My experiences here have been mixed. In general I'm not a fan of national chains on principle, especially if there are locally run mom and pops nearby. But occasionally when we are at the pharmacy nearby and pressed for time after work, we land at Smashburger. In particular, we like their small outdoor seating area on a sunny day which are so rare in Anchorage. But I have learned their tables are almost never clean, so i come prepared with babywipes and hand sanitizer to deal with cleanliness issues. The trashcans are also overflowing, which always gives me pause. Their fries are terrible and overpriced. My husband loves their weird little Brussel sprout things, but holy hell are they salty. Definitely enough for a party of 3. But I absolutely love their Pickle Stack burger. I don't even like mustard, But man, it is the exact perfect proportions of meaty cheese, meat, mustard and PICKLES!!! I hope they make this seasonal burger part of their permanent menu. read more

Food is good, the restaurant is not. I tried to come here last Friday about 5pm and their entire computer system went down. The "lady in charge" said it would be a few minutes and gave us free drinks. Yea... we waited an hour, for some reason, and they still weren't on. Couldn't online order, they could do nothing. Were happy to feed all the teenage boys "working" though. Ok so wanted to try them again. I thought about ordering on the app but didn't want to put all my card info in so just ordered in store. The app (who didn't know any better) said the wait was 10 minutes. I get in the store and almost everyone sitting down didn't have any food. They were getting the burgers ready but the sides were taking soooo long. The burgers would just sit in the window, waiting for their fry companion. I waited 25 minutes with a litteral screaming squirmy wormy baby. Why come here when McDonald's is like 2 minutes. I wanted a kaladi brothers shake too but didn't want to pay $9 for a soda sized cup. They made their sweet potatoes into waffle fries when they used to be regular shaped fries. I think that's what slowed them down. Honestly the price wasn't bad, 7.99 for a regular smash burger but the wait was too long. read more

We spent $58, tipped $6, and there were no clean tables for us to sit at. When we found a table, we asked the person who took our order if they can get someone to wipe down the table, he didn't. No one came to wipe down our table. We had to wipe off the crumbs ourself and the table was still sticky and had napkins and food under our feet from previous customers. I regret tipping and won't tip here in the future. read more

As delicious as their food is, I'm really really disappointed with the service I received around 8:30pm on a Sunday. I ordered online for pick up and drove 20 mins to get my order. When I entered, the staff were all mopping. Being in customer service myself, and having been a server and a barista years before, I completely understand needing to get ahead of closing tasks and duties. I don't know what was going on with the person behind the front counter....but I had to speak up to get her attention. She didn't even acknowledge me. I told her I was picking up an order and she just asked the name, set it on the counter and went back to mopping. Didn't even acknowledge that I wished them a good night. I wouldn't be speaking up about this....but the energy in the atmosphere/ambience was pretty cold and it left me feeling like I was bothering them. I left feeling both annoyed and disappointed. read more

They don't disappoint y'all. Forget your usual fast food places and UPGRADE! The burger options are so flavorful and they have spicy options. Love the sweet potato fries or waffle fries. Guys the Kenai cheese with the jalapeño yesssss!! It's called the Alaska burger, I believe, get it!! Let's talk drinks, tons of options but I recommend the organic Agua Frescas. Casual atmosphere and helpful staff. I don't feel bad when I eat here cause it's like the healthier fast food alternative. Enjoy! read more

First time trying this restaurant and I'm very impressed! The burgers were hot, juicy and full of flavor. The sweet potato waffle fries weren't very hot but still yummy nonetheless! We ended up eating inside but there were nice outside tables as well. The staff are friendly and helpful. Would've given 5 stars but unfortunately a handful of the tables inside were pretty dirty and we had to wipe our own table down with a napkin. I definitely recommend others to grab a nice burger from this place :) read more

I walked in and ordered my food. While I'm waiting, I watch no less than four GrubHub and DoorDash delivery drivers walk in, only to be handed multiple cups so that the delivery person could get drinks. Meanwhile, the counter personnel go right back to looking at their phones. These workers are young people, teenagers. They are being taught that you can make $16-$18 an hour looking at your phone and getting other people to do their work. read more

I tried Smashburger for the first time, by way of Doordash. Everything with delivery went fine. The brussell sprouts were surprisingly tasty with crisp texture. Strips and fries looked okay. My Cobb salad was divine, but what's up with no dressing? My burger wasn't bad but (see photo) it was literally "smashed," and oozing with ketchup. Bit of an ick. Overall, I would order again. read more

Apparently if you order thru Yelp app they do not get the special instructions. So we got our order quite timely but with very disappointedly plain burgers. No remedy per management so will have to think long and hard before I ever order from them again! Either call in your order or go in person. So much for online connivence!! read more

Those brussel sprouts were the game changer for me. Seasoned well and crispy! So glad I got them instead of the usual fries. I've been here a few times when they were still new in the area, however never got to reviewing. Food has always been delicious! One of my favorite spots for when I'm craving a yummy burger. From bun to patty and all the veggies included, it was proportional and delectable. Service was fast and friendly.. dine in area and outdoors is kept clean. Will go again.. They've got great choices on their menu! read more

As with Smashburgers in other states I've frequented, this location has a local burger, the Alaska Kenai. The only real unique feature on this one is the Kenai cheese. Who knew? The Oreo shake was good, and for just under $7, it damn well better have been. Hagen-Dazs ice cream. No wonder. At least throw me a few more ounces. The smash fries were tasty as usual. Rosemary and aioli. Just under $4 The double burger was delicious. Just over $10. If you weren't doing the math as you were reading, that's just under $21. Ouch. read more

I feel bad that I have to give this place a 1 star because of 1 specific person. My family and I went in to eat and we are ordering and there is a kid training; the "owner" or "manager" was training him and the whole time she was being so impatient with him and doing nitty gritty critics right in front of us. After we had gotten our food i observed her making rude remarks towards him and basically talking crap about him to the other workers there. she even went as far as being rude to him across the restaurant. Did anyone else get the Smashburger coupons in the mail recently??? I like to try new places, especially when they send a buy one double-bacon-smashburger, get a second for $1! We arrived for lunch on a Friday and were immediately greeted at the counter. I took a few brief seconds to peruse the menu boards, but my mind was already made up: Double bacon Smashburger is music to my ears. We got our double doubles (ha!) and a side of tots, plus 2 fountain drinks for $20. After placing our order, we chose a window seat in the sunshine - all the tables were cleared, clean and well-stocked with napkins and condiments. In a few short minutes, lunch arrived and I was impressed with how well the burgers were put together: stacked well, piping hot on a buttery and soft bun. One juicy bite later, I knew I was in trouble because I was gonna scarf this burger down in record time. Fresh lettuce and tomato, plus 2 juicy patties with crispy bacon - everything I wanted was there, cooked perfectly. And those buns! What can I say? I'm a fool for a soft, buttery bun that holds up against a juicy burger so solidly. And let's not skip the smash tots because they were so delicious, perfectly crispy with a hint of truffle and rosemary. Seriously, these tots rivaled any other fast food joint and that's hard for me to say as a Sonic devotee. Great experience and delicious food means we will certainly be back soon. read more

Not much to say about Smashburger. They offer a pretty eclectic menu with lots of choices to be made... but ultimately nothing really sings. I tried a more traditional double, and my wife got their spicy Baja with guac. We also nabbed an order of their 'smashfries' which are seasoned with rosemary and garlic. The result? A couple burgers and some fries. At the price point we'd definitively always choose Tommy's. But, if we weren't on that side of town and had a hankering for a burger we'd likely just end up driving through our local McDonald's - something that better fits the price tag for expectations. Smashburger definitely didn't make any bad food, but for us it's pretty run of the mill. read more

Had a simple cheese burger and tots. Food came out hot and quick. Store was clean and staff was friendly. Well done.

Came in and got a bacon cheeseburger with a friend who also ordered sweet potato fries with his cheeseburger. We did not smash our burgers. It was good and fast. We sat at the bar near at the windows since all the tables were taken. It wasn't a bad spot to sit, though the tables were taken up by people and kids not eating. I was like, what? What are you doing here then? Killing time, I guess. Would come again. read more

I'm gluten free person and I always had a GF bun on smash burger. Last week I got a chicken hamburger and because I'm GF I couldn't order a crispy chicken burger. Then I order a grilled chicken burger. OMGoodness that was the worse chicken burger I ever had. The only good thing on this burger was the GF bun. Inside the burger was a ground chicken with no taste and very very extremely thin burger, two very thin slices of tomato, a teeny tiny piece of lettuce and almost no mayonnaise that's is it. To pay a price of ground chicken burger I could go to the grocery and buy ground chicken and make it my own burger with a lot more and better things inside the burger. Was a no tasteless and completely flavorless burger and expensive for what it was. I've going to Smash burger for long time but im so disappointed that I decided not go to smash burger anymore. I only gave two stars for the gluten free bun. WHAT DISAPPOINTMENT I'll have to shop around for a better burger place !!! I don't recommend Smash burger but if you go "Good luck " read more

We got take out last night (Colorado burgers and fries). I've been to this location a number of times over the years, and the burgers are very good, but messy. It takes a little while for the food to be made (which is fine, since fresh is better than fast), so keep that in mind. Our order took about 10 minutes. Ordering in the app is the way to go, though gift card payments can't be used in the app. I think the weakest point here are the smashfries--they taste great, but are swimming in oil. Good food, and not too expensive for the quality. read more

I placed 2 orders online on May 23rd at 4:25pm. I had my daughter picked up the order for me not anticipating there will be missing items in my order. She got home and I noticed that there was no Oreo Cookies & Cream and Strawberry shake. My daughter said she was only handed 2 brown bags when she picked it up. I called the store and spoken to the manager and I was told that they cannot do refund right now and offered to remake the shake but I have to pick it up today. I asked if she can make a note to have me pick it up tomorrow as we live near Muldoon area so it is a long way to go back today and get it. She said she can't do that per the policy because there's a lot of customers taking advantage of reporting missing orders. I was expecting that she will just replace it when it's convenient for the customers to pick it up. The manager made me feel that it was my fault which is not a characteristic to have when you're in that higher position. Smashburger in Anchorage, AK read more

I'm on a weird low-carb diet (even more strict on carbs that Adkins or Paleo, it's brutal) so I tried a burger here with no bun. I saw that you could get a lettuce wrap here, so that is what I did. I ordered online. What I got more closely resembled a salad with a hamburger patty on it. I'm still new to this carb-challenged life I found myself in, so I don't know if this is how its normally done or not. I customized a burger. I added bacon, goat cheese, and jalapenos among the normal hamburger fixins. The ingredients seemed really fresh. It is rare to find lettuce and tomatoes this healthy-looking in the 49th state! The actual meat was...just ok. Maybe I'm biased because I'm a "rare" guy. But this patty was very over-cooked. It was dried almost to jerky-levels. Afterward, I was still more hungry than I'd like to be, but maybe that's because I wasn't able to buffer the meal with a bun and fries. Worth a shot if you like burgers and well-done meat. I was impressed with everything surrounding the burger, just not the burger itself. read more

Great burgers, and even better brussel sprouts! I should just order an order of Brussels with a side of Brussels as I love them SO much. I often times feel the burgers could use a bit more salt... Three different occasions I have ordered hamburgers without red onions and each time they were served with onions. This last time I ordered through DoorDash and received onions on our burgers. So, I called and they said come in and we'll make new ones or call DoorDash and they will handle it. I ordered elsewhere and shared the issue was not with DoorDash but Smashburger. This was not an easy night and an apology would have helped , or at least take responsibility. I tried to write to their smashfeedback.com, but they require a store number and one isn't provided on the receipt. A closer look at other online order reviews shows a variety of receipt pics online without a required store number presented on the receipt, Google reviews for example. I called in the morning and two people later was told the store number on 104th St is : 1590 read more

I've been eating Smashburger for about 10 years back in Texas and California. They're pretty consistent in quality and freshness. I love that they have tater tots. I get so tired of fries. Lots of customizable options. The lines can get pretty long and you'll wait a bit when that happens. They've messed up my order more than once which is always frustrating. But they remake it no problem. I've learned to order online and pick up and eat there. It's ready when I walk in and I can just sit. Really great when lines are long. A go go spot for me. read more
