A simple acknowledgment and professional response would have gone a long way. I am not asking for a refund, nor am I looking for anything from you. To Whom It May Concern,…read more Shakey's Pizza promises three things: fun, family, and pizza. Unfortunately, during my visit today, your restaurant failed to deliver on all three. I arrived at approximately 4:30 PM. By around 5:00 PM, I had placed our order and sat down with my family. At approximately 5:30 PM, I realized I may not have ordered enough food, so I placed a second order, which was completed around 5:45 PM. To my surprise, the second order arrived at our table before the first order ever did. Naturally, this raised concern, so I asked an employee about the status of our original order. In any hospitality environment, I would expect a simple response: "Let me look into that for you." Instead, I was told that the ticket number I had did not correspond to any order. It ultimately took both the store manager and assistant manager approximately 30 minutes to determine what had happened. By that point, I simply requested a refund for the original order because it was far too late to continue waiting. Even the refund process took additional time. As a hospitality specialist and someone with extensive experience in the industry, I found the situation extremely disappointing. My greatest concern is not simply that an order was lost--mistakes happen. The real issue was how management handled the mistake once it was brought to their attention. The only person who demonstrated the level of customer service I would expect from Shakey's was the gentleman who originally took my order. Unfortunately, the response from management reflected a serious lack of urgency, ownership, communication, and basic hospitality. A customer should not have to continually monitor an order to make sure their family gets fed. When a guest has to spend their time tracking down an order, speaking with multiple managers, waiting for answers, and ultimately requesting a refund, you have taken away from the very things Shakey's claims to provide: fun and family time. And when the pizza itself never arrives, all three parts of that promise have failed. This was not simply an issue with a missing pizza. In my view, it was a management and customer-service failure. I strongly encourage Shakey's corporate leadership to review the management and service practices at this location and determine what corrective action and additional training are necessary. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this establishment to others.
