I went to DaCapo with my wife for an early Valentine's Day date. The building looked pretty fancy for what amounts to be a family Italian restaurant. The food was pretty good. We started our dinner with the garlic Parmesan Tuscan wings - so crispy, so flavorful - and the truffle fries - crispy outside and pillow inside, just enough truffle flavor. For the main course, I got the Valentine special - sirloin and lobster. The most I can say about it is that it was filling. The sirloin was cooked well, but the meat was just tough. The lobster was also on the small side and stuck to the shell ( a good portion of the meat was missed because I wasn't allowed to eat like a savage). For $42, I could have made a better choice. My wife got the pork chops - now that was a good pick! The glaze was sweet, but not too sweet, and she even enjoyed the squash (which she rarely eats). For dessert, I got the tiramisu, which was again okay, nothing spectacular. My wife enjoyed the valentine dessert (a red velvet cake with cream cheese and covered in chocolate). The biggest flaw I saw is their seating arrangement - we felt very claustrophobic. For parties of two, they have a huge series of benches with a tiny table and chairs on the other side. We were initially seated between two couples (one of which was the end), and they moved their table so my tiny wife can squeeze in between to sit on the bench. I'm so glad they left soon after and we asked to take their seat. I regret some of my choices, and should have tempered my expectations, mistaking this place as a fancy restaurant. Gorgeous Friday evening with a nice breeze we had a opportunity to eat dinner outside at DaCapo. One in our party had the DaCapo salad with steak. The salad was a tremendous mixture of sliced tomatoes, vegetables and cheeses with shaved sirloin that was cooked perfectly medium rare. This was an excellent dish. Another had the spaghetti carbonara, which had a beautiful flavor of smokey guanciale and creamy al dente pasta. Superb with lots of parmigiana reggiano. Lastly, we had the eggplant. You can see from the picture that this was a gigantic dish that could've easily fed three people! Our service was right on point and outstanding. Because my daughter indicated she had been into Greece recently, brought us over a slice of a fantastic three-layer cake with a chocolate ganache. If you have no other reason than to come to DaCapo, try the dessert. It's absolutely worth a trip. The portions are exuberant and we brought about half of our food home. Four of us ate for about $130 and I left a $30 tip. This was just excellent and we will be back. read more

Ate outside tonight. Perfect summer weather. Our waiter was friendly and efficient. Drinks and food arrived promptly and well timed. The braised lamb gnocchi was a very good with a nicely flavored basting flavored gravy. The gnocchi were well cooked light and pleasing. The side of the broccoli rabe was perfect. Crisp not too bitter and not drowned in garlic. My wife had the linguine carbonara which was pretty close to the classic with an egg butter sauce . Not the heavy creamy crap That one usually gets. Awesome experience last night. The outdoor seating is really nice and I was happy to see the lack of bugs. The food was better than I remember. I went with a big party, and everyone got something different. Lasagna, cod, pizza, steak, all incredible. I have to say, though, the bread for the table and the garlic bread were the absolute highlight. The garlic bread reminded me of Pizza Hut in the best way possible. Marinara sauce was divine. Our waiter, Nick, was extremely busy and still took the time to talk with us and make us feel welcome. The GM is the most lovely guy and truly cares about this restaurant. Highly recommend. DaCapo food and restaurant are excellent. Good Italian variety. Our waitress Daniella was excellent. She was very sweet and accommodating as we had 2 small children with us. She placed the children's food order as soon as we sat down so the kids had something to eat quickly while we enjoyed our calamari appetizers which were excellent! We've eaten there several times and have always had great meals. Would highly recommend DaCapo. Who didn't drink or excellent as usual. I like the Aviance too. It's very homey and open dining room. The service was OK. We went in an off time around 4 o'clock so maybe they had a skeleton shift because it was a tad slow, but we will be back. The food is good. One comment about the restroom... The family/handicap restroom was not available so I went into the regular women's restroom. The toilets are extremely low there I recently had knee surgery and it was extremely difficult to maneuver. Not asking to change everything up, but I think it would be a great idea to put handrails in one of the toilet stalls in the ladies room. read more

Don't waste your time or money. We ordered the calamari and it was soggy and rubbery. We ordered the penne vodka with shrimp and then had to fight with the tails that were left on the shrimp. Not an easy meal to simply enjoy. When we asked the waiter about the tails left on the shrimp, he said he gets complaints all the time about the tails left on. So , why don't they take them off??? Topping it off, there was a black fly in my beer glass. no offer to reduce the bill or comp anything. It's too pricey to put up with. read more

Da Capo is one of those sneaky good restaurants. They have a gorgeous outdoor patio that is great to sit during the warmer months for example. But in the meantime, it keeps packing them in on a recent Saturday night. It ran like a well oiled machine. The server uses a toast device to make sure orders are promptly placed (and for paying the bill at the end). As a result our big Caesar salad came out with good speed. It had the perfect blend of dressing with some cheese sprinkled and crunchy croutons. Yum. The pizzas are always a hit. I am partial to the bronzino which is a good find for just $30. Lots of fish to eat with a nice balanced flavor. Pastas are also good. The chicken park is a very good example of the dish. Heck the bar even makes lively cocktails. I enjoyed a great old fashioned. Overall, this place has only matured with time. It knows what it is and it does it quite well. A great Avon Italian restaurant for over a decade. read more

We have never had a bad meal here. Love the energy and atmosphere of the place - nothing pretentious about the staff or the food. Highly recommended the amazingly thin and crispy eggplant and zucchini chips. Delicious chicken parm, pasta bolognese and other Italian dishes. Just got the freshest, most tasty pizza I've had since forever. Crispy oven-toasted crust ably supporting sweet tomatoes, red onions and mild Italian sausage underneath a halo of fresh basil leaves. We went on a Thursday night and quickly went from a party of three to a party of seven. Everything was excellent from the drinks, the food, and desserts. But the best part was the staff - the staff not only did their job they made sure that everyone felt welcome. After finishing the main course the three kids, all 10 and under, wanted another serving of mussels - the staff got them out within minutes and watched as they devoured a second serving. Da capo is a nice restaurant- the service is great and the vibe is cozy traditional Italian. The food is hit or miss though- nothing spectacular but you can get a great dish with fresh tasting ingredients and comfort. The Da Capo chips and fried calamari are the best apps in my opinion. They have great salads, that have shrunk over the years, but are yummy. The toscana is the best salad. They have great entrees too such as the rigatoni bolognese, penne vodka and the haddock. They also have nice specials on most weekends. The drinks here yummy and the desserts are lovely- try the chocolate mousse cake, canoli or tiramisu. I only give three stars though because I feel the food has lost quality over the years and it's a bit overpriced. read more

It's a panini okay, but we're going for dinner... I was so happy we went. I had the seafood risotto minus scallops.. I know but unfortunately scallops don't like me the way others like them. I was glad they were able to accommodate. My husband had the short rib special. It was amazing. I also tried the sangria and the peach cobbler drink. I cannot believe I am finally getting around to finally leaving a review for DaCapo! I've been going to DaCapo for years and every single time the food has been amazing! Most recently I took my grandfather out for lunch and we had the most amazing pasta!! We started with the DaCapo chips which are always so crunchy and salty and paired with a cucumber dipping sauce which is just the best. Both my grandpa and myself tried a pasta special which was out of this world. Huge pillows of three cheeses with an amazing flavorful sauce loaded with peas and red peppers. The manager, Julian, was super welcoming and came to our table to ensure everything was perfect. I watched him interact with others that walked in and he was very attentive. This is an awesome Italian spot right on route 44 in Avon! They have a beautiful outdoor area as well as a sizable indoor space where you can enjoy their offerings. An interesting thing about this place is that many of the dishes, both salads and mains, can be ordered as a single order or as a family style, which makes it a great spot for groups! Also, I've heard their pizza is delicious but unfortunately we didn't order any this time around. The staff was very nice and the service was great. We sampled the calamari which was very fresh and tasted great, as well as the zucchini and eggplant chips with a nice dill yogurt dipping sauce. Both appetizers were very good. For dinner we had chicken parm with fresh cavatelli, which my Italian husband really enjoyed. I had the tortellini special with gulf shrimp and a pesto sauce with spinach and it was perfection! Some other dishes around our table were the cavatelli gamberi, and chicken Marsala. All were fresh and tasty. Definitely will come! read more
