It had been a while since I'd enjoyed some really good Neapolitan pizza, so when an old friend came into town recently and suggested hat we share some Neapolitan pizza, I made us reservations at Pizzeria Mozza. To work up an appetite, we spent a sunny winter afternoon doing three hours of hiking. By the time we showed up for our reservation at Mozza, we were ready for some outstanding carbs, and that's exactly what we got! Arriving at the door at 5:30pm, we entered and were immediately struck by the wonderful smell of outstanding Neapolitan cuisine, along with the upscale, bustling, warm and friendly vibe of the restaurant. We were seated promptly, and were brought water and breadsticks immediately. To promote the serious study required by the task at hand, I ordered a bottle of beer and caucused with my friend over the menu. After much deliberation, we decided to share the bone marrow al forno and an order of Pane bianco with extra virgin olive oil as appetizers. For our main course, we easily agreed on the "meat lovers" pizza - Bacon, salame, fennel sausage, guanciale, tomato & mozzarella). We then brought our waitress into the huddle, and she suggested that our 2nd pie be the Bianca with fontina, mozzarella, sottecenere & sage with sausage added. When the marrow came, it was served with a small container of melted butter with fresh garlic cloves floating in it. I tasted the marrow, and it was exquisite! My only complaint would be that there didn't seem to be enough of it, but I probably would have said that if it had been a half-pound serving ;-) Looking back, ordering the Pane bianco was over-kill, even for a carboholic like me. It looked like exactly what it was - a couple of big hunks of crusty fresh bread with oil. Despite the eminent threat of carb overload, with some of the melted butter and garlic added, it was exceptional, and we caused it to vanish in short order. Now, let's talk pizza! 1st up, the crust is perhaps the best Neapolitan style I've had in recent memory. It was chewy, not too crisp, not too soft, tangy, tasty, and perfectly cooked both at the edges and in the middle. Next, the sauce is zesty and perfectly seasoned to stand up to the toppings and compliment without over-powering. My friend and I very much enjoyed the meat lover's pizza, but the surprise hit of the evening for both of us was the Bianca. It's combination of cheeses provided a tasty and well-balanced blend of gooey, cheesy goodness; the cheese flavors complimenting the tastes of the sauce, crust, and extra sausage perfectly. When we were done, we looked at the dessert menu, but even with full knowledge of my intent to go for another hike the next day, I couldn't bring myself to contemplate any additional culinary excess at that sitting. We got the check, and headed out. I resolved that next time I'd go for a longer hike before-hand to ensure there'd be room for dessert ;-)

Beautiful restaurant. There's the open kitchen where you can see all the cooking taking place. They offer counter seating so you can have the up and close reviewing of the kitchen in action. The bar are is spacious and beautiful. All the dishes came out fantastic. Servers were knowledgeable and attentive. Highly recommend the Japanese sweet potatoes, it's very different and full of flavor. The pizza has a thin crust, it's light and crispy.

It was my 40th birthday and I wanted a more casual vibe so I opted for Pizzeria Mozza. I made an early outdoor resy and we had the place to ourselves for the first hour it opened. The staff was cool, seemed a little annoyed that we weren't ordering alcohol and expensive entrees. JAPANESE SWEET POTATOES- crispy prosciutto & scallion crème fraîche best dish I've had all year- not to be missed. $16 MEATBALLS AL FORNO- toasted sesame bread & herb butter- the bread was phenomenal, but this was our least favorite dish of the night $21 TRICOLORE- salad with three lettuces, Parmigiano & anchovy vinaigrette. No notes, perfect! $22 PASTA ALLA VODKA- lumache, burrata & Sicilian oregano- good, would we order it again? Unlikely. $30 What sets pizzeria mozza apart? HUGE dessert menu- At around $20 a dessert, I was really intrigued to see what would come out of the kitchen. . . The portion was huge! After studying all the pictures online carefully I knew I had to have the TIN ROOF SUNDAE- caramel gelato, salted Spanish peanuts & marshmallow sauce $19 WOW, I dream about this! Thank you, Nancy! I love watching you judge on the Food Network and now I want to try ALL your restaurants.

Amazing place! We went there on a Sunday for an earl lunch. The restaurant was about 70% full at the time, which I think is just the right amount of traffic. Not too quiet, not too noisy. Service was superb, very thoughtful and quick. Food was just amazing! I LOVED the mozzarella sticks and the burrata pizza we ordered! I'll definitely come back again and will recommend this place to all!

I'm a huge fan of Nancy Silverton and watch her all the time on the Food Network, so I was really excited to finally try this place--and I'm so glad I did. The food was absolutely outstanding. I was a little surprised they didn't have a Caesar salad on the menu (I wish they did!), but we ordered the tricolore salad instead and it was fantastic--fresh, crisp, and perfectly dressed with just the right touch of anchovy flavor. Now, the garlic bread... wow. It's unreal. Perfectly toasted with crisp edges and a soft, buttery center. The butter and garlic are baked right in, and honestly, I could eat it all day. We also got the calamari (it's only on the dinner menu) and it was excellent--lightly breaded, perfectly cooked, and paired with an amazing sauce. The meatballs were just as good--flavorful, juicy, and served with three pieces of that incredible garlic bread. Easily one of my favorite appetizers here. And the pizza? Hands down, the best I've ever had. We tried the pepperoni, mushroom, and margherita pizzas, and every one was incredible. The crust is light and airy with a subtle garlic note, and the toppings are perfectly balanced. I've been back several times now and it never disappoints. The food is consistently amazing, and the service is great too. Definitely make a reservation if you're coming for dinner--it gets busy fast!

Nice thin pizzas and good appetizers. The restaurant had typical romantic/warm lighting like you would see in a date-night LA Italian place, but also had this really cool library type room that me and my group sat in. We got the squash blossoms, Bianca (white pizza) and the Napoletana pizza which did have a very good crust, which I think they're known for. The squash blossoms were nice and filled with a ricotta cheese which was tasty. Good pizza, very chill vibes , and I'd be interested in coming back to try the other pizzas and maybe a pasta alongside it.

I'll head right to the main point. You go here for the atmosphere, the energy, and the vibe. Not for the pizza. The pizza is just OK. You can easily find much better pizza for about half the cost. I had the Meat Lover's Pizza. $29. I'm guessing it's the size of a medium pizza, maybe 10", cut into four slices. They are not generous with the meat, and the crust takes up about ¼ of the pizza's real estate. It was an OK pizza, nothing memorable, and I'd say they were less than generous with the toppings. We split a dinner salad. Nice greens. No complaints. For dessert, we split a crumble. Very good. Nice homemade style and the flavor of the fruit really stood out. Nice work on that one. , The place is packed. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. We ate in the outdoor section. I was glad. Inside was pretty noisy. The service was excellent, and so was all the staff we encountered. It was $100 for the pizza, one salad, one serving of wine, and the dessert plus tip. You pay for the hype. Like I said earlier, it's very easy to find better pizza for less money, but it's definitely a happening place. They have valet parking but you can also park on Highland pretty easily. If you do, please be super careful getting out of your car because cars will be wizzing by just a couple of feet from your car. I won't be back, but I'm glad I had the experience.

Pizzeria Mozza did not disappoint! For appetizers we got the meatballs, squash blossoms, and Japanese sweet potato which were all delicious and fresh. My personal favorite was the Japanese sweet potato which was my favorite item that we had that day! We got 3 pizzas to share and they were all good, nothing out of this world but had good flavor and the crust held up well. The 3 desserts we got were all extremely delicious as well. The budino has a salty and sweet flavor which was a good balance and the rhubarb slice and lemon profiteroles were very light and tart, nothing was overly sweet which we loved. The inside of the restaurant is gorgeous and there is metered and street parking available. Overall, the appetizers and desserts were my favorite part of this meal!

This is a classic Italian style pizza place located in West Hollywood. The restaurant is quite popular and uses a valet, there seems to be a line for the valet quite frequently. The restaurant really is furnished quite nicely and is pleasant inside. We sat at the bar and the bartender gave us great service. For our meal, we did a chopped salad, which was really great. My buddy and I also shared a margarita and Napolitana pizza. The salad was my favorite part of dinner. It was plentiful and had a lot of good ingredients. The pizzas were an average Italian size and were good. I know my friend as well as a few other people who knew we ate there all really love that place. I thought it was good but not fantastic.

Busy noisy but great meatballs and pizza
    Namir K.

Very simple equation: When the prices go up and the quality of the food does not follow, then ratings go down. We ordered the meatballs for $ 21 and we got 3 small over salty ones with a lot of garlic breads but we didn't come to eat bread. The panzanella also had 2 big slices of that same bread and finally we had to return the meat lovers pizza that lacked meat. They promptly brought a new one but the evening was already spoiled.

My friends and I came here on a Sunday night around 6pm and were sat right away. We sat in the front room which was bright and inviting. We were instantly greeted and our server gave us some recommendations on the menu. We started with the prosciutto & melon and the burratina pugliese. Both were excellent! I would have preferred that the melon be fully cut off the rind as it was a bit difficult to cut off ourselves with a butter knife. For our entrees we got the Bianca pizza and the pepperoni. I love a white pizza and the Bianca did not disappoint. The pepperoni pizza was a little spicy which I loved. For dessert we got the bundino and the crumble. The crumble won me over! We'll be back to try more of the menu that we didn't get to.

I came on a warm Summer day to have hot pizza. Upon entering we were greeted by waitstaff and then taken to our table by the window. All the seats were filled with people, all socializing and having a great time. There wasn't a table that had no people in it. We ordered the Napoletana: which came with tomato, mozzarella di bufala, olives, anchovies, chiles, and fried capers. It was quite delicious. The ingredients were fresh and made-to-order. The crust was bubbly and crispy. Then to finish off our entree, we shared a scrumptious Nancy Silverton's Butterscotch Budino with two Rosemary-Pine nut cookies. Just check out the pics! This was my second time here and it did not disappoint!

    Margherita & Meat Lover Pizzas

A couple of years ago, my wife and I dined at Osteria Mozza and were left very satisfied! Elegant atmosphere, attentive service, insane wine selection, and excellent food that earned its Michelin star. With those high expectations in mind, we recently tried Pizzeria Mozza next door, hoping for a similar standout experience focused on pizza. Unfortunately, the meal fell short of what we'd anticipated. It was extremely underwhelming. The pizzas we ordered (margharita and meat lovers) were mid at best. The dough and undercarriage were solid: thin, authentic, and with good char. However, the sauce, cheese, and toppings were lacking. Not exactly sure what it was, but the flavors were just... bland -- no flavor. Our pasta dish (pasta alla vodka) was super inconsistent. Some parts were soft, while some others were burnt/overcooked. Vodka sauce didn't taste like vodka sauce at all. More like cheap tomato sauce with a touch of cream. Our favorite part of this dinner was undoubtedly the Japanese sweet potato! It was perfectly cooked, refreshing, and an amazing combination of flavors we hadn't tried before. Do yourself a favor and order this! Not a dealbreaker, but I do have to include this. Beer selection was lacking. How do you not have Peroni or Moretti as an Italian restaurant? As far as the vibe goes, it is very lively with a tight seating arrangement. Expect loud music and loud chatter from folks as a result. We had a few slices of pizza and some pasta leftover, but we had zero interest in taking them home.... When you're spending around $100 per person at a sister restaurant to a Michelin-star, expectations run high for quality and consistency across the board. Regrettably, this visit didn't meet them. Safe to say we won't be returning. Thanks for reading my brutally honest review. Peace!

Ask the Community - Pizzeria Mozza

Are dogs allowed on the patio?

I don't think so. Just a heads-up--space is limited and the tables are fairly close together, so it may not be the best spot to bring a dog

Do you take walk ins? No reservation?

I've visited the few times, and they do take walk ins if there is a table available.

Is Mozza a full bar or wine and beer only?

We just went there and pizzeria is beer and wine only. (Sad face)

    Any substantial vegan options?

Depends on what you mean by substantial. But there's no vegan cheese. There's a few apps that are veggies... if you're strict vegan, then no!

Are the pizzas individual size? Or larger.? Are most other dishes small plates?

The pizzas are 10 inch, 4 slices each.

Do you have a full bar yet?

Nope, just went to pizzeria, beer and wine only.

Is that piazza area a part of the pizzeria or just the osteria or neither? Is it still open? (Almost September 2021)

Hey Star! Starting tomorrow (Sept 1) the piazza will belong to the pizzeria! You can book directly through OpenTable (and select outdoor seating option) or call us at 323.297.0101 to make a reservation - cheers!

I want to grab an outdoor table for lunch over the weekend . How early do I need to be there since they only take reservations for dinner?

What's the corkage fee for wine or is it only purchasable there?

    Corkage fee is $50.

Can you create your own pizza?

No I don't think so but they a great selection

How's the parking? Valet or self park?

Some street parking (not a ton), but there is valet.

How long of a wait for a single person to sit at the bar on a weeknight?

    10-20 at most

    Is there a corkage fee?

The corkage fee is $30/bottle for up to two 750 mL bottles. However, if you bring your own bottle and purchase a bottle from their list, they will waive the corkage fee for your bottle.

How many slices in a piZza?

At Mozza it's 4. When we go with friends we ask them to slice it for 6. They have been very nice about it.

The flight format was flexible, offering around five selections with the option to choose three pours. I went with a sparkling red, an orange wine, and a white--each bringing its own personality to the table. The sparkling red was lively and slightly unconventional, the orange wine had that textured, skin-contact complexity, and the white rounded things out with a clean, expressive finish. Our server elevated the experience by guiding the tasting order, which made a noticeable difference in how each wine showed. It's always a good sign when the staff understands how to pace a flight rather than just drop it off and walk away. We didn't explore the food menu this time, so I can't speak to the full program, but purely from a wine perspective, it lands at a solid 4 stars for me. You can tell this team takes pride in what they do. The wine tasting was beautifully curated, and the staff did such a great job walking us through each pour, sharing helpful details, and making the whole experience feel relaxed but still elevated. Every question we had was answered with ease, and the pacing was spot-on. Dinner was just as impressive. Our table shared the chicken, steak, and salmon, and every single dish was outstanding. The chicken was flavorful and perfectly cooked, the steak was tender and rich, and the salmon was beautifully prepared--fresh, delicate, and full of flavor. Sharing everything family-style made it even better because we got to try a little of everything, and honestly, there wasn't a single miss. What really stood out, though, was the hospitality. We felt genuinely taken care of the entire evening, and it made the night feel special. This is the kind of service and dining experience that makes you want to come back immediately--and bring friends. Highly recommend for a wine tasting, date night, or special occasion. We'll absolutely be back.

We ordered the duck cassoulet, pear and Gorgonzola salad and a very tasty salmon entree. They swap out wines periodically. We were treated to some top quality full bodied reds (Syrah, Cabernet) and our server knew his stuff to guide us with our picks. Make the trek out to Palos Verdes and you won't be disappointed. We'll be back for sure.

I did see some tables out on the sidewalk, but not sure if they all belong to them or Santos right next door. They have a good amount of wines that are domestic and international. Our server, Rob (I think that was his name), gave us a few samples to try before we landed on one. Their menu is not that extensive, so just be aware of that. We didn't have reservations, but we were able to grab a table inside at around 5:30pm on a Saturday. This place was busy. I really liked the Hamachi Crudo. That was so good, but there's only 4 slices for about $21. It's dressed in a ponzu yuzu sauce. It was so good that we ended up pouring the left over sauce on to our Tuna Tostada. Both items were fresh and I could not taste any fishiness. We also ordered the Mushroom Risotto and Cacio e Pepe. I thought the risotto was good, but the rice was definitely undercooked. I would have said something, but we didn't have much time left. The pasta reminded me of Mac n Cheese. I thought it was way too salty and didn't really do it for me. Kind of disappointed in the mains, but the 2 apps were really good.

Probably a really great date night spot. It's not very big, so I would recommend snagging a reservation. We sat the bar, and were helped right away. - Cheese tart: This was the most surprising. It had a matcha topping with I believe a fig spread. We thought that this would be really good but I wouldn't order it again. - Garden of Market Herb Salad: This was a big hit. Light, refreshing and so tasty. - Caesar beef tartare: A must have. It's so good! One of my favorite things we tried the entire night. - Rotisserie chicken: I was surprised at how juicy the chicken was. Definitely would get this again. - Steak au poivre: Again, this was a hit. Overall, I highly recommend Bar Etoile. Beware, parking is annoying though.

I liked the skin contact wine they're serving now. Light, refreshing and some fun pear and apple notes with light floral finish. The New Fashioned tasted very much like an Old Fashioned. Damn...I thought the world went away, but there was a line straight out the door as late evening turned to night. With some folks giving up after using their wait time for drinks and snacks on the benches outside. Spring peas are excellent. That ricotta gremolata is just a nice dressing for the blanced snap peas. Caesar beef tartare Just darling how the bread is sliced into cubes to mimic croutons, so you can mix it all up and eat it like salad if you want. I wish the beef was seasoned a touch more. Lobster rillettes or lobster salad? Don't know and don't care...it's pretty tasty, but a touch more salt would make it even better. The super thin crepe is a nice surprise. Also got the steak frites...a cut that is sous vide before a hearty pan sear with au poivre sauce. Frites served separately to preserve crispness and an aioli. This is a case where the frites were a touch too salty for me. The chowpup did not notice and consumed with a gusto. I wasn't a fan of the crème caramel...the caramel was a touch over for me...just a little too bitter and the custard felt to airy and not vanilla or sweet enough to counter the caramel. They had just run out of the strawberry sorbet. Thanks to Brad for a nice evening!
