Worst customer service I have experienced in some time. The employees show a real lack of regard for their customers.

Awesome shop and service! This was the only shop in town that carries smaller size 29ers. I rented a a Santa Cruz Tallboy 29er and the shop was more than accommodating on setting the bike up to my personal preferences, such as air pressure in the front and rear shocks, shifter and brake angles, seat adjustments, and they didn't blink an eye when I asked for them to switch the brakes setup to moto-style (very important to me)!!! Having the bike setup as close to my bike at home made for a very enjoyable trip! The bike itself was in great shape and the front and rear derailleurs shifted perfectly. If I have a complaint about the bike, its that it had crappy tires on it but being a rental on some of the harshest terrain imaginable, I can understand why. Solid folks. Our friend badly sprained her ankle on the very first trail we started riding. We gave them a call and they came back to pick her up after we carried here out and took her to the hospital. Prior to that the shuttle driver was very helpful and knowledgable as well. Rented carbon frame Santa Cruz Hightower to bike some of The Whole Enchilada. Bike was in excellent condition and was well maintained. I had rented some lower end bikes from another Moab shop for family ride a few days earlier and wished I had used Moab Cycles in the first place. Great T-shirts and hats (make sure you look around before commenting on lack of cool tees) Friendly knowledgeable staff. Will use them again next trip to Moab. read more

Found Robin and Derek to be very friendly and helpful. Couldn't hook me up with a shuttle since I was there in the mid of winter with snow on the ground (and no one riding) But spent lots of time with me, giving suggestions on where to ride etc.. I rolled up close to closing time with a flat on my knee scooter. I'm postop from foot surgery and using this ride while I recover to access the trails. They had a 12" tube in stock and repaired it on the spot. So much appreciation for the rad customer service. Sk8ordie! read more

Kind of whack. Passing thru Moab, Rented one of their cheaper aluminum bikes for two days ($145) got to the trailhead and tire had a big puncture. Went back and got a new tire. Service was pretty subpar felt like I was being treated weird cause I wasn't super knowledgeable about bikes. And huge bummer to spend 145$ and two hours driving back and forth to have to take it back before even riding. I'd go somewhere else. 145$ for 2 days on an aluminum with worn tires seems crazy too-- my local shop is 75$ a day demo for any full suspension. But to their credit they threw on a brand new tire when I took it back in like 10 minutes but still, for that amount of money it's whack to have to do this. And the bike didn't have a dropper-post or a quick release seat??? I don't know why'd you have a bike without a quick release or dropper???.... read more

Huge markup on parts. Visited this shop last week while on vacation. I found the part I wanted in stock, but it was marked up 80% over online store prices. A discussion with the ill-mannered employee at the register made it clear they're intentionally taking advantage of people who want/need to obtain parts the same day. I understand and support a bit of a markup for local shops, but 80% higher???? No way. I called three other local shops while still in the store (Poison Spider, Rim Cyclery and Chili Pepper Bike shop) and all three had lower prices for the same part. Up to 21% lower, in fact. Needless to say, I left and bought my part elsewhere. Won't be returning to this shop again. read more

Horrible customer service. A cycle shop should expect that paying customers are going to have questions about what trails to ride etc...We were told "do you have a phone? Check apps on the phone!" We did one better..we drove down to Poison Spider Bicycle shop where we were treated with respect, got all of our questions answered with kindness and bought about 300$ worth of merchandise! Thanks to the expert guidance of Gina, with Moab Cyclery, we had a terrific ride in Moab last week. The folks there were friendly and helpful, and their bikes and helmets were in great shape. Gina took our family of 4 on a nice, fairly easy ride with great views of the area. There were lots of trail options to choose from. She also gave us good riding tips and was encouraging and patient with those who were a little less athletic (me). We had a very good experience and are definitely planning to return for a longer riding experience with Moab Cyclery. read more

Brought a bike in to let the service guys know that my dropper failed. Let them know that it was serviced yesterday at another shop and told them what they did to try and fix it. That service guys completed the same exact steps and promptly charged for the same repair. Left the shop with a dropper still not working and my wallet short on some cash. Lame. read more

We were in Moab for the weekend on a southwest trip and wanted to do some mountain biking. These guys were great! We called for bikes the morning of and were able to get basic mountain bikes. There was no up selling for premium bikes. Once we got there, they were more than happy to answer our questions. They walked us through the bikes and set us up on them. They offered advice on where to go (my husband is a novice to advance mountain biker and I'm totally a beginner). The rental came with helmets, spare tire, and a bike pump and multi tool to share. We liked the place so much, we bought t-shirts! We'll definitely only rent from them when we come back! read more

Did a guided mountain bike trip with Eric in Dead Horse - it was one of the highlights of Moab. Eric was great, he adjusted the ride to our fitness level (3 city road riders who don't do hills), gave some good background info on the area, and gave us some insights on what else we should do while there. Moab Cyclery was awesome. We had two boys that desperately wanted to go mountain biking. Eric at the shop was quick to respond to my message and made it happen with fairly short notice. He went above and beyond to get our two little guys in the 1/2 tour. Once we arrrives to the shop, we noticed that my little one had a flat. No worries - Eric to the rescue! The everpresent slickrock is hard, the trails are very challenging, and the exciting atmosphere makes beginners and experts push themselves too far. I am an avid mountain biker and I recently bought a bike map from here. I did not find the sales staff helpful in regards to planning my trip. When I asked where there was camping available near where I'd be biking the staff let me know it was my responsibility to know where the camping was. I thought my question in regards to the location of camping clearly implied that I understood my responsibility. They sold me a map but didn't give any recommendations on camping. When I then asked the staff about their favorite trails and if they had a recommendation for me they didn't tell me where they liked they told me that they were all good and stated that since they didn't know my ability as a mountain biker they'd were unable to give me any suggestions. I went to another bike shop and had an entirely different experience. I will never go back there for help or assistance. read more

We're a family of four from the East Coast. Our kids have never ridden a bike on dirt. We scheduled an 8am tour, and had Eric as a guide. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! I am so glad we got a guide rather than trying to rent and go it alone. I was worried at first because there were some advanced bikers on the van with us, but they went off separately with another guide. Eric taught the kids necessary skills. We even went over the same dip a few times so they could practice. When he dialed in their ability, he took us on an appropriate trail. Even better, he stopped at the point where the climb back up would have been too strenuous, and we took an alternate fork back. At one point early on, my 1st grader had a slight slip-up and shed some tears. Eric was prepared with the first aid kit (including Barbie band-aids!) and provided distraction with a plant and wildlife lesson until our son was ready to saddle up again. My kids will never forget the fun they had on this experience. Worth every penny! read more

I will never do business with Moab Cyclery again. I rented a bike to ride the Whole Enchilada, and was never told a time to return the bike. I assumed it was 6:00 given that is their stated closing time. Unfortunately for me, midway through the ride we had two in our group experience mechanical difficulties at several times on the trail, eventually resulting in limping their bikes out on the jeep road. As a result, I did not get to the trail head until 6:00 and b-lined it to the shop. Luckily or so I thought, I caught the last shop worker leaving about 6:30, so I asked if I could leave the bike with him. He was pissy, but eventually said yes, but that they would have to charge me for an entire second days rental even though he acknowledged that they had the bike rented the next day and the mechanic could look it over in the morning. He also informed me that the manager is the only one in the shop that can make the decision on being charged the extra day and that he would call me before running the charge. At this point I thought well if you are going to charge me for a second day without my using the bike maybe I will just keep it for tomorrow. My friend talked me out of it, thinking that leaving the bike would generate some goodwill and I would only have to pay the late charge of $25. I called the next day to be told rather rudely that the manager was not in until Monday but that there was a note on my account to call. Now Monday, I see zero goodwill and the charge of $100 has been run on my card with no call to speak of. Needless to say I am disappointed, this is a group that continually failed to follow through on their word, never acknowledged their own failings in not informing me of the return time and has been pretty unpleasant to deal with in all of my interactions with them from the initial scheduling of the rental up until my conversation with Jacque the manager who was pleasant, but only eventually returned my call once he finally got tired of me calling. In talking with Jacque he was adamant that they didn't send the bike out the following day due to not having had an opportunity to go over it. Ironically, the 5010 that was returned was in good working order and would only have taken a couple minutes to go through, if they had wanted to, but why would they when they knew they would get paid for the days rental regardless. Also if they did send the other customer away without the bike that he wanted, this is all the more reason not to rent from Moab Cyclery. All they had to do was spend a few extra minutes to make both customers happy. Instead he blamed me for their decision citing that they did not have time to look over a bike in good working order. Do yourself a favor and avoid Moab Cyclery. Their staff is unpleasant to deal with and see their costumers as dollar signs not people. After this experience I will go to Poison Spider from now on, because renting a bike for 9 hours at Moab Cyclery is going to cost you $200. read more

This place is awesome. Walked in as a group of ten with no reservations, they managed to rent us bikes and take us out to a great trail; They rocked it. Bikes were top of the line and worked great. They dropped us off in the van around the Bar-M loop, gave great advice on where to go and which circuit to run. Lynn and Sally were helpful and generous. Can't recommend this place strongly enough. If you have never mountain biked in Moab, do a guided tour. If Eric is available, go with Eric. I cannot say enough good things about him and our experience with Moab Cyclery. If you are beginner, you can ride here and have a lot of fun. If you are an intermediate rider and want to push your skill level, this is the place. July is hot there and Eric was more than willing to get started early. Eric also was very good helping my GF, whom had only mountain biked a couple of time prior, ride and enjoy the great trails at Dead Horse Point on our first day. The second day, I was shuttled to the top of Burro pass to ride the whole enchilada. All issues that came up, Eric was able to resolve and helped get me through a tough ride for my skill level. Once back to the shop MC helped fix a couple nagging issues on my bike. The shop techs did a great job and were very quick and knowledgeable. read more

We arrived in the morning to pick up our bikes (after a 6 hour drive from Denver) that we had reserved in advance on their online system. We also had called the shop to make sure the bikes were available. When we arrived, they had overbooked one of our bikes and did not have a suitable replacement. They then tried to fit my wife on a large frame bike (when she should have been riding a small) which of course would not work. They called around and found a different shop that had a medium frame available which my wife made work but was of course not optimal. Not to mention the fact that it was a huge waste of time waiting and driving around to a different shop to get a bike. We then went to ride slick rock trail and one of the bikes they had given us (we rented 3) had a complete back brake failure on the trail several miles in. This was dangerous - the bikes were not checked properly before renting them out. We were forced to leave and return to the shop in the middle of the day which killed our ride, we could not finish slick rock and went to dead horse instead to ride less aggressive trails. This was a pretty big disappointment. I never write reviews but this was a long drive, an expensive trip and had friends from out of town who came out and this was a really poor experience. They offered no discount on anything and did not even seem to care. I really cannot recommend this shop, there seems to be better options in Moab for sure. read more

So this isn't really for the shop itself but the shower service they offer. I hadn't showered in days half way through our camping trip and this was the only place open. The staff was friendly enough but the shower was really gross. The shower floor was grey and black. I felt like I was going to get a fungus by standing there. The shower head had maybe two water sprays that went to my head. the rest were everywhere else somehow. I had to tippy-toe to get my hair a little wet. The shop had really cool bikes though and mad me wish I could shop for one. For the price though you'd think they'd take better care of their facilities :P read more

We ended up in Moab unexpectedly and decided to book a last-minute bike tour. Did the half day trip to Dead Horse Point with Gina. Price was about right, good equipment, friendly/expert staff. Gina is wonderful/fun/charming/patient guide. Really enjoyed her sharing so much solid info about Moab and the surrounding countryside. She related very well to older/younger/faster/slower riders. If you come to Moab, book a trip with Gina. You won't be disappointed! read more

Dropped off my bike for one very quick and minor repair while I kindly offered to spend 98 dollars renting a bike from them. When I brought the rental bike back to pick up my personal bike, I discovered that they went ahead and charged me another $25 dollars on top of the initial $50 repair for a second repair that I did not ask to be done. When I asked for clarification on why they did this, the cashier told me to talk to the mechanics. When I talked to the mechanics, They told me to talk to the cashier. Nobody would take ownership over the unauthorized repair! After spending $150 on a renal and my first repair, they still shafted me on this extra $25 dollar repair that I did not authorize. The only thing they did was comp me $5 dollars as an apology. Do not waste your time with this place. They are very nice at the counter but don't be fooled. They are a bunch of twisted crooks out for your money. read more

We reserved bikes for labor day weekend at Moab Cyclery. The group i was with was tremendously slow and we ended up getting to the bike shop with just a few hours left in our originally scheduled rental day. The people at Moab Cyclery were AWESOME and worked with us to make sure we got a full day of biking in despite our tardiness. They didn't have to do this for us, but they did. Anyways, we ended up getting a full day of mtn biking in on some awesome new bikes and it turned out to be by far the biggest high of the weekend. Mtn biking in Moab is AMAZING to say the least and Moab Cyclery was great in helping us get that experience. read more

Great bike shop! I was just in Moab for a 3 day mission and rented a bike from Moab Cyclery. The Santa Cruz Hightower was perfectly maintained and the staff set the shocks and tire pressure to my weight and style. My buddy had the same experience renting a Santa Cruz Bronson from them. The third guy on our trip rented from Double Down Bike Shop and ended up with a heavy, poorly geared bike with a broken dropper post. I'd highly recommend Moab Cyclery and will rent from them again. read more

Great experience with this shop and the workers here! Found them on yelp after learning I'd be headed to Moab for a bachelor party that included a day on the trails. Called about a month ahead and was able to secure 6 bikes for our group of varying experience. Phone call was pleasant and very easy. Finally get to the shop promptly at 8AM on the day and was greeted by the girl who worked the front counter. She got all the paperwork and shuttles squared away quickly, and payment was easy. The bike shop staff fit each of us on our bike of choice and explained the controls to each rider individually, which was nice since some in our group were new to dirt riding. Each bike also included a helmet and saddle bag with a patch kit which was a nice touch. They also gave us a free trail map and recommendations on where to bike based on the experience level of our group. Their recommendation (Moab Branded Trails) was right on the money as it had trails easy enough to build confidence early on, with options for harder trails along the way. Loaded the bikes onto the shuttle and off we went. The shuttle ride was nothing spectacular, but it was nice to have them drop us off right at the trail head! Overall our group had a great time, the bikes are way better condition than I thought they'd be in (Santa Cruz Tallboy LT's and Scott Genius'). Staff was excellent, friendly, and very knowledgeable. Each of them helped make my trip a great experience with absolutely no hiccups. Would highly recommend! read more

I planned a quick trip to Moab with my sons. I rented two bikes for them. Both experienced riders, I also bought the insurance and rented a rack. $140 later we were off.I had reserved the bikes and was told they would have to pull them from the tour bikes.We arrived at noon which gave us about a half day of riding. We rode Slickrock because of its proximity to town. Within 10 minutes my older son went over the handlebars and had a bad crash. Bleeding and in shock I got him out of there and took him to the hotel to rest. I returned his bike hoping to get some sort of refund. No way! They said that the turn around was the reason and that they would have to put a bunch of time into doing so. The bike was not even part of their regular fleet. Other than a couple scratches on the handlebar it was fine, not even sand on the chain! An $8 refund on the ins. would have been nice. I wont be back. Take what you will from this, but $65 for 10 minutes of riding was a bitter pill to swallow. read more

These guys saved my vacation so definitely need to give them a shout out. Moab Cyclery is the Specialized dealer in Moab. Went in for a derailleur adjustment after replacing a bent derailleur on Slick Rock trail and they found an issue with my brakes. Sram Guide brakes lock up due to a swollen o-ring when the temp exceeds 88F. They were able to swap out the faulty components and bleed the brakes in about 1hr before the shop closed for the night so I could catch an early shuttle to Hazard the next morning. Charged me $50 which is typical labor cost for bleeding brakes. Sweet deal. No issues with my brakes at all for the rest of my rides in Moab and the temperature exceeded 90F every day. Thanks for catching the issue and turning around the fix so quick! No other shops could fit me in in such short notice. Will definitely be back here next time I'm in Moab. read more
