If you find yourself in Queens you owe it to yourself to get a pie at Pizza Garden. I am not going to compare this to gourmet pizza. This is your classic Queens working man's pizza. But what a great pie. And made the same way for decades. This place has been around forever and there is a reason. It's a nice thin crust with not too much cheese and a tangy sauce. Undoubtedly my favorite pizza place in queens. When I lived in California this was the pizza I missed and craved the most. When I call for pick up I literally have to eat a piping hot slice in the car because I just can't wait - it's that good!! My favorite is the classic cheese pie because it's just so cheesy and the sauce is so good but I also love the buffalo chicken pie and chicken parm pie. I have lived in Morris Park, the Bronx for my entire life. We have some pretty elite pizza in that area. When I took a job managing a city council campaign in Queens last summer, pizza garden was the spot of choice to feed hungry campaigners. I also grew pretty fond of the place. The pizza is very decent. Not the greatest I ever had, but up there. Very solid. My favorite item was the chicken roll. I like how the sauce comes on the side. Again, very solid, no frills eats. My favorite thing about Pizza Garden is their set up. It has an late 70's/ 80's vibe going on -- which i really appreciate. The place is also family owned and operated, and are nice and friendly, but not in the "I'm fake and I'm bullshitting you" kind of way -- sincere. I've been coming here for years and have yet to be disappointed with a single one of my orders. Their pizza is solid; good quality, great taste, and consistent with what they dish out every time. Pizza Garden has a kickas cheese and sauce combination! Their crust may or may not be crunchy. I guess it depends on how busy they are when you order. But their pizza beats all other pizzas that I have had in Queens. The sausage and meatball toppings are not overly salty compared to other places. Their prices are a bit on the expensive side if you compare it to chain stores like Dominoes or Pizza Hut, but you are paying extra for quality food here. This place is a few blocks away from my grandparents' house and where my mom grew up. I've been coming here every summer since I can remember. Every time we visit NY we always make sure to make a trip to Pizza Garden. The pizza is really good, I always get cheese. I can't really comment about anything else. My whole family loves it and they've been coming here for decades. I haven't experienced any bad customer service, luckily, but I haven't been back east in about a year and a half so things may have changed. One complaint is that the parking sucks, but I find that driving/parking anywhere in NY is a hassle. read more

Pizza Garden is an established Flushing Pizzaria. I've been going there since the mid1960's as it was the best place for pizza. Happily, I can report that it still is! The pizza made here is sold so quickly, it's guaranteed fresh. The staff take pizza seriously as it's the same family running it since it opened in 1960. They have great special of 2 slices and a bottle of Coke for just under 6 bucks Tuesday's they have a pasta special. It's as good as the pizza! The special is limited to spaghetti and ziti, but you'll be happy-not to mention quite full-after you've tried it. Came here early evening to give this restaurant a try, walked in and literally waited for 10-15 minutes without anyone saying anything. Really? Not even a look of acknowledgment. Pizza here is sadly pathetic. The sauce is basically ketchup devoid of flavor, the crust is crispy, but oddly in the same way a cheese cracker is, and that is because the pizza is usually stale. And I never thought I would come across a garlic knot I did not like, but the ones here are chewy, excessively greasy and completely bland. I found this place last night by accident and what a great find. Came with my dad and have to say I LOVED THIS PLACE. From the minute we sat down, the owner lowered the volume on the TV hanging above us without us even having to ask. Natasha our server was fantastic. Polite, efficient and been working there for almost 30 years. Real family atmosphere. The eggplant parmesan was served with a wonderful, crisp fresh cold lettuce and tomato and onions, fresh hot bread with ice cold butter patties and was delicious. My chicken parmesan smothered in lots of wonderful cheese was made with thinly pounded chicken breasts, not reconstituted chicken pieces and was delicious, and was served with a side of ziti. She asked if I wanted a can or fountain soda and I love cans, brought lemon wedges on the side and a nice full cup of ice, just the way I love my soda. I came back to edit this review. I previously mentioned that I wanted to give this place a higher rating, but didn't because every time I went in person to buy some pizza I would get lewd comments from one of their younger male workers (I am a woman) and I saw that another female yelper had made the same complaint. The employee's behavior was highly confusing to me because I generally look like a slob in every day life when I go out to grab some pizza and in no way look like a runway model. Shortly after I had made the review I noticed that the owner had sent me a message and told me the issue had been dealt with. Because the owner cares (and I miss their pizza) I am giving this place the rating it deserves. Anyway on to their pizza. The pizza is good, I am not picky and I am easy to please. The pizza is a little thinner compared to some other places I have been to around Queens, but I still think it is worth the visit. They have a lot of regulars and the place has been around for years so that says something. A really good local spot and they have a lot of seating inside (chairs and booths) which is good for families and groups of people. I came here frequently for years and it was my main go-to spot for pizza. I have found most of their staff to be friendly. I have seen some comments about the unfriendliness of staff. People who are not a familiar face may not receive the same amount of warmth since this is a local spot and it's New York City and that's just the way things are here. I ordered for the Superbowl thru the Slice app and figured I'd order early because it would be busy around game time, so I ordered around 1:30 pm and set the delivery time at 5:45. 1, the food was made immediately and delivered at 2:45. 2, I paid for pepperoni on my specialty pizza and they forgot the pepperoni. 3, I also paid for blue cheese and ranch, and they only included blue cheese. I called to clear up, and the guy that answered was very apologetic, admitted he didn't read the ticket fully and offered to send me a $2 credit for what wasn't included - which leads me to 4 - he never texted me the credit. I order from pizza garden EVERY Friday and spend a lot of money on take out. Usually I am so happy with their food but for the last 3 weeks it has been bad. Today it was horrible. All 3 gravy fries were so dry. It's like they made a few containers of fries and poured a little bit of gravy on them earlier in the day and then reheated them as you ordered them. The gravy was so dried up on the fries there's no way they were made fresh. They were so dried out. The chicken tender basket and the chicken nuggets basket were very dried out and bad. The fries were old. The nuggets and tenders were so over cooked and dried out. The 3 cheesesteak subs were over salted. The onion rings were over cooked. There was nothing good about this order. Being born and living in Queens my whole life I am a bit of a pizza snob. This place has been around since 1960 and it is in my top 2 pizza places to get pizza and food. Their cheese pie is to die for and I absolutely love their shrimp parm (hero and entree). I moved just out of their delivery zone so now I call in an order on my way home from work and go out of my way a bit to pick it up. It is that good. My kids love it as well and we will eat there from time to time as well, they have a nice comfortable seating area. To me, there are many pizza places that are either horrible or mediocre at best in the neighborhood but everyone's tastes are different.
