Half pepperoni and cheese pizza
Teana H.

This was our first time eating at Pizza Olympia and we've found a new family favorite. The seafood fettuccine was delicious and the clams were hearty. The pizza, as my son put it, was the best he's had since we moved here.

Lovely food lovely family, been coming here for years and can never get enough. Service is like being treated like family and it's just so peaceful. Truly a wonderful gem of anchorage alaska.

Moussaka with garlic bread!
Vic E.

I came here for my lunch break the other day since it has been two years from my last visit and was craving some Greek food. Pizza Olympia is a longtime Spenard institution that is located between Northern Lights and Benson across from the former REI location and next door to the Buckaroo Club. When I arrived, I was warmly greeted by one of the owners who quickly seated me at a booth. After going through the menu for a couple of minutes, I decided to settle on the Moussaka (fried eggplant, potatoes, seasoned ground beef, zucchini topped with Besamel sauce and plenty of melted cheese). This has been a customer favorite for many years and I still remember the family owners advertising this dish from their old commercials back in the 1980's. I was given a basket of complimentary garlic bread to munch on while waiting. The wait was a little longer than I would have liked especially with the limited time I had on my break. My order arrived about 20 minutes before my lunch break was scheduled to end. I made the best out of the situation and tried to finish it as best I could. The Moussaka was delicious with plenty of melted cheese and ground beef to complement the eggplant and the zucchini blended with the Besamel sauce. What happened next was the reason I decided to go with four stars for this updated review, the owner noticed how long I was waiting and she surprised me with a free loaf of seasoned Greek bread. She explained her husband made these loaves every year during the holidays. This was such a nice gesture on her part and one that would ensure me to come back here for a dinner with family and friends in the near future. This kind of warmth and sincerity from the owners is why Pizza Olympia has been going strong for such a long time as many businesses have come and gone through the years in the surrounding area.

I love love love this restaurant and the people who own it!…read more I remember when they started Meraki in Eagle River (which quickly became my family's daily destination) then the pandemic hit. Man I was so sad when they had to close their doors. After they had to shut their doors they pivoted and did door dash. Then they were sharing a restaurant with wing n things on boniface (which was weird and I'm sure it sucked to do it with those crazy ppl lol) But now they have a reopened their own restaurant on the south side! (Which sucks because its soooo far from me) But to watch this family, get back up, again, and again. All due to their integrity and commitment to make quality Greek food here in Alaska! Amazing place, and the Phoenix is best choice for your logo!

I would give this place more than five stars if possible!…read more I'm an absolute fiend for middle eastern and Mediterranean food. I grew up on gyros and when I travel, I often gravitate toward that style of cuisine. So when I say this is THE BEST chicken souvlaki I've ever had, I don't say it lightly. The chicken is extraordinarily tender and so well seasoned. The tzatziki is delicious. The sumac onion and lemon wedge are just the cherry on top. My personal preference would've been for a salad instead of fries for the platter ($26), but I also didn't ask for it, so that's on me. Dad had the spicy pork yerro ($19), and said it was "awesome." A combination of flavors you don't get often, and tasty to boot. We polished off the meal with the largest piece of baklava I've ever seen ($15). It sits in an orange blossom honey and is just as tasty as it looks. Dessert is definitely on the pricy side - we could've gotten outta there pretty reasonably without it. I'll be back to try more of the menu. Their dips look incredible and the halloumi yerro is on my must-have list. Service was decent but depended on the dining room and takeout situation since there's only one server. I loved the response I got when I called about their hours earlier. (The menu photos show a 7:30pm close while Yelp indicates 9:30.) The answer? 9-10 "depending on the meats." Hope these guys stick around because the food is incredible. Highly recommend!

The family that owns and operates this gem is Greek and they are not only amazing cooks, but they care about their community!! I have been there eating several times this winter and obviously homeless people would come to the door and be given water, hot soup, half a sandwich, etc. that just made me love this place more. Now to the food. First of all I had the meatball sub which was not only delicious but super filling. The meat was very well seasoned, and the fresh basil just made the marinara pop even more, add the freshly shaved Parmesan cheese and you've got something special. The homemade bread puts this thing into overdrive! Crispy on the outside, light, delicate but not falling apart and heavy enough to hold together all that deliciousness without being filling like you just ate a large pizza. Now to the ridiculous tomato basil soup. I love the clam chowder but the tomato basil is my favorite. Savory, full of flavor, smooth, creamy and not greasy. This in my opinion is the perfect pairing to the meatball sub. You're welcome! The customer service here is amazing too just like the owners and the food. You will always be greeted by a smiling face, and treated like family. You will not regret stopping here. I've eaten the Meatball sub, The Philly, the lasagna and The Gyro ( lamb and chicken) all have been 10 out of 10. The ambiance is like a neighborhood dinner with a small dining room. You will love it!

I ordered the BLT and had the chicken lemon soup The soup was very lemony and salty but I ate the whole bowl it was pretty good. The BLT had too much lettuce on it and a couple pieces of bacon but it was your standard white bread-mayo- bacon-lettuce-tomato. Prices not bad when the sandwiches come with soup or salad. Nice quaint family run local restaurant. I would try the Alfredo next time assuming they make the sauce in house?

I was looking for healthier options for lunch while doing my best to keep my New Year's resolution…read morealthough this may not last long when the pizza or Mexican food cravings kick in. Organic Oasis is located on Spenard Rd. and W. 26th Ave. in a strip mall next to Video Game Depot. The interior dining room is open and spaciously laid out. A stage is set up in one corner of the dining area for live music or open mic nights and is one of several places hosting Spenard Jazz Fest this year. Shelves decorated with antiques for sale as well as artwork and crafts from local artists adorn the entire wall next to the stage. The employees were busy but friendly and greeted me when I walked in. I had just finished a workout earlier before arriving and decided to try one of their Power Smoothies on a whim. I chose the Sea Foam Smoothie with the Moon Mix (green papaya powder, flax seed, chicory, pectin, rice bran, calcium, magnesium, calcium, and L. acidophilus with 72 ionic trace minerals extracted from sea water....sounds very healthy to me!) that promotes cleansing, clarity and weight loss as the health benefits. Not knowing what to expect from such an eclectic list of ingredients, the smoothie itself was delicious and refreshing after the first sip. It certainly lives up to its name as the Sea Foam by its appearance (I think kale was one of the ingredients I missed due to the color). I had the Peanut Butter Conspiracy in a previous visit (peanut butter, banana, apple juice, and spirulina) which was also very good. I can't help but think that the owners are vinyl collectors of classic rock. On a side note, Peanut Butter Conspiracy was the name of a psychedelic pop rock band from the late 60's. Smoothies aside, the food here is also worth trying out. Some of the dishes I had on previous visits include the Lamb Burger (Australian lamb, red onion, lettuce, tomato, feta, Swiss cheese and tomatoes), the Chopped Chicken Salad (tomato, bell peppers, cucumbers, red onions, and sunflower seeds), the Roasted Brussels Sprouts with chipotle sauce, and the Bacon Beef Bleu Burger (organic grass fed beef, avocado, bleu cheese, lettuce, red onions, tomato, mayo, and uncured turkey bacon). They offer delivery through DoorDash and a website to order online for pick-up. This is a good option for healthy meals but we'll see if I can actually stick to my New Year's resolution.

Menu changes have been for the worse. Today when we arrived we waited for 10 minutes before I had to walk up to the front and ask for menus. The menus were very dirty and we felt gross even touching them. Then we waited another 10 minutes for the server. I don't blame the server for being understaffed, but at least some communication that we were not totally forgotten would have been helpful. The soup tasted good, but it was cold, which was disappointing. I got the Thai bowl, and it was mostly all cabbage and carrots with a few random mint leafs. It used to have an assortment of veggies and tempeh that was delicious. Now it only has a small serving of undercooked tofu and very little dressing or quinoa even. My favorite used to be the vegan high protein bowl and the Hungarian mushroom soup. Both have changed so much and are not good anymore. The soup is runny and oily now instead of creamy. The VHP is missing all of the ingredients that made it amazing in the first place and now is more like a basic salad. I am very disappointed as this used to be my favorite place to eat in Anchorage. I just want it to go back to how it used to be.
