Hawian without Prosciutto aka Margherita with Pineapple

OhMyGosh! So after being let down in Naples by their pizza, I was dead-set on finding a Pizza our side of the Amalfi Coast that I like. Well, here it is folks! Pizzeria Stella was STELLAR! The dough is the perfect consistency, the pizza wasn't soggy, maintained it's perfect shape. My husband got the shrimp and zucchini pasta, that he enjoyed as well. We finished off our lunch with their "cheesecake" which is more like panna cotta than Cheesecake that Americans are used to. Definitely a must go-to spot while on Lido. Staff was super friendly, and knew some English! All in all, our total bill was 51€ which isn't bad at all, it was a ton of food. Also, PINEAPPLE DOES GO ON PIZZA, Italy said so!

As soon as we had a room we tossed all our luggage inside and went for a walk. It was about 10pm local time and we were just crossing our fingers hoping to find a good Italian meal. Well our hotel is located on the mainland and unfortunately everything was closed. So we just walked around and while walking down what appeared to be a residential street heard music and stumbled across this hidden gem. It's cute, quite and quaint. The dining room is old world, the chef delivers his food to the table and happily describes his works of art exhausted, perspiring and out of breath, but proud and anxious. We only had a small plate of spaghetti and some wine but it was delicious! It was more than delicious it was the best spaghetti we have had. We ate, drank and talked into the night. The families dining around us ordered plate after plate after plate....... We soaked in the background noise of children and family speaking Italian.......laughing and having a splendid evening. I wish we were here a couple more days so we could go back. If your in the area don't pass this up!

We even heard some waiters serenade a young birthday girl and they were decked out with festive hats, accordions, and tambourines. There was a cover fee €3 per person which was surprising for us. The pumpkin flan was a true experience of sweet and savoriness. I couldn't stop eating the ratatouille; it was such a delicious treat. I was able to have a conversation with the chef after our meal, and she encouraged my excitement to experiment and try my hand at some of these dishes at home. I wish I lived in Venice, so I could have La Zucca regularly. They only had one reservation spot for the days we were in Venice, so I definitely recommend making reservations ahead of time.

The seating made it completely worth it, though--we were seated right by the canal water and had a gorgeous view throughout our meal! The servers were very pleasant, though navigating the menu takes a little extra effort. The menu is in Italian and changes regularly. While they do provide a translation menu, I ended up using my phone to translate most of it myself. For dietary restrictions, they do mark allergy items, though there aren't very many gluten-free options available. To drink, I ordered an Aperol Spritz. For food, I had the carrot soup and a plate of two sides: ratatouille and zucchini. The soup and the zucchini were both delicious! One of my friends ordered the linguine, but unfortunately found it to be overly salty. Overall, it's a lovely spot for a scenic lunch by the water, especially if you enjoy a lively atmosphere and don't mind navigating a changing Italian menu.

The grilled calamari was cooked very well and a hint of lemon helped its case quite a bit. The scallops were a bit on the small side, but still tasty. - We got the side spinach sauteed with garlic, olive oil, and some chili. We could barely detect the chilis, but the side was simple and delicious. - The service was very good. Good modest restaurant recommended by our concierge.

The sauce was a balance of savory beef, chunks of tomatoes, with tones of red wine that created cc'd a dish that's delicious. The chocolate cake was not my style--wayyy tooo rich. Apple pie--apples not tender The service was almost adequate. While the waiters are polite, they tend to under-hover and I needed to summon them waiving my hands once. Admittedly there was a large group in the restaurant. Lighting was adequate, acoustics very good and music was subdued. Despite this, the quality of the Bolognese makes it worth a visit--just be prepared to maybe--possibly--flag someone down when you need a refill of a beverage or want some condiments. I'd come back.

From the moment we arrived, the owner, Marco, made us feel genuinely welcome. He explained that the food is Sicilian and quite different from what you typically find in Venice, which was exactly what we were hoping for after days of similar menus. The menu is short, focused, and built around family recipes. We ordered the pasta of the day, the roast beef, and the smoked salmon dish, and every single item was fantastic. To finish, we had limoncello made by Marco's mother, and it was absolutely delicious. What really made the evening special was Marco and his family. They were warm, kind, and genuinely happy to share their story with us. We loved hearing about his late father and the lasting impact he had on both the family and the restaurant. One of the most memorable parts of the night was joining in the restaurant tradition of coloring pictures and exchanging them with drawings already hanging on the ceiling. We ended up taking home a picture created by a family member, and it will be making the journey back with us to Carlsbad, California. Without a doubt, this was the best dining experience of our entire trip through Europe. Highly recommended!!
