Let me take a moment to say- AYDA IS INCREDIBLE! I went in with dry, congested, and tired skin and came out with smooth, hydrated, and glowing skin. She listened to my skin concerns and didn't judge me when I told her I recently ate LOTS of cheese and wine (skin not happy). She is incredibly knowledgable about her skin products and works magic in mixing and matching products for your specific skin concerns. Every facial is customized, totally worth the money. Plus, I really appreciated her educating me on which products were used and why she used them. I like to know what works well on my skin! Ayda is so nice. I saw Amanda for my out of control eyebrows this month and I feel pretty good about going back. I had been doing my own eyebrows since I was a teenager, and I pretty much got sick of screwing them up (haha). I made an appointment online (which by the way has a great reminder system). The location is really nice and smells so good. It's very clean and professional yet chic. I told Amanda about my eyebrow history and told her what my goal was and she explained exactly what she was going to do. All I had were compliments for her. She's speedy and experienced, the waxing was literally painless. After it was done I couldn't believe that THOSE were my eyebrows. She told me how to take care of them until the next time I see her, and I already made my next appointment. I went to Poe Brow studio for 2 appointments but that was it. I really enjoyed my first experience and my brows came out really nice - good arch, fullness intact, and very cleaned up. However the 2nd appointment went just OK. Initially I didn't really get a chance to see how the brows really looked since I got a tint and a wax my 2nd time around, so when I left everything was filled in and looked fine. However once the tint washed off, which was like a week - my brows without any fill did not look that great. The left side brow looked thinner than the right side brow. This was disappointing because for the wax and tint all together was $50+. 4 stars because there wasn't consistency with the quality of the job the 2nd time around, but Amanda herself is a very sweet and pleasant person and the atmosphere of her establishment is very quaint. read more

Victim of teenage-through-present-day over-plucking, I was looking for a studio that would encourage and support my attempt to grow my brows back in. Having gone to a beauty/name-brand brow bar on and off for several years and leaving with more product than shaping, I knew I needed a different approach. Enter Poe Brow! I was heading out of town for 2 months and knew I'd be pushing the "au natural" (aka Yeti) envelope if I didn't do something soon, so I texted the studio for a last-minute appointment. I was easily and promptly scheduled with Mylissa. She was personable, professional, and completely understood my brow intentions. Amanda has been doing my brows for years and, if you know about her, she is the queen of eyebrows! I just visited her new space (which is LOVELY!) and tried the Dermalogica facial. Because the treatment is very results oriented, I wanted to target skin pigmentation issues. I came out with a glow that I hadn't experienced in years and, all through the week, I noticed as the quality of my skin continued to look brighter, clearer and more even. I have seen at least 8 brow artists in my lifetime since I was 15. Needless to say, the girls at POE are the best in the bay, hands down. I first went to visit Amanda when she was in Walnut Creek, and followed her to the new location in Berkeley (which is absolutely adorable - they really care about their ambiance at POE and it shows). I absolutely loved every bit of the experience from the consultation to regular appointments, and my eyebrows looked better each time. I also got a facial from Amanda and she taught me everything I needed to know about my skin and how to take care of it since am I super new to skincare. Amanda is super busy (of course! she's AMAZING!), but I needed a brow appointment stat. I went to visit Mylissa (still at POE) because it was the closest appointment that fit my schedule. Mylissa. is. my. homegirl. LOVE HER! She really keeps my shape and there is no unruly brow hair left unmanaged or behind. My eyebrows and skin have never looked better than in the hands of Amanda and Mylissa. I am going to go back to Berkeley from Antioch forever and ever for my facials and brows, as long as I can. read more
