Stopped in at PJs on Sunday for an early breakfast. The sun was shining (Yay, Colorado) so I took a table at their patio. The tables were distanced and roped off from the pathway to ensure passersby don't come close. The host/server was super friendly and pretty attentive considering I was the only one outside. Unfortunately my food wasn't great. Hot Oats with a biscuit on the side. The oats were undercooked, super watery and lacked any flavour. I added the jam that I got for my biscuits to try and liven it up and it didn't improve much. The biscuit, which I was hoping would be light and fluffy was pretty dense and has grease or something on it so it has a hard crust? The food for me was a 2/5 but I liked the convenient location and friendliness of the staff so I may visit again if I'm in the area. read more

Looking for a great local place for breakfast and this did not disappoint. I actually got out of my comfort zone and ordered the chilequilles. Very, very good and I will be trying to make it at home. Hubs got the carne asada burrito and it was a monster. He couldn't finish it. Ordered a biscuit with jam because of the history with Doug's Day Diner and it was as yummy as I remember. If our hotel had a microwave I'd have taken the leftovers home. Table service was top notch. We don't live in the area, so unlikely we'd be back, but will recommend to family who are in the area. read more

Are you particular about your bacon? I am. I like them thick and crunchy. I like my bacon standing up on its own when I hold it between my fingers. I had the Lil Bill. It's gravy on top of a biscuit surrounded by hash browns and two over easy eggs. Almost everything in the menu is priced at $10. Their portion is best described in one word: huge! So you are warned. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing (a Clint omelette with beans and griddle biscuit), but the food and experience is not deserving of the current 4.5-star Yelp rating. The omelette was simply a slab of dry-ish egg folded over a pile of minced ingredients that had, by all appearances, taste, and texture, not been sautéed or cooked in any manner. The bacon - which I was looking forward to based on other reviews - was thick, yes, but also dried out, hard, and chewy with no delicious bacon flavor to speak of. The bacon, tomato, onions, and spinach were not mixed up, resulting in bites that were dominated by one ingredient or the other unless I scooped them out and mixed them myself. The cheese was a slice of Swiss placed on top of the egg and then set beneath a heater to melt. It was plasticy and peeled right off the egg, making it difficult to have any in my bites. Overall, it reminded me of how an omelette is prepared at hotel breakfast buffets, but worse. As a note, despite the claim to freshness, the OJ is not fresh-squeezed and the hot chocolate comes out of a machine that mixes powder with water. The side of beans were okay. I had to ask for my biscuit that was supposed to come with the omelette. It was pretty good (though I've just been biscuit-exploring in Atlanta, so my standards are pretty high at the moment), and the raspberry jam appeared homemade and was tasty as well. read more

I didn't want to forget to review this place because I was impressed with everything about this little diner. Upbeat atmosphere and mood. Service was wonderful and serving sizes of their drinks and plates were so huge! I didn't need to ask for refills on my drink because the cup was so big! My husband has a big appetite but couldn't finish his country fried steak and the biscuit that came with the gravy was also the size of a hamburger bun. I had a "whimpie" Papa that had a mountain of their homemade hash browns and I loved how almost every bite was crispy smothered in carne asada and salsa very filling and I still couldn't finish that either but I liked how they offered the smaller version since we were traveling and I couldn't take home a doggie bag. A lot of places won't decrease the cost of your entree when you want a 2 egged omelet instead of the traditional 3. We were seated right away, no wait and it wasn't too busy in the morning. I had french toast and he opted for the Taos. Both of our plates were excellent, so many great flavors and food done right! We also had a side of bacon which as so crispy and delicious. I loved the biodegradable straws but opted to just drink from my cup. Our food came out quickly which was nice as we were eager to get on our way and explore. The place looked decent as we walked in. My date said he's been here once before and thought breakfast was good. So I was looking forward to a good brunch. We had OJ and ordered some food. His biscuits and gravey looked alright and I was not really impress with my omelette. The stuffing was just folded inside the egg omelette. It just didn't seem tasty. I could've cooked it better and presented it better too. Service was just ok and took a little long. It wasn't super busy. My date thought that maybe we just walked in on a bad day. Super impressive and DELICIOUS! I am SO upset with myself that I have lived here for over two years in walking distance and never thought to come here?! Seriously, this is a best kept Superior secret. Nestled in the Safeway shopping center off Coalton Road it's almost hidden. I had the most AMAZING "side salad" with real greens, fresh chopped veggies and almonds and homemade AMAZING ranch dressing! I am SUPER picky about ranch dressing too! The burgers are outta control! I had the "haiter" and it was hands down one of the best burgers I've had in my life! You can tell they literally make everything from scratch because even the burgers are oval shaped and they use specialty bread to get this custom shape! You gotta try Doug's Diner at least once! After a cold 10K race nearby, we looked for a good breakfast place and stumbled upon Doug's Day Diner! Although it was fairly busy, we were able to get a table. Employees were very friendly and helpful. We ordered the Rancher (chicken fried steak with gravely) and the Sharon (omelette). Food came out quick and was excellent. This place was a shot in the dark, but WOW I am so happy we took a risk. The food is homemade and amazing. I have not tastesed country gravy this good in a long time and the green chile is incredibly filled with flavor and meat. Highly recommended if you are in the mood for a great breakfast. Dine in today with my mom. I don't know, food is good as always, but customer service is absolutely lacking today I'm not sure if I am just too sensitive to how people treat me cause I have been through a lot cause of the fire or service today was really bad. Not once the server checked on us, and then I looked around, actually couldn't find our server. I needed more water but since server cant be found, had to use my bottled water that I brought from home. I mean I see other servers treating other customers right but not us, I guess. I come here a lot, it's one of my favorite go-to breakfast places in the area. It's the perfect amount of comfort food together with some delicious chef's creations such as the Papas that they serve (which is basically just a bowl of delicious mixed up breakfast goodness). One particular time I came here and ordered their specials item the breakfast nachos. Those were some of the best nachos I've ever had and it kept me craving for weeks. The only problem you'll run into here is probably service, which I'd say is pretty typical when it comes to busy diners. I've had times where the waitress would completely forget that I ordered a tea, or just generally not remember to refill the tea. Nothing too serious though, just one of those things about coming to a diner in the morning. This is definitely a place I recommend people to try out. Horrible is the only word I can use for what they served me. I ordered a bacon omelette with a side of green chili. What i got was a disk of tasteless yellow plastic with a mound of bacon in the fold. The side of chili was served up in a tiny, condiment size plastic cup, which probably tasted the same as the eggs. The sad part is the staff had no idea how to handle a customer complaint. I took one bite, told the waitress the food was not eatable and she promptly gave me the bill. I went for lunch, and it was very good. They're open limited hours, for breakfast/lunch. We went about 12:30. I had the special, Avocado Toast, and it was really good but maybe a tad on the salty side. It had the smashed avocado with fresh salsa on top, then a sliced hard boiled egg on top of that.
