Service was great as our waiter always checked back with us regularly. However, I'd say the food was pretty average, not too bad but not that great. Got the pork taco trio and while the pork itself was good, I'm not sure I agree with the pineapple chunks that go with it. Prices are fair. Overall, a decent but ultimately forgettable Mexican restaurant. Can't say it made me want to come back. read more

The cheese is amazing, but overall, everything else was pretty average and forgettable. The enchilada sauce was pretty bad by the way. Just saying. Anyway, if you want good Mexican food, go to a Plaza Azteca, Puerto Vallarta, or Guadalajara restaurant. These are the places that I've tried that have had great Mexican dishes! read more

Worst customer service by a manager that should be doing dishes. I'm not sure what his problem is but I would not patronize this establishment for that reason alone. It is not worth dealing with him plenty of other Mexican restaurants that appreciate their customers! read more

It was a quiet week night. not crowded, and seated quickly. Waited longer than it should take for water and menus. Ordered enchiladas, tacos and burrito mexico. There were 4 of us. Everyone was disappointed in the flavor, "plain" was used a lot. Burrito was cold on the inside. Didn't send it back for more microwave. No sense in that. Shame, because there are good Mexican places just down the road. I will drive past this one from now on. read more

Excellent food, excellent service! I ordered nachos supreme they were great....friendly staff, and theres usually not a long wait. There are other great thriving mexican restaurants in bel air, but Id rather support the little guy and go here! read more

I used to like this place....I would eat there about once a week for lunch. The past 3 times in a row have been horrible, with the last visit being the worst and last visit ever. I walk in and no one greets me. They are blaring rap music, over the restaurant's Mexican music. About 5 staff are just standing around singing/rapping(or whatever you want to call it) and just staring at me. So I am seated and order because I know what I already want. No change in the music or staff hanging out rapping loudly to the music. At this point, I am done. My food comes and I ask for it to go. The waiter asks me why....uh...well, you would think he had a clue....I asked him if the place is a night club now. Mind you this is 3pm in the afternoon in the middle of the week. He looked surprised when I said the rap music was too loud. They finally turn it down. At this point I thought, fine, its quiet now, I will eat my food and go. Then, in a very empty restaurant, they seat a couple with 3 small children RIGHT NEXT TO ME. I COULD LITERALLY HAVE EATEN OFF OF THEIR PLATES THEY WERE SO CLOSE. You guessed it, THE KIDS ARE WHINING, PUSHING EACH OTHER, THE PARENTS DON'T CARE, THEY ARE HAVING MARGARITAS!!....I'm usually a pretty laid back person, but WTF???? They need new staff/management. I obviously won't be back, ever....and that's only the story of my last visit... read more

Food is good but service by the host is terrible. 2x I have been there in the past month. Host sits us and doesn't tell the server we are there. We wait 15+ minutes and no server. We have to go to the front desk to ask for someone to take our order. read more

We love Plaza Mexico for dine in but this review is regarding carry out. Placed an order online through Yelp/Grubhub for pickup. I selected from the options available for kids meal drinks and also asked for rice instead of fries for the kids meal. I received a message after ordering that the drink that I selected (Mexican Jarritos) was $2.99 extra and I replied back to please just give me sprite instead. That was ignored and I was charged extra for the soda that the online ordering service said cost $0 extra. In addition to this: we still got fries, one item that was supposed to come with beans and rice only came with beans, no ketchup provided with chicken tenders (even though this was requested), chimichangas were dry, street tacos were dry, burritos were dry. When my husband picked the order up there was a lot of confusion about the order because they didn't know you could order pickup through Grubhub. Finally, we ordered 5 meals and the amount of chips we were given was a half of a bag - enough for 4!people to have about 5 chips and the 5 person to have a bag of crumbs. No option to order extra chips and salsa online. We will continue to visit in person but for carry out we will go elsewhere. read more

Taco Bell tastes better than this place. Bathrooms were dirty and food didn't taste good. Not going back.

Went there shortly after it opened. Food and atmosphere was boring. Needs less of a cafeteria look and more Mexican music. I've not been back. read more

While the food is pretty tasty for the price the sangria I received was not. It was not strong at all and basically contained a package of dole cocktail fruit and about 25 ice cubes. That was definitely not worth the money. read more

Sadly to say, just okay Appetizer: Chorizo dip, have had it numerous times but this time meat tasted old Vallarta-couldn't even find a scallop, shrimp and chicken over-cooked, tough Pollo Yucatan-chicken w green pepper, onions, squash etc. Cooked to the consistency of stew, over-cooked, mushy. Could have been such a nice dish if it wasn't over-cooked. Staff attentive, pleasant Prices average read more

As good as it gets. Tasty goodies on the menu from specialties to the traditional fare. There is not usually a wait and the service is outstanding!! read more

My family has been coming here for several years now and has always had a great experience..until today. The food is great; however, the management is not. The manager working today was clearly lacking customer service skills. The manager not only insulted my mother because her question (about where to get one of their margarita shirts) was not "grammatically correct" but also told me I wouldn't understand the correct grammar because I was "a woman with blonde hair." Extremely offended and insulted by the treatment my family received from a manager. Safe to say, my family will not be returning. read more

food was good it maybe need some extra adds to but the enchiladas were good and the beef soup great

Another great dinner. Thanks again. ...and Kenia was great. ..........:) yummy food. Our get together had a large amount of people. This was excellent read more

This place has great Mexican food. Had the chicken lime salad, yum! Definitely will be back! Better than La tolteca for sure!

Great food. The third Thursday of every month the restaurant features a Mariachi band starting at 6:00.

We just tried Plaza Mexico for the first time. The food and service was great. My kids devoured the fried ice cream in what seemed like seconds! We will definitely go again. read more

Terrible food. I had beef fajitas, which you would think that you can't screw up, right? Wrong! Leave it to this place. It was so overcooked the veggies were practically a mush, and was swimming in grease. I felt greasy for hours after eating there. When the host asked me how everything was and I told him how greasy the fajitas were, he didn't seem to understand (not a language issue if that's what you're thinking)and kept on giving me this confused look like I'm an idiot and said something about needing to cook the meat and veggies in some fat. Big difference between Some and a ton. Won't be back. read more

Our favorite place to eat in the World!! We go here every week. Everyone who works there are so nice. They all stop over to say Hi. We love the tableside guacamole, it is amazing. The queso dip is a must have with the homemade chips. The menu is huge and so are the margaritas!!! read more

Wife and I are big fans of Mexican food and this place fell completely short. Food had no spice, beans were bland, and rice tasted like something out of a box kit. The Best part of the dinner was the soda. Will not be coming back. Will be going back to our regular spot La Tolteca. I will say they did the right thing a removed the charge from our bill when we complained read more

Great find in an area with limited good food choices. Great portions, great food, great service! Cant' wait to go back and test out the margaritas!! I got the burrito loco and the lunch size was perfect. Our toddler was happy as could be with the complimentary chips and salsa, and devoured her taco, rice, and beans. And my husband enjoyed his carnitas quesadilla. Great meal! read more

This was honestly some of the worst Mexican food I've ever eaten. The meal started with some despicable drinks. The margaritas were a pre-made toxic green mix that was more like sludge than a margarita. The guac was decent, made table side, but loaded with more filler than avocados. Perhaps the most incredible part of the meal was the chile relleño. I've never seen this before, but they used a green bell pepper... Cut in half and then stuffed with some unseasoned poor quality beef... Then they put literally 3 pieces of shredded cheese on top (I counted). It was laughable. read more

Food was bland and average. The service was OK. They delivered the food VERY quickly and it was reasonably cheap. But if you are in Fallston looking for Mexican food, go to La Tolteca in Bel Air. MUCH better food!! read more

We stopped here for lunch on a whim, and it turned out to be the best decision! Everything we ordered was delicious! We wanted to try more stuff! Will definitely go back! read more

First time to restaurant and food is very good along with good service. It is somewhat congested at check-in, with customers waiting in small area, then customers are checking out at the same place. Creates a little confusion and uncomfortable waiting area. Lots of children, which is fine, but if wanting somewhat of quiet dinner, it was very loud and uncontrolled atmosphere. But again, good service and good food too. Would go back and recommend it. read more

Been eating at another local Mexican resteraunt and I would say Plaza Mexico far exceeds them in taste and space. I enjoyed the food very much, very flavorful and ample portions. Would recommend. read more

I am a huge fan of mexican food and margaritas and this place excels in both. They make your guacamole right in front of you- it was so cool to watch and was fresh and delicious. All of our food was very good- better than La Tolteca's. Everyone in my group was very happy with their meals. read more

The guacamole prepared table side is delicious! Antonio was our waiter, who makes his guac on the chunky side--other servers make it creamier. Also had the combo platter with taco and quesadilla, with beans and rice. Yum! And the fact that their homemade salsa has some flavor is awesome! Totally going here this weekend! read more

Delicious food for both my wife and myself, which is no easy task. Atmosphere was standard family restaurant-style, though the house lighting is a bit bright (former Denny's fixtures). Lower lighting for dinner would be nice. Wait staff was friendly and did a good job. Definitely coming here again. read more

Love this place--great shrimp fajitas! My three picky kids all found something that they liked as well. House margarita was very good!

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant! We were there last night during happy hour so I asked what specials they offered and I was told, none. I asked the waitress to check and make sure, she came back to say only that it is happy hour 3 pm to 7 pm but did not know what was offered. I again asked her to check so I could decide what to order. They have 6 beers listed as on tap that were all discounted. I went to order a beer and the first 3 I selected were all out so I settled on my 4th option. When our food came out it was all wrong and had to be taken back which was not a huge deal because it came out so quickly. The runner took the plates away, walked in the back and came right back to the table 1 minute later with the exact same plates that were obviously still wrong. I explained again this is not our order so another person came over and re-took our order. When I went to pay, I realized that they charged me $3.50 for my daughter's Shirley temple yet sprite is included with a kids meal so I asked if that could be adjusted. The server and man up front where payment is received, proceeded to argue with me in front of other customers walking in the door that even though a normal soda is $2.25 they were justified in charging me $3.50 because they had to add a splash of grenadine and also because my daughter drank 2 drinks. I then went to pay and use a $5 off coupon they posted in the paper. I was told I cannot use it because I already had other discounts due to Taco Tuesday and happy hour priced beers. I have never had a bad experience at La Tolteca or Tacos Tolteca but this place is horrible! read more

Attractive makeover of the old Denny's on Rt 1. Warm welcome and good service, in spite of server needing more practice with English. We went in hopes of starting with a margarita, but no hard liquor license. We ordered sangria. It was by far the worst I've ever tasted. Horrible red wine with some fresh fruit, but some canned fruit cocktail. When I asked about the ingredients, server shrugged and said, "mix.". Not sure she understood question. Food experience was fair...chicken fajitas were tasty and plentiful, but served with only two tortillas in a foil packet. And the food wasn't sizzling hot. Had the temp been hot and the drink acceptable, I could have been very pleased. Spouse had beef enchiladas which were also lukewarm and very average. Lot os shredded lettuce doesnt hide sub par portion size. I liked the people and would love to see them succeed. We will give them another try in a month or two. We need good ethnic restaurants in Harford. Cty. read more

This is the first time I have been to this restaurant. I am a big fan of Mexican food, and this has made the list of my favorite. Our orders came out very fast and were very good. I had the Enchiladas Verde and my wife had the Taco Salad. The chicken in the Enchiladas was very tender and moist the green sauce had a nice sweet taste to it. My wife really enjoyed her Taco Salad the meat was flavorful and the shell light and crispy. The tortilla chips were fresh and crispy and the salsa tasted fresh, the queso tasted excellent, nice rich and creamy. The prices are reasonable and a good value. read more

Yum! Great food and service. Very impressed! Makes me want a margarita now.

Come here about once a month. The chile rellenos are great, the margaritas are pretty big and the soft chicken tacos are very good. They give you free chips and salsa and if you want, they will do the hand made guacamole at the table which is always very good. My wife ordered a vegetarian dish which I tasted and liked better than my dish. It was flavored very well. The server was very attentive as well. Good place for mexican! read more

We did a search on Google Maps a week or so back and saw that this place had good reviews so we decided to check it out. It was a busy Friday night, and the place was packed, but we were seated immediately and we got our drinks pretty quickly too. I loved the salsa that came with the chips. Some places give out salsa that doesn't have a whole lot of flavor, but not the case here. I got the vegetarian combo with the plain quesadilla, the chalupa, and the bean burrito. Oh my goodness, so much food. But to my great joy, the quesadilla was just like the ones I remember from back home, made the way I have been searching for since I moved to Baltimore over a decade ago. For this very reason, this place is going to be in our regular dining rotation even though it is a bit of a drive from the city. My other half got the shrimp tacos and gave me a bite of one of his. I would have been quite happy with an order of those myself. Our waiter wasn't terribly friendly, but he was efficient. read more
