Boba was chewy. If I had to pick a small thing it would be that it seemed like it could have been cooked the slightest bit more. One of my favorite boba places in Berkeley! I love that all the ingredients are natural, and you can see the workers using fresh fruits to make your drink right behind the counter. The shop itself is super cute, and the staff are always so helpful and friendly. They even offer to make adjustments if you don't like your drink. The drinks taste so fresh and look very aesthetically pleasing, and you can even get it in a glass jar to keep. Plus, if you bring your jar back, you can get 10% off your drink, and I think it's great that Plentea is making an effort to be environmentally friendly! Ecstatic that we have one on this side of the bay!! I've always wanted to try this place, but I didn't wanna go out of my way to SF just for it. Although, I should've!! If it weren't for spring break, parking would be a nightmare. I hate trying to find parking around here! But luckily that wasn't a problem today because school is not in session. It's a small, modern, sleek spot. There isn't an where to sit, so this is not a good place to hang out with friends. It's a take it to go and hang out somewhere else type of place. That's fine with me too! Soo many drinks to choose from and they all sound soo good. The girl was really helpful by breaking down the menu to my niece and I. It also helps that they have a specials section. My niece got the roasted oolong milk tea with boba which she really liked. I always see the matcha latte pictured on yelp, so I went for that. It was really refrshing and has the perfect level of sweetness. Only thing I regret is not gotten boba in it. Honestly, I was super duper excited when I heard Plentea had opened a new store in Berkeley. This place is the one boba place in SF that I would ever frequent just to get their Caramel Ice Milk. Plentea is a bit on the expensive side but if you use the 15% off 2 drinks in SF it was more affordable and if you reuse your glass bottle your drink is 10% off. I came here the 2nd day of the soft opening and the line was out the door but probably only a 15 minute wait so it was not terrible. It's also the opening so I cut the workers some slack for being a little slow. I got my regular caramel ice milk. I think it's pretty comparable to the location in SF but probably a little less creamy. My friend got the sea salt coffee and it was super strong. He did not enjoy it and I didn't enjoy it either. I heard many people here also had a bad experience with the matcha latte and the oolong creama. Overall, I would say stick to the caramel ice milk and the brown sugar ice milk but I will be back to try some more flavors now that it's so close to where I live! read more

This place is kind of hidden to be honest. It's like in a small plaza area and its located on the street side so you kind of have to look for it since there is not really a sign that says, "PLENTEA" Service:: Decent service except it took the two staff members to realize that they had customers and after they took their orders they continued to have conversation. When one customer had a question about something, he had to interrupt the staff members conversation and they looked displeased and a bit annoyed to be honest. Drinks:: I ordered the Peach Green Tea with 25% sugar along with lychee jelly and chia seeds. First glance it comes in a glass bottle (that comes with a top) that has their logo "Plentea" on the side. I would say it's a unique way of serving their bubble tea compared to other stores. However they do charge a little more for their bubble tea because of the bottle. The two male staff members were extremely friendly and helpful. Their normal standard of sweetness is significantly lower than other boba shops, but I don't mind at all! Our niece and nephew came along and we all had a hard time finding this place because Google map kept sending us in the wrong direction, but thank goodness we eventually found it after we decided to stop paying attention to Google. The two young ladies who were working that night were both very friendly and patient with us because we weren't sure of what we wanted since it was our first time there. We ordered 8 drinks altogether. I had the lavender limeade. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was made with club soda. At first, I thought it was a little weird; but after a few sips, I actually thought it was pretty good & interesting. Very refreshing and healthy. Joshua and my nephew both had the nutella milktea, which they thought were pretty good. My sister had the house blend black tea and said it was just ok. My niece had the strawberry banana smoothie, which she said she really liked. Overall, I think the drinks are probably a 3 or 3.5 stars, but the service was extra accommodating so I decided to bump it up to 4 stars. I HAVE FINALLY FOUND YOU. After years of scouring the Bay Area for a boba spot, Plentea is a Godsend! I'm pretty particular about tea and boba and have been a longtime fan of Asha. But Plentea is now my favorite boba place in the Bay Area due to its location, fresh and delicious drinks, use of only natural ingredients, their huge study space at the back, and being environmentally friendly! Totally in love! I've tried most of the popular drinks: 1) honey lime green tea --they crush the limes in the honey on the spot!! 2) Nutella milk tea 3) TARO SMOOTHIE so so gud Tip: Cold drinks are given in glass bottles, if you bring it back, they'll give you 10% off your next drink! They also offer glass bottles and I've been getting them every time I come here. There was another drink I tried but I forgot the name but it was okay. I personally prefer the Sea Salt Creama Oolong. LOL, another milk tea/ boba tea/ bubble tea location in Berkeley. You'd think that with such a high saturation of sugar (there's even a Tea 1 on campus now!), the NIH needs to do national study on the health of studies in college towns. Nevertheless, I was really surprised that this Plentea location, situated right next to the Channing/Durant parking structure as well as the Unit 3 dorms, has received such negative reviews from customers. I mean, the San Francisco branch wasn't doing THAT well in terms of overall rating, but a 2.5 average rating for this new spot is pretty sad (though with less than 100 sample size). My friend eagerly encouraged me to check out this Plentea, and even though I am not a huge fan of milk tea (I would get -10% sugar if I can), I knew this would be a great opportunity to write about. Unlike Sharetea and Ucha, the line at this Plentea was pretty short. My mentee and I walked right in around 2:30pm and we were already right at the counter. My friend (Donald) was working at the time, so it was cool to say hi to him. If you look on social media sites, Plentea is known for its cute glass bottles. It really seems like if you want to succeed in the tea business, you either have to 1. have a nice tasting drink or 2. be Instagrammable (better if both). Looked like Plentea excelled in the latter, but how about taste? I got the jasmine green milk tea with boba and the total was around $5? I know people have complained about the price, and I understand that it can be outrageous. But come on, you are paying for the experience and don't forget the instagram too. If you want a cheap product, it's honestly best to make it at home (it will taste better). Anyway, my drink actually wasn't that bad! I was afraid that the negative reviews would prime/bias my expectations, but I thought that the JGMT was super refreshing. It tasted exactly like I would have wanted it to taste like - some would say it wasn't sweet enough, but it was perfect for me. Protip for customers: I've heard that you can change up the milk options when you order, but I was also strongly discouraged not to do so. Plentea recently had a tea tasting event where they promoted their use of natural fruit syrups made from fruit preserved in cane sugar water, their use of cane sugar over high fructose corn syrup, and their many options for "milk", including powder creamer, whole milk, half and half, almond milk, and silk soymilk. This place will be adding a lounge soon to provide more seating to its customers. The main issue with this lounge is that it's not connected to the main store. For example, you order the tea, leave the shop, turn right, and head down the alley to find the lounge area about 2-3 stores down on your right. For new visitors to the lounge, it may be a bit of a scavenger hunt. Of course, the staff are aware of the unique structure of their Berkeley shop and are working on methods to better direct their customers to the lounge. Why the 3 stars though? I guess that aside from the cool glass bottles that come with a cold drink purchase and their healthy approach in teas, this place doesn't seem to stand out to my taste buds as a memorable flavor from other boba shops that use natural ingredients. The glass jar was free I think and every time you return with it, you get ten percent off. However, I've been there twice for a coffee milk tea and the matcha latte and both times I left over $5 poorer. Service is relatively efficient and polite but here are a few problems with Plentea: - hard boba: the boba became hard over the hour I was slowly drinking my tea while studying. Maybe I shouldn't nurse my milk tea with boba, but I never had that problem from other boba places like TeaOne or sharetea. - expensive: more so than Asha or sharetea. I spent around $5.30 every time for tea and boba when other places are over $4 but under $5. - it's not differentiated. Plentea is hipster and expensive, but so is Asha; they only have milk tea while places like sharetea and TeaOne have those too; and finally, there are other cheaper boba places around the block which has the inexpensive branding part of the boba scene in Berkeley. - less tea? I feel like the bottle Plentea uses has less actual tea liquid than sharetea or TeaOne. I could be wrong, but I feel like the bottle is main draw and I feel that it holds less tea than other places. Lines can get long but it's worth the wait. I went when there was a tea tasting which was an amazing idea especially for people who are not familiar with their drinks. I love their infused teas and i like to add chia and lychee jelly to my drink. This combo is so refreshing! They even add a bit of the fresh fruit. One of the new boba spots that opened up in Berkeley, everyone knows Plentea for their signature glass bottle that you get to keep for free. Came to try out the new Plentea that just opened up in Berkeley with some homies, and it's pretty convenient on Durant right along Telegraph where students go to and from class. Located right next to Unit 3, it's a small shop under the parking structure but no seats inside so don't expect to hang around and chill with your homies. The menu is slightly smaller than the San Francisco store and is only selling several drinks so far. Me and my homies each got a drink for a price ranging around $4.50-$5.00 but what can you expect for a free glass bottle. I tried the Sea Salt Oolong Crema and it wasn't my favorite drink. The Sea Salt Oolong Crema wasn't as sweet as I thought it would be but the salty Crema part did just fine. Was hoping for some more milk tea choices but my drink didn't satisfy. Since it was their first opening, hope they improve on their drinks and selections. It was a good shot but might have to stick with other choices around for the boba fix. read more

I feel like the appeal of plentea is in the cool glass bottles and punny name. But the thing is, no one is going to carry that bottle around unless they're coming from home and going straight to plentea for tea. Having to buy the bottle over and over isn't really worth it, and it starts to build up at home. Also, the store layout is a bit awkward since there's only one way in and out and there isn't much space doe the waiting customers and the purchase line. With that said, Plentea does give you a good selection and the ability to adjust each drink as you please. To me their 50% isn't sweet at all so if you're looking for a sweet drink I would say try 75 or 100%. It is fun to watch the employees make it though, especially the matcha! read more

I usually ask for 50-80% sweetness at other places, but here I would recommend no adjustments or even perhaps more sweetness. CARAMEL ICE MILK - 5/5 Usually, I think the ice milk drinks are WAYY too sweet (For reference, I get 50% at Purple Kow, 80% at U-CHA, etc.), but it's actually perfect without any adjustments at Plentea! While in line, i almost left because I started reading the Yelp reviews. Despite the terrible reviews, i wanted that god damn glass bottle, so I stuck with it. Based on the reviews, I stayed away from the Sea Salt creama even though that would've been my initial choice based on intrigue. I decided to go with the Oolong milk tea with tapioca. The cashier was a bit rude and not too patient with my questions about the milks and the creama etc. but I eventually decided to go with half & half for my milk. However, the barista made up for the cashiers rudeness. She called out my name and told me to taste it and let her know if the sweetness was okay. It was actually pretty good and she waited for me to tell her that to make sure I liked it. She also gave me and my friend samples of the Caramel Ice Milk blended drink and it was good! I think this place got off to a bad start, and while it may not live up to the HYPE, my drink was pretty good and I think they are really trying to improve their customer experiences.
