I've seen great reviews about this place however I am so disappointed. I order a Caesar Salad, Plain Pie and Penne a la Vodka to go. We got home and THE CHEESE IN THE SALAD ALL HAVE MOLD ON IT. I called back and the owner or the manager on the phone was kind of whatever about the situation but said that he would deliver another salad. Salad came, and the order was messed up again. Amazing vodka slice, white slice, and plain slice. Says a lot about a place when they get the basics down like that. I always order by the slice. Pizza was over an hour late. Food was terrible. When I called to follow up on the late order, they told me they'd missed the order on seamless. Then they called back to say they were out of what I ordered. So I ordered something else. Then they called again to say they found what I'd initially ordered in the freezer but it would take extra time to make. I've been working in the neighborhood for three years and never thought to stop in. Jackson Heights isn't exactly known for pizza.... that might be changing. Pizza Sam is the new boss when it comes to AMAZINGLY delicious pizza in Queens. I saw a review for this place on the One Bite app and Dave Portnoy gave it a lofty 8.4 so I had to try. Boy am I glad I did. I picked up two chicken parm slices, two regular slices and a soda and didn't even break $15! The crust was so perfectly crispy and the amounts of sauce and cheese were spot on - with little-to-no grease. The owner and staff could not be any friendlier. I can't wait to be back. I live in Forest Hills but will definitely be making trips back during my workday. Can't wait to bring home the remaining slices to let me family try. Horrible pizza. Had it delivered while visiting form Atlanta and called before to make sure it would be great and they guaranteed. So a number of things puts this place on my go to spot for a New York slice of pie! What I liked was as soon as you walk in Sam is behind that counter putting in work on those pizzas! Nothing like a local spot with the main man making your food. I had two slices because everything looked to good to pass up. One slice would definitely be enough -huge slices, so this pizza is rich with flavor tomato sauce had a rich consistency and the different mixture of cheeses with hearty meats made every bite amazing! The other slice I believe the grandma so rich with the ricotta and spinach and tomato sauce the dough was a nice thickness cooked perfectly. The Pizza is Awesome which I would give close to 5 stars. But the "NEW PEOPLE" They hired have no professional customer service. Extremely rude when trying to order over the phone. I'm a regular daily customer. Normally I would give my number and my address would automatically show in their system. But it seems like the New employee was in a extremely bad mood and started yelling at me from the top of his lungs for my address which I gave him twice. I grew up eating Sam's and have been going there for 30 + years now. You have no idea how it pains me to write & submit this review. Before I criticize let me say the pizza just cannot be beat. It is the best in town. I recommend it to the uninitiated as the best in town bar none. I still go back weekly for the Pizza or Sicilian Pies even though I have moved out of from Jackson Heights 20+ years ago. Always consistently excellent. I have been a loyal customer for a lifetime and remain so but with one reservation.... I have learned not to order entrees over the years because you just never know what you are going to get when you open the lid. Consistency used to be the hallmark of Sam's. You always knew what you were getting. Despite knowing this, I ordered a baked ziti with my pie last week and when I got home the unthinkable had happened. No sauce!!! Baked ziti with no sauce......... As unbelievable as it sounds I was not surprised but saddened nonetheless. I didn't even bother calling back to complain. What's the point? I knew this could happen so really I asked for it. That statement should tell you all you need to know when it comes to entrees. The pizza is pretty tasty, maybe the best in the area (Jackson heights/East Elmhurst). It's definitely better than any chain pizzeria. The crust is not doughy and the slices are thin. The sauce is good. A slice eaten right away at their pizzeria compared to their delivered whole pies (few blocks away) is where they lose a point. a random stop primarily for a bathroom use turned up being a wise decision... As soon as you enter, it gives a feeling of an old pizza parlor where the customer is appreciated. The guy behind the counter was extremely friendly and the service was quick. Unlike most pizza places where a variety of pizza slices await, this place differed because most of their varieties and toppings were on a sicilian slice. Top notch Grandma's Pie. I got the spinach/ricotta version and added pepperoni/sausage. Best pizza I've had so far in NY. Crispy edges with soft chewy center, my favorite combination. It's not overly thick and held up the toppings pretty good. Sauce, cheese, toppings, all high quality. I think the Grandma pizza only delivers as a large, so share or be ready to eat pizza for days. If I could give 0 stars I would. I don't know what happened to this place!! I was a regular but moved out of the area a year and a half ago. Six months ago I stopped by for a couple of regular slices and the quality had significantly decreased. It was not NY quality pizza and certainly not what I've known Sam's to be. I was disappointed but decided to give it another chance. I've been back 3 times since, hoping for some of that old Sam's magic, but it's just been awful. Bland crust, sauce that tastes like it's from a jar, and just overall not fresh tasting. I've also noticed an undeniable change in the upkeep of the restaurant.
