This was a wonderful stop, considering it was the first time I've ever tried it. Me and my friend came here for a late lunch, which wasn't too busy at all. Coming in, nobody was to be found, and after waiting for about a minute, the hostess, who in fact was our waitress spotted us, and said we could sit anywhere. The menu has a lot to offer, with pizza being the main offering, not to be surprising, hence in the business name. I was very impressed to see the variety. Most of the items that stick out are burgers (which taste very good), pasta, sandwiches, soup, chicken, you name it. Some of the prices I found seemed to be a bit pricey, considering it's not quite a fancy restaurant. I sure can't wait to make many visits to try each and every one of their items. Our waitress, Casey (who never introduced her name, but found it on the receipt), was okay for the most part, very friendly, but didn't check in with us at all. With the garage doors open, there were a couple of bees flying around, and ended up switching tables, Casey apologized for that. Having peanut allergies, I asked her if the french fries were dipped in peanut oil, checked, and came back and told me they weren't sure, coming to my surprise. I subbed salad instead for my safety. In the evening, I called this location and asked a gentleman about peanut oil, the same answer as before. Afterward, I called the other location in Middletown, and sure enough, they said they DON'T use peanut oil. Talk about craziness, I have mixed feelings about this location, them not knowing one piece of information when it comes to food allergies. Perhaps if I had ordered pizza, I might have had a good experience. The place was clean and the service was good. My partner had a hamburger which was dry and seemed to have been mixed with something; more like a meatloaf. I had the eggplant parm which was very thin slices of eggplant as hard as cardboard and burnt around the edges. The plates were cold. We split ten teriyaki wings which were good, but we both agreed they were the smallest wings we ever had. And we've had many. And definitely on the pricey side for the size. The burgers, however, were excellent. Nice charbroiled taste, a substantial brioche bun. Comes w fried onions, lettuce, and tomato, or you can opt out of some / all of the toppings. Pleasantly surprised with this find! Pizza E Birra has a nice bar and indoor and outdoor seating. We dined early on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was pretty quiet. We started with the traditional calamari. Unlike most traditional orders, their calamari had some fried red and green peppers in the mix. The peppers had a nice kick, but not overly spicy for those that don't like the heat. We also enjoyed the sliders and chicken cutlet sandwich. Well... The "salad" was 75% noodles and heavily covered in dressing. Stick with the Italian food here, as the name suggests, and you will be happy! The place looks gorgeous on the outside. In the inside, the decor is nice and sophisticated. Deceivingly to the outside, it's got more of a dressed up bar vibe than I expected. How did we miss this little gem. Let's start by the amazing service by Keri. Knowledgeable, friendly and professional. The fried calamari were the best I have tasted in any Italian restaurant in the area. Three of us had the chicken cutlets, topped with procuitto ham and cheese in a delicious " lemony" sauce. Chicken was so tender, you could cut it with a fork. The other dishes also chicken cutlets with capers, artichoke , roasted peppers and cheese also delicious. I've been here 3 times, and every time has been exactly what you'd want: really good pizza, really good beer. Very reasonably priced, and the space is great too (especially on warm nights, when they have the garage doors wide open and the whole place is open air...especially awesome these days!!!) The pizza is almost on the level with Lolita's. One of my dining compatriots wasn't feeling pizza and ordered a burger, and proclaimed it to be "outstanding." I have no reason to doubt! And...I have a special affection for their zucchini strings appetizer, too. Really good. The coup de gras? Live music on Friday nights! But the waiter was terrible though, he started out good but he brought my food first however had the wrong French fries and said the other 2 would be right out after 10 minutes he brings out the other 2 meals and says oops that was not my food sorry was supposed to be for another table, and said sorry about the fries. After we just about finish eating he brings the appetizer we order and says sorry again. He then brings the bill and question the price of something because it's different on line and he grabs a menu and says "that's the price see" I said ok asked about my wrong fries he says you want me to get the right ones now? I've been wanting to try this place since it first opened. I should've come a long time ago! Went on a Friday night so wasn't sure how busy it would be. The space is nice. Plenty of tables. Wasn't a big crowd at all. Got seated right away by Rico who was fantastic. We shared a Caesar salad and the Pizza Al Prosciutto. It was one of the best wood fired pizzas we've had. First I liked the upscale decor and nice staff for a Sunday afternoon late lunch. I wanted something quick before having a late lunch but they don't sell Pizza by the Slice so I settled for Meatball Sliders and while I waited for a to go ordered I noticed they had local brewery beer on tap so I got a cucumber cream ale from Mill House Brewery. The sliders tasted decent the beer was good but am shocked at the prices. $11.50 for 3 sliders and $7 for a pint of beer. If were any other place then a shared mini mall I would have given them a higher rating. I called at 11am to have my lunch delivered at 12 for lunch. I get a half hour break. My food wasn't delivered until 12:31. Called multiple times and the girl didn't have the drivers number to get in touch to see where he was. She mentioned he had 2 deliveries. She called her boss and 4 calls later I was told the owner never told the driver what time it should be delivered. Prior to this, my family and I ordered food to the hospital. My brother received a pizza that wasn't even on the menu. They refused to refund and said we could come pick up the original order that they messed up. I've spent lots of money at this place but I am done supporting a business that doesn't care at all about customer service. My food was delivered cold. We ordered a Fresca to share and it was completely flavorless with zero seasoning in the sauce or ingredients. The server never even asked how it was but I think she was really a cashier from the adjoining wing place. I jumped up, grabbed salt and red pepper flakes to make it edible. We also had spinach artichoke dip plus a chocolate lava cake which were both just ok but Applebee's has a better version of that dip. Probably the best thing was the cucumber martini that I ordered. I Went for a bday party and the food and the two female bartenders were great and super friendly. I told coworkers about it since it's close to work. We decided to order and pick up. We CALLED instead of doing online. They tell us 20 mins. We arrived 30 mins later and the middle aged guy said "Sorry I don't have any orders here are you sure you ordered correct?" "Yes we spoke to someone ordered over the phone" (my coworker is pretty certain it was his voice ) He glanced over to the receipt machine and sees a receipt sitting there that he clearly had no idea was there, this is 30 mins after our order! He said "oh here it is, I can make it but it's going to take at least 10 mins" No "omg i am so sorry" nothing, seemed like a bother to him but we decided ok and went out to tell our friends waiting in the car. Came back in after 10 mins and he ignored us for a few mins. It was not busy only 2 men at the bar, no tables. So now it's closer to 15 mins and he says just a min packs up our food, gives us our receipt. No discount for THEIR error mins you. We promptly replace receipt w a debit card (we are in a rush, we only have 45 mins for lunch) he goes back to register finds a random credit card and decides right then would be a great time to try and figure out whose it is. Goes in the back to ask kitchen workers, stares at the card trying to figure it out . Asks the two men at the bar ... Seriously? We finally pay. He grumbles "thanks" Not even " thank you" and as we approach the door yells "sorry about your order". The food was good but coworkers and I decided never again. read more
