Breakfast potatoes
Sayonara T.

Its a small place but man is it good! The menu has a variety of items, we have only been there for breakfast and it has not disappointed! We usually stick to our usual, steak and eggs, and a huge pancake and breakfast potatoes. The steak is always cooked just right and the potatoes amazing! And the pancakes I mean just look at it. Our server, Ellen, is simply the best. Didn't matter how busy it was she made sure to check on all her tables! A staple in the area for sure, stop by I promise you won't be disappointed.

Point break cafe is a neighborhood favorite dive bar and comfort food diner all rolled into one. it is spacious and has a full kitchen. I was there on a Sunday during brunch and it was very busy. Nonetheless the kitchen is fast and they are pretty well staffed so food came out pretty quick. I tried the number one house omelette, it was a bit of a creamy mess and the pesto cream didn't really have much flavo. There's also supposed to be artichoke, there wasn't much. I've definitely had better omelettes. Overall, if you're looking for a bar or diner in this area, this does the trick.

Hidden gem on Shelter Island. Great breakfast spot ; the wraps and buttermilk pancakes were delicious, the pot coffee was strong. Friendly service from the time we entered the restaurant. The decor was a bit dated but gave it a good, retro vibe. Well done.

Seagull looking for a quick meal on unattended plates...!

Nestled in the heart of Point Loma, this place is not fancy, but is a local favorite, especially amongst the sailors and live-aboards. When I still lived here I was within walking distance and came here to eat at least once a week. The service is usually great and the food delicious. The portions are large and easy to split with your date and both will walk away full. My favorite add on to breakfast is their pineapple coconut pancakes. Delish! Beware of naughty sea gulls who will pounce on unattended plates if dining outside, and be ready for dogs trying to attack each other from under tables. It's Cali. Everyone has to bring their dog... Whatever. Just don't bite me and stare me down while I'm eating.

Wow. What a hidden gem. I walked here from my hotel looking for a sit down American breakfast. They delivered on all fronts: food, ambiance, friendless, and options. I am here dying the holidays and it's decorated in a cozy manner. I love it. Will probably be back again before I go home I got the point break breakfast with egg whites. Exactly what I was after

Popular for breakfast. At 7:30am, only three of us, but by 8am, over 30 people. Had the fun breakfast with French toast yesterday and biscuits and gravy this morning.

No frills hole in the wall place for locals. Don't expect a tourist destination. Decent food with great almost pre inflation pricing and warm service

We stopped by for lunch before leaving Shelter Island, heading out of San San Diego. It was on a Sunday about 2:30 so a weird time. Main reason we stopped they offer free parking lot and others places charge. Other's post in Yelp "Dive atmosphere " it is but there are tables inside or out and bar top with nice staff members. Theresa answered all our questions and brought out a nice cold beer. Tiki Hubby ordered shepherds pie and I had to try the mozzarella logs as great reviews about them. Well I have to say we were not disappointed. Cheese logs had a delicious crispy light crust that was cooked perfectly so as biting into you get a warm gooey soft cheesy stringy taste with a fresh homemade tomato dip. So good I hated to share. I did share tiki hubbies shepherd pie, a really large casserole dish with bubbly hot thick gravy topped with mashed potatoes and cheese. The filling was dark gravy filled with chucks of lamb, peas, carrots, green beans with your choice of a side , so good. See the photos. Delicious and great choices

I love this bar. Not a tourist in sight...Happy Hour menu is amazing, and the bartender is super friendly. It is dog friendly, with "Yappy Hour" all day, every day, with their own menu. Fun place!

The muscle quality was up there. Fish sandwich, fresh, but huge. The poke bowl is large and incredible. The fish is maybe too marinated but the quality is a 10/10. Which is fascinating, because The Good Egg has this very visible sign right when you walk in praising their 2023 Beacon Readers Choice Awards for the area's best breakfast. This is not an award-winning restaurant or experience. The first feeling I had was that the Good Egg reminded me of a hotel restaurant. The ambiance and decor are generic and stale. The team barely gave a good morning when I walked in, and I noticed they had the same nonchalant attitude toward other guests. I will say that that I was impressed with the cleanliness, and the menu is extensive. with breakfast and brunch served daily. The menu features lighter options, like yogurt parfaits and avocado toast, a variety of Eggs Benedict, hearty skillets, classic breakfast plates, omelettes and Southwestern-inspired dishes, such as chilaquiles and huevos rancheros. They also have pancakes, a Belgian waffle and French toast on the menu. It seems the stuffed French toast is popular. There are also sandwiches, wraps, melts and salads. They also seem vegetarian and kid-friendly. But, goodness, the food is quite bland. It has no soul in it. I will say that the bacon is outstanding. But all else -- underwhelming.

What do you do when you have to get to the San Diego airport at 4am for a flight but want a good…read moremeal before turning in early? 1. You stay close to the airport. 2. You find a local joint with a happy hour and good food. 3. You don't expect excellence. I came here tonight with that in mind and got more than I hoped for. $1.50 oysters anywhere are great and these were a joy. While the menu suggested small or medium they were bigger, flavorful and fresh west coasts you'd pay triple for. Discounted California wines didn't hurt either. Then there was poorly described "herbed gnocchi in cheese sauce with bread crumbs". The author of the menu should be disciplined. This is the equivalent of describing the Sistine Chapel as "colored painting on wall, some nudes". This dish was so much more than that. Sliced Serrano peppers and greens topped off one of the best gnocchi dishes i may have ever had stateside or in Italy. Really. Rewrite that. Consider starting with the statement "this small dish may sexually arouse you". All for a happy hour in desperation of a good nights sleep, red-eyed rise and a longing to return. Then there's the service. Eduardo. Perfectly responsive, friendly as all get out and whatever his base salary is he deserves more. But maybe the place is dirty. Or boring. Or not worth looking at. Nope. From the nautical decor to the California topography inspired floor plan to the darn view of sail ships and helicopters. It's a sight to behold. But it's not all happy. Upon leaving I noticed the tribute wall. The genius who started this treasure DIED 2 years after opening it. Managed by his family. The whole experience started with a need, continued to a surprising joy and ended in sadness. I hope he knew what a joy he built and what a joy it is today.
