On my way out of town, I stopped by to grab a snack for the road. I ordered on the app ahead of time, and since it was my first order I got $3.00 off my order, woohoo! I opted for the Thai Chili Chicken Pita, size small, and just *Thai* and stop yourself from devouring it!! There are traditional flavors and offerings, but I was feeling sweet and spicy so I wanted to give this one a *Thai* This one was the perfect medley of chicken, sauce and veggies snug as a bug in a pita! I thought I was practicing restraint by ordering a small, but the pita was so good, and I was so hungry, and having a sizable drive ahead of me, I hopped back on the app and ordered two more (!!): one for the road, and one for lunch the next day! Upon recognizing me when I stopped back in to pick up my second order within 30 minutes, the human pita making machine behind the counter commented that she thought the name/order looked familiar... All I can say is there's no shame in my Pita Pit game!! I got the Dagwood club and chicken souvlaki pita (chicken cooked with Mediterranean spices). There are tons of topping options that include various vegetables, sauces and cheeses. I ordered on GrubHub and got an ETA of 9:35-9:45 but my order didn't come in this window. It came at 10:01. In their defense, the shop's 25 minutes away from me. I called to check on it and the phone call ended on its own before I was connected to anyone. I called a second time and for a girl who said "all orders were sent out" without specifically checking on my order or asking who I was to confirm. I like that this place opens super late. The closing time here on Yelp is incorrect. I've tried this chain pita shop in other cities before and have really enjoyed it. It's like the Subway of pitas. My order said "include utensils/napkins-yes" but I didn't get either. Overall, I liked that you get options on pita size, I loved all the topping choices, I liked that the pita wasn't super thick (thinner than a tortilla), and i loved the horseradish dijon sauce in my pita. I thought the chicken souvlaki pita tasted better than the Dagwood one because of the flavors I chose for it and its size. Having a larger size meant having more filling and less wrap. Each bite was uneven because the meat was on the left and the vegetables were on the right (because it was so large). The food was great. If looking for an alternative sandwich, away from Quiznos and Subway the Pita Pit is one of the best options. Their menu is the same as what you can find at a sandwich shop, but they have a couple of Mediterranean sauces and items and instead of bread the items are stuffed into a pita. I don't know if it's just the 3 people that happened to be working that day but: 1. the cashier charged me $1 more for my order than she should have (probably confusing my order with the Chicken Crave since that's a dollar more) 2. I ordered two Chicken Souvlaki Pitas and one of them hardly had any chicken. There was probably more lettuce in one pita than there was chicken in both pitas combined. Barely made 3.0 Stars in my book. Located on Marshall St, next to Jimmy Johns and a now closed Crepe boulevard, it has remained a constant staple for the many students from SU and Upstate. It offers the choice between white or wheat pita with your choice of meat and toppings; leading to a fairly large meal. The price is decently cheap ($7.5-8.5/pita) but it is nothing amazing; only relatively fast. I'm not sure about the experiences of others; but I felt my experience with this restaurant was subpar compared to the other options available in Syracuse and off Marshall St. Recommendations: Go to King David's close by if you want Mediterranean food and have time. read more

I absolutely love the Pita Pit. In all seriousness, some of the best food you can get on Marshall Street. I always order online with GrubHub (previously CampusFood), and you can choose all of your own ingredients. The ingredients are always fresh, and they don't skimp either -- I've never received a pita that was NOT the size of my face. Besides the bomb food, my only complaint is that delivery is not always as fast as I would hope (typically an hour), but I'm pretty sure that I'm just always hungry and picky. Hands down, my favorite place to order food from. For the quantity, quality, and filling-up-my-belly factor, it's also the least expensive. Boom. read more

The larger size pita was so filling that I was able to save some of it for later in the day. The staff was also extremely friendly. Being a NY'er for the past 35 years, a lamb falafel is a favorite thing to have on Saturday afternoon. So I "Yelped" and found Pita Pit. Nobody in line but the gentleman behind the counter fiddled with the Wi-Fi music endlessly until I asked if I could order. Eventually My order was taken. Got my food and was surprised how flavorless it was. Lamb was dry processed slices reheated on a grill. The falafel was straight out a retail bag.... and cold. The yogurt sauce was deluged with Feta cheese. I like Tizatziki yogurt sauce and Feta, but not mixed as a topping and in the middle of the item. (It all goes on top). It should be a bit runny instead of like mortar. It just sits there like a huge volume of very bland lumpy white stuff. The greens were fresh and delicious, but there was no marrying of all the ingredients. No seasonings are used. Disappointed with what was recd for almost $10.00. The young woman working the grill and doing all the food prep was a pro. Very pleasant and gave the shop an identity. Not planning a revisit. read more

So after many festive nights in college that culminated in early morning meals along Marshall St, I have to give Pita Pit its due. The flavor is pretty darn amazing, the texture and consistency of the ingredients contrast well and are always fresh. Whether you go for falafel, gyros, or the traditional pita, you always get to choose your favorite combination of vegetables, cheese, and sauces/condiments. Oh yeah, and their cookies are pretty good, too. My only complaint has been that there is no seating in the joint, a problem which is currently being remedied by renovation.
