My son and I rented two electric bikes from Moab Cyclery on our first visit to town. Since it was our first time in Moab, we were hoping for a little guidance on both the bikes and which trails would be best for us. Unfortunately, the service we received felt very cold and unwelcoming. The staff answered our questions, but only with very minimal information, and it felt like I had to pry details out of them rather than receiving helpful guidance. There was no friendliness, no real enthusiasm, and no sense that they wanted to help first-time visitors have a good experience. The interaction came across as though they were only interested in completing the transaction. We spent about $350 to rent two bikes, and at that price I expected much better customer service. The bikes may have been fine, but the lack of helpful, friendly service left a disappointing impression. read more

After traveling to Moab from Central Texas we realized we forgot some MB essentials, at a very fair price for where u are. Not only does this very nice place have everything you could possibly want in biking but their customer service is some of the best I have ever seen in any bike shop. They also are a great place for local trail advice and anything else you might want to know about the area. While we had our own bikes they also are a great place to rent bikes that you would need for Moab's awesome trails. They also have, in my opinion, the coolest and most tasteful bike t shirts and stickers in town. Finally being right next to City Market grocery is very convenient. read more

We had a great time on the trails in Moab. We didn't have our own bikes but lots of bike rentals were available in town. We selected Moab cyclery. The have a good selections bikes and the mechanics setup the full suspension for you so the bike performs as well. On my Santa Cruz everything was working well except for the chain slipped gears with heavy pressure. Still rideable but needs adjustment, chain/cassette replacement. Lots of people rent these bikes, they get well worn. make sure you test the bike out at the shop. If it's popping gears get it fixed it trade bikes. read more

I sustained a substantial injury while biking. While this is obviously not Moab Cyclery's fault, I called them while on the trail for their advice and they offered none and demanded that I make sure I return the bike within the allotted time. Their unempathetic response was especially shocking as it was so directly contrasted by the kind people on the trail that ensured my well-being by offering water, food, and kind words of checking in while I hiked 7 miles back to the trail head and went to the hospital. There are plenty of bike rental companies in Moab - give your business to another place that has humanity and actually cares about their customers. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR BICYCLE TO THESE PEOPLE FOR REPAIRS! They tell you one price and when it's all done (several hours later) it's 5 times higher then what you where told! They play the -- call the customer and tell him something else is wrong to make more money game -- on you while your bike is torn down! When asked for the old parts, the repair guy stated they where in the dumpster, and if I wanted them I would have to go get them!!! Started out as a minor de-railer adjustment and ended up with neck bearings, front disc, and spoke alignment! All I wanted was my de-railer adjusted... This place is a JOKE! My husband and I went on a tour with Moab Cyclery for a "Best of Moab" tour. It was amazing! We are avid road cyclers and have hardly ever mountain biked before and realized after this it is a very different sport (though the cardio helped us!). Our guide, Megan, was the best! She gave us excellent guidance in the technical aspects and was very patient and positive- especially in the beginning when we were figuring things out. She also gave us a great deal of information about the history, geography and nature of Moab. The bikes were very well maintained and high quality Santa Cruz bikes. Our fam had a great time out on the trails today. Our guide, Ike, was excellent. Informative, funny, taught the beginners in our group the basics of technical riding, was encouraging, patient, etcetera. My experience with Moab Cyclery was EXCELLENT!! Everything from booking a MTB rental and the shuttle was seamless. This was a one-stop-shop. The shuttle location was the same spot as the rental pickup, very convenient! It was my first time ever mountain biking and I finished The Whole Enchilada and got back to the shop right around 5pm. When I got there my legs were cramping really badly, one of the team members made sure I had water, another gave me an electrolyte drink. Thank you guys for a great experience! I come to Moab about once a year to mountain bike and play in all kinds of ways. I always use Moab Cyclery when I'm in town, they are my shop away from home. They have gone out of their way to help me out on a number of occasions. I've had to have some things sent to me in Moab and they received them for me, they have always fixed the things that a broke quickly so i could get back on the trails. They have great trail info, great gear for sale and a cool shop dog! They also have a trail guide there named Merrick who runs the tour side of things. Merrick is one of the coolest, nicest people you will ever meet and to go riding with him is something to see. The guy is, in my opinion, one of the best mountain bikers in the country. He spends his life making sure that other people have the best Moab experience (and other places all over the world) possible. He has made a couple of my trips totally EPIC!!! Merrick and the people at Moab Cyclery are the best in town, the only bike shop in Moab for me! read more

Was on a MTB bike trip with the family and my rear shock needed a full rebuild. I called on other shops and no one could confidently say they could do the job, but Michael and Kevin in Service said they could. Brought it in at 2pm on Memorial Day and they had it fixed and ready before close so that I could do SlickRock the next day with my son for his first time before we headed back to Denver. Showed up in Moab on a Thursday morning. Had two hours to put our mountain bikes together prior to taking a shuttle to Telluride in order to ride back to Moab over seven days, Hut to Hut. Dropper post went to shit on one bike, a brake rotor was bent on another, and a brake caliper was jacked on a third. Walked over to Moab Cyclery and found two guys busy fixing a shop full of bikes. They dropped everything and saved the day. Bike Shop karma states, "ye shall provide excellent IPA for all". Done. Seven days later, my babe augers in on the Porcupine Trail 1 1/2 miles from the highway. SAR puts her elbow together and gets us into Moab. I need to pack up the bikes for Bike Flights, but I'm in the ER. The boys at Moab Cyclery save the day AGAIN and pack them up perfectly for a very reasonable rate. I email them the UPS info and two Santa Cruz steeds make it home to So Cal in perfect condition. Boys, you won't ever pay for a beer when I'm in town. THANK YOU!!!! I recently visited this shop during my stay in Moab. I needed them to look at my bike before heading out to ride the trails that morning. Not only was the guy willing to look at my bike right there and then (the place was busy, he could easily have said he didn't have time) he fixed my problem in minutes! As he rode my bike to test the shifting, he noticed I was having issues with my breaks too. I've been dealing with these same issues for MONTHS with the brand new system I paid way too much for in Scottsdale, AZ. It was literally in the shop for a month "waiting for the Shimano rep to replace the defective parts"!! The guy at Moab Cyclery fixed both breaks in 25 mins!!! Professional, friendly, and really good at what they do! I'm sincerely grateful that they were able to fix the issues and I had an epic ride because of them!! read more

I rented two e-bikes two days in advance and was really clear that I needed a small as I am only 5ft2 which the rental guy understood and said that was all fine. The whole point of our trip to Moab was to do the slick rock trail but when we came to pick up the bikes they had given the small away to a rider on a group tour. I wasn't prepared to do slick rock on an e-bike that is too big so am bitterly disappointed. Terrible service. read more

What a great shop. You might expect an operation like this, centered in the Mecca of MTB, to be a bit jaded by the constant stream of "out of towners" coming through their doors, looking for gear and or "local info". Couldn't be further from the truth. Super warm welcome, the whole staff made me feel like a regular. Jacques the GM, was so helpful, I won't go into details of his kindness because then everyone will expect the same largess which cannot possibly be sustained. Rented at Stumpjumper FSR for the missus, and found it to be in perfect working order. She's less tolerant than even I when it comes to I'll-tuned bikes, and she thrilled with the Stumpy. Cannot imagine what the wrench crew must see passing through the doors of their tech area each day, and yet they were very friendly and helpful getting her set up and out the door. Large shop that has great location in the middle of town. Have rented from them twice, because they have bikes that I would like to demo. (carry cannondale, ellsworth, Samta Cruz). Not real happy with the service, the shape the bikes are in. My friend last year rented a Epiphany which had juicy 3 brakes destroyed slx components really heavy wheels and a rok shox dart fork! (That is a crappy fork). I don't care if the epiphany is the greatest bike ever (I own one), but if you put components like that on there it will be no good. And they charged 75 dollars for this bike. If you charge 75 dollars (35 more than CHile Pepper for a Reign 15 more than Rim (for an enduro) it should have top flite components on it. This year I rented a Nomad from them and it had severe problems ( juicy 5 brakes) that squealed when not compressed, heavy wheels, worn slx components and a worn lyric fork (was really boggy because it probably needed to be serviced). I will say their shuttle service to porcupine rim is two dollars less than the Coyote service and they have newer nicer vans. You have alot of choice in Moab, and unless you really want a heavy poorly componented bike for a high price I would go somewhere else. read more

It was our first time mountain biking and we had a bunch of city slicker teens in toe. Jacques was Amazing!!! He was patient and encouraging with the kids. 2 of them pooped out toward the end of the first trail and he helped them get back to the truck to hydrate and rest. Teens! The first trail was easy enough for first timers, and wasn't very long. The three of us who wanted to continue did and Jacques had us try a bit harder of a trail- which was awesome. Beautiful views, some exciting technical parts that Jacques helped coach us on, and a fun downhill at the end. The bikes were high tech and only a year old. Overall it caused us to catch the mountain biking bug and we can't wait to do it again! read more

I bought a 2015 Specialized Camber Comp from this shop a couple months back. The Good: -The price was outstanding. They even knocked a few extra dollars off when I expressed that I was hoping to spend a little less. -The service was friendly and fast. Jacques was super personable on the phone. The bike arrived two days after I'd ordered it. -The bike is, for the most part, intact and functional. The Bad: -The bike has needed quite a bit of work. I did a full tune with a local mechanic I trust and he said that it was pretty obvious the bike hadn't been tuned in quite a while, and wasn't especially well-maintained. There were flakes of metal in the brake fluid, the rear rotor was so thin it required replacement, and both shocks had almost no oil. The front fork damper required replacement. -The components are a bit of a jumble. Some is good (upgraded shift levers to X9) and some not so good (mixed fork components). I don't feel that they were dishonest, but they definitely weren't transparent about the condition of the bike and the amount of work that it would require to function at its highest level. A lot of other shops (like Chili Pepper) do do full tunes before selling off old demos. I should have asked rather than assuming, but it would have been nice to know up front the bike was sold as is and would require significant maintenance. I didn't do poorly for my money, but you should plan on tacking on the cost of a comprehensive tune if you want your demo purchase to perform at the highest level. read more

Used them for a shuttle service. At the end of the shuttle had a bunch of scratches and rub spot on my top tube through the clear coat and into the carbon. Another customer mentioned this at the end of the shuttle, but he had a frame protector on so it didn't damage his bike. Showed the employees when I was done with the ride. They told me to contact manager. Emailed him and he responded by saying they didn't care. No apology nothing. Said can't be held responsible for every little thing. So if having your multi thousand dollar bike scratched to its base is no big deal and a little thing use this company. read more
