I hired Plastering by Eric Aulbach to work on the exterior house and touch up areas that were pealing, as well as hired them to fix part of the ceiling interior. The crew came at the designated time for the job. 7:30a, having arranged my workday to accommodate them. They scraped the exterior wall, after ab 40min or so I looked outside and they were gone! I then received a text stating that it wasn't plaster after all and they weren't going to finish the job. Eric also left a hole in my ceiling unfinished, despite his promise to repair. For a so-called professional to give you an estimate and agreed-upon job to redo plaster, then come to the job, begin work, say oh it's not plaster and leave .is completely unprofessional untrustworthy. read more

I requested quotes from multiple companies for my small plaster job. One kept telling me he would call back to reschedule, another came to my house but never sent a bid and stopped returning my phone calls, another was way overpriced. This business made me aware of the process from the beginning and kept their promises. When they did have to reschedule there was great communication and they were apologetic. I felt comfortable with every person who worked in my home. They were pleasant and very knowledgeable. They got the job done in the amount of time they estimated and the work looks great. I had significant cracks, water damage and a droopy garage ceiling. Eric's team not only stabilized the ceiling and fixed the cracks and water damage, they tarped everything in the garage to keep it clean. It's very difficult to see where the cracks once were. Nearly all the 100 y.o. plaster was missing from the exterior brick wall in my 3-storey stairwell. I was acquainted w/ Eric thru the Rehabbers' Club where he often posted do-it-yourself tips for members. I decided to ask for a bid, which was forthcoming within a few days. I immediately accepted the bid and offered to go get materials for which he provided a list. Eric and a helper showed up soon and quickly had a scratch coat on everything, plus a few other places where it was helpful & appropriate. Soon, Eric returned by himself to install two more coats which smoothed and finished to the degree one could see reflections from the window in the door. To put it simply, Eric and his team are detail oriented, responsive, professional, and efficient. Eric is truly a plaster savant which is an extremely important feature when it comes to something as niche as plaster work. My husband and I hired Eric to smooth out the texture in our knockdown textured walls. The room we had serviced is pretty sizable and not short of difficult details to maneuver around. The job was done in one day and I have yet to discover an imperfection in the level and smoothness of the wall. Eric made sure every edge was sharp and I didn't lose my trim to a thick layer of plaster. I'm SO pleased. I found Eric from a flyer left in my door one day advertising his services. Normally these types of advertisements go straight in the garbage, but because of a leaky chimney there'd been some water damage to a section of my office that had needed replastering for ages. I found his flyer to be very fortuitous. My husband called him up and he came out within a couple days to give us an estimate. He came with a handy little device that he could place against the wall to see if the bricks behind the plaster were completely dry. There had been so much water in our wall that it was actually bowed out so he tore the whole thing down to the bricks. He gave it a couple weeks to completely dry out and was back to finish the job. I have no complaints about the plaster job. It looks great and you can tell he knows his stuff. Since I wasn't home when he finished up I had some follow up questions about when it was ok to paint, etc. and he answered my emails really quickly and was super helpful after he'd finished. My only complaint is that the day I came home after he'd left, there was plaster dust everywhere. I know it's an incredibly messy job, but I would really have appreciated some drop cloths between the office and the front door so he wasn't tracking dust all throughout the house. I also found a big dust handprint on my dining room table and a big dust footprint on the area rug in the living room. I found that to be really annoying. Other than that, I'd definitely recommend. His prices seemed fairly reasonable (didn't have anything to compare it to, though). read more

Eric Aulbach Plastering repaired and replaced a big ceiling mess in my basement, which happens to serve as garage space in my condo. I had very roughly torn out the gypsum board assembly in place to inspect a significant section of floor joists. What made things complicated was the assembly provides sound attenuation and a fire rating, so it was (2) layers of gyp bd with an acoustical resilient channel inbetween. Eric was able to complete a seamless installation that looks fantastic. Some of my neighbors have had ceiling work done, and Eric's work is far superior to them. Eric was honest, affordable, and timely. The care and attention to detail and craftsmanship really stood out. I would recommend highly. read more

We had numerous cracks in our plaster walls. Eric's crew did a very good job and a good clean up before leaving. About 6 weeks later a small crack reappeared in an area that had been re-plastered. I called and Eric returned to fix the area. No charge! Plaster repair is an art as well as a trade. There are not many experts out there any longer. The walls have a texture that I knew a basic handyman could never get right. He not only did a great job working on my expanding list of cracks, but he was very entertaining and nice. Eric Aulbach plastering repaired a whole in my ceiling due to a water repair. He also replastered an inside wall due to water damage. I was really impressed with Eric's knowledge and detecting water damage. He had this handy little tool that measured the amount of moisture behind the bricks. He did excellent work. You can't even tell where he patched it. The other thing that really impressed me was how clean and respectful he was of my hour. He put plastic runners on my hardwood floors so he did not get plaster on them. He cleaned up after he was gone including sweeping. I highly recommend him. read more

This guy blew off a scheduled appointment with no call. Would never have heard anything again if I hadn't called him. Why do so many small-time contractors and plumbers think it's acceptable to over-schedule and then treat showing up as completely optional? I lose income from mornings spent waiting at home for contractors who don't show. Very tired of it. read more
