This place has everything! There's a build-your-own sandwich counter, paninis and wraps, curries, baked goods (muffins and croissants suitable for breakfast as well as desserts), tea/coffee, and a grab-and-go cooler. The curries aren't what you'd get at a proper Indian or Thai restaurant but they're still very tasty. My favourite is the Shahi Paneer - love the heaping of thick, rich sauce - but all that I've tried are good. They have a regular and large size available, but the regular is plenty, especially if you add naan. You can get 2 curries in one bowl for no extra charge. The grilled veggie panini is also great, with fresh ingredients. Haven't tried the fresh sandwich bar yet because I love the curry/panini so much and always want to go back for more. The desserts are also really good. Some of the stuff seems to sometimes be available at some UBC food service locations so I guess it's not all made by them, but they have a few things I haven't seen elsewhere. There are a few things that are more snack-size, but most of the cookies/bars are huge. I have not tried their coffee but the tea they use is good quality. Gets super busy at lunch hour and it can be a little confusing to know where the line is because they have so many counters and it's crowded, but the staff is super helpful if you don't know where to go. Staff is friendly and usually pretty efficient. They've also been chill the few times that I've stopped in minutes before closing which has been much appreciated. read more

Probably my favourite food place in the UBC Nest. Its like a better version of Subway. Lots of options to build your own sandwiches and they are so GOOD. They don't skimp on the avo either (bless). They also have pre-made food options such as wraps, sandwiches, samosas, curry, and various baked goods. This place is a good one-stop-shop for all of your lunch needs and is conveniently located in the basement of the Nest. I would recommend not going during peak hours as apparently word has gotten out about this place and it gets very busy. However, lines are not too long before or after 12-2. 4 stars instead of 5 because it is a little bit more expensive here, a samosa is $4 and a vegetarian sandwich is $8 for reference, but I still think it is reasonable priced. Great place for people on UBC campus to get quick food for decent prices. I love getting their butter chicken, it's a big potion with your choice of white or brown basmati rice and a whopping scoop of sauce. The chicken itself is very tender and well flavoured. Other favourites include their sandwiches, one of which is their chicken pesto which is cheesy and yummy. They also make desserts, grab and go sandwiches, custom sandwiches, salads, drinks, snacks and more. Prices are pretty good too as everything is $10 and under essentially! Such a great lunch options for those in the AMS nest to grab a quick bite :) read more

If you're ever on campus and you're looking for a place to get a tasty and satisfying meal, this would be one of the few places I'd recommend in the area. The Delly offers both sandwiches and hot meals. Of the options that they do offer, I'm a really big fan of their Delly Chicken, when it comes to sandwiches. I know I probably should cut down on the fried stuff, but the panko breaded chicken slices that they put in the Delly Chicken sandwiches are just so great! They're crunchy, flavourful and go really well with whatever toppings and condiments you add later on as you customize your sandwich. I usually have the Delly Chicken with sourdough bread (it's okay to choose a different bread if that's not your thing), and I put just about everything in it. If you're a fan of avocado, you can also pay extra to add some to the sandwich- I'd recommend it, but the sandwich is still good if you forego this option. As for curries, I've only had the butter chicken, and it's never let me down. Especially on a cold rainy day, the richness of their butter chicken just warms you right up. If your server is nice, they may ask if you'd like to have extra sauce... if not, they'll be more than happy to oblige if you ask for it. While there are a few other places that specialize in sandwiches or curry, I'd still recommend this place for both options over the other stores in the area. read more

A UBC staple! This is my fave place on campus to get a freshly made sandwich. I usually get the veggie & cheese which is brimming with fresh veggies and comes in your choice of bread. Reasonably priced deli with a South Asia twist. The Delly offers a wide variety of sandwiches (pre-made or made to order), samosas, soups, wraps, and sweets. They also have various curries served on rice. Portions sizes are typically large and prices reasonable. The quality isn't anything to rave about, but everything is made is house and certainly much better than equivalent options from the chains on campus (i.e. Tim Horton's and Subway). You can easily get a sizeable lunch for under $10. The new location in the nest is much more swanky than the one in the old SUB. Unfortunately, with this swankiness, I was disappointed to hear they've dropped their famed 50% off everything after 3pm on Friday deal. This loses them a star, but The Delly is still a good option for an inexpensive, healthy(ish), and filling meal on campus. read more

This place gets a 3 as it's one of the better places on campus The butter chicken on rice ($8.75+tax) is a 4/5 in terms of taste, but having a nice meal packed into a take out box kind of ruins the food. Plus it's expensive, so round down to 3/5. The samosas are meh, the Jamaican patty was quite disappointing. Have yet to try their sandwiches. read more

When I was in the area it was one of the places that I could eat since it was compatible with my diet. It wasn't the best place for Indian, however, it wasn't the worst either but it worked for what it was, especially considering that I left my lunch at home. The problem for me was that the curry was a little too watery. It was $$ and good as something to keep you reasonably full but I do remember being hungry and having to get a protein bar at the campus store as I was filled on so few carbs that only last so many hours. read more

The reason for the rating is as follows... I used to (and to some degree, still am) a fan of this place. For relatively healthy, vegan food on campus at UBC, it is not bad. Normally, I would be paying $7.50 for a medium sized portion of rice and vegetables with curry, or chana masala, etc. Now, it's $9. To add to that, I would have to eat two of these to even be full. An $18 meal? No thanks. I admit that if I run out of food while on campus studying, it will likely still be my go to place (unless of course the Hilel house or Sprouts is having a lunch), but I am going to start avoiding this place just because of how much I feel you get for the $. Also I should add that I don't eat anywhere else at UBC, so maybe this is a relatively cheap place? Personally, these dinky bowls of rice and handful of chickpeas and spices on top shouldn't cost more than $5 MAX. The Delly Chicken sandwich is my fave!!! So yummy and I crave it so often. The ladies at the sandwich bar are also really sweet.

I have studied and worked on campus for 12 years and probably frequent the Delly more than any other food establishment. Their sandwiches are the best deal - lots of fresh veggies, tasty bread, packed very full. I'm also a big fan of the triple chocolate brownie. But the reason I keep coming back is the people who work there: the sandwich ladies, the cashiers and others are always so friendly and kind. They all have taken the time to get to know me and can make my order without even asking me for it. read more

The curries are quite good, I'm partial to the shahi paneer ($9.75). It's mild in terms of spice level (Maurya in the village is the place to go for a spicy shahi paneer), but it has a great deal of depth and flavor that you'd miss out on if it were spicier. The rice is nice and fluffy, and the portion sizes are optimal for a big meal that will keep you full all day. The banana bread ($4) is also alright, second on campus in my experience to the banana bread at The Beanery. It could be softer, but it has a gorgeous minty note that adds a lot of dimension. My one complaint is about the prices. They just keep going up, and they're definitely verging on mid-range now, which isn't great for students. A curry on rice, of similar quality, at Maurya, is half the price. Ponderosa cakes are $2.65, the exceptional banana bread at The Beanery is also about that price. Lower the prices? Perfection. Until then, it's good, the service is excellent, the quality is great, but this is not appropriate pricing for a student audience. read more

My favourite place for sandwiches when I was a student! The spicy fried chicken sandwich with spicy mayo is delicious. They make it right in front of you with your choice of bread and as many fresh veggies as you like. Just like something mom would make!
