was fading on my morning ride, so I took it to a bike shop to see if it could be fixed that day so I could ride again later that night. The problem seemed to be more complex as the suspension/damper was failing, and it was labor-intensive to fix it. I asked Tim if there was anything he could do to get the repair done that day so I could ride at least one more time before leaving town. He fit it in and finished the repair so I could get that last ride in. I am appreciative that he understood my challenges and was able to complete the repair. Great job Tim!!!! read more

Rented a mountain bike for 3 days and the seat post never worked (would not go down) which was confirmed by 2 employees when i returned. Out for 3 days in the canyon, but luckily was able to borrow a bike from my group. Would have been a disaster! As bad as the bike that didn't work, was the lecture I received from the bike shop employees that it was my fault for not catching the day I rented. As far as bike shops go-this is one of the best! Scott and his crew have definitely gone above and beyond, they're very helpful, customer oriented and willing to share Moab ride secrets. The store itself is loaded with cool mech/swag equally divided between mens and woman's and all good quality at a reasonable price. If you failed to bring your bike to the coolest MTB spot on the planet or just want to try something new Poison Spider has a plethora of rental options. You can also catch a shuttle with Brian from the shop, like my husband and I did and take the 45 min ride up to Porcupine Rim and ride the sweetest 13 miles of dirt in Moab. I only rode the shuttle to the top of porcupine, but they overbooked and allowed 2 noobs who missed the earlier shuttle a ride up. Not enough seatbelts for the responsible people. I had to basically squat the whole ride in the van up the mountain due to the lack of seating. Not a great thing to do before a pretty intense 21 mile ride. Had the better vehicles for taking a lot of people though, especially compared to coyote. read more

Visited Moab in October 2020 and after doing a number of rides noticed my suspension was sloppy and was afraid my bushings might be broken. Due to the long technical rides was nervous my bike might breakdown 20 miles out and I would have a long walk. Rolled my bike into Poison Spider and they were swamped but a mechanic offered to do a quick safety check and went through my bike. Said my bushing/pivot points needed to be replaced but that they should be fine for my trip and I could get it fixed when I got home. They were backed up with about 2-3 days of work so would not be able to do it for me but the quick professional check gave me the confidence to continue riding and I did not have any problems. Staff wore masks, had a reasonable COVID process, required customers were masks, and were very respectful of the whole pandemic issue which I found unusual in Utah at the time. At the time many towns in Utah did not take any steps to protect themselves or customers but Poison Spider and Moab town in general did. Rented a bike, $100 by the time all the fees and insurance were added up. Put our pedals on the bike, off we went. After the ride, returned the bike, hung around the shop for a while purchasing stuff. Forgot to get the pedals (shop also forgot to return them). Called the shop to ask that they mail them to us, THEY WILL NOT DO IT. NOT EVEN IF WE SUPPLY A POSTAGE PAID BOX. You have to wonder how many customer parts wind up on Ebay with this sort of customer service. Be warned they do not care about the customer experience, they just care about the dollars. read more

Short version: this bike shop got my bike tuned up and shifting better than it ever has before and I wish I lived closer to them. Long version: I was visiting from California and had my chain come off into the spokes pretty bad and after that, the bike wasn't shifting right. Tried adjusting the derailleur myself to get it back to normal and just couldn't get it to shift right no matter how I adjusted it. Took it in to Poison Spider Bicycles since they were right across the street from my hotel and the tech there immediately addressed a bent derailleur being the issue. He bent it back and it was shifting decently but he recommended replacing the shift cable and housing because it was hesitating on shifts. He said it was only $35 so I figured I'd trust him and get it done. Holy crap am I happy I trusted him. My bike has never shifted this well before, not even when it was new. I rode the slick rock trail the day he tuned it and every shift was nice and crisp with no hang ups and no hesitation. I ended up breaking my seat on the trail and decided to get one here because of how awesome their service was. I really wish I lived closer to here because FOR SURE this would be my new go-to bike shop for anything I need. Great bike shop. We rented 2 bikes, they were set up and worked flawlessly. They even came with a comprehensive repair kit that we needed for one of our friends during our ride on Porcupine Rim. During the ride another friend broke his brake lever and they were able to fix it so he could ride the next day. I would rent from them or have them repair my bike anytime. read more

I made my reservation through Amy. She was awesome and extremely helpful. She freely gave me advice on where to go what to do and which bikes to rent. She put my 24 yr old son on a Yeti Sb5+ and me on a Ibis Ribley LS 29r. Bikes were Awesome that's where the praise ends. We arrived on Fri to do our paperwork early so we could get our bikes and go on Sunday. The lady that helped us at the shop was not that friendly and was very unwilling to give advice on trails or recommendations. I soon learned that was their matra. We arranged a trail shuttle as high up Porcupine Rim-LPS Singletrack we could go. This is operated by Or owned by Poison Spider. It rained all night so we weren't positive the shuttle was going up on Sat. Morning when we woke. We knew if it wasn't there were plenty of other trails. We arrived at the shop at 8am to make the 8:30 shuttle. First ones there. I had to ask four employees if the shuttle was going up and finally the owner called and they were. Remember shuttle is owned by Poison Spider. We did our final paperwork and went to pick up our bikes. The lead mechanic was pissed we were there (um excuse me aren't we customers, isn't this what you do) he made a comment to my son "f^*%ing tourists ruining our trails". If we're not supposed to go up then tell us. Your the ones renting us the bikes and taking us up. Needless to say the trail was awesome. Went up with ten other riders and there was no trail damage whatsoever. I think he was pissed that he was going to have to wash mud off a bike. By the way the shuttle driver was great. I just felt that everyone at this place was pissed we were there. The biking down Porcupine was unbelievable. Again Amy was wonderful but this company does not like out of town customers. And for the record we were extremely nice and friendly to them. Maybe we just asked too many questions. I won't be back. There are a lot of shops in town Shirley some are friendly with the same quality bikes. If Amy ran this place it would definitely be different. read more

First off... Russ... Jen... Mike... Javier... you all ROCK!!! Secondly, I've never rented a bike before and Russ and Jen make it really easy to get through all of it. The staff was very useful and friendly and had a great variety of the brands I've always wanted to ride... Rocky Mountain, Pivot... and Yeti, of course. I'm old school and have been on a hard-tail forever and still roll(ed) on my S-Work Team hard-tail. But Yeti... oh Yeti... After talking to Russ about the bike and riding it around the lot/block... I needed to rent it. What a dream!!!!! I ended up renting/buying the Yeti sb4.5c... and the process was made easy by the whole staff... Javier greeted me when I got into town... Mike gave me tips... It's a double edge sword with Poison Spider. Yes, they have nice bikes to rent, but they come pretty dinged up. Then, they make you sign this insane damage waiver, and even if you buy insurance ($5), this doesn't cover anything over $500...so what's the point? As for our bikes, despite giving them our weights ahead of time, I had to retune the suspensions on all of them. Finally, the younger half of the staff are very nice and friendly. The older guys who work there have clearly seen too many posers come through and mess up their nice equipment. Subsequently, they are condescending to everyone, including experienced riders. I would rent from another shop in town. read more

Arriving on Saturday, they were told parents need to be present. Mgr called owner Scott who confirmed this BS policy, with no offer of a workaround. Poison Bicycles is completely overrated; a really cool brand, but the worst customer service or support ever. I rented a bike for my bucket list ride down The Whole Enchilada, and they sent me out on a rig with 1) a broken back wheel, and 2) a "plugged" hole in the rear tire. The tire seal blew within the first mile of my ride (I wasn't even on the official trail yet), so then I was using a tube. Within 20 minutes the "plug" failed and I borrowed another tube from my riding partner. AND, I wasn't provided with the proper tool to remove the rear wheel since it didnt have an axel handle, rather it required a multitool. This tube later blew and the patch wouldn't hold from the sealant all over the tube. Anyway, I found myself stranded on the WE. I called the shop for help, described my situation, and the manager on duty replied "we're not a shuttle company". I explained my situation of no other options remaining, and asked if anyone could bring me a wheel, and he insisted on arguing with me about the wheel and how it was impossible for me to have my problem, then reiterated, "we're not a shuttle company" and I'd have to figure it out. I WALKED with my bike to a road and was able to get a ride to town; took FOUR HOURS. I brought the bike back to the shop, showed them the plug, and the banged up rim, and they still insisted that was not possible, that I was wrong. Bottom line, I can live with the maintenance errors, but this was 100% on Poison Bicycles, and they refused to stand behind their product, or assist me with "my" problem. AND, they would not refund my for my rental for the day. I went to Rim Cyclery three blocks down, and they were awesome, in fact they provided me a NEW bike to rent for tomorrow's ride, and $30 LESS! read more
