    Wow...
    Jacqueline F.

This review is not because of the milk tea. I never got to try it. I wanted to but when I went in there, there was a guy at the counter on his phone. He's the dark figure in the picture. He didn't move from that position the whole time I walked in. That's weird because when I worked retail, I put my eyes on everyone who walked in. Safety measure... He clearly worked there and was ignoring me big time. A woman came out from the back did something and went back behind the closed door. Again, no greeting or acknowledgement. So, they either 1. don't serve black people 2. hate their jobs so much that they aren't even trying 3. related to the owner/manager and can get away with doing nothing 4. he is so addicted to his technology that he can't bother to do the most basic requirements of his job The place was nice and clean, but if no one is eating or ordering from them, that could be a reason. No service, no sales, no need to clean. But it made me sad because I grew up in the area and in high school spent every summer taking classes at UC Berkeley through a high school program. While in college, I came to UCB to use the library or to attend the statewide meetings for an organization that I belonged to. I have never gone into a place in that area and not been greeted. Actually, there was one experience that I wrote about, but that happened within the last five years and the store owner reached out to me to tell me that they let the person go. I don't like or want to spend money with people who don't acknowledge my existence. And there are too many boba places in the area to want to hang all of my boba hopes and dreams on them. And when they close, I will be there.

First off, love the bottles. Secondly, the boba drinks were pretty good. All of the flavors we had didn't disappoint. Staff was very welcoming and courteous. Value is good.

This Plentea is located close to UC Berkeley and they are one of the many boba spots in this vicinity. Parking is a bit difficult in this area, but they are located right outside of a parking garage. There is only one kiosk to order from, so sometimes it may take awhile to order and there are usually only 2 people working, so drinks may take awhile. My friends wanted to their glass bottles, so we stopped by. We ordered their Jasmine Milk Tea with boba & grass jelly, Mango Green Tea with lychee jelly, and Matcha Smoothie. My milk tea was not sweet at all even at their recommended sweetness level, 100% sweetness. We all thought our drinks were watered down as well.

Went here twice and both times got the strawberry fruit tea in hopes it'll be different because I love it anywhere else, but it just tastes watered down flavored strawberry. First time was normal ice, normal everything but watered down and the second time I thought it'd be better with less ice and it tasted even more watered down. I don't like my beverages overly sweet but this didn't have much flavor. The Nutella Milk tea was okay!

Came here for my first boba in monthsssss. Ordered the roasted oolong milk tea. - Order and pay using the tablet on the counter - Service was quick (came here on a Saturday afternoon and there was no line at all) - Tea was flavorful and not too sweet - Shop was quiet (minus the staff member and her friend talking)

Came with some friends and got Matcha, and Taro. By far best prices and love the fact the drink comes in a glass bottle. Service is fast but I've never went while it was busy so can't really say how fast it would be at that point but I'm super satisfied, love the place, and love the drinks. Definitely worth checking out.

Didn't realize we have Plentea here in East Bay! They (used) to make a really killer grape fruit tea with cheese crema. The secret really was them leaving some pulp in the drink for that extra flavor. Unfortunately, we watched her filtered it all out. Anyway, very typical boba experience where we ordered through the little kiosk and wait for our drinks. The drinks didn't take long either. I prefer SF location fr the flavors, but the Berkeley location felt much safer.

    Carmel Smoothies with Boba

A solid boba shop that uses fresh ingredients. The Caramel Smoothie with boba was our family's repeated favorite. I could see why. It could easily become too sweet, but it tread the line perfectly well, being tasty, creamy, and not too sweet. I ordered the Grapefruit bubble tea, and I LOVED that it was made with real grapefruit juice where you could feel the texture of the pulp. This boba tea could easily fall into the syrupy sweet trap, but, no, it emerged victorious! When we came in, it was a bit later. There was no one else in the shop, but the employees moved quickly and made sure our orders were made well and quickly. I appreciate the business' commitment to reusable cups and more boba shops should be similarly proactive.

It was my first time trying boba at this spot and the staff was friendly. I ordered the Plentea special, which tasted like a mix of Oreo and hint of mint. Which I found to be delicious the boba pearls had a nice chew they weren't hard like some places. I also ordered takoyaki, they were made fresh and tasted good. I found it different than other boba spots because they offer glass containers or plastic.

jasmine milk tea - i got this 75% sweet but it didn't really have much taste despite its sugar level. it tasted really watered down and the boba was not memorable. the only appeal is that the reusable bottle comes at no upcharge but otherwise i wouldn't come for the drinks itself there are a few seats inside but more for waiting rather than sticking around to hang out - the place is pretty small

Hella good trust, it's a nice cozy and underrated spot. Every time I'm on Durant I go here. Food is hella good and the service is great.

i got the passion fruit green tea and it's super refreshing i would definitely recommend! I love how you can choose to get a reusable glass jar without an up charge, so environmentally conscious! service is fast and efficient

It was barely sweet, 50% is the lowest sweetness you can set for this drink. I was disappointed by this one as I felt the tea and floral flavors could've been stronger, it really just tasted of honey. Large chocoberry bliss, warm, 50 sweet (which was the recommended sweetness): It's a non caffeinated drink and can only be hot or warm. It tastes of dark chocolate with strawberry. It reminded me of hot chocolate but with a strawberry milk flavor, I liked it and would recommend trying it when it's in season if you enjoy sweets and chocolate in particular. Cheese creamer black tea, no ice, 0% sweetness, large cold: The tea is truly bitter when at 0% sweetness, which is what I intended. A generous thick amount of creamer on top. It doesn't mix easily with the tea. Note that on Snackpass, they add another $0.25 onto the price of your drink for "city cup fee" - referring to City of Berkeley's fee charged for plastic drink cups. I have found they're usually pretty fast at making the drinks and they may be done earlier than what Snackpass estimates. Sometimes you may need to get the attention of one of the workers as they can be occupied working and aren't always at the counter looking at you.

Their strawberry matcha is also delicious, with a fresher, juicier strawberry flavor than a lot of other spots. I would honestly give this location 5 stars based on the drinks and regular barista interactions alone, but my last experience was really off-putting. I noticed that people often study there with laptops, so I came in with mine and brought a small lunch from Oori down the street to make a morning out of it. I've done this before without issue, but this time, a woman with crazy eyes who seemed to have a higher role came out and very abruptly scolded me, saying, "You CAN'T eat outside food here," while aggressively pointing toward the door as if I needed to leave immediately. I completely understand having a no-outside-food policy, and I would have had no problem following it if it had been communicated respectfully. But the way she approached me felt unnecessarily harsh and honestly pretty upsetting. I apologized right away, packed everything up in a panic, and left. After processing it, I realized how inappropriate the interaction felt for something that could have been addressed with a simple, polite reminder. Overall, Asha has great matcha, a cute space, and friendly baristas, but that experience really left a bad taste in my mouth. Just a heads up: the drinks are good, but you may want to be careful about bringing outside food in, because the policy might be enforced in a pretty unpleasant way.
