I've been going to PKN for two years now. I was nervous about finding a new place after I moved to the Bee Cave area, but Tammy and the other girls make you feel very welcome. She even recognizes me from my caller ID when I call in. She's given my daughter and my mother-in-law the same friendly treatment every time. Making appointment is easy and walking in is still kind of doable too, if you don't mind waiting a bit. Walked in to a a giant mess. Should have been my first clue. I had to step over a child lunch spread all over the chairs that I assume were meant for the waiting area. I ask for Ombré nails and one of the nail technicians said yes please sign in. It was raining hard so I decided to stay rather than venture out. I thought the pedicure price was good so I accepted the offer for a pedicure. I sit down and get the pedicure. It was ok. The child was running around the salon. The mom was completely oblivious. Blaring pepper pig. Not relaxing at all. Someone asked the child to pick up her lunch mess and she just ignored everyone. When the nail technician finally came over to do my nails I asked for the Ombré nails agin and she said that she doesn't do that. Had I known that when I asked in the first place I would've walked straight out. Didn't like the vibe. There are better nail places out there. read more

I followed Tammy and Tracy to PKN Day Spa when they left another nail salon on Bee Caves Road. Tammy's sister owns the salon now, so it has changed hands since June. I have been using Tracy to do my solar nails and Tammy to do my pedicures for a couple of years now. I have lived in Austin for 18 years and have been to many salons. I have not gone anywhere else since discovering these ladies. I refuse to let anyone do my nails except them as they are simply the best. I have very rough feet and Tammy is the only person who has been able to get the rough spots off, without using a razor, which is now illegal. At other salons you pay extra for the special callus remover which you don't here. Also, she is very talented with painting little flowers on the toes, and the massage she gives to your feet and legs is awesome - again no extra charge. Tracy does the best solar nails I have ever had done. And, again, unlike other salons, she does not charge extra if a nail needs repairing. Pam also does nails as well as gives body massages. I haven't used her yet, but plan to for a back massage. She has a wonderful personality and attitude as does all the staff at PKN. We laugh a lot. I totally confirm what Michelle and Jennifer said about this salon. Why go to other spas and pay so much extra when the best in the Austin is right here at this beautiful salon? (They also offer wine for those who feel they need to indulge themselves while getting their nails done.) So, ladies and men, if you hate those extra charges where you are nickel-ed and dimed until your pocket is dry and you want the best care, call PKN and get your appointment. They are on the left on Bee Caves Road if heading west in the plaza that also holds Roosters and Reid's Cleaners (right before the Mormon church). I love this place. They are reasonably priced compared to competition and always do a great job with pedicures, manicures, gel nails and acrylic sets. My daughters and my ex's wife/her daughter all go there regularly, as well. Their gel nails consistently last longer than other places I have gone. I read one very negative review. I know gel nails are $25 because I often get just this done. To get a full set of acrylics anddd gel is going to be significantly more work and money. It is important to ask the price ahead and if you don't understand, ask again. These ladies work very hard and try to please their customers. I highly recommend PKN. read more

I've tried several nail places near PKN and around Westlake and was never really impressed by the results. My hopes weren't very high when my daughter told me to come with her to PKN Nails and I have to say I can't believe how they transformed my hands and feet. They spent a long time and were very meticulous about making sure my cuticles and the polish were perfect. My search is over for a great nail salon. Ladies of Bee Cave, this is it. I personally have tried almost every nail salon in this area, including the day spa at barton creek mall, the pricey milk + honey at hill country galleria ($45 mani) and the even pricier Lake Austin Spa ($70+ mani?!?!), and this place is still the best. If you're like me, you want a beautiful manicure even in a crappy economy, but you also hate getting ripped off or getting a crappy "chop shop" job on your nails. This place offers the best of both worlds--the service is amazing but the prices are dirt cheap ($35 for mani-pedi combo). My mani from here looks much nicer and lasts much longer than my $70 mani from Lake Austin Spa, and to me that really says something. The nail techs here take their time, they don't rush through the job, and they are pleasant to converse with. PKN is an undiscovered gem in the hill country. ;-) At least try this place once...you won't regret it. I recently moved to Lakeway so I was searching for a nail salon to be my regular place. Tried a bunch of other salons but most of them were either expensive or did lousy jobs or both. But this place was fantastic! The usual clean and well-lit nail salon with relaxing music and massage chairs. The ladies working on our nails didn't speak perfect English, but they were so enthusiastic and friendly that it was a lot of fun chatting with them. And they did a GREAT job; my nails look lovely! Since it was my first time there, I didn't know what time they closed and accidentally went in right after they closed (and without an appointment), but they still welcomed me openly instead of making me come back another day. Great friendly service! The price was great, too. A lot of nail salons nearby will charge $35 just for a so-so pedicure, but I got a great pedicure AND manicure as a set for $35 total. So after shopping around Lakeway for the best value nail shop to turn into my "regular" one, I decided on this one. read more

I'm very disappointed and disgusted at this establishment, because I thought I had finally found a good one in my "neck of the woods," but alas, it wasn't meant to be. I've had the worse luck in the Lakeway/Bee Cave area for nail salons. It's a shame, I tell you. I really enjoyed having pedicures at this place, and would usually fall asleep while in that massage chair, but I will NOT be returning. I visited this nail salon last week, and needed a full set of acrylic nails, with gel polish ONLY. They do NOT have a price list posted in a visible area (except on a brochure in the front) and I asked one of the nail techs how much it would be. She mumbled something, which I didn't understand, because her English was very limited, but then I remembered that I've had full, acrylic sets with gel polish before, but it's been a while. It was always $35. Well, after the service was over, I went to go pay, and she stunned me by saying it was $50! Then, I noticed on a small sign taped at the front desk that read "tips in cash only!" Well, I didn't have enough money. I was utterly confused as to why it was so expensive. I paid what little cash I had in my wallet, then had to pay the rest on my credit card. I didn't' feel like arguing, because the place was filling up with other customers, that usually slack-jaw stare & gawk when someone questions the price, or even when they walk in the front door. I left and drove home, all the while thinking & trying to analysis their prices, and what, exactly I got, which was the same thing I have always gotten there: plain, old acrylic nails glued on me, with a gel polish. When I got home, I looked on the internet, and found out that nail salons all over the U.S. are notorious for ripping people off. They will tell you that you're getting "gel nails" and then will turn around and do plain acrylic, which is what I got. Of course, what makes this extra baffling is the fact that I asked for plain, old acrylic with gel polish. It's always been $35, I tell you! I didn't even ask for "gel nails." I finally called them, and asked, and she said, "it was the polish you picked out." I still didn't understand. What did I get that was $50? What, the polish was made out of gold or what? All I did was tell her the number I wanted, and she is the one that got up out of her chair, went over, and grabbed the corresponding gel polish. She explained to me that I am the one who picked out that kind of nail service, and it was $50. The funny thing is, when I first called, they didn't know it was me, and I asked, "how much for a full, acrylic set with gel polish?" She told me, "$35." Then, after she quoted me, I told her, "I didn't pay $35, but $50!" She said, "oh, yes, I know who you are. Yes, you got gel and it is $50!" HUH? In layman's terms, "WTF?" I knew right then & there, I was never going to recoup my money, so I just left it at that. No use in arguing, huh? You cannot win with these nail salons! I wasn't rude, or anything, but I just won't be going there any more. After I got off the phone, I took a look at my nails, and they were HIDEOUS! Why didn't I look when I was there? I was too occupied thinking of why they charged me $50, and didn't even look, which I admit, was a stupid thing to do. The shape was too wide (even though I had asked the tech to not make them look wide) and you could literally see the scuff marks on the surface where she filed them in a hurry. It's been a week only, and these $50 pieces of crap are already chipping. They look TERRIBLE, unprofessional and embarrassing. Let's just say a kit of "Lee Press On Nails" bought at a Wal-Mart would of been nicer looking. I am extremely hurt that these people would rip me off like that. They know me, and purposely conned me out of money, even though I've been a returning customer, who always tips well. It looks like I'll be having to drive all the way down to the only nail salon in Austin that won't rip you off: Eshee Nails! read more

Excellent customer service, great mani-pedi & very clean! I called at 4:00 pm on Sunday, asked what time they closed and was told 5:30 pm. I couldn't get there until 5:00 pm. When I arrived, the hours posted on the door showed a 5:00 pm close. Tami stayed late for me without telling me when I booked for the 5:00 pm appointment. She did a great job & wasn't rushed or concerned about the time. I can't say enough about the amazing customer service! This is my new place for a mani-pedi and it's only 10 minutes from my house! I first visited PKN on a recommendation of a friend of mine. I was having engagement pictures taken in a few months, and wanted to find a good place to get my nails and toes done for the pictures. I walked in with no appointment and was immediately greeted and asked what I needed. They begin setting up and took me back for my pedicure right away. They did my nails at the same time as my pedicure, which I really like. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The salon itself is nice and bright and clean. Plus, they have very reasonable prices. I have been back a couple of times since then and have had great service every time. My nails and toes are flawless. I highly recommend them! read more

I really enjoy going to PKN as its close to my house and their service is pretty good and prices are reasonable. I have been going there for almost 6 months now with no complaints. However, these days they are catering more to walk-ins (may be trying to expand their business) so when I make an appt they almost always call me back to reschedule in order to accommodate a walk-in customer, which I thought would defeat the purpose of making an appt in the first place..:(( They have been asking for the payment in cash, even though they accept certain credit cards. Then last time when I was at PKN getting my pedicure done and waiting for a technician to do my manicure, a technician (Ms. Tracy) who just got done with her earlier client came to me and started working on my manicure. I noticed that she had not brought clean tools to do my nails, she brought the same tools she had used on her earlier client. When I asked her if these tools were sterilized she got mad at me and said something to her coworkers in their language and moved on to the next client with same unsterilized tools. Now I am so confused whether to go there again or not. I am debating between convenience & price versus hygiene...:)) read more
