Unfortunately, the service we received felt very cold and unwelcoming. The staff answered our questions, but only with very minimal information, and it felt like I had to pry details out of them rather than receiving helpful guidance. There was no friendliness, no real enthusiasm, and no sense that they wanted to help first-time visitors have a good experience. The interaction came across as though they were only interested in completing the transaction. We spent about $350 to rent two bikes, and at that price I expected much better customer service. The bikes may have been fine, but the lack of helpful, friendly service left a disappointing impression.

After researching all the bike shops in Moab we landed on this one due to it being a small business and THE BEST price in town by a mile. I'm so glad we did. The owner was incredibly helpful & a joy to talk to. He made sure we road in the parking lot for a bit to make sure we were comfortable, and gave as a super helpful crash course on the bikes, their modes, and Moab itself. The bikes were in excellent condition and I wouldn't trade this experience for the world!! We road over 40 miles and had the bikes for ~7 hours and they still had TWO bars of battery when we got back. He threw in helmets and a bike lock to keep us safe. However, I was surprised by the additional $20 charge for picking up the bike at 4:30 PM the day before my rental. Since the shop opens at 8:00 AM and closes at 6:00 PM, and the trail shuttles leave at 8:00 AM, it's not practical to pick up the bike and catch a shuttle on the same morning. Perhaps this is standard practice among Moab rental shops, but in my experience renting bikes elsewhere, a "day" rental typically covers a 24-hour period. In this case, I picked up the bike at 4:30 PM and returned it around 4:00 PM the next day -- yet still paid $20 more than the quoted daily rate.

Before booking, I explicitly called their office to inquire about the trail's difficulty. Their representative adamantly assured me that this was an easy, beginner-friendly ride. That was completely false. The trail features rocky, technical terrain. When confronted about this later, management simply pointed to the "intermediate" label on their website, completely ignoring the blatant misrepresentation by their own sales team over the phone. To make matters worse, we were caught in a severe storm. While I understand a standard "rain or shine" policy, we were exposed to active thunder and lightning out on the trail. A competent outfitter would prioritize safety and pull their clients off an exposed plateau during a lightning storm. Instead, because we had to end the ride early to avoid being struck by lightning, Rim Tours hid behind their cancellation policy and refused to offer any kind of refund or credit, claiming the guide deemed it "appropriate to proceed." If you value honest communication and your own personal safety, do not book with Rim Tours. They will tell you whatever you want to hear to get your credit card, and once the tour starts, you are completely on your own.

I had a failed battery, the shop owner made a special trip to deliver a loaner battery till he could sort mine out. Mind you I was 8 miles out of town, but he delivered it to me on a Sunday, amazingly awesome customer service!! Do business with these people, you will not regret it at all!!!
