Surprised I haven't mentioned the Den before this. We dine here several times every year when vacationing on the island. The Den is an American casual restaurant at the north end of the island. I have had breakfast, lunch and dinner here several times and never a bad meal. TBH the breakfasts are EPIC! My all time #1 favorite breakfast is corned beef has with poached eggs, sliced (Jersey) tomatoes and rye toast. The Den does it flawlessly. My wife also enjoys their pancakes. You need to google the menu to see why you really ought to go. It is bright, clean and attractively decorated. The staff are uniformly polite and pleasant. Seriously, go for the breakfasts. You can go every day for weeks and have something different - and delicious. read more

Perfect way to kick start a morning at the beach! We had a large party and were able to make a reservation ahead of time which was fabulous since it's a smaller restaurant. The decor is definitely giving pirate, and of course I left with a mug! The servers were all extremely attentive, frequently checking in and refilling coffees. The food came out quick and was fantastic! Looking forward to future breakfasts here when at the beach! read more

I was sold on either the lemon ricotta pancakes or banana foster French toast but saw a creative special " From the Sea" and I was sold . Omelette-ting the good times roll one shrimp at a time ! Yes , I think I could be a pescatarian. The omelette was filled with shrimp, cheddar cheese and cilantro with toppings of crab meat, avocado, and hollandaise drizzle. The sides were hash browns and toast ! The diner style hash browns were shredded and crispy. Best breakfast on the Island . Enough food for two days ! Holy shrimp ! Always happy with our meals here... Breakfast, lunch or dinner. Favorites Greek omelette, pirate muffin, homemade soups, grilled chicken salad and fried lobster tails Yum!! Service is always on point. Breakfast coffee is as soon as u r seated. Clean, coastal decor with outside seating in nice weather. Don't forget to walk off some calories after your meal across the street on the sea wall! read more

Had breakfast here twice while in Brigantine for vacation. Was an easy walk from my rental but finding street parking nearby didn't seem to be an issue. It's a quaint beach spot. The indoor dining room was bigger inside than I expected. We ate once outside and once inside. The service outside was much slower. When our food came out, we had to wait for utensils. Then I had to wait again for syrup. No sense of urgency. Indoors we had no issue since more attentive people passing by walking around. For food, I loved the Lemon ricotta pancakes. The seawall scramble was nothing special and the hash browns were average. The breakfast quesadilla was tasty and Philly cheesesteak eggs Benedict also average. read more

We ordered burgers and they where good except one or the three was way undercooked Ordered medium rare and got very rare They were very busy so maybe a one off The service was friendly and attentive We finished with cappuccinos but they came out stone cold The waitstaff was apologetic and replaced them But it looks like they don't know how to use the fancy coffee machine I would not recommend anything but very basic menus in a pinch There are better place on the island with comparable pricing Btw it's nicely remodeled and gone is the pirate theme - they should have focused more on the food vs the remodeling read more

Apparently they're under new ownership - the restaurant is so cute on the inside, and the food was excellent! Service was also wonderful. This is a great place to eat. Friendly faces - got sat quickly and had a drink on the table quickly. Waitress could not have been more friendly! Food came quick and was delicious. A little pricey, but it's a tourist destination. My only complaint is the waitress never came back after she dropped the food. I had to flag someone down for drink refills. A great breakfast spot where are you can sit outside and enjoy the ocean breezes and really appreciate the surroundings! Our group enjoyed the vegetable eggs Benedict, the seawall scramble and the western omelette today. Prices are good and the food quality is excellent. I would recommend getting here before 10 on weekdays and 9 on weekends, as the patio tends to fill up quickly. They serve lunch and dinner too! read more

Got recommended this place and it did NOT disappoint! Service was excellent, Carrie was perfect! I like the spot and how it's right next to the ocean. The coffee was great, I got the churro pancakes a side of bacon. There was a good amount of bacon and it was crispy, the pancakes had a lottt of cinnamon, next time i would go for something simpler. Portion size was perfect, definitely bang for your buck. The bathroom was very nice and clean as well. read more

Great breakfast experience with Lori as our waitress. Mike provided excellent service keeping us with fresh coffee & water refills. The entire staff was delightfully friendly & welcoming! Our food was fresh and delivered quickly. We enjoyed the meat omelette which was loaded and left our Mike with plenty to take home. Herlyn loved her chipped beef and said it was then"best" she's had! It was delicious, I must say as it was not thick & heavy and quite flavorful. My breakfast of boiled eggs, canadian bacon(3 pieces of juiciness) & perfectly cooked potatoes was very good. Since it is pumpkin season, I had to give their pumpkin pancake a try. Although tasty, I do prefer a more fluffier lighter pancake though. We will enjoy the Pirates Den again for sure! read more

This is my go-to place for breakfast in Brigantine. I always get the Stuffed French Toast with a side of bacon. OK , maybe I'm a bit boring because I always get the same thing...but I really love that French Toast! I do always end up trying what other people in my party are having and everything is always great. Although I usually go for breakfast, I have also had dinner there and it was also very good. Staff is very friendly and attentive to me when I visit. Brigantine is a very family oriented town and they are the people who frequent the Pirates Den. I have also noticed a lot of regulars who are probably locals since there aren't that many restaurants in the area. It does get busy during summer so expect a wait especially at dinner time. Their decor is beachy, as expected and gives a nice vibe to their dining rooms. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

Had a great breakfast and lunch here at the north end of Brigantine Island. This place has been a mainstay on the island for decades. Service was great. The remodeled interior has a modern feel and there was lovely seating around the outside with beautiful flowering plants. Food is your standard diner fair. The selling point for Pirates Den it is directly across the street from the ocean and the Brigantine seawall. Pirates Den probably has the best location for any restaurant on the island, or very close to it. They have a fairly large menu with a wide variety of choices. Pasta , Fish, Sandwiches,Breakfast. etc. I had the Brig Burger, it wasn't the best hamburger I ever had but it was more then decent. The French fries were quite good, crispy on the outside. My wife had a salad and that was good also. Our waitress was really nice and attentive. Pirates Den has early bird dinners on the back of their menu at reduced prices. They do take out also. 3.5 Yelp stars. read more

Best Hamburger and more! My family and I have been coming to Brigantine for 30 years and we always come for breakfast at the Pirates Den. We have had a few dinners as well and it is always great and very consistent. Recently, my wife and I wanted a burger with fries. We both had the bacon avocado burger with fries. I also started with their homemade French Onion soup. The soup was delicious and was not salty. It reminded me of when I had it in Paris. As for the burgers, I would stack it up against some of the top steak house burgers. They were delicious and quite big. It tasted like a mix of sirloin and brisket. Overall, they have a great menu and we have tried many items but this is the first for a burger but not the last. read more

Well, for a great meal consistently, this is your go to place! Breakfast,Lunch or Dinner, food is well just very yummy! The restaurant is nicely decorated with Nautical accents. The staff is really part of the main attraction! Food and Staff are what makes this place special! Norma with a nice big smile as you enter and then you meet Lori, Carole, or Joanie! After years of coming to brigantine we finally made it to the pirates den for breakfast. I got the eggs Benedict which was pretty good. My husband got a club sandwich and brother got an omelet. We also noticed how many tables had French toast so of course we had to try it. It was good but not spectacular. I would say still worth trying. Overall I was pleasantly surprised with the meal and will hopefully be back! read more

The crab cake sandwich was very tasty. The crab cake itself was not dry unlike most crab cakes. The lettuce and tomato complemented the crab cakes very well also. The chips and coleslaw weren't the best as the chips where kind of stale and the coleslaw was to chunky. The service was pretty good and the ambiance looks like a modern kind of diner type feel. read more

We had the best time at Pirates Den. We were able to get a table for 9 very quickly and Donnel provided excellent service and even offered to take a picture of our group at the sea wall across the street. This is a really nice restaurant right off the beach. We had take out from here twice and were very pleased with what we had. We ordered: - Cheese steak - we had this both times we ordered, so good - Flat bread pizza with blue cheese, fig and balsamic syrup - Very good - Cheese burger - tasty - Strawberry and goat cheese salad - very good - Tuna - tasty but a bit bland, the horseradish sauce was a bit too strong I would recommend the Pirates Den. read more

Another excellent breakfast today at my favorite beach eatery. The easy over eggs cooked perfectly. The scrapple was crisp on the outside and creamy inside. The potatoes were also crisp and creamy. Fluffy and huge short stack with butter and syrup and a side of perfectly toasted rye bread with butter make a filling breakfast to start your beach day. My wife enjoyed her scrambled eggs with side of hash browns and some of my short stack. Bottomless cups of coffee and tea to wash everything down. Established in 1976.

The Pirates Den has been located on the north end of Brigantine Island since 1976. It has stood the test of time during the tenure of it's previous two owners, and will continue to serve excellent quality, consistent dishes under the purview of new ownership. Prior to opening as a full service Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner operation, it's history began in 1962 as an Ice Cream shop. The staff working the buffet line were also all really nice and genuinely seemed happy to be there which makes such a difference. Food wise there were a lot of standouts. The chargrilled steak had a really nice flavor and the prime rib was super tender and juicy. The pastas were cooked perfectly and the sauces were light, bright, and flavorful instead of heavy. The mac and cheese is an absolute must. They use big shell noodles with a creamy cheese sauce and toasted breadcrumbs on top which gives it great texture. The collard greens were surprisingly one of our favorite things and we went back for seconds. So much flavor. The spiced shrimp is a hidden gem and definitely something we grabbed multiple times. The pizza was also surprisingly good. We tried the mushroom and spinach and it honestly tasted like something you would get from a really solid pizza spot not a buffet. The only thing I would say is the chicken parm is hit or miss depending on how fresh it is. If it has been sitting it can get a little soggy so I would try to grab it when a fresh tray comes out. Pro tip leave room for dessert. The dessert section is incredible. The gelato was rich and creamy especially the chocolate. The croissant cinnamon roll hybrid was flaky on the outside with a soft gooey center and the cookies and cream cheesecake was rich without being too heavy. I also really liked how the seating is set up. You can sit on either side of the buffet and choose between booths or tables which makes it feel a little less chaotic. Very Disappointing -- Borgata Has Really Gone Downhill…read more I visited the Borgata buffet over Labor Day weekend with my family of four, and the total was close to $200. Unfortunately, for that price, I honestly felt that we would have been better off going to a regular restaurant with better tasting food. I hadn't been to the Borgata buffet in a very long time. I remember when it was around $30-$35 per person, and I had much better memories of the food. That's why it was especially disappointing to see how much it seems to have declined. There were a few highlights. The gelato was very good, and I will say the dessert section seems to have improved. The salmon was probably the standout savory dish. The platanos, waffles, pork ribs, and meatballs were also good. The General Tso's chicken was decent as well. Unfortunately, those positives were outweighed by the negatives. There wasn't even much of a fruit selection anymore, which was surprising for a buffet at this price point. The sushi rice wasn't prepared properly all mushy and the shrimp cocktail didn't taste particularly fresh. The seasoned shrimp was also far too salty. The seafood section was particularly disappointing. The clams were so salty that they were essentially inedible, and whoever seasoned the mussels simply did not get the seasoning right. These are not particularly complicated dishes, so it was surprising to see them executed so poorly. The fried foods were also hit or miss. Some batches looked cooked on the outside, but the shrimp inside were still undercooked and appeared almost raw. Some of the vegetables, such as the zucchini, were noticeably undercooked as well. The steak was very tough, while the prime rib was extremely bland and lacked flavor. The Chinese section, aside from the General Tso's chicken, was particularly disappointing. The pasta dishes, including the macaroni and cheese over cooked and tasteless w alfredo being was oddly sweet was extremely underwhelming. And honestly, this is what surprised me most about the entire experience. It's not as though the buffet has an enormous number of dishes that would make it impossible to maintain quality. The selection is relatively limited, and many of the individual dishes are not particularly difficult to prepare. Yet so many of them were either poorly seasoned, undercooked, overcooked, bland, or simply not executed well. When you have a smaller selection of dishes, you would expect those dishes to be done really well. Instead, it felt like there were only a handful of things that were actually worth eating. That is what made the experience so surprising and disappointing. Overall, a large majority of the food was simply not good enough to justify going to a buffet. At nearly $200 for four people, I expected significantly better quality and consistency. What made this experience even more disappointing is that this was my parents' first time staying at the Borgata. Unfortunately, the food experience was poor enough that it actually made them less interested in wanting to stay at the hotel again. When you're spending money on a casino resort, the dining experience is part of the overall experience--and a bad meal can definitely affect whether you want to return. Borgata used to be one of my favorite places to go in Atlantic City, so I really wanted to like it. But after this visit, I'm not sure I would choose it over newer properties like Hard Rock or Ocean Casino Resort. Those properties may be newer, but at this point, I think I'd rather spend my money there than return to this buffet. Overall: very disappointing, especially considering the price and what I remember Borgata being like in the past.

My wife and I tried The pirates Den for dinner last weekend, we were so disappointed. We went many times last winter and it was always good, and we loved the waiter and waitress. Not sure if there are new owners or managers, but it was awful. The waitress had no personality , and was on her phone the whole time, she could of cared less about any of the customers. The bus man ran over before we even sat down and asked us what we wanted to drink. Very awkward. The food was ok, the waitress never came back other than to give us our check and to let us know they were closing and she needed to leave soon. We will never ever go back. read more

Deli define and decor including deli counter and display of meats and cheeses…read more Started with a coffee and 2 waters with real plastic straws Then opened with the Wedding soup with meatballs, celery, carrots, spinach; very hot with a chicken base broth I had the #2 Deuces Wild 2 eggs over medium , 2 flavorful fluffy pancakes with Schmuckers breakfast syrup packets, 2 sausage cooked well done , 2 bacon cooked medium and the bottomless coffee Next we had the Grilled Chicken Caesar Wrap with Romaine, Parmesan, Tomato & Caesar Dressing, with a cold, crisp pickle. Everything was flavorful, casual deli atmosphere Update 1-14-24 This time unfortunately, the eggs were undercooked along with the French toast with the batter still dripping. Server service was nearly nonexistent, they were not as busy as usual with open booths. Downgrading from a four star to a three star review.
