I picked up a large cheese and a large mushroom pizza for 4 hungry college students based on yelp reviews and the prices posted on the supposed Pizza Stop website. The food was mediocre and the prices were a scam. For 2 single item pizzas, a greek salad and large fries and large onion rings I paid $60. The pizza crust tasted like something from Little Caesars or another chain. The rest of the ingredients on the pizzas were similarly meh! Everything else was fine but nothing special. Portion sizes were not generous and the promised 16 inch pizzas were actually 14.75" in diameter (see photo). In the end I was disappointed and felt ripped off. read more

This has been our go to place for years for solid Greek-style pizza, buffalo tenders and Greek salad. And it's always fresh. And they deliver. And they're always pleasant. And it's better than any of the other crap pizza in this town. (And I am a bit of a pizza snob, growing up in CT, where Apizza is a thing!) Enough ands, now for the buts.....as another reviewer mentioned, there has been some shrinkage in the past year or so; pies are smaller, slices are smaller. They also seem to be skimping on the toppings, cheese and sauce were minimal which results in a kind of dry pizza, and if you are reheating leftovers, it just exacerbates the issue. That said, it's still pretty damn good and and delivery makes it a perfect option for those days I don't feel like cooking. And that is everyday. read more

OK, so I walked in on MLK evening after visiting my wife in the hospital, just as they were cleaning up to close. Chairs were stacked and the floor was just mopped. Love this place. Family like atmosphere, good food at really reasonable prices. I usually get a slice or a sub at lunch, but today I decided to get a grilled chicken Caesar salad and was very pleasantly surprised. They were just finishing up cooking my chicken when I walked in so it was warm and well seasoned. The dressing was thick and yummy, crutons crunchy and garlicy. Remarkably solid no frills go to spot for daily lunch. Sandwiches and wraps are large and value priced with excellent ingredients. The pizza slices are small and only $2. I've only visited a few times since moving to the neighborhood, but they get a serious five stars. Living in Brookline is expensive enough without having to pay out the nose for a casual (usually over-rated) meal, and Pizza Stop's prices are as crazy reasonable as it gets. You'd think that with low prices, you'd be getting just-passable food, but everything I've had has been fantastic! The burgers taste incredibly fresh (~$3.50), and the onion rings are just amazing. And under $2 for a slice? Yes, please! I've heard good things about the subs...I'll have to try one of those next. Atmosphere: It's a basic takeout pizza place setup (except dependably cleaner) - don't plan on bringing a big group here, since it's got seating for maybe 10 people, total. But, for a few of you, it definitely gets the job done. The credit card thing is unfortunate, but that's how it is living in Boston...you can never assume you'll be able to use one. Used to love this place as a kid: pizza was decent owner was nice. He's still there now but, the kids he has working for him are disgraceful and don't care. Even worse they're rude as hell, act like this is they're clubhouse and the customer is intruding on their hangout. Wanted to smack this kid with the long hair he was so rude. Sad to see such rude service being tolerated by the owner, probably his ingrate nephews who have no respect for him giving them a place to work. That's too bad, but not the customers problem. This place makes our favorite pizza and kept us happily fed every Saturday during COVID lockdown. Sadly one day we stopped to pick up our pizza and the customer in front of us was trying to order his lunch in broken English, and by pointing at the overhead menu. The man behind the counter (owner?), rather than helping the customer, said, "I can't understand what you're saying." After a few times of a back-and-forth exchange he finally lost patience and said, "Never mind, you'll just get what I give you." This happened during country-wide protestations of racial intolerance and I was appalled that a business I was purposefully supporting would treat a customer with such intolerance and derision. I expressed my anger and lack of acceptance of this behavior to the owner right then and there (I'm not sure he's the owner, I'm referring to the man who is always behind the counter taking orders, answering the phone, etc. so I'm assuming he's the owner) and want to share this information in case there are others who want to know. A few times since then I've ordered pizza because it's SO GOOD but when I picked it up, I remembered the treatment of that customer and it soured my experience. So...we will boycott and not support individuals/business who don't act with kindness towards fellow human beings. read more

This is a hole in the wall with no place to sit, but in my mind, the pizzas are divine and completely memorable. I lived near this place in 1992-93, then I moved away from Boston until 2005. In that time, I don't think I had any pizza to match that Pizza Stop Pizza. I don't know what it is that makes this pizza so good, but it's just as I remembered it. Perfectly cooked, dough that's just puffy enough, not too greasy, excellent sauce. I highly recommend this place. The staff are a bunch of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. When I went there for the first time after moving back to Boston, I didn't have enough cash for the pizza (it's a cash only joint). They said, "Pay us the next time," and I did. Good food. Good price. Lousy atmosphere. The guys are usually having inappropriate conversations for the workplace or general public when I'm in there. For this reason, I order my food to go. With that being said they are very friendly. I just don't think it occurs to them that some topics of conversation could be a turn off for some customers. read more
