    Spinach and Bacon pizza
    Efrain E.

Tried this place out because I was in the area and there was a Groupon coupon available. Lucky me. Staff was very friendly and food was authentic and delicious. I bought a sausage and meatball grinder with cheese and onions which was probably the best one I've ever tasted. Fresh quality ingredients. Also bought an Italian combo to go. Quality meats and tasted excellent. And finally, I got a large spinach and bacon pizza to go for my family at home. Very well made thin crust pie. Delicious. Family was impressed. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to make sure to ask me specifics on what I wanted on my grinders. Not a given nowadays. The added bonus of being on Groupon puts this place over the top and worthy of 5 star rating. Good food, great customer service, good prices and nice ambiance. You guys hit it out of the park. New customer here but you can count on future business from me. Will definitely be making return trips out to Avon.

    12" Buffalo chicken sub
    Russ K.

This was my first time trying Da Vinci, although I've been aware of this growing CT pizza chain. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and a Buffalo chicken 12" sub. The latter we read from other reviews as a good item. We had called from driving in from being out of state for the weekend. Everything was ready at the time requested which was impressive (they were just finishing our sandwich, as we arrived 2-3 min early). The pizza was solid, with a good amount of pepperoni (most don't like skimpy toppings!), and of the thin style. Chicken sandwich was fine, but could've used more Bflo. sauce, as spice was minimal. Overall, we liked Da Vinci and will be back.

One of the three coupons on their website

It's the little things that can impress you. Like a "$5 off" coupon on their website. But it's also the little things that can drive you batshit crazy. We did a take-out order yesterday to give us a head start on the week's meals. We ordered 2 large grinders and one large pizza. Everything was very good, except for one little thing that was present inside both of our grinders. More on that later. Let's start with the pizza -a large red sauce and cheese pizza cost $15.75 and we added meatballs for $2.50. The pizza was pretty good- we LOVED the thin crust which was perfect. The meatballs were more like ground beef, and I would have liked just a little more sauce on the pie, but let me be clear, the pizza was pretty good. The grinders were excellent (except for that one little thing). We ordered a large Buffalo Chicken and a Large Chicken Bacon Ranch for $8.25 each. Both sandwiches yielded two lunches apiece, so the value was exceptional. My Buffalo Chicken was excellent in so many ways, starting off with the chicken. The cutlet was obviously homemade, and was thick and juicy and lightly breaded, man oh man was it good. It came with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and hot sauce on a super fresh grinder roll. So now let's talk about that "one little thing" that drove me batshit crazy. On both my grinder, and my wife's grinder were slices of tomato that never should have made it out of the kitchen. Both had big hard yellow inedible cores right in the middle of otherwise gorgeous slices. Someone had to have either a) looked at those slices and decided they didn't have to be trimmed, or b) didn't even notice they looked like that. If someone had either cared or noticed, we wouldn't have had to spit them out and cause us to root among the rest of the sandwiches and look for more offenders. What a disappointment.

Soggy old lettuce and a old cucumber
    Matt F.

Man I hate doing this to a place I typically enjoy but I ordered the Gorgonzola salad with chicken and cucumber today for lunch and I've had the salad before and it's been great but Today was the exception as my salad was served with wilted old lettuce and the soggy end of a cucumber. I ate the chicken and toppings and whatever lettuce was still semi fresh and tossed the rest , I mean come on it's salad it should be fresh and crisp. I'll give them another shot but with tempered expectations.

    Baked Potato Pizza (no bacon)
    Shweta K.

Food - Baked Potato Pizza (no bacon): (9/10) Solid pizza. We were hesitant at first about the combination of toppings, but they really killed it! The potato is sliced quite thin and blends really well with the sour cream. Some fresh chives on top would have elevated it to the next level. The crust was soft and fluffy, too. Be warned that more than a few slices of this pizza can be pretty heavy, but still delicious nonetheless. - Cannoli: (7/10) This was a standard cannoli. It had a typical cannoli taste with the sweet ricotta filling and chocolate chips. Service: (8/10) The staff here were super amicable and loved good conversation. It's always nice to see staff socializing with the locals. They even gave us the bacon (that was supposed to be on the pizza) on the side in a cup, and a generous serving at that! Atmosphere: (NA/10) We got takeout and ate it on the patio table, but the inside was cute and had a few small tables (although indoor dining was closed due to COVID).

Meatball and pepperoni slice... also can't go wrong with the bubly water! I was so glad they had it
    Molly M.

After shopping in the pouring rain yesterday and wanting to wait out the worst of the storm I stopped in at DiVinci's for a slice with my father. He is a diabetic and has a strict keto diet (pizza being his worst enemy). The staff was so great they put together an everything but the kitchen sink kind of salad for him with chicken as the protein. I am pretty sure I heard audible mhmmms coming from his direction. I, of course, opted for the pizza and it NEVER disappoints. I love coming here because they have more slice options than Naples does now. I'm a sucker for classic pepperoni but I also tried the pepperoni meatball. I'll be back for that one now as my new fav!

I started with a cocktail topped with a mini charcuterie board, which was a fun touch. We ordered the tuna tartare to start. The portion was generous and the tuna tasted very fresh, especially with the mashed avocado on top. For my entree, I had the frutti di mare. The flavors were great, but I wish the sauce were a bit thicker since it settled at the bottom and left the noodles a little bare. Service was excellent and we never felt rushed. My fiancé ordered the espresso martini with cold foam to finish. I am not usually a fan of espresso martinis, but this one was impressive. The cold foam and chocolate-covered espresso beans stood out. Looking forward to coming back in the summer to try the patio.

We started our dinner with the garlic Parmesan Tuscan wings - so crispy, so flavorful - and the truffle fries - crispy outside and pillow inside, just enough truffle flavor. For the main course, I got the Valentine special - sirloin and lobster. The most I can say about it is that it was filling. The sirloin was cooked well, but the meat was just tough. The lobster was also on the small side and stuck to the shell ( a good portion of the meat was missed because I wasn't allowed to eat like a savage). For $42, I could have made a better choice. My wife got the pork chops - now that was a good pick! The glaze was sweet, but not too sweet, and she even enjoyed the squash (which she rarely eats). For dessert, I got the tiramisu, which was again okay, nothing spectacular. My wife enjoyed the valentine dessert (a red velvet cake with cream cheese and covered in chocolate). The biggest flaw I saw is their seating arrangement - we felt very claustrophobic. For parties of two, they have a huge series of benches with a tiny table and chairs on the other side. We were initially seated between two couples (one of which was the end), and they moved their table so my tiny wife can squeeze in between to sit on the bench. I'm so glad they left soon after and we asked to take their seat. I regret some of my choices, and should have tempered my expectations, mistaking this place as a fancy restaurant. It was a decent experience, perhaps shaded by a busy Friday date night.

The salad was a tremendous mixture of sliced tomatoes, vegetables and cheeses with shaved sirloin that was cooked perfectly medium rare. This was an excellent dish. Another had the spaghetti carbonara, which had a beautiful flavor of smokey guanciale and creamy al dente pasta. Superb with lots of parmigiana reggiano. Lastly, we had the eggplant. You can see from the picture that this was a gigantic dish that could've easily fed three people! Our service was right on point and outstanding. Because my daughter indicated she had been into Greece recently, brought us over a slice of a fantastic three-layer cake with a chocolate ganache. If you have no other reason than to come to DaCapo, try the dessert. It's absolutely worth a trip. The portions are exuberant and we brought about half of our food home. Four of us ate for about $130 and I left a $30 tip. This was just excellent and we will be back.

The makeover is stunning and Max A Mia's design team really deserves a lot of credit for putting together such a gorgeous design. The walled bar that used to be closed in is now open and very inviting, and the open dining room furniture and décor look modern and glitzy. Their dinner menu speaks with an Italian accent, so you'll see Minestrone, Arancini, Meatballs, Pasta, Parmigiana, Lasagne, and Pizzas among the fish, chicken, and steak choices. Arianna was our server, and she was a gem. With an engaging personality off the charts, she wowed us with her effortless knowledge of the menu, explaining every minute detail of the cocktail and meal specials we asked about. She started us off with a complimentary basket of assorted breads served with a baked head of garlic and a ramekin of tomato sugo. Three of us had cocktails, a Rio Lowball ($13) with cacacha, sauvignon blanc syrup, and lime quarters, a Paper Plane ($13) with bourbon, aperol, amaro, and lemon, and one of their non-alcohol choices -a Pink & Bubbly ($10). Max a Mia takes non-alcoholic drinks seriously, they were quite a few NA cocktails on the menu PLUS four NA wines ($10-$14/glass) for a Sparkling Reisling, a Riesling, a Sauvignon Blanc, and a Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot. I definitely wasn't in an NA mood, so the Paper Plane was my choice after a discussion with Arianna. She gave me great advice, because it was strong, smooth, and excellent. Our meal choices were from every corner of Max a Mia's menu - two Lobster Fra Diavlos (@ $36), a Brooklyn Chicken Parmigiana ($31), an Eggplant Lasagna ($27), and a Truffle Mushroom Pizza ($19). I was one of the Lobster Fra Diavlos, and I have to tell ya, it was one of the best meals I've had all year. It was one of the evening's specials, and Arianna described it in detail - a half pound of lobster meat, an in-depth explanation of Buccatini pasta, and reassurance that I was OK with a "spicy" sauce, which I enthusiastically am. The lobster was perfect, the pasta was great, and yes... that sauce sure was spicy. We ended the evening with a visit to the dessert menu with a Tiramisu ($9), a Bocci Ball ($9 with bonus points for presentation because it came out sliced), an Affogato, and a big dish of vanilla gelato ($7). I had the Affogato (Espresso, vanilla gelato, house made biscotti) and it was a perfect mix of flavors and textures. Our pre-Thanksgiving family meal was fantastic, and we enjoyed every detail of the food, service, atmosphere, and the manager's visit who came over to chat with us. Five stars for sure. Historical Note So, what became of the old Max A Mia space? Today it's occupied by Dogology pet supplies and New England Puppy Rescue.

Same with the artichoke, pepper and tomato (hard to see). We had to supplement the toppings with extra tomatoes and garlic. For what we got, it would better to just make our own at home.
