I had to actually spit it out, and I am not a pickey eater. As a UBC student in exam season all I wanted was a quick healthy delicious meal, now I had to reorder from a different restaurant. Your choice of dietary proteins based off your dietary lifestyle, unlimited veggies (raw or cooked to your liking without added fees), sauces, spreads and spices to help really fill you up so you don't miss the carbs. I'd highly recommend their legendary pitas over their salad bowls if you aren't keto because its just that much more convenient to carry (save plastic) and satisfying taking that first inital hefty biteful. Getting unlimited free hummus and avocado spread seems so value as is. Honestly speaking, I got a bean bowl (bean patty) which was devoid of animal protein and I was still hungry after, so feel free to add in more proteins since you're cutting on the carbs to fill up. The service here can be a bit spotty, but how can you blame them? It's pretty much staffed by a bunch of students that could care less about their p/t jobs and who are probably more concerned about the party they'll be going to later that night or studying or other student worries. However when they do get around to serving you and making that big fat juicy pita the way you like it, it's perfect. This location is nice since it has a nice outdoor park area just across the street. Service could be better, but the low cost big pitas makes for a filling meal. read more

The review is not for the food, because I actually never got to try it, but more for the horrible customer service here. Came in and waited for 15 minutes in line to place an order, but the staff was too busy taking a catering order from 1 customer. No "please wait" or "we will be right with you". This is a good alternative to Subway sandwiches. You get to pick your toppings. They have the typical lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, olives, and onions. You also have the choice of more unusual toppings such as pineapples, raw mushrooms, spinach and bean sprouts. They use fresh ingredients; their large size 9" pita is large enough to fill you up if you're hungry. They grill the meats such as chicken or beef. FYI: they grill precooked meats so I ended getting quite a bit of charred chicken. They could be more consistent with the sauces on the meats. My southwest chicken barely had any sauce, yet another customer ordered the same chicken was covered in southwest sauce. Their tzatziki sauce makes the pitas quite tasty. I did find it rather disappointing that they charge you extra for cheese toppings. I was never asked if I wanted white or whole wheat pitas. I was just given a whole wheat pita which was fine because I do like whole wheat more. Service was slow. They really need two staff members on duty in the counter area at all times. read more

I lived in Edmonton for 4 years, and lived above a Pita Pit for two of those. I will shamefully admit I bought a lot of meals here, mostly due to laziness. Every so often, I crave one of these fantastic pitas. I had one of these cravings on UBC one day, so I decided to venture into the village to get one. This pita pit location is set up the same as every other location, and is relatively clean. I ordered my pita and waited patiently in line. When I got there, the girl behind the counter was trying to multitask making 3 pita's at once, which slowed down everything. When it was finally my turn, she tried to give me a Petita (baby pita) instead of the regular size I paid for. I had to explain it to her 3 times that I didn't order the petita, I ordered the pita. Once she finally got that, I had to talk her through putting the pita together. It's almost as if she didn't understand me at all. I know I talk fast when I'm excited, but there's no way she didn't understand things like "lettuce" and "barbeque sauce". It was such a frustrating ordeal. I will admit my pita ended up being just as fresh and delicious as always. I'll probably go back at another time, but only because it was a good pita (hence the 3 stars). read more

Ah, the Pita Pit. Despite the unfortunate name (I mean really? Who wants to eat anywhere called the "Pit"? Unless you are a character from Beverly Hills 90210) this place is reliably good. It's like Subway, but with pitas. Thus, if your pita sucks, it was likely your fault (since you have to tell them what to put in it). My favourite is the chicken souvlaki. Keep in mind that this place, like most places offering cheap food on campus, gets insanely crowded and should be avoided at peak times like noon if you are in a rush or about to pass out from hunger. read more

Pita Pit is a small and decent pita place. There are quite a selection in this place, and they are pretty healthy! Well, compared to most of UBC Village food, that is. Anyway I ordered the southwestern steak, and stuffed the pita with every veggies there are! I used the dijon mustard and parmesan, and it was delicious! Service was pretty quick but the staff there were just okay, nothing special. One thing I don't like is the only put the sauce and meat all on one side, leaving the other side just full of veggies. I would've liked it better if they distribute the toppings equally. Price is decent, around $7-8 for a huge pita. It was fulfilling. read more

At 8:30pm I made a simple order of a Philly cheesesteak. They took my payment and cancelled my order without notifying me then told me they couldn't honour the request even though they close at 11pm on the day I ordered. They give you 5 options for sauces and I asked for only TWO of them to put on the side. If they do not want people to select more than one they shouldn't have it as an option. They will still take your money on top of not telling you that your order was cancelled or why. FRAUDS. I waited an hour to call and find out if my order was finished, giving them the courtesy that there may have been a slim chance that it could have been busy on a Sunday evening. Absolute trash. If you don't like taking food orders then maybe don't work at fast food joint? Just a suggestion. read more

As a vegan university student, it can sometimes be difficult to find options as far as food goes. Pita Pit has been able to satisfy some late-night hunger and just general cravings for me in the past. I usually get the hummus pita with a bunch of different toppings, all of which taste delicious and fresh. However--and this is the reason I'm giving them 1 star--they really need to be more careful about cross-contamination. One time I decided to order the falafel pita. despite the fact that they cook the falafel pieces and meat fillings on the same grill and use the same cooking instruments without cleaning them in between usage. Then, as I'm halfway through eating, I notice a small piece of grilled meat from the previous order that got into mine. I know this may not sound serious because it doesn't involve an allergy, but any vegetarian/vegan would find it so. I don't expect Pita Pit to take extreme measures to avoid cross-contamination like switching gloves and stuff like that, but carelessly serving meat to someone who doesn't eat meat, even if accidentally, is not acceptable. read more

Pita Pit is delicous no matter how you slice it (but I don't recommend slicing your pita). Its like a sub shop, except instead of a sandwich you end up with a pita containing your choice of meats, vegetables, and sauces. It's cheap, filling, and tastes pretty good and there isn't much more to it than that. I'm kind of surprised I don't eat here more often. read more

Always looking for a healthy lunch option. Other similar places have been OK, but this place seriously impressed me. Seen a few PitaPits around but was never tempted, they looked too cheap. The store at UBC though looked cleaner, and popular, so took a risk. Friendly staff, fast, and some free pita+dips to try while I waited. Ordered a chicken breast pita. Getting to chose you own filling, avoiding all those processed, calorie busting dressings is a huge plus for sandwich shops like this. Whole wheat pita also a big bonus. Great sandwich. PitaPit will now be my regular stop for lunch on my training bike rides around UBB. read more

I feel a bit weird reviewing a fast food chain, it's like reviewing your McNugget Happy Meal at McDonalds... Nonetheless, because of the scarce food options on the UBC campus, I had to say that this place is the place that disappoints me the least. Most places on campus seem to have inflated prices because they're on a university campus where students have to eat and can't travel far (and are apparently made of money). Their fillings are fresh--much fresher than Mr. Sub--and their pitas are much tastier than the Greek place down in the SUB, which is utterly disgusting. I get the southwest/chipotle chicken with tzatziki and lots of veggies. It's yummy. I went to Rasoee, the rip off Indian place around the corner, and wished that I had gone to Pita Pit. read more

I got 6" philly steak from this place. The amount of meat they put in the sandwiches is ridicules. I think my sandwich had something around 10 grams of meat in it ! Other than that, I think this place is fine if you want to eat a veggie sandwich since you can put lots of veggies of your choice. read more

This is one of the best places to get a truly healthy lunch -- a whole wheat pita filled with lots of vegetables & chicken breast, custom made. You can get the vegetables and the whole pita grilled and heated up like a panini. The staff is also very friendly and hard-working. A while ago there was a guy working there who had a bead of sweat on the tip of his nose, precariously poised to drip onto my food as he was making my pita -- this grossed me out, and I couldn't go back there for a while -- but generally speaking you can be assured of a good, wholesome lunch with friendly service. read more

The coupon said valid until Nov 1, 2009, so the girl at the counter said that this means it is expired and was not valid on Nov 1, 2009. I think she was wrong and I walked out.
