PJ's Diner is an amazing breakfast, brunch, lunch spot. I am a vegetarian and they were able to serve me up a Skinny Papas with roasted hatch green chilies. The food was piled high, seasoned well and was such a big portion that I ate half for brunch and half for a late lunch. Our server was so sweet getting us everything we needed and checking in on us several times even though the restaurant was busy. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating and is a must see if you are in the area. Doesn't look like much from the parking lot but walk on in and smells are awesome. Friendly staff! Portions are large and fairly priced. I am working through the menu and have enjoyed everything I have ordered. So far I have tried the Cowboy Papas, Taos Papas and the blue berry scones, all very good and they are happy to customize your dish to your preference and taste. The only bad thing about this place is it's not close to us. Thought the food looked good on pictures when we were up here for a hockey tournament, but the pictures don't do the food justice. One of the best chicken fried steaks I've ever had, the hash browns are great and different than most places, and amazing gravy and green Chile. I'm not a biscuit person but their biscuit with homemade strawberry jam was so delicious. And the service was great, everyone was very friendly and they were great at accommodating our wheelchair. While it's standard greasy spoon diner food, there's a whole lot of it so you'll have leftovers for a couple more meals. Basically, order one dish and it'll be more than enough to feed yourself for the rest of the day. Today, I ordered the bacon breakfast burrito with the country gravy, and out came this burrito that could have fed my entire family. Alas, my husband decided he wanted his own dish, so he ordered the Sharon with extra bacon. That bacon. O...M...G. If there's anything I like more than bacon, it's thick, meaty bacon. And Doug's Day Diner is a trusty place to find it. During another visit, I ordered the BG (i.e. griddle biscuit with two eggs) and what I thought would be a modest portion of French toast. Wrong, so wrong. We had to roll ourselves out of there. Earlier, I mentioned that Doug's is a good place to go if you don't want to wait in line. That's only true if you can get there around 8am. With great reviews and we had business in this part of town, so I said we need to try this place. Busy place as the good ones are. Didn't wait long (15 min) and this was a Saturday morning about 9am. Got seated and reviewed the menu. Wait staff was very attentive and we were well served. I ordered the Papas Cowboy. Over easy with Green Chili. It was fabulous and better than expected. My wife ordered Wimpie Taos Papas and she enjoyed it very much and couldn't finish it all (Good size portions). Coffee was great and I had the what looked like fresh squeezed OJ. Was a great place to start our day and we both enjoyed the meal and look forward to our next visit back. First time at PJs Diner. If one work could describe the country gravy it would be "outstanding "!!! The biscuits and gravy is made in house and has a nice pepper note right out of the gates. House made Hash browns were crispy but not burned and the eggs OM were perfectly executed. Everything washed down well with a great cup of coffee!! They offer such a great menu that pulls from the region but also offers great choices for this Midwesterner. I cannot wait to travel the menu to its entirety. Hidden away in a strip mall not far from our house... we decided that we'll bike over next time. Only open for breakfast and lunch with an unusual menu worth checking out. Portions are large and easy to share. Service is fast and friendly and paperless. I had the blue salad with greens, chicken, blueberries, blue cheese and more and wonderfully fresh croutons .. The burrito is this chubby handheld wrap - it can be doused in (red/ green) chili sauce if you're into that. We actually get a side of sauce to go in a small tub. For a truly satisfying burrito experience though you gotta add some spice too. I dash in a bit of Tapatío in each bite to give it that extra kick I need to wake me up in the morning. I do wish the eggs and chorizo were a more even mixture (more eggs less chorizo) and for funsies avocado was an option. I'm from out of town and went there based on the reviews. My first impression was it was a pretty small place, which isn't a problem, most diners are small, but I feel they have too many tables in there since when they sat us, I hardly had enough space to breathe, since the person behind me used much of what little space there was. Next, I had to actually ask for a menu, really? I know in the height of COVID it was normal not to supply one, but that is over I think. Visited PJs on a Sunday around 8:30am. Parking is a easy to find given it's next to Safeway. We were seated right away which is always great. One of the things that I really liked is that their service is super quick in terms of taking your order and bringing you the food. The portions are very generous so make sure you come here very hungry. I went with the carne asada papas. It was overall good but think it can be better if their chili was more spicy (I went with the green chili) and of their meat was less chewy and more tender. Still great dish. I was actually blown away by the chocolate chip hot cake. It came really hot and the chocolate chips used were rich and tasty. My wife went with the omelette and thought it was just ok.
