This was definitely the Friday hangout spot for my middle school friends, since during that time argyle (the nearby middle school) didn't have transportation. Best gluten free pizza in the area. Includes DC. The crust is cauliflower so it's pretty crispy but also stable. My first bite immediately reminded me of Aljon's in central NJ, the pizza I grew up on--IT IS THAT GOOD. One of the best pizzas I've had since moving to MD ~10 years ago. That includes regular pizza, from before I found out I had a wheat allergy. A GF crust is never going to be as good as traditional, even the best cauliflower crust baked perfectly (which this was, btw), but the sauce and cheese were utter perfection. The service is excellent. The people who work there are pretty chill. There are daily specials, so there's always something to try. Maybe next time I'll try the GF pasta. Previously I've had salad from there which was fine (probably a 3.5 stars for that, but tbh that is about right for a pizza/subs spot and no complaints there). Note to my fellow gf people: it's been over 12 hours and no issues so if you're gluten/wheat sensitive you're probably fine (can't vouch for folks with celiacs since I don't have that). I'd visited this place since I was a child and my grandmother lived in the neighborhood. I visited today hoping it was some resemblance to the past but NO! I ordered a large pepperoni pizza and it was HORRIBLE!! It had barely any sauce and very little cheese. It tasted like pizza that you'd get at a school lunch or a third world pizza place. I used to live nearby and would get pizzas sometimes, but didn't fully appreciate this local gem until I moved away to DC proper. We now go OUT OF OUR WAY to make excuses to run errands nearby so we can pick up a few pies to bring home! Every single time we bring it home, we say "It can't possibly be good as we remember it" because it's normally a couple months between when we can snag some. But EVERY TIME it's still amazing. It's just an authentically delicious pizza. We get plain cheese because we don't want to spoil the perfection of the original, or sully it with extra ingredients. A thin crust that isn't too crispy or soggy, bright, tangy sauce that isn't too sweet or spicy, and delicious cheese that isn't too thick and lets the spices and sauce still shine. A wonderful symphony of flavors in which every ingredient plays the right notes in harmony--I know that's corny, and we are just talking about pizza here, but it's so true! read more

It was several years since I last had their pizza and I couldn't quite remember how it was. I'm happy to say that the pizza was awesome. Overall, the pizza reminds me of those from New York because the crust is slightly crispy and thin. They have a special on Mondays where the cheese pizzas are half off! There is a lot of cheese which I enjoyed and the sauce had a good tang. I'm pretty impressed by how much better they are compared to other pizza places in the MoCo area. First of all I want to state that I used a Groupon for the behemoth of a meal I got from here. However, although I did not pay "full" price for my meal, I would gladly shell down full price to eat here. Not that it is an expensive place. After looking at their menu extensively tons of items are worth it. On to my meal. I ordered the Pizza Stop special which is just a ton of different meats in a large sub with more meat and some more meat in case the meat inside was just not enough meat. It was awesome! I had a side of cheesy garlic bread which was the worst part of my order. They were good, but actually the day after when I reheated the bread it was better than the night before when I made my order. This is actually why I did not give them a perfect score. The last thing I ordered was the pulled pork BBQ sandwich with coleslaw. I had high hopes for this sandwich and it was good, but not what I expected. I remember when this place opened in the early 1970s or late 1960s. It used to be a regular hang-out for those of us who helped build the Trolley Museum nearby. The shop has changed names a few times and I must say that it is as good as ever. On Sunday (yesterday) we had company over and wanted to order pizza. We decided to give Pizza Stop a try, ever though we had not been there for a few decades. A very friendly lady took the order and read it back to ensure it was correct. She was able to give us the 20" STOP pizza special with spinach instead of green peppers at no extra charge. The 20" pizzas are not yet on the menu so you have to ask for them. The STOP combo came with mushrooms, onions, meatball (broken up ground beef), pepperoni, sausage, and spinach. The meats appeared to be high end products that did not taste salty or seem overly fatty. The spinach was in the form of thin, tasty leaves. We also ordered a half cheese / half black olive pizza. The cheese side had a flavorful cheese. The olives were of a good consistency and very tasty. Our two grandsons who shared it, and the adults who sampled it, thought it was excellent. These were thin crust pizzas with enough sauce to be tasty without drenching the pie. The cheese seemed to be good quality, very tasty, and used sparingly. By that I mean they did not drape the pie with cheap, gloppy cheese, as if often the case. Pizza Stop definitely exceeded our expectations and they help take the guilt trip out of having pizza. The crust is thin, the cheese and sauce are applied judiciously, and I suspect the meats are not as high in sodium and fat as one would normally expect. If you are looking for a cheap chain-store pizza glopped with tomato paste and covered with thick cheese this is not the place to go. My wife and I kept getting recommended Pizza Stop by our friends so we decided to give it a try. This five star review is well deserving as we had a genuinely great experience. The atmosphere is pretty chill. Wait staff was highly attentive and courteous. Place was neat and clean. The food was delicious and super reasonably priced! Nice selection of beers and wines, which was perfect for me because I'm a beer guy but my wife is a wine lover. We ordered the Philly cheese steak, wings as well as a large pepperoni pizza and they came out in a reasonable amount of time but cooked without any sort of issues. We will definitely come back! I used to come here twice a week because they had decent lunch special with sub and fries for about $10. The price recently increased which is understandable in todays environment but it's no longer the same value for me. I can actually go into some of the local restaurants and get a better deal. Pizza Stop has decent food but i can get a larger, better sub plus fries from Twinbrook Deli for about the same price. Creek Lodge and Outback are restaurants that have lunch specials as well for slightly more, but I think the food and portion sizes are better than the lunch special at Pizza Stop. Big Greek cafe has $6 gyros on Wednesdays and they're much better than the pizza stop version with more meat that's prepared fresh. There are still places in the area that offer value if you search. I might go to pizza stop on occasion but I've been finding other hidden gems in the area over the past 2-3 months. read more

I have been in town from Los Angeles for the past few weeks and I have visited Pizza Stop several times during my visit; The pizza is just delicious! I am originally from MD and have been a fan of Pizza Stop for as long as I can remember. I have been having great experiences at my recent visits. The food taste really fresh and I have loved trying the new items that they have been previewing on Sundays. The ambiance has been great and the new ownership has been super accommodating and friendly. Everyone has been pleasant and efficient. From the owners, to the management to the staff-I am super impressed. I will definitely be coming back especially on Football Sunday's! I caution you to confirm your order, not just in a repeat of what you ordered but the actual definition of what you ordered... We ordered one slice of cheese pizza for our kids to split, I got a medium peperoni pizza, and the wife got a turkey burger with fries. When all the food came out, we noticed the turkey "burger" was actually a turkey sandwich - as in turkey cold cuts (and they were cold). My wife asked why was there no burger, and was told they don't have turkey burgers. My wife pointed out on the menu it said "turkey burger" and the response from the waitress was that they didn't have any but she could heat up the turkey. I scanned the menu some more and noticed they had both a turkey burger and a turkey sandwich so went up to ask what the difference was. The response I got was again an offer to heat it up... like that somehow remotely addresses my question. Being a little dumbfounded/caught off guard by her response, I told her that we didn't get what we ordered but that we would eat it anyway and sat down. A few minutes later we realized she forgot the fries so we asked about them. She didn't say a word, disappeared around the corner for a few minutes, and then later came with piping hot fries (we heard her putting them in the fryer when she went around the corner). The only words she uttered when she came back were "enjoy" as she dropped them off literally inches in front of my 9 month old son... serious places out of the fryer hot food in grabbing distance of a baby?!?!? Also no apology for her obviously forgetting, she just kept walking on. It's not like they were buys, there were two tables in there including us. I gave up waiting for a check so I went to pay at the register. She took care of the other tables bill and tried to hand it and their credit card to me, When I explained that wasn't mine, she went to go hand it off, came back, looked like she started to ring me up, and then just walked away. The cook (and I guess manager) had to come over to ring me up after asking if she had ringed us up or not. The only reason I am not giving them one star is my pizza was actually good (not great but good) and same with the fries. My kids pizza had obviously been out for a while as it was a little dry, but she had admitted they made the single slices in advance (I guess I should have asked how in advance in top of "by burger you mean an actual burger right?". So I decided to stop in and grab a bite to eat at Pizza Stop. I was hungry and in the mood for something quick but not your typical fast food. The prices were very reasonable and the service was good. Usually I would take my food and run, but I decided to dine in as I was pretty hungry. The weather was so nice I decided to sit outside and enjoy my chicken salad sandwich, salad, and drink. The chicken salad was seasoned well and light enough that I was full but didn't feel weighed down afterwards. I even had room for a few delicious chocolate chip cookies. Went in a couple days ago to grab some quick lunch. Ordered a philly steak and cheese with green peppers, mushrooms, and hot peppers, but they forgot to put the mushrooms. The sub comes with fries but the fries tasted frozen and super bland. Never left fries unfinished at a place till now. My order did come out pretty fast though. Just moved into the area a couple months ago and decided to try the pizza place right across the street. My fiancé's favorite is the pepperoni pizza with extra cheese. It was great. The buffalo chicken salad that I usually get was a hit or miss. The first time I got it the lettuce looked old but the buffalo chicken was amazing! The second time I got it was better. The customer service was pretty good. Again it all depends on who is working at that time. Sometimes when you call for delivery after 7pm they wouldn't be able to do it because I guess their driver leaves at a certain time. This is now Pizza Stop in name only. Pizza Stop was founded and run for many years by a woman named Iris. In about 2015 she retired and sold the business to a long time employee. He has recently sold the business. We recently got pizza and a sub from the business, an order we've made dozens of times. The man who took the order was very friendly but both the pizza and the sub were prepared wrong. One of the pizzas was missing toppings, the sub had stuff we hadn't asked for. It wasn't worth it to call and complain since neither item tasted like we remembered it. Frankly it all tasted like very generic carryout that can be had from a thousand places. All that said, I wish the new owners well. It's a tough business and they've bought a well established business. They seem like nice people but I wasn't happy with their product and don't see a reason to go back. read more

During the midst of a snowstorm 3 days ago decided to try out "Pizza Stop" while coming from Smoothie King right next door. Long story short I ordered a 16" "Philly Cheese Steak Pizza" off of their menu which stated the Pizza only came with Mozzarella and Parmesan Cheese on it. The cashier was extremely helpful and even brought the pizza out to my truck while I waited which I greatly appreciated and tipped for as well. I didn't think to check the pizza because THE MENU WAS CLEAR. When I got home about 20 mins away in the snow mind you, my family alerted me to the fact that there were BIG SQUARES OF AMERICAN CHEESE ALL OVER THE PIZZA. Which was not listed in the ingredients on the menu. My mother and sisters all aren't fans of American cheese and no one I know ever puts it on pizza. The roads were extremely unsafe so I had to take the loss and eat the Large pizza alone while my family ordered more food. Today FEBRUARY 17, 2021 I went to smoothie king again and stopped by pizza stop to lodge my complaint. I spoke with a manager who wasn't able to help me under his own power. Therefore he called an owner who told him they couldn't do anything for me because "you ate the pizza". Mind you I explained all of these factors to them and they didn't even offer a DISCOUNT! The pizza would have been good if it didn't have that cheap American cheese spread across it. All in all this was a Completely distasteful experience and the owners handling of the situation was extremely improper in my customer service experience. I would not recommend eating here. I mean I guess it's a bar and you can't smoke inside, but this place is located in a strip mall so it's weird to have a bank on the strip and then this place with half hazzard dudes with beers and cigs hanging out. But again, I was like its Aspen Hill what did you want. So grabbed the pizza and sticks and drove the 2.8 miles back to the house. I was disappointed at just the sight of these pizza. It looks like it was cooked a few hours ago and left on a counter. But being starved and thinking well it's pizza how bad could it be. I took a bite, and that one bite confirmed my suspensions about this pizza that lay in front me. Cold and not that good. It reminded me of cold chucky cheese pizza or school pizza. I've lived 5 minutes away from this place all my life and I only discovered it a few years ago! Pizza Stop is tucked into Plaza Del Mercado next to Baskin Robbins. This isn't the best pizza place in town, but it has what I need: pizza, fries...and gyros! I was always a little insecure about my pronunciation of the word gyro, and I raised my eyebrows when the only pronunciation that Pizza Stop knows of this word is the incorrect "JI RO." An excellent cheap neighborhood pizza, pasta, and sandwich place. Everything was freshly made, using very good ingredients. My calzone (they called it a stromboli) was extremely good, and my wife's eggplant parmagiana on spaghetti was also very good. In fact, my wife called the calzone the best she had ever had, and kept ignoring her (by her judgement) excellent dish in favor of picking at my food. The waiter was polite and friendly and offered decent service and the prices are perfect, better than most delivery chains. The only reason that this isn't a five star review is that the place is a complete dump. Glaring fluorescent lights, cheap tables and chairs, no booths, the whole nine yards. Certainly better than the chain pizza delivery joints, but not as good as the pizza you would get at a decent sit-down place, like Mamma Lucia, My main complaint was that the pizza was uneven - half of it was very thin and the other half was much thicker, so I can't really get a beat on whether their pizza is normally thin or thick. Pizza Stop has the BEST BLT sandwiches and Chicken Salad Sandwich I think I have ever had. There Chicken Salad might even be better then my mom's 'rest her soul " the chicken is always so fresh. The BLT's are great the beacon is never over cooked.   When ever I order one I always get an extra one for the next day.  I always get delivery and the delivery service is great. The driver's  always ask me if my order is OK before they leave. On the very rare occasion when they might forget a drink or something they come right back with it.  I never leave reviews this is my first.
