    Maine Clam Chowder
    Brian M.

Dock's Oyster House, a stalwart since 1897, still whispers old Atlantic City as you step inside -- piano and raw bar upon entry, woods and ornateness, and a merman sign glowing under warm light, evoking salty tales of the sea. The seafood tower arrived regal on crushed ice: briny oysters, plump shrimp, sweet clams, cracked lobster, and a zesty ceviche crown. Fresh lobster gleamed crimson perfection. Branzino, crisp-skinned and lemon-kissed, nestled on quinoa beside vibrant greens. Yet the true revelation was the Maine clam chowder--clams proudly in shell, broth cream-tinged yet restrained, never heavy, a harmonious dance of ocean and shellfish. A dessert I'll forever remember - Joe's Cheese Pie. Decadent and delightful. Service, merely adequate, tempered the joy. Still, Dock's delivers timeless delight for the discerning palate.

Came here for dinner while here for a conference. Sat down and served water and ordered drinks. Rolls with butter served. Ordered shrimp cocktail and fried calamari as an appetizer. Very good. Ceaser salad , manhattan clam chowder, con chowder and main clam chowder all served. Everyone liked their soups with real clams served. Our entrees which took a very long time to come were all very good. Fried seafood platter, salmon special, stuffed flounder and soft shell crabs. Dessert was the banana cream pie which is always great. Ambiance was very nice. Will be back next year.

We came for the happy hour madness and had a pleasant time. Amazing customer service. Good food and this place is booming. Our only complaint is the couple hawking for our table kept trying to force conversation and was standing oddly close the ENTIRE time. We ordered the following: Crab corn chowder: 10/10 incredible! Oysters Rockefeller: 7/10 overcooked Champagne oysters: 7/10 pretty good. Different taste for sure. Buffalo oyster: 8/10 creative and good Parmesan oysters: 9/10 my favorite oyster Buffalo cauliflower: 10/10 I love a good cauliflower Smoked fish dip: 6/10 pass. I don't like it cold, didn't get to warm it up at home. Clams casino: 8/10 very good Fried calamari: 7.5/10 super light/no crisp. Fresh. Mini crab cakes: 6/10 decent but could've not ordered Lobster Mac n cheese: 4/10 lobster was good, Mac and cheese part was missing the cheese.

If you want good seafood while in Atlantic city or in the South Jersey area, this is the place! They have amazing and fresh seafood dishes here. They're open for lunch and dinner, but we always go for their happy hour! They have one of the best happy hours we've eaten at! They can get really busy and people tend to line up anywhere from 30-60 minutes before opening up depending on the weather, season and day. Happy hour is first come first serve seating by the bar area. They offer free valet parking there. There is street parking, but it's limited. The servers were really kind and patient, and made sure our groups were comfortable and accommodated! They decorate a little bit during the holidays which made my dinner date with my wife romantic. They have a nice selection of cocktails and beverages. Alcoholic beverages aren't on the happy hour specials menu, but they are all delicious and pair well with the dishes. We always order their oysters on the half shell. Always fresh and juicy. You have to try the champagne leek broiled oysters! We get them every time! The clams casino, tuna tacos and steam mussels were good and flavorful. They have other tasty dishes on their entree menu you can order depending on what you're in the mood for. They are a little pricy but well worth it! Highly recommend!

While visiting AC during our spring break, we knew we were going to visit Dock's. We went two years ago and we had such a great time talking with Chef Stefan....we had to do it again! We went for happy hour the first day we went...yes we went twice in one week! Happy hour was packed so get there early. We enjoyed the pianist who kept the ambiance fun! We dined on oysters on the 1/2 shell (10/10), oysters Rockefeller (9/10), deviled eggs w/ fried oysters (8/10), mini crab cakes (10/10), & cucumber gin martinis (10/10). Chef came by our table, caught up, & took pictures. He sent out bowls of lobster chowder. This chowder was hands down our favorite!! Ask for it, because it's not on the menu.

I had high expectations for this place but was disappointed with the service. Our server was good however the whole service was a mess. When they brought out the appetizers we had ordered oysters, the food runner did not tell us which oysters was what. He just left our apps on the table and left. We overlooked that seemed like he was busy and maybe forgot. Not even half way through our appetizers our entree came out. We were very confused because it's not like we were half way through our apps, we just took like 2 bits. Once we finished the appetizers they did not clean off our table, they just brought out the entree. Once the manager checked in with our table we told her the situation, she did apologize and comp us our dessert. That was nice but the overall experience was ruined. As for the food. I wanna say it was good not great. The fried oysters was nothing special, I got both buffalo and wasabi, if I had to choose the wasabi had more flavor than the buffalo. The scallops ceviche was flavorless but they did use nice chunks of scallops. My salmon entree was tasty however I found the salmon to be overcooked, it's probably because they took back our entree and left it under a heat lamp. Suffice to say I have mixed feelings about this place and that's why I'm giving this place a 3 star rating. If they work out their service issues this could be a good place.

We returned to this restaurant in Atlantic City for a second visit because we really enjoy the food here. Our reservation was at 7:45 PM, and we arrived 30 minutes early as per the restaurant's policy. While we didn't mind waiting for our reserved time, I noticed many guests leaving but i didn't hear anything from hostess. Eventually, I had to ask the host about our table. As a restaurant owner myself in New York, I understand the importance of policies, but I felt that the Asian host treated us differently, which left me with an impression of bias. I chose to speak to her assuming that we are the same Asian. would foster a more pleasant interaction. I'm uncertain whether they are welcoming to Asians when it comes to dining in. However, my server was quite pleasant. Unfortunately, I've decided that this will be my last visit to this restaurant.

Had a great seafood dinner with a large group. Fresh selection of shellfish, excellent steaks, and wonderful service. This is a AC must visit. Service was very good. Wonderful decor. You will have a great time at Docks.

Hands down THE BEST OYSTERS I've ever had, no exaggeration. I'd heard that Dock's was legit and I've seen the line of ppl waiting along the sidewalk and into the parking lot waiting for the doors to open. I have to admit, I thought it was overhyped. After experiencing Docks's myself, I now understand why it has the reputation it has. One word.... Fantastic. I started with 6 oysters and ended up downing 18 by myself ON TOP of eating dinner... they were THAT good. Love the airy space yet intimate feel in this large restaurant. Service was awesome as my waitress helped me to select some of the best things on the menu, from cocktails, to the octopus, the assortment of oysters all the way thru the main course and the chocolate cake for dessert, another gem. Great spot and a must have if you are ever in the Atlantic City area!

While it was pandemonium at 5:00 pm as many others like ourselves were trying to get a table at the bar before the 4-6pm happy hour ended, we were lucky enough to fall into a two top table by the window. I really would not have wanted to be the couple at the table in the middle of the chaos of people waiting, paying and looking for tables. The happy hour menu is awesome, all the food is fantastic and the wait staff are on point. Come armed with your patience and a kind heart, but come. It is a must not miss spot in a deteriorating tourist location.

Always a hit! I've been coming here for years. As has my family. Can't come to AC with out stopping here! Take an uber from your hotel. You won't regret it. This is classic AC. Food is always TOP. Staff always goes above and beyond. We got the lobster chowder. It's was packed with veggies, I was not expecting that but it was delicious. Nothing like a lobster bisque which is what I really wanted but they did not have. The oysters were really great. Definitely get a bunch of different kind. I got the lamb chops those were always my favorite go to. My partner got the ny sirloin. Oh and last but not least the crème brûlée ! Always a hit.

A good friend of mine recommended this restaurant. The food was great. If you do not make reservations, you will need to arrive early because the bar fills up quickly during happy hour. I had a 4:15 reservation, and the bar was packed by 4:05 when we arrived. Chef Stephen's was great, and he came out to the dining area, checking on patrons. Those potatoes were so good--airy and perfect crunch. I highly recommend it. My wife enjoyed her oyster and shrimp plate. Our waiter was nice. I lost my receipt with his name. Awesome guy. And the dining area was very nice. Looks great inside. 9/10!

    Gotta get the oysters!

Is it hard to get a reservation?

Yes very hard. If you don't mind eating at the bar you can usually get a seat if it's NOT Happy Hour which is 4-6. They have great happy hour deals but the bar gets pretty crowded. Go early

    Can men wear shorts?

Sure, as long as they aren't basketball/gym shorts or look tattered.

    Any dress code?

No dress code that I have noticed. The crowd generally trends towards the nicer end of casual though.

Is it ok to book reservations on line. Or call and make reservations?

I think they use resy for online stuff. Or just call them they are very helpful.

Is the happy hour menu at the bar only?

Yes happy hour is only at the bar and high top tables next to bar. I would get there 30 min ahead of time and wait in line outside to get in. Once the bar is filled you have to wait

BAD BUNNY FOREVER!! HUELEBICHOS…read more My experience at Ducktown Tavern was beyond unacceptable. From the second we walked in, the hostility was obvious. The staff was cold, dismissive, and openly rude -- not just inattentive, but deliberately disrespectful. The looks, the tone, the body language -- everything about the interaction felt degrading. As Latinos, we were made to feel unwelcome and unwanted. It was painfully clear that we were not being treated with the same basic courtesy given to others. No one should ever walk into a restaurant and feel judged or looked down on simply for who they are. To make matters worse, the place was dirty and poorly maintained, and the food was mediocre at best. For the way we were treated, the quality of the meal didn't even matter -- the experience was already ruined. There is absolutely no excuse for making customers feel uncomfortable or disrespected. I would strongly caution anyone who values dignity and professionalism to think twice before spending their money here.

OK (emphasis on just OK) locals spot that's about a 5-6 minute walk from Caesars and 10 minute walk…read morefrom Tropicana on Atlantic Avenue, a couple blocks inland from Boardwalk Hall. Been coming to Atlantic City for many (15+) years but checked this spot out for the first time a couple Sundays ago to watch the Eagles game and because I'd heard the wings were good here. Although small, Ducktown is a nicely set up spot centered around a single long bar. Got their an hour or so before the Eagles game and there were a few seats left at the bar so I grabbed one. One thing that mildly irked me was the game of musical chairs played at the bar. Maybe 5 minutes after I sat down, an older lady asked me if I wouldn't mind switching seats with her to make room for some friends she had coming in later for the game (which I did). Minutes after that a handful of other customers were asked to shift down one seat so another customer could sit next to his buddies. So musical chairs seems to be a thing at this bar. For a small bar the menu is fairly extensive. Ordered a couple of IPAs at the bar. What's semi-ridiculous though is you can't order food directly from the bar; you have to order it from another server who will place the order at the adjacent tavern and bring the food back to you. Also the food and drink had to be processed as separate checks (as opposed to under just one check). I ordered the 10 pc. hot wings ($14.50) and the mozzarella sticks appetizer ($6.50 with appetizers being half off during Eagles games). The mozzarella sticks were OK but I didn't like the wings - they weren't "hot" at all and were drier than I expected... not sauced to the level I expected. Watched most of the game and headed out a couple hours later. One thing to note is this spot does charge a 2.89% "administrative" fee for all credit card purchases. Another thing to note is that the restaurant's credit card processing system is powered by Toast where the restaurant has the default "suggested tips" amounts set up as 20%, 40%, and 60% LOL. I've never in my life seen 40% and 60% as suggested tip amounts on the receipt/e-processing system, so be very careful what buttons you press to leave a tip here. I'd personally rate this place 2.5* due to what I thought were subpar wings and shady credit card processing but I decided to round up to 3 due to the server and waiter being nice enough people who provided pretty good service. May or may not return, there are definitely better pubs out there in AC. Decent spot to watch games if you're an Eagles fan though.

We also ordered fries and truffle fries (subbed instead of regular fries), and everything tasted fantastic. That said, the pricing gave me a little pause. About $75 for two burgers, truffle fries, and sodas felt steep, but honestly, the flavor helped justify it... at least a teeny bit. Later in the evening, we returned just for drinks and dessert, which were both solid. The espresso martinis were especially good (though at nearly $20 each, expectations are high), and we had more than a few. The only real downside was service during our second visit. When we let the staff know we weren't ordering food since we had already eaten earlier, our silverware and napkins were quickly cleared and our water glasses were taken as well. I had to request that water glasses stay and be filled, which felt awkward and honestly a bit dismissive, especially given the cost of the drinks we were ordering (4 of us). Overall, excellent food and drinks, but the service inconsistency took away from the experience. With more attentive hospitality, this would easily be a 5-star spot.
