Beef supreme pizza
Mahsa N.

This place is so good!! You just give it a try and surely you won't regret it. Granted, I am biased because I hadn't had Persian pizza in a really long while and what better to have on a cold winter evening than Persian pizza?! We ordered it for delivery and went with the grilled chicken pizza and the supreme beef pizza. I would recommend to do a mix of beef and chicken. We got small of each and I found that to be super filling for two individuals. The pizza was rich but not oily. It had good quantities of both meat and vegetable fillings. Also, I would highly recommend trying the pizza with ketchup or barbecue sauce. Both complement it very well specially because it's a heavy pizza but not as saucy as a Chicago deep dish!

Half Chicken Lovers (4/5), half Beef Supreme (2.5/5) medium pizza
Jasmine L.

Persian pizza in a nutshell: almost like a deep dish pizza but packed with ingredients like Persian deli meats! Optional to drizzle it with ketchup and sour cream sauce. I got a medium pizza with half being Chicken Lovers (4/5) and the other as Beef Supreme (2.5/5). My favourite was the Chicken Lovers because it was more flavourful with the corn and olives. The Beef Supreme I found to be lackluster. Overall I loved the crust on the pizza, almost like a deep dish style where it's all buttery and soft with a crisp exterior. I also appreciated that there was no dough crust on the top borders of the pizza so there's a LOT more ingredients to dough ratio haha! The pizza sizes are smaller than what you normally get at big-name pizza places and I'm on the fence about the meat toppings actually being a deli meat though..

PIZZA PULL ALERT This downtown pizza joint was ranked by @blogto as the BEST HALAL pizza in Toronto @pizzashab.downtown I am now into the world of HALAL food and its been AMAZING! @pizzashab.downtown is known for their THICK, CHEESEY PIZZA that made it SUPER GOOEY and DELISH! I tried the MEAT SUPREME PIZZA and THE Rolling Pizza (which was the first time for me). I'm used to the thin pizza but this was DIFFERENT....I loved the thicker, fluffy dough that was FILLED with cheese to make it super stretchy. There are 4 @pizza.shab locations but I went to the one downtown near Yonge and Dundas. 113 Bond St @pizzashab.downtown SAVE & SHARE #foodieonthelooose For more great food content check out https://www.instagram.com/foodieonthelooose/ and http://linktr.ee/foodieonthelooose

Small beef pizza

I went to Pizza Shab because I got a Groupon coupon for a small pizza. The restaurant is located downtown near Ryerson University. The counter person was very friendly. The restaurant was clean with plenty of seating. I got my beef pizza. It was deep crust pizza. It was okay. The problem was that it was bland and lacked seasonings. Would I go back? Maybe as their pizzas looked very nice. But they need more flavor.

One of the worse pizza recently I had ..this picture is mushroom pizza ..no mushroom I had for more than 30 dollars. This is a real picture not on the site..and other things is bad customer service...sure never come back.

Shab is a Persian/Irani style pizza which is a bit different from the traditional pizza you'd get at other pizza places. And it is very much loved by Iranians. The dough is generally a bit on the thicker side and you will notice a strong oregano and smoked deli in the non-veggie pizzas (a variation of mortadella and cocktail sausage) flavor. I believe they have another branch uptown so I think this place is their second branch targeting the high Iranian student population at Ryerson :) It may not be very easy to find the place...it's tucked in the back on the lower floor of a small building. Got the large smokey beef pizza. It was pretty good. The prices are high for the sizes. The personal pan starts at $12 and large is around $25. The large pizza is definitely smaller than a normal large pizza you'd get at Panago or Pizza Pizza for example. Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3.75/5

The pizza was really good. The toppings mix was great as well as the flavour. Loved the crust especially and so much cheese. The beef lovers had some hot dog looking meat on top that was quite odd but other than that i definitely liked the beef lovers alot more. Customer service was steller as well. The man at the front was really nice and accomadating( l used a groupon). He also made sure to check on us and asked if we needed anything and how it was mid meal. The place wasnt busy on a friday evening at all. But they do get quite alot of delievery orders through skip the dishes, uber, and pandora.

Came here with a few friends and grabbed some different 'zas to share. It was my first time having Persian pizza and I am definitely a fan. I love how thick the ingredients and cheese are. How the crust is buttery. The rolled pizza, man, I thought the sauce drizzled all over it was awesome. Definitely not something to eat every day though, I could feel my arteries clogging.

Supreme mix

Ordered supreme mix 10". Shared with a friend. It was surprisingly tasty and light, not greasy nor heavy. Highly recommended.

This place focuses on Persian dishes, so the menu is a little different, but that's exactly what makes it interesting. We tried a couple of traditional items and everything was full of flavor. The bread was fresh and warm, and the dishes had that rich, comforting feel you don't usually get from typical brunch places. You can really taste the spices and how everything is made with care. The atmosphere is cozy and has a really authentic vibe, but it's not a big space, so it does get busy and there's usually a wait--especially on weekends. Service was friendly and helpful, especially if you're new to Persian food and not sure what to order. Overall, this is a great spot if you want something different from the usual brunch routine. Just come with a little patience and enjoy the experience.

Having eleven guest we found the table seating very cramped still to the point that guest were elbowing each other, it would have been nice if the restuarant had another table allocated for us just for more space. I ordered the Dizi (Abgoosht). It came with a soup that was a bit greasy, yogurt, pickled sides and a stewed lamb. It was well cooked but I wish the food was seasoned a bit less. Some of the kabob ordered by another guest made of ground beef was an oversalted hamburger meat in shape of kabob...it was not impressive. With our large party I thought it would be interesting to comment the restaurant automatically applied 15% tip. I would give this another try but perhaps not as a big party. It's also interesting to note none of the servers were not Persian. Salamati!

Tip#1: Add a bit (or a lot!) of Sumac seasoning (dark red powder in the shaker bottle) onto your kebob meat. It has an almost sour fruity taste which really balances out and adds an unique edge to the meaty kabobs. Tip#2: You'll get small packets of butter that you're supposed to mix & melt into your rice. //APPETIZERS// We tried their Maast-e Saadeh (yogurt dip) with Persian flatbread, Zeitoon Parvardeh (olives), and the Kal Kabob (eggplant with ground walnut & pomergranate) which was my favourite and quite sour. //ENTREES// I tried the Kubideh and Jujeh (Chicken Breast) Kabob, which were both delicious and juicy. The Kabob-e-Torsh veal sirloin meat was too tough, while the the pomegranate walnut molasses was interesting to try, know that it's quite sour too! I also substituted the rice for the salad which was too overdressed with vinaigrette. //DESSERT// My ABSOLUTE favourite thing we had was the Saffron Rosewater Ice Cream. It's beautifully plated and has the perfect balance of creamy, floral, and sweet flavours with crunchy pistachio & pomergranate seeds. I would come back to Sheherzade literally just to have that amazing Saffron Rosewater Ice Cream again & again!

Darbar had absolutely hands down the most delicious kabob koobideh and polo (rice) I have ever tasted. I'm also picky about my koobideh and this was the absolute BEST. I wish we lived in Toronto so we didn't have to wait until another trip to go back! PROS: The kabob had the perfect amount of flavor and was not too dry and not too greasy. The rice also was made to perfection, again fluffy and buttery tasting without being greasy or heavy. Both were mouth-wateringly delicious! In addition to the main entree, everything else, including the side vegetables were all incredibly fresh and tasty. The portion size was huge. At first I thought this place is expensive but then I realized that the size of each "seekh" (skewer) was almost double other places. My kids loved that it came with bread (surprisingly other Persian restaurants seem to skimp on that or charge extra). I loved the "sabzi khordan" (greens) that came with the bread. Even the cheese and walnuts were tastier that what I have at home! The service was excellent. A lovely young women named Pegah served us and couldn't have been any nicer. She wasn't fake nice but actually genuinely nice. I loved the outdoor seating. It was a little loud but they had nice Persian music playing which added to the atmosphere. The tea was delicious and served nicely. I'm surprised other Persian places have the nerve to offer not fresh tea or tea bag tea. This was definitely the real deal. Most people who eat Persian food drink their tea after but I actually love it with my meal. I did not like the spice they added to the tea but the nice server replaced it with regular Persian tea without the spices. CONS: If you're super sensitive to spices you may not enjoy eating inside as the aroma is strong. Most people may not notice or even care (I don't think the other members of my family even noticed) but I had to sit outside. If we go back to Toronto in the winter when outside seating is not an option, I may just do take-out. The same spice that made the inside smell so strong was also what they put in the tea. I wish I knew what it was...perhaps cinnamon or something similar? Overall, I will be dreaming about this place until our next trip back. Lucky you folks from Toronto who don't have to wait!

The first course was Labneh with bread, hummus, & beef tartare. Second course was Lamb pide & pear salad. Third course was grilled branzino, middle eastern fried chicken, black truffle rice, and thrice cooked fries. Then there was dessert which was chocolate mousse cake & baklava. Because of my many food allergies the main server for our table was very attentive & specific in asking me what I wanted as modifications. For example I got a wagyu beef pide instead of the lamb. Every dish was really delicious, presented well & quite filling. I couldn't eat all of the food. Though I tried almost everything. Service: The pacing of the dishes was quite masterful. They really paid attention to when the food was going to come out. As I mentioned above the main server was very attentive to my food allergies. I really appreciated that as some restaurants aren't as attentive. The food was served family style so everyone could take what they wanted from the serving dishes. The dishes were served in little bowls along the tables with each bowl serving about 4 people. We had asked for one long table so it was a little snug. But we made it work. Ambiance: For dinner the lighting of the space is really dim. LOL. I would have appreciated just a little bit more light. The restaurant is in an old building so to use the washroom you had to go down two flights of stairs. The dining area is small also. But it's a pretty space. As mentioned above we asked for one long table to seat 15 people. I was expecting square tables but it was a bunch of small round tables pushed together. So the tables were really crowded with food from all the dishes. But the servers made sure to take empty serving dishes away as soon as possible. The music was a little loud for me so I had to yell to be heard. The place was packed though. Everyone at our table enjoyed the food, the service & atmosphere. The restaurant is close to Roy Thompson Hall & the other theatres nearby so it's a convenient location as well. It's too bad this place is only open for dinner. I would have loved to see how they would operate a lunch time service. In any case, Byblos was amazing. I would come back here again to try other dishes! Note: Some of my pics of the main dishes didn't turn out so it's mostly desserts that are pictures
