It's always nice to find a good diner that makes everything from scratch, that Guy Fieri hasn't ruined yet. With how good Doug's is, I can't imagine it'll last long before the walls will be plastered with "Featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" pictures, with the obligatory autographed picture of Guy himself. When you go, if you're up for something hearty, try one of the Papa's (mounds of griddles potatoes topped with the meat of your choosing -- carne asada, chorizo, green chile sausage, regular sausage, ham, bacon, some mixture of all o those -- some onions and peppers, cheese, and either red or green chili (homemade? I haven't asked, but its delicious and definitely not your usual canned stuff if its bought). Alternatively, the chicken fried steak is traditional, but wonderful. You get 2 heft sized steaks, hand-breaded, covered in a delicious sausage gravy. Alongside that are 3 eggs, and potatoes. I typically get one of their biscuits when I go, which is often a mistake only in that they are huge and after all the regular food I probably should add a delicious, buttery biscuit to it all. But they do make all their jams in-house, so how can you turn that down? Add in the fine service, reasonable cost, and ample parking, and Doug's is my go-to breakfast spot. read more

LOVE this place! First of all, I'm not a breakfast person. But when I do go out for breakfast I want something that I would not/could not cook at home. I had the red chili huevos rancheros-stupid good! My husband just had the "basic": biggest biscuit I'd ever seen and he loved the thick-cut bacon. They use local ingredients and make a lot of their items in house too -which I also LOVE!! I think they have a few locations so I would recommend checking them out for breakfast or lunch! read more

This place was absolutely awesome. We had to wait about 15 minutes on a busy Saturday morning, but it was well worth it. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. My wife enjoyed the carne asada, a mountain of tri-tip, green chili, eggs and potatoes. Doug's Day Diner just opened up in Superior I have been looking forward to a diner style restaurant opening and first impressions are good. We ordered the Drizzle, Tasty and Pancakes. All the food was excellent. Definitely recommend trying the biscuits and tomato's with pesto. I really hope these guys can make this location work. It was a solid breakfast place. Some things were awesome (the sausage gravy, for example), but others were just ok. The hash browns were wide, limp pieces of potato that were cooked but not remotely crispy, which was disappointing. Everything was seasoned well and tasted good, but a few things missed the mark. Initially, the menu looked interesting. However, the reality was a disappointment. I had the reuben without the chilis. I couldn't find the Thousand Island dressing and there was barely any sauerkraut. Some of the corned beef was dried out and hard like wood chips. The fries were limp and a bit greasy. My wife ordered one of their burgers. She asked for it to be medium well done. What came out was closer to medium rare (reddish pink). The onions were supposed to be carmelized. We have been going to Dougs fairly regular for about five months (since moving out here). We love this place. It has consistently had great food and friendly service. The restaurant itself is small, so try to beat the usual rush hours. We are fond of their breakfast burritos and papas. You get plenty of food for the price. You get your choice of chili green or red (or both!), and they have the usual drink selections. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

I've been here about six times in the last year usually for breakfast or lunch on the weekend. I've had everything from salads, burgers, burritos & omelets and always wonderful. Whenever I'm in town I go here to eat breakfast, but I noted that its popularity as a Sunday morning breakfast spot is resulting in slow service. On my recent visit I ate at the counter because all the tables were full. My guest had their pancake/bacon/eggs ($7) combo while I had huevos rancheros ($9). The food was excellent. The pancakes are super thick and fluffy. My huevos rancheros were very good - nice heat level - but I could barely find the corn tortillas underneath as they were super soggy by the time I got my food. It sat waiting to be taken out to me for 5 minutes (I saw it !) while my guest's simple pancake order took longer. The people sitting around me who actually gave their orders AFTER me got served before me. This was confusing - I could clearly see the flattop and hash browns and pancakes were always being made, so why it took so long to get his order I'm not sure.In my opinion their flattop is way too small to handle the volume of orders. My guest had a glass of milk which is ridiculously priced at $3! That's a markup of of roughly 10X. As for the coffee - not good. It was either weak or not a good blend. Couldn't tell. I also had to ask for water. Everyone around us had water (in addition to their drinks) but I didn't get any. So tough call on this one. Service has room for improvement. Food is good. Love Doug's Day Diner. I started in the one in Aurora. Now visiting a friend up north. The portions are HUGE.. I've always said you can only serve breakfast and lunch there. Because if you eat there once, you won't need to eat the rest of the day!! I am starting to really enjoy the Turkey green chile sausage. I don't eat pork, so I stay to their Beef, and Turkey. Yumm on the green chili itself. I appreciate that they use chicken rather then pork to make it. Love the service, they stayed on top our drinks, and Cara is fantastic busing tables with a smile! Holy smokes! This place was AMAZING! I had the half portion of the Big Pig with red chile. Firstly, there was nothing small about the portion size. Secondly, the flavor was out of this world. I typically add hot sauce or other condiments to my food, but this didn't require a bit of it. Pleasant surprise! The name led me to think it was going to be a plain old diner. It is a simple diner in a strip mall with nothing fancy about it. But it is tastefully decorated, and the staff was very pleasant. The food was very fresh tasting, and the portions were enormous. One thing that caught my eye was that the ketchup was all natural, partly organic, non-GMO, no HFCS, much better from a healthy standpoint than I see in almost any restaurant. I won't mince words - I love this place. It's always consistent - the food, the staff and the unbutton my pants I'm so full feeling. Seriously, they have ridiculously large portions - if they serve a smaller size, you should order it. Not only will you save a couple bucks, you'll still be stuffed. I've been going at least once a week since they opened and have pretty much tried it all. I love the burrito to go for $5 on a work day morning and the green chili - it should be on pretty much everything. The biscuit seemed to have a fresh yeast flavor, the eggs were perfectly cooked and the bacon is very unique. I would have like for the browns to be cooked a little longer, but I'm sure that's just a personal preference.
