I got my mom's eyebrows done here. I wanted to support a black business and I had also gotten my eye brows done at Moi and they turned out okay, not great, okay. Unfortunately, the owner is super unprofessional and does shady business. My mom left the first visit with half an eyebrow and an ugly weird shaped eyebrow. We were concerned but my mom said that the owner, Renaye, said she would fix it and finish her eyebrows when she comes back for the touchup. We went back for the next appointment about 2 months later and of course it took like 4 hours to complete and she was working on multiple clients while my senior mother waited. When she was done she took $70 dollars from my senior mom and then sent her outside to get me to pay the rest of the bill. I was confused because I thought that the service was complementary considering she didn't do a good job the first time but she said it's $75. I wanted to just understand how her business works and she explained that she gave my mom invisible strokes that we couldn't see. I'm like okay. Then she got an attitude just because I was asking questions to understand and took back the card reader and changed the price to $100. I was confused because she just said it was $75 but apparently if you ask her questions about her service she adds charges to the bill. When I got to the car I was like she made me pay $100. My mon was like no she didn't and that's when I learned my mom had already given her $70 in cash. Renaye is a thief! Taking money from seniors and then over charging me. I called her on my way home to give her the opportunity to do the right thing and she did not answer my calls. I will be finding a new place for my mom and I moving forward and I suggest you do the same. Support black businesses but not if they are going to be ghetto, unprofessional and steal from their customers. She literally doesn't finish the eyebrows the first time so you have to go back in two months and pay her more money to fix it. She is a horrible person and a fraud that can't do eyebrows. read more

I recently tried Moi Lash Spa and was very disappointed in their service, quality, and prices. Prior to coming to Moi, I had gotten a full volume set at a great salon in Oakland that had some remaining lashes - it lasted one month, and my lashes looked incredible at Burning Man, in the extreme heat, sweat and dust. And it was time for a refresh. Moi charged $30 for lash removal, and I came back the following day for a new hybrid set. Within 3 days, I had a bald spot on one eye and within a week, only 1/3 of the lashes applied remained. And for the first time ever, I used the foam lash cleanser and brushes they provided as part of their "after care." In total, I paid $294 for lashes that didn't even last a week. Usually, lashes of good quality that are applied properly last 2.5 weeks at a minimum! Rather than apologize for the poor product quality and service, they requested that I pay an additional $50 for a fill on the one eye that lost all its lashes. This has never happened to me in 4 years of getting lashes, and the lash tech seemed genuinely apologetic and embarrassed by the poor results. Ownership, however, insisted on trying to extract even more money. Save your money and time! These lashes won't last. $300 is not worth a 3 days of proper lash extensions. I was excited to support a local business, but I will be making the drive back to Oakland where the lash salon in my old neighborhood stands by their product, and fixes mistakes when it's the right thing to do for customers. My last set was $185 and lasted nearly a month in extreme conditions. Brow & Beauty on Grand Ave has much better service, reasonable prices, and higher quality products. read more

This was my first time trying lash extensions. I was a bit nervous about allowing the glue/chemicals to be used near my eyes and about the result looking unnatural, but Chakay put all of my concerns to rest. She is very professional, knowledgeable, and meticulous. The end result looks amazing! Not overdone at all and you can hardly tell they are fake. She also takes the time to explain how to get the most life out of the lashes and includes a little care kit with your appt of a full set for your first time. I will definitely be back and highly recommend her! Oh, also, I was running late and parked at the paid spaces in front of the business: the appointment for a full set took about 2 hours and my meter was running out and she had change handy and even took care to make sure I didn't get a ticket. First things first. When I made my appointment, the woman who called me back promptly, was friendly and expeditious. Turned out to be the owner, Renee, who ultimately did my "natural lash" lash extensions. I was nervous, I've never had extensions and I wasn't sure what to expect. I might not have even gone for it, if it wasn't for the lash emergency happening on my face! I feared my lashes might be too sparse to be saved! The moment I walked through the door, I had a good feeling. The music was calming, but not in a cloying way. The space is visually pleasing and spotless. The best there is, my lashes always look natural. She is extremely into lash care. If your lashes aren't strong enough to sustain a super long lash, she won't do it. I had a reaction to the adhesive and Renaye told me if I kept having the reaction she would no longer put lashes on me!!!! She shopped around until she found one that worked for me.
