We love Pita Pit when we're out and about and want fast but really exceptionally good! It's like build your own and stuff it with lots of goodies. A lot of choices and I'm a Double Meat guy and Add Bacon sometimes. I gravitate to the Buffalo Chicken which I get double meat w/added bacon and Dagwood which ends up enormous when you do double meat. They steam the Pita's which are white or wheat, your choice, and put your meat on the griddle with the mushrooms, onions and cheese of your choice. Fresh guacamole and humus smeared inside your pita before it's stuffed adds a lot of flavor. Judy likes the salads sometimes with a lot of the fresh veggies awesome if you're trying to go carb free. I'm a big fan of Pita Pit and prefer them over other fast food sandwich shops. I love that you can get some of your veggies sautéed on the grill with your meats... I'm looking at you peppers, onions and mushrooms! There are so many options for the type of pita or salad you'd like and they have a fabulous selection of toppings and sauces to boot. They don't skimp on them either; I find that they often ask me 'if that's enough' or 'would you like more?' Tzatziki, hummus or avocado... and NO, it's NOT extra! Ha! Easy to get it to enjoy there or get it to go. When you eat in, they wrap and tear the paper down to hold it without a mess and to-go is partially wrapped and then wrapped fully to enjoy it with ease. The stores have always been clean, tables wiped and service is generally pretty good, although somewhat quiet as well. Things are definitely changing in the service industry as over the last few years. They've offered us a veteran discount as well, which is always appreciated! read more

Came here around 3pm, so it's a late lunch/early dinner. Obviously, very empty at the time, but this is also a fast food establishment. We did end up eating there and the dining tables were well-loved. Lots of pictures from the high school that they support. There's a bulletin board with little notes. You can tell they like being close to the community. Food-wise, I had the regular Gyro Pita, as recommended (meaning, the way it comes as). Tasted pretty good. The veggies in it, cucumbers and tomatoes, all were fresh because they still had the crunch on them. The gyro meat was not dry, pretty good flavor. We were hoping it was going to be little bit of food, but it was a good size and I was full the rest of the day. Staff were nice too. I'm bummed that they eliminated the loyalty card tho... if you dont want to load the app on your phone, you can no longer participate in the loyalty program (screw you corporate and your bullshit tracking apps). Pit pit to me is a classier subway. We came here during the quarantine era- so we could only order to go. A little confusing at first because they have a menu hanging up of different pitas. I ordered the buffalo chicken pita. The guy working started the pita, and then went to the toppings and asked me what I wanted in my pita. This is why I was a little confused, because I ordered the menu pita, so I had to reference the menu to see what sounded good in my pita. Hah. Either way it was pretty good. So I was on the Southside during a long lunch break and wanted a grilled chicken sandwich that was reasonably priced....those are a lot harder to find than one would think so I decided to give Pita Pit a try! I had never been to one before so ordering was a little bit of a mystery but I found a menu item that looked like it would fit the bill and placed my order. They had signs up stating that the orders would take a little longer due to their COVID safety protocols (which I appreciate). When my turn came up I was a little confused because they asked me what I wanted and I had ordered off the menu but they were super patient and helped me make a very yummy grilled chicken pita with lots of warm tasty toppings. Only four stars because the pita was torn really bad before the pita maker started filling it and when I received it it was super hard to eat and the toppings were falling out everywhere. Pita Pit at the midtown location is a little better than the south side. The staff tend to have a better feel for customer rushes and are more relaxed when there is a crowd. I like that the staff is usually like it when they ask to cut the sandwich in half and ensure that all toppings you would like go on your sandwich or salad. Online using regular search engine it shows your eatery open until 8pm. We got there about 7:20m and the door was locked. We could see employees inside. Your phone answering machine says you're open until 9pm. Last week when we stopped by for a pita, it was closed and locked too. LOVE this place! I dream of Pita... What a wonderful and BETTER than subway place. The employees are always pleasant though a bit immature, but honestly - it's fast food - kids are going to work there. Although teenagers are not my favorite company I understand how they are, and they need to build their portfolios! You're not going to hire people with doctorates at a fast food place - so don't expect it. Besides kids being kids, they've never been unpleasant or unprofessional (unless you count trying to slam dunk burnt mushrooms in the trash) When it gets busy it gets a little confusing, but after a few visits it's easy to fall in to the groove of things. After a mix up that ended in me biting into a meat pita instead of my Vegan Pita, I wrote a negative review of these guys. I was pretty upset, to be honest, experiencing that after over a year of being Vegan, and wasn't planning on going back anytime soon. The owner contacted me shortly after, and apologized, offering to cater for my entire workplace. He brought us chips, drinks, and a huge half-Vegan, half-meat pita platter with hummus and sliced pita for dipping. Everyone was super impressed and happy...honestly just blown away. Most places wouldn't even be concerned about losing the business of one person, but he even held a store meeting discussing my issue with the staff, instructing them to be more careful of future mix ups. Bottom line, everyone makes mistakes, and the way they handled the whole experience redeemed them for me. Thank you for making things right, and making me the "office Hero" for a day :P I will def be going back to Pita pit and ordering from them because I can tell they really care about customer satisfaction and they respect my Ethical stance against Meat and Dairy. Only the crew at this location could make a "fast food" style restaurant feel like a customized sit down meal. Freddy went above and beyond to make our order exactly like we wanted and even offered us options we didn't even know were possible. Everything was super fresh and extremely satisfying. We were informed of the current specials and promos going on, and Freddy offered a wealth of knowledge about the food he was preparing for us. He prepared our pitas with perfection and made it look so easy, and I knowing full and well when I try it at home, it will be a disaster. Also another reason to frequent the Pita Pit! The dining area was clean and welcoming. The bathroom facilities were pristine and comfortable, as well. The trophies and visible support for local businesses makes it encouraging to see a corporate based restaurant so involved in their community. I'm a fan of the midtown location and am now a fan of this south location. Came in with a group and we were all helped by friendly pita makers. The space for eating inside is clean, but I liked the option of eating outside at one of the tables provided. I liked the quality of the ingredients and the sandwich, but if I eat fast food I usually am a little surprised by the $9 price tag here. It doesn't stop me from eating these pitas though. One thing to note is the menu states that the falafel pita comes with tahini dressing here and at the midtown location, but both locations do not have tahini and the workers are always surprised when I point out this option that isn't provided. Went to this location today and the girl working the closing shift made our pitas and rushed to get us out even thought there was 20/30 mins till closing and when we went and ate our pitas the bread had tears on it and fell apart causing all of the fillings to fall out and wasting more than half the food. First impressions were good, but unfortunately it went downhill fast. It's really clean and the staff were all very nice and friendly - almost too friendly. We walked in and were reviewing the menu and discussing options and the girl at the register came over and asked if it was our first time. She then proceeded to explain the menu to us...every single item...in great detail. It rapidly became apparent she was going to go through the entire menu item by item so I finally had to interrupt her by saying thank you for the information and we'd order in a few minutes. I settled on a Philly Cheesesteak pita and my wife went with the traditional gyro. This is where the service became...bizarre. We ordered the food and moved down to the right of the counter, where you choose add-ons - just like Subway. Keep in mind, this is FIVE FEET from the register where we just ordered. The girl there asked us what were having. We thought she was asking what we wanted on our pitas but after some confusion, it turns out we had to give them our orders again so they could cook the meat. Again, we just ordered the food...FIVE FEET away...30 seconds earlier. There was also confusion over what sort of pita's we wanted, which is amazing because apparently there are only two options - white and whole wheat. Then we got into the other add-ons, which I'll address in a minute. They put the meat on the grill. For my wife, there were three decently sized strips of gyro meat. For my Philly there was about half the amount of meat my wife had. It was an abysmally, pitifully small amount of meat. The girl asked me if I would like some veggies and cheese cooked with my meat so I added onions, mushrooms and provolone. This is where it really gets sad. I already had a tiny amount of meat for my gyro. The girl literally picked up the onions and mushrooms with her fingertips. I kid you not...I'm guessing she had maybe 4 mushroom slices and 10 pieces of diced onion. Keep in mind this is pre-cooked and the onions and mushrooms were going to cook down to half that amount. I told the girl I was going to want more onions and mushroom than she put on the grill and she did about the same amount again. *sigh* Long story short, I had one of the most pitifully small gyros I've ever seen. I hate to keep using the word literally, but in this case it's true - the pita literally wrapped around the food inside twice. It was about the size of a taquito, maybe two fingers thick. My wife had me do her pita order after seeing how much trouble I had with mine. I added Tzatziki, onions, tomatoes, cucumber and Feta. On every single item, I had to have them double the amounts of things and on the Tzatziki I had to have them triple it. It seems like they would have figured it out by now, but no, I had to keep repeating myself on the amounts. In the end, my wife wound up with a decent sized gyro, but it was still smaller than any gyro I've ever ordered anywhere else. And lest you think we're big fat hog-monsters with unreasonable expectations, two more sets of customers came in after us and they had the same problem. They had to keep telling the girl at the counter to add more stuff. So let's talk about price. We bought the medium meals, which came to $22 and some change. I *HATE* places that make you pay for food prior to eating and that have a place for a tip on the receipt. In retrospect, I feel like an idiot because I left a $4 tip for nothing. This is basically a Subway, where you stand there and wait on your food. I wasn't sure what to expect so I left a tip. Lesson learned. So for $26 (or $22 if you're smarter than I am and read this review), we got two medium drinks, two bags of chips and our pitas. My wife's pita was a decent size; mine was absolutely pathetic - to put it into perspective, I could have eaten my pita in about 4 bites. Hers would have taken me 8-10 bites. I was still hungry after eating - so much so that I drove out to the right, went over to Wendy's and grabbed a Jr. Cheeseburger. I could have gone to Zorba's Gyro's and got a much bigger gyro, chips and a drink for $7 (easily 1.5 x the food). Likewise, I could have gone to either Sparta Pizza or Milano's and got a huge Philly Cheesesteak with DOUBLE meat and an entire Styrofoam container of fries for $12 (easily 4x the food) -- normally my wife and I split one of these and it's a full meal for both of us. So my verdict? The place is clean. The service was muddled but friendly. The food was tasty. But the prices were WAY out of line for the amount of food received. IMO it's not worth eating there. I can appreciate more food options in Anchorage and I can appreciate a franchisee trying to make money, but what I can't appreciate is a restaurant that is so stingy with the food - particularly produce - that I customer leaves hungry enough they have to go somewhere else to eat after finishing a meal. read more
