We finally tried the Borgata Buffet and honestly I do not understand some of the bad reviews. Yes it is a casino buffet so the price is higher at around 43 per person, but there are definitely ways to get it comped or discounted, and for the quality you are getting it actually feels worth it. The variety is great and everything we tried tasted fresh and well made. Nothing felt like it had been sitting too long and the staff was constantly maintaining the stations. The service really stood out. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and very attentive without being overbearing. The staff working the buffet line were also all really nice and genuinely seemed happy to be there which makes such a difference. Food wise there were a lot of standouts. The chargrilled steak had a really nice flavor and the prime rib was super tender and juicy. The pastas were cooked perfectly and the sauces were light, bright, and flavorful instead of heavy. The mac and cheese is an absolute must. They use big shell noodles with a creamy cheese sauce and toasted breadcrumbs on top which gives it great texture. The collard greens were surprisingly one of our favorite things and we went back for seconds. So much flavor. The spiced shrimp is a hidden gem and definitely something we grabbed multiple times. The pizza was also surprisingly good. We tried the mushroom and spinach and it honestly tasted like something you would get from a really solid pizza spot not a buffet. The only thing I would say is the chicken parm is hit or miss depending on how fresh it is. If it has been sitting it can get a little soggy so I would try to grab it when a fresh tray comes out. Pro tip leave room for dessert. The dessert section is incredible. The gelato was rich and creamy especially the chocolate. The croissant cinnamon roll hybrid was flaky on the outside with a soft gooey center and the cookies and cream cheesecake was rich without being too heavy. I also really liked how the seating is set up. You can sit on either side of the buffet and choose between booths or tables which makes it feel a little less chaotic. Very Disappointing -- Borgata Has Really Gone Downhill I visited the Borgata buffet over Labor Day weekend with my family of four, and the total was close to $200. Unfortunately, for that price, I honestly felt that we would have been better off going to a regular restaurant with better tasting food. I hadn't been to the Borgata buffet in a very long time. I remember when it was around $30-$35 per person, and I had much better memories of the food. That's why it was especially disappointing to see how much it seems to have declined. There were a few highlights. The gelato was very good, and I will say the dessert section seems to have improved. The salmon was probably the standout savory dish. The platanos, waffles, pork ribs, and meatballs were also good. The General Tso's chicken was decent as well. Unfortunately, those positives were outweighed by the negatives. There wasn't even much of a fruit selection anymore, which was surprising for a buffet at this price point. The sushi rice wasn't prepared properly all mushy and the shrimp cocktail didn't taste particularly fresh. The seasoned shrimp was also far too salty. The seafood section was particularly disappointing. The clams were so salty that they were essentially inedible, and whoever seasoned the mussels simply did not get the seasoning right. These are not particularly complicated dishes, so it was surprising to see them executed so poorly. The fried foods were also hit or miss. Some batches looked cooked on the outside, but the shrimp inside were still undercooked and appeared almost raw. Some of the vegetables, such as the zucchini, were noticeably undercooked as well. The steak was very tough, while the prime rib was extremely bland and lacked flavor. The Chinese section, aside from the General Tso's chicken, was particularly disappointing. The pasta dishes, including the macaroni and cheese over cooked and tasteless w alfredo being was oddly sweet was extremely underwhelming. And honestly, this is what surprised me most about the entire experience. It's not as though the buffet has an enormous number of dishes that would make it impossible to maintain quality. The selection is relatively limited, and many of the individual dishes are not particularly difficult to prepare. Yet so many of them were either poorly seasoned, undercooked, overcooked, bland, or simply not executed well. When you have a smaller selection of dishes, you would expect those dishes to be done really well. Instead, it felt like there were only a handful of things that were actually worth eating. That is what made the experience so surprising and disappointing. Overall, a large majority of the food was simply not good enough to justify going to a buffet. At nearly $200 for four people, I expected significantly better quality and consistency. What made this experience even more disappointing is that this was my parents' first time staying at the Borgata. Unfortunately, the food experience was poor enough that it actually made them less interested in wanting to stay at the hotel again. When you're spending money on a casino resort, the dining experience is part of the overall experience--and a bad meal can definitely affect whether you want to return. Borgata used to be one of my favorite places to go in Atlantic City, so I really wanted to like it. But after this visit, I'm not sure I would choose it over newer properties like Hard Rock or Ocean Casino Resort. Those properties may be newer, but at this point, I think I'd rather spend my money there than return to this buffet. A pretty solid buffet considering there aren't many buffet options in the area! Sushi - dry and tasted fake Seafood - all of their fishes were the highlight of the offerings! The carving station had a salmon larger than I've ever seen too. Also appreciate that they offer a spiced version of the cocktail shrimp. Meats - prime rib was very dry and overcooked but the grilled steak has really great taste Everything else is pretty standard for a buffet. Well, if you read my previous review about the Borgata this is an update. We decided to try it again and were very pleasantly surprised. We booked a room in the MGM Tower. It was named the Restore room as it had an air purifier and small machine that made your room smell so clean. It was so incredibly clean, comfortable and quiet. The resort was super crowded but it did not compromise the service as everyone was so helpful and courteous. I would highly recommend the Borgata MGM Tower. As a side note, we did pay for this room vs the first time was a comp , not sure if that made the difference but either way a great stay! We definitely will be back!! read more

Honest Review In town for a fishing trip and stayed at Borgata. We decided to try the buffet for dinner, thinking it would be something like the buffets in Las Vegas. I was VERY wrong. In my opinion, this buffet is no better than a strip-mall Chinese buffet--and at $45 per person, it was seriously overpriced for the quality of food. Coming here on a Monday for a brunch buffet which was really awesome because it's only $24.99 per person and I think that is a steal. . I really like their omelette station and I enjoyed making a egg white with vegetarian and it was really healthy and I do love how I didn't add any cheese. Some of the veggies that it contains is spinach mushrooms onions bell pepper and I did use egg white. The lady was very impressive making six omelets at a time and she was taking everyone's order correctly and everyone was patiently waiting. . I also enjoy the soup selection they had a mushroom of cream and they also had a chicken noodle soup and they were both delicious and comforting for a cold day. . They also have your breakfast items like smoked salmon and they have french toast and pancakes as well as your breakfast potatoes crispy bacon and sausage and eggs. . They also have a Carving Station where they have flank steak and even ham. . They also had a fruit bar with lots of fruits and they have fresh strawberries to watermelon and melons and bananas too. I also like how they have cereal too. They also got your grits Cream of Wheat and oatmeal too. . Overall this Buffet is one of my new favorite ones in Atlantic City and I can't wait to come back when I come visit. We all agreed: The quality has gone down. That particular night they offered 1/2 price for any card holder. It was a zoo!!! Had to wait 1:30 on a line, then we had to wait another 1/2 hour, because we were a party of six. I think we got $40 off. I would have paid the 40, just to avoid waiting two hours. We came for brunch on a Friday at 10AM. It wasn't very crowded but became crowded as the morning went on. We were led to a booth and we immediately headed to the buffet. The food area was kept clean and there were many food choices. There was a fresh fruit area. They had shrimp cocktail. They had an omelette station where there was always a long line. There was a carving station for flank steak and glazed ham. There was the usual breakfast food like scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, oatmeal, grits, cream of wheat, bagels (bagels had cream cheese, lox, capers, tomatoes that you can build yourself). There were also usual lunch food like baked salmon, pork chops, fried rice. They also had a dessert station that included gelato. For $25 it's not a bad deal for all that food. Is the quality the best? It's hit and miss for some of the food. The smoked salmon eggs benedict was dried out. They also had baked salmon was nice and moist. The flank steak was surprisingly good. Pastries, salads, soups, nachos, sandwiches, ham, Chinese, anything you could want was on the buffet. Our server was ON TOP of her game. Made sure I had hot, fresh coffee all morning long. We've been known to periodically splurge on dinner. (Check out "Lazy Betty" or "Bacchanalia" if you're in Atlanta.) I resent paying inflated prices for food that's likely mediocre. But why stew over something you have no control over when choices are limited? Weighing our options, we decided upon the buffet at the Borgata. We read that the mussels are good, which swayed our decision. $90 for the two of us -- not worth it -- but okay. As the fellow on line ahead of us said, "you're bound to find something you like." And he's right. Mussels in spicy red sauce aren't bad. The steamed clams, not so much. I tried a little-of-this and a little-of-that. Nothing knocked my socks off. T was impressed with his prime rib. I tasted his chicken. How could it look so crisp, but taste mushy? Desserts are another story. Pretty good! They have a brownie tart that I topped with vanilla gelato. T's favorite was bread pudding. Four stars is generous, but not the worst meal I've had. What I DID like -- which had nothing to do with dinner -- is the non-smoking section in Borgata's casino. Casino buffets are infamous so we had to try one out in Atlantic City. Unfortunately Borgata Buffet did not reach our expectations. The rest of Borgata is great but the food was pretty mid. The good thing was that there was absolutely no line to the place. In the beginning, the food seemed to be pretty good, but one plate in and you'll realize that nothing there was made well or made you want to get a second serving. I did appreciate the variety they had though. Usually I would really want to eat a lot of things at the buffet but I was incredibly okay leaving without feeling full. What I would recommend: - Boiled clams were okay although some were not cooked all the way. - Plantains were also okay. What I would not recommend: - Chocolate ice cream was pretty artificial tasting. - The prime rib was tough, not tender, and lukewarm. - The king salmon was pretty dry and the way they cut it for you disseminated all the juices that could be on there. Parking for the Borgata was $5 only. Went for brunch on a Sunday, about $31pp. Until 2 pm. Our large group decided to split up as advised, faster to get tables. We ended up in the same area anyway. There was a variety of breakfast and lunch items, sides,carving station, omelet station, desserts and more. If able to wait, get food after they replenish the serving plates bec. some food were kind of dry. The prime rib was good, best with the au jus and horseradish. Satisfied with the savory food I chose to try. For dessert, I used to want to taste each one but this time, I picked 3 and only liked the chocolate mousse and mango gelato. Had a great experience today for lunch at the borgata buffet. I personally prefer the brunch better that I've been too a million times. I love the combo of breakfast and lunch foods. But today we did the lunch, it was $55 for 2 people which I feel is a great deal for a large variety of foods and desserts and beverages included. My personal favorite was the Mac & cheese, general tso chicken & the spring rolls. The buffet had a wide range of lunch foods such as Chinese/asian cuisine, salad bar, soups, pizza, fish options, many meat selections (chicken, brisket, steak), Mexican cuisine, etc. the dessert station has phenomenal choices such as gelato, puddings, cakes, cookies and more. Look, I love a good buffet. The Borgata Buffet used to be the crown jewel of AC buffets, sad to think that it might still be. The glory days here have long since faded. Service is still very good with friendly and efficient service and buspersons, but the quality of the food has taken a nose dive as has the selection. Nearly everything was overcooked and flavorless. The hot line with chock-full of filler carbs, and crowds of plate-wielding patrons surrounded empty serving stations of the high-ticket menacingly waiting to pounce on the poor employee bringing out the next plate of mussels. Wow! This is THE BEST buffet I've ever been too, and I've been to a-lot of them! Stations among stations of top notch food! It was nothing short of amazing! The "stars" for me were the catfish, stuffed flounder, risotto, chicken dumplings, and brownies! The gelato was decadent too! I looked for, and had, my favorites, but missed many stations. I love the Borgata buffet!!! Every time my friends and I come to AC we make sure we hit the buffet. Check the hours before you go though because the brunch is only on Saturday and Sunday which we didn't know so we went on a Friday and were disappointed because we wanted their amazing home fries and omelets! Instead we got lunch which was just as good! My favorite food items here are the home fries like I mentioned, the spring rolls, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, mac n cheese, chicken nuggets, and much more. And people started getting in line shortly after 1100. Gold and platinum members have much shorter lines. Price: $44.99 & & 25.99 for Gold members Service: fast and efficient from lead staff to wait staff, plates were cleaned out pretty quickly. Foods: has a good variety, many protein, seafood, and vegetables options. Overall taste is not bad. Make sure you try the Thanksgiving pizza , it was interesting and delicious. Atmosphere: it was super crowded on Thanksgiving day and pretty loud , with people waiting to be seated just standing around inside the buffet area. When I visited AC with my parents I was trying to find a buffet we could go to since we love casino buffets. The Borgata is located on the other side of AC, we stayed at Bally's on the Boardwalk so we took an Uber over for dinner. Dinner is $38.99 a person. Their food offerings include: sushi, seafood paella, pasta, carving station, seafood, Chinese food, and a bunch of cakes, pastries, and ice cream for dessert. The food was just mediocre, nothing really stood out in our minds. We've been to a lot of casino buffets especially in Las Vegas and this one didn't really wow us.
