    Friends that have become family!

Such an awesome restaurant. I had friends meet me there from out of State and we had such a wonderful lunch! Lindsay was an amazing service provider, sweet, fun and very personable. The Owner even came over to visit with us. We had so much fun. The food was wonderful, we sat outside, the atmosphere was beautiful. Definitely five stars! We all loved it there! Thank you.

Very good food and great ambience and the service is excellent and I love the restaurant

They have a very nice covered patio area for Al fresco dining. Food and service are both dependably good although a little on the pricey side.

Rigatoni Bolognese, and a Cosmo to drink

Who didn't drink or excellent as usual. I like the Aviance too. It's very homey and open dining room. The service was OK. We went in an off time around 4 o'clock so maybe they had a skeleton shift because it was a tad slow, but we will be back. The food is good. One comment about the restroom... The family/handicap restroom was not available so I went into the regular women's restroom. The toilets are extremely low there I recently had knee surgery and it was extremely difficult to maneuver. Not asking to change everything up, but I think it would be a great idea to put handrails in one of the toilet stalls in the ladies room.

Always good. Italian staples. The managers will often comp dessert which is nice. If we want standard Italian fare this is where we go.

These were crispy, with goat cheese, crushed pecans and dates. These were excellent! The roasted beet salad was a bit odd. I couldn't find a single beet. It wasn't bad, it had a ton of kale. The winner was Ahi Tuna Bowl. This had rice, avocado, cucumber, edamame and tuna, topped with sriracha. This was flavorful, tasty and a generous portion. I would return here again.

We had a 630 reservation and we seated immediately. This restaurant is very attractively decorated, warm and cozy. One end of the room had a huge stone fireplace and we had a good view of the kitchen. We started with drinks and a terrific little bread basket of freshly baked bread that was topped with a butter infused with just a touch of cinnamon. That was really delicious. Our server took our entrée order of the Chatham Bay fish fry and short ribs of beef bourguignon. The fish and chips was very very good on the fish. Two large pieces of cod that were perfectly deep-fried in a thin but crunchy coating that was excellent. The shoestring fries were a little less impressive in the sense that they looked a bit industrial without a lot of character, but were passable. This dish would've been an 8 out of 10 if the fries had a greater degree of character. This was accompanied by a remoulade, malt vinegar. The short ribs of beef were exceptionally good and would have made Julia Child proud. Short ribs of beef slow cooked in red wine, onion, bacon, and mushrooms, accompanied by mashed potatoes, root veggies. For the two of us, $99. $120 with the tip. The service was prompt, polite, and professional. This was worth a second try.

The place was busy the whole time we were there, so I highly recommend making a reservation. Amazing service and delicious food! We dined on the outdoor patio. The food was fresh and came out fast. Rigatoni a'la Toro was tasty. Others had something else I had no interest in to remember the name. Their menu offers a variety of choices, including options that are gluten free, dairy free, and soy free. The women's restroom on the second floor was originally Abigail's bedroom. Heard it's haunted after 10pm by Abigail, the original tavern owner's wife who was murdered, haunts the place, but we didn't see any paranormal activities or ghosts. We would definitely come back and suggest you give this place a try if you are in Weatogue, CT and Simsbury, CT.

From time to time, servers share stories about setting up a room the night before, only to return the next day and find everything rearranged. There have even been sightings of Abigail herself walking through the restaurant. The history says she was beheaded by her husband when he returned home early from a voyage at sea and caught her with her boyfriend. Abigail's also holds a special place in my heart, as we had our rehearsal dinner here and returned for brunch after our wedding. It has never failed to disappoint. The food is consistently excellent, and the service is always top-notch. On our most recent visit, we had a party of eight and were seated upstairs, which was perfect for privacy. Once our husbands get together, things can get a bit loud, so the privacy was much appreciated. We started with mussels, calamari and oysters Rockefeller. The calamari stood out for me-olive oil, lemon, kalamata olives and peppers gave it great flavor. I ordered the blackened sea bass special with risotto. The fish was cooked perfectly and delicious, though I would've liked a bit more char. One thing to note: the dish came with shrimp, which wasn't listed- fine for me, but important for those with allergies. Other dishes included bolognese, seafood fra diavolo and steaks, all of which were thoroughly enjoyed. Drinks were excellent, with great wine selection. Our server was fantastic- attentive, very patient and good-natured, even with all the jokes and antics. Overall, it was an excellent evening and a place we always look forward to returning to. Reservations are highly recommended. Brunch is also excellent, and the outdoor patio is a great bonus in warmer weather.

The presentation was SO unique and the truffle oil made it incredible. The crispy artichokes could have been up there too, but they were a bit too salty as well as the lemon aioli. The butternut squash risotto was delicious, but the shrimp had a slightly odd taste.. Not bad, just off. The chicken wrap was really good and the fries were perfectly crispy. Overall, such a great experience and I would 100,000% go again, especially for that salad alone. Our waiter was super nice! I love great service.

No worries...we were trying to get out as quickly as possible as soon as the drinks came. I ordered an old fashioned and my husband got a bourbon on the rocks. Between the 5 minutes it took to get to us, his ice was half melted which meant they already likely had this poured and just snagged it for him and my old fashioned tasted like pure sugar. I couldn't taste the bourbon and I tried my husbands drink and it was so watered down the bourbon color was almost clear. They brought his glass out and the waiter noticed something and immediately took it back and they seemed to have poured it into another glass which then watered it down even more!!! I got the lobster bisque as an appetizer and WOW, I don't even know why they call it a bisque. It was obviously cooked in a seafood broth and overly salty as opposed to the cream base of an actual bisque. My husband ordered the filet mignon. This cut of beef is perfect all on its own but they brought it out drenched in a soup of a tangy tasting sauce that covered the plate. You couldn't even taste the steak. The mashed potatoes looked so undercooked just by looking at them. When I asked how they were, he compared them to an instant mix box kind. I got the bolognese pasta. Again, no seasoning whatsoever for being a bolognese which should have herbs and spices. The service was lackluster, we got a water refill once, the waiter rushed everytime he was at our table and was even rushing writing stuff down. THE WORST PART was the ambience. I was hoping to have a nice date night on a Tuesday night, instead all the tables are so crammed together that you can't even hear your own thoughts. We were having to sort of yell back and forth just to have a conversation. We couldn't get out of there fast enough! Go across the street to Flemings or Capital Grill in Hartford. A LOT more quality and peace for almost the same price. DO NOT RECOMMEND NOT EVEN FOR DRINKS!!!

We were seated by the window and were given freshly baked bread. We ordered the French classics: mussels, escargot, duck leg confit, and steak and fries. The mussels came out first and were pretty average. I usually like sipping the wine broth it comes with or dipping fries/bread into the broth. The escargot had plenty of oil and seasoning. It was actually too salty even though my coworker requested less salt on everything. I enjoyed dipping the fresh bread into the oil. Lastly came the entrees. I was a bit disappointed in both of them. The hanger steak was cooked medium rare like I wanted but the texture was not great. I was hoping for a more tender cut and this was a bit tough and lean. The frites were cooked well and very crispy. The duck confit was very tender but I didn't think it was amazing. Overall I don't think I will be returning to this restaurant with so many other great options around. I might be biased as I am not too familiar with French cuisine but we already sampled most of the classics already.
