On a recent visit to AC I stayed at the Tropicana. There was lots to do and see on the property. From night clubs to eateries. They even had spa services. Really enjoyed the location and rate. The only downside was that the room wasn't cleaned thoroughly. There were items left in the fridge and in the bathroom. The upside, once we notified the front desk, the issues were resolved. For starters we are still checked-in and still have one more night stay... (pray for us). However, if you want to stay here be prepared to be nicked and dimed to death! First, customers service was incredibly slow. The "use the QR code to check-in" method which after putting my name and info in told me to "continue to the front desk for check-in" what's the point of the QR if you still have to go to the desk. What a waste of time! Second, we reserved a King bed room. The concierge said our reservation was for an "as available" so they tried to put us into a 2 queen room. Had to pull up my reservation on the email to prove to her that's what we booked. Thanks for being difficult Doris. Third, be sure to have all of your toiletries! We forgot toothpaste and went to ask concierge if they had a travel size like some hotels/resorts provide for free. Nope, was told we had to buy it at the store. $3.75 for the travel size tooth paste. Great. Thanks. Fourth, we do not drink and just wanted a couple bottles of water. $5 for Dasani at the gift shop and $3.75 for a 12oz can in the vending machine. Wild prices. Cheaper at a pro football game. Finally... and I can't stress this enough. Why the hell do I have to pay to use a luggage cart? If you want to have a white glove style resort maybe provide freaking toothpaste and have a clean check-in service. Trying to charge us to use a luggage cart or force us to use bell service is crazy. I can see why Atlantic City has died. Good riddance to this kind of junk. Absolutely worthless. Customer service and good business practices are dead! read more

Look, this is an older hotel. We stayed at Ocean the night before and it was a completely different experience, but it also costs twice the price to stay there. I did not go into this stay with high expectations and it was completely fine. Many areas of this hotel need a facelift, but it gets the job done for a night out in AC. We were originally put in a smoking room and they were able to move us without a hassle which I appreciated. The rooms are a bit dark and dingy. Windows are small, so they don't get a ton of light. The beds are pretty comfy though which is important! The bathroom in our room was also renovated which was nice. The hotel itself has a ton of things to do, so many restaurants and a huge casino. We ate at Il Verde and Chickie and Petes and both were really solid. If you are seeing a show at Boardwalk Hall it's a nice and easy walk. Perfectly fine for a quick stay in AC. read more

Arrived on a casino plane from FLL. Hotel room is average but has a bathtub. Beds were very old. But you're here to gamble, right? Tropicana has the only Live Poker Room on the strip. Also offers roulette, blackjack, pai-gow, baccarat, and basic table card games. $15 or $25 Craps. The slot machines were the usual suspects, except for Double Joker Poker. I doubled my money on Craps but lost it all on slots. Icy cold slot machines. There are also 15 restaurants all inside this one casino and they offer a pub crawl to get your passport stamped! Fun. The shopping mall is kid-friendly with arcades and candy stores; but also diverse. I immediately bought a new purse. You can exit the Tropicana directly onto the ocean beach or ride a trolley to the Boardwalk. The locals were so friendly to tell me about fireworks over the ocean and where the best bars are. It's a serviceable hotel that's def staring to show its age. We booked a Classic Room in the North Tower over Labor Day weekend (room 841). We were expecting a no frills budget room, but even with that, there were a few basics that were missed. For starters, the door was sticky, the room had a musk of cigarette smoke even though it was non smoking. There was just a single chair in the room as well. It was clean though, so I guess that's something. I know they have recently renovated the Solana Tower as well. Also of note, this end of the boardwalk is MUCH more run down and empty than the North end, so bear that in mind when booking. read more

This review is solely from my perspective of the businesses and casinos. I have not stayed overnight here unfortunately due to the high number of people that were here during the weekend I arrived. This is one of those casinos in AC that brings the energy. All casinos are the same here but Tropicana for some reason seems to bring in a fun crowd, people with less disputes and better energy overall. This weekend I lost money but I had so much fun that I didn't think too much about the loss. Tropicana has great food, a great view of the beach, perfectly centered on the boardwalk. Even if you're not gambling this is the perfect place to be entertained with your family or on a solo trip. I recommend looking around the entire place because I've been here many times but this time around was my first time really exploring. I enjoyed their Hagen daz, they have a cool sandwich shop around there too and lastly we went to a comedy show in the building. The comedy show was $50 and it was 1/10 but it was so bad that it became a staple memory for us so we are still thankful that we sat through those "jokes". It was still laughable which is the point. 10/10 casino experience. Highly recommend the Tropicana if you're in the area. read more

We decided to book an overnight stay for dinner (PF Chang's) and a show (The Hook). We stayed in the Solana tower, our rooms looked newly renovated. I had a beautiful view and all new furniture. The room was comfortable, although I wanted it a little cooler but it would not budge. We went to the in-house club, I wasn't a fan, too many teenagers and the DJ was not great. The staff were great and the amenities, stores, restaurants and bars made it a nice getaway. Also, we were right on the boardwalk and were able to walk right over to the beach. read more

The rooms are worse for wear but I really like the "Old Havana" shopping and restaurant pavilion. The atmosphere is well done and easily navigable without the hinterland location and over the top glitz at Borgata. Gambling isn't my thing but for a quick getaway featuring a nice meal and a quality show or two, the Trop still rates. Four solid stars. read more

I will say that I love that Tropicana has everything inside it's a casino, hotel, has restaurants, clubs, arcade, imax theatre etc.... We stayed in the new tower the Solana Tower & I loved it. It was very clean. HOWEVER, #1 they have no one that can help we had mad luggage (totally our fault) we know for next time we have to consolidate. That's not a hotel you can be have mad luggage with. The concierge was useless we wanted to take the luggage cart they said no a concierge has to do it. NO concierge in sight. We had to lug it ourselves. Great location in center of Atlantic City. They have valet and self-parking. We did valet. I do not recommend. When we picked up our car is was close to an hour. Absolutely insane. This entire complex is a maze. We were trying to find a restaurant and had to ask 3 different people. Ended up having to go to one elevator to get to the 5th floor of another tower then to another elevator in a completely different tower to go down to that lobby and then through several hallways. You will get lost. Check in gets 10 stars! Super convenient and quick. You aren't waiting. Service was great. We were put in the Salona Tower. There's 2 elevators. That's it. Waited in line for 20 minutes just to get on the elevator to go up to our room. Seems like there's a bank of 4 but only 2 are working. This was super inconvenient. Room itself was good. Spacious and all the things you need. Seems as if it has been updated. There's a huge bathroom with a tub, one sink and toilet. The bed was comfy and a king. There's a TV, chair, and small table. I think there was a fridge but not sure as we didn't use. There was an ironing board as well. Safe too. Overall good accommodations. Nothing fancy. Just what you need. read more

The reviews for the Tropicana are certainly a mixed can of worms. Our experience for our 2 night stay was positive. We had rooms in the South tower on the 20th floor. Due to a reservation mix-up we had different rooms for both nights. We got lucky, because both the rooms we were given were huge and had ocean and bay views. We were at a conference with other friends and everyone else's rooms were half the size of ours. The Tropicana is vast and a city unto itself. There are several towers (South, North, Havana, and Chelsea). The Chelsea appears to be the older side of the building and a maze to get to. My recommendation is if you can get a room in the South Tower on an upper level, you shouldn't be disappointed. There are many restaurants, eateries, and bars all within the Tropicana. We actually had all our meals right on the property. There was plenty of entertainment from live bands to dueling pianos. All within the walls of the Tropicana. read more

Chose this place to stay for two nights to celebrate my Auntie's 90th birthday. Online booking was easy. Even when I cancelled and rebooted at a cheaper rate. Check in was easy breezy. We arrived early and was willing to pay the early check in fee but, it was waived when I let them know it was my Aunts actual 90th birthday on the day we arrived. We stayed on the Havana side on the 52nd floor. When we entered our room was clean. The bed was not most comfortable but, because we were only staying two nights it wasn't so bad. Its a little difficult to reach front desk if you need anything it was a wait. From our room you could see the sand and water. Downfall was i think the power cut off in the middle of the night because our room was muggy and stuffy when we woke up and the items that we left in the fridge were warm. Other than that the stay was not bad. The hotel had so much in it. For our short stay it was impossible to see and enjoy it all. You really didn't have to leave the hotel at all. This is not the place if you wanna be near the outlet but, it was fine for me. read more

We came a few days before the official Labor Day weekend. We booked the Solana Tower because it was the newly renovated tower. There's nothing special about the room. Only there's no carpet. We were supposed to have partial ocean view. Look at the photos. Can you find the ocean? Also it was 2 people but only 1 chair. To keep it simple this place is the Carnival Cruise of the Broad walk. One day I walked into my room in the afternoon to get something and it smelled like weed - of course it's coming from another room. The weekend it got packed with families, couples, and people that came to gamble. My friend stayed at the Havana tower and her room was MUCH NICER!!! With an actual view! Also don't expect to have your room cleaned, fresh towels, more hand soap, extra toilet paper, etc. we were there 5 days and 4 nights and NO ONE CAME. No one ever comes. You have to run the housekeeper down. When I ran up to her, her face already looked annoyed. All we wanted were clean towels. Customer service is nonexistent. We kept all our garbage in separate bags. Thankfully we are neat. I will say everything we ate was great! We will go back to AC but stay at Hard Rock or Oceans. read more

Elevator was so slow to 19th floor of Chelsea Tower that there was a long line going down the hall and around the corner on the 5 th floor transfer area. This place is great! Friendly and helpful staff. Got an upgraded room for the fraction of the cost. The adult-only pool is worth checking out. The pool bartender has a nice pour for mixed drinks. Parts of the hotel smells smokey but that is to be expected as there is a smoking casino inside. The room upgrade in the Havana is spacious. We Canceled our reservations for another property in a couple of weeks to come back. So many restaurants to try. So much entertainment...no need to leave! read more

I know i made a reservation for the south tower, somehow when checking in at the self serve kiosk, i ended up in the solara tower which is renamed from the west tower. The room was redone but had a college dorm room feel with a king size bed. The elevators were so slow. It was just one Friday night so i didnt care too much. Compared to other casinos, unfortunately they are missing the mark. The only good thing was the price for a Friday night, but that comes with its own problems. I've stayed at The Tropicana AC multiple times. And although Tropicana is a bit far from the main boardwalk, it makes up for it with a variety of things-to-do. The Tropicana has multiple restaurants and bars with music and pregame spots like Wet Willie's for a quick to-go drink. Perhaps best of all, it has many solid nightclubs with music ranging from top current pop hits to 70s throwbacks. A little bird told me it's very easy to pickup singles at these spots. Price wise, you can often catch bargains for rooms. They are generally clean and comfy if you pay a bit more and choose a renovated tower - Solana Tower in the west wing or the South Tower. On the otherhand, drinks tend to be a bit pricey at the bars and pop clubs. So, I highly recommend pregaming in your room before you head out. Overall, Tropicana is on the top of my list of AC spots when I'm not interested in cruising the boardwalk. read more

Absolutely disgusting stairwells in the parking garage. Pools close at 6pm which is annoying when trying to fit it in after daytime activities. Rooms were clean but room service was not great, though i got a $50 food and beverage credit for the inconvenience. The number one issue I had with this hotel was accessibility and ADA compliance. We requested the havana tower, which is much closer to the parking garage. Instead we were given the chelsea tower clear on the opposite side of the hotel from the parking garage. As a result, my disabled partner and I had to carry our several bags 10 minutes one way to our rooms. There are parking spaces outside of chelsea but they are not owned by the hotel and rely on regular street parking prices. Parking is $15 every time you take the car out, they want you to stay in the hotel. If you never leave the hotel you'll only pay the $15. You can get a voucher from the casino for signing up for rewards that gives you free parking for one exit. read more

Why and why are you not told at check in considering I waited 1 hour for my room again do better I have worked to hard to throw money at a hotel aside from coming from NY across bridges and tolls and gas!!! I come Tropicana to eat drink and play. I feel very comfortable as safe while on the casino floor. They have so many excellent Restaurants to choose from PF Changs, Carmines, Cuba Libre and Wild honey just to name a few. They also have a IMAX theater for all your movie needs. Many retail shops to spend some money. Many sweet treats spot located throughout the Casino the oldies but Goodie and my fav is Mrs Fields. For some frozen drinks Wet Willie's. read more

This review will focus mostly on the other amenities portion of the resort. This resort, unlike some of its sister locations, has so much more to do and offer. That is the whole reason I had come here in the first place, I wanted choices of things to do and places to eat. Tropicana is an immense resort complex, quite possibly the longest one on the boardwalk...at least at this end. Typical casino features on the floor, but I bypassed this and made my way towards the entertainment portions. Which includes the shops and restaurants. They have a good variety of places to dine at different price points which some locations are lacking in. They also have a great variety of places to shop. The theming in here hits the mark and continues into all areas. Maybe, if I ever come back to AC, this might be where I stay. read more

I booked a one night for me and my wife overnight into valentines day. We stayed at the South Tower. It was not a good stay. It was one of those trips where almost everything was just awful. I do not understand the positive reviews of this place. I booked a penthouse sweet. It wasn't awfully expensive at $350 as the photos online looked like a nice room. When we got there, the check in process was ridiculous. There was no staff at the counter, it was closed. So we had to do kiosk check in. It couldn't find our reservation. I spent 10 minutes doing it over and over again until someone walked by and said "oh, that one is not working, try a different one". Next one worked, and I was hit was an additional $189!!! Not wanting to look like a cheapo on valentines day i just paid it. No idea what it was even for. We walked like 1mile (literally) across the entire complex, through the casino, over the sky bridge to our hotel. Elevators are so old and dingy. We get to the room and its a dump. I'm supposed to walk a mile back to an empty desk to complain? It was Motel6 quality at best. Couldn't wait to go eat. The bright spot of the trip was the food at Chickie and Petes, that was good. Time to gamble....maybe not....the casino was DISGUSTING. There were cigarette trays filled butts everywhere, i don't even think they have a non-smoking section anymore, and if they did, the exhaust fans must not be working because the whole place smells like cigarettes. Empty bottles, cups, trash, all around the machines. And the tables... just as bad. And forget about getting a drink, in 4 hours of play time, we saw servers twice. What a joke. And it was not overly busy, only about half the tables were open. Went back to our room, slept fine, except for the thermostats don't work so you better not care about what temperature you sleep in at night. Checkout day, we had breakfast at Casa Tequila. Best breakfast in AC for sure. Check it out, you'll love it. Time to leave the room and we have 30 minutes before check out. And guess what - 3 of the 4 the elevators aren't working. We waited 20 minutes and since everyone is trying to leave, the one elevator is all jammed up. I'll be damned if they are going to hit me with a late fee so there I go running down 20 flights of a urine smelling, graffiti filled stairwell (don't take your kids in there unless you want to explain to them what the yellow puddles are and what all the sharpie drawn words and pictures mean) and back across the whole complex to check out in time. To add insult to injury, they hit me with a #30 PARKING FEE!!!! I'll obviously never return here. The Tropicana and Atlantic City as a whole is now a dilapidated trash filled dumpster of a town with hookers and empty lots and blown out buildings everywhere. read more

We had a really amazing time we had gone on a cruise for our 25th anniversary of New York and I surprise my husband was a trip for three days to Atlantic City staying at the Tropicana. Everything was exceptional with a little scary moment the first night we were there had a fire alarm go off, but eventually after a couple hours was all fixed up in the straightened out and went back to gambling made money. Everybody was friendly and kind and helpful because he's disabled and we had this fantastic room in the salt tower overlooking the ocean. Ok. I'm updating my review. I had to change to a third room because of the broken AC in the first two rooms. Maintenance was a no show twice. The front desk moved me to the South Tower. It is soooo much nicer! It's cleaner! And the AC works wonderfully! They also gave me $50 to put towards a restaurant meal. And they are refunding one night of my stay. I'm impressed. Though I'm keeping it at a 3 star because of my first two miserable sleepless nights in 81 degree rooms. Though I'm happy they took the initiative to offer the $50 restaurant credit and one night refund without me asking for it. Still stay away from the Chelsea tower!!! South Tower is nice! read more

1/5 -- A FILTHY, UNSAFE DISGRACE TO THE CAESARS BRAND I honestly cannot believe Caesars is willing to put its name anywhere near this property. Tropicana Atlantic City was an absolute disaster from the moment we arrived, and this was easily one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. We paid for a supposedly NEWLY RENOVATED SOLANA ROOM. Our "newly renovated" room stayed around 80 DEGREES because the air conditioning did not work. We contacted the front desk MULTIPLE TIMES. We were repeatedly told maintenance would come up. Nobody came. We asked to switch rooms. They REFUSED. So apparently Tropicana thinks it is acceptable to charge guests for a hotel room that is nearly 80 degrees, refuse to move them, promise maintenance is coming, and then simply never send anyone. The rest of the property was just as pathetic. Two of the four elevators were broken, so the remaining elevators were constantly jammed with people. At one point the elevator situation became so bad that WE HAD TO WALK DOWN 49 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS. And that is where this went from being a terrible hotel to somewhere I genuinely questioned the cleanliness and safety of the property. As we reached the lower floors, the stairwells were disgusting. We saw USED NEEDLES and conditions that made it appear as though people had been sleeping or using drugs in the stairwell. How does a major Atlantic City casino hotel allow an emergency stairwell--the exact place guests may HAVE TO USE when the elevators aren't functioning--to get into that condition? Think about that: broken elevators forced hotel guests into a stairwell where we encountered used needles. That alone should be completely unacceptable to hotel management and Caesars. Need ice? Good luck. The ice machines we tried on multiple floors DIDN'T WORK either. Then there was parking. I arrived in a dually pickup and was informed that I couldn't park my truck on the property. No reasonable accommodation. No attempt to help make up for the inconvenience. Basically, "not our problem." That phrase pretty much sums up the attitude of this entire property: NOT OUR PROBLEM. No AC? Not their problem. 80-degree room? Not their problem. Maintenance never shows? Not their problem. Want another room? No. Broken elevators? Deal with it. Walk down 49 floors? Apparently that's acceptable. Used needles in the stairwell? Apparently guests get to discover those themselves. Ice machines don't work? Add it to the list. Can't park your vehicle? Figure it out yourself. The entire hotel felt dirty, neglected, overcrowded and poorly managed. The staff we dealt with were rude and dismissive, and there seemed to be absolutely ZERO urgency to correct legitimate guest complaints. Calling a room "newly renovated" means absolutely nothing when you can't even provide functioning AIR CONDITIONING. This isn't some bargain roadside motel. This is a massive Atlantic City casino resort carrying the Tropicana and Caesars names. Guests should not have to repeatedly beg the front desk for basic necessities like a functioning AC, working elevators, ice, cleanliness and a safe way to get out of their hotel tower. CAESARS SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED. Tropicana doesn't just fall below the standard I expect from Caesars--it makes the Caesars brand itself look bad. If you're considering staying here, my recommendation is simple: STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE. There are too many hotels and casinos in Atlantic City to spend your money at a property that treats paying guests this poorly. I wouldn't stay at Tropicana Atlantic City again if the room were free. read more

Had a great time at the Trop! I've been to Atlantic City a ton over the years, but never stayed at the Trop until recently. The basically have everything you could need in one spot - multiple restaurants, clubs, restaurants, shops, a spa. The rooms were a bit small, but were clean. I went to multiple restaurants during my stay- Cuba Libre, PF Changs, Chickie & Pete's to make a few. I love the variety of cuisines. The casino floor is clean and has a lot Of slot and table options. Drink service is always pretty quick too. Great experience overall!! read more

I have been in casinos all over the country and can always count on them to have a clean bathroom, but not at the Tropicana. They are the dirtiest bathrooms that I have ever seen in a casino. Lots of places to go, dinner, shopping but the casino towers smell like mold. I had water in the wall of my room. I was told they dont fix but patch so the rooms can continue to rent. Havana is full of mold. I was offered a $30 discount which was then charged back to my credit card. The front desk didn't really care to want to take with me about it. read more

After traveling to Atlantic City and attending the performance, I was extremely disappointed to discover that this was a separate touring stage production, not the actual televised show with Drew Carey. My biggest concern is not simply that the show was different from what I expected. The distinction between the REAL LIVE television program and the live stage production was not made sufficiently clear when the tickets were being promoted and sold to me. I strongly recommend that anyone considering purchasing tickets read all of the information very carefully and understand exactly what they are buying before paying for tickets or making travel arrangements. In my opinion, the advertising and presentation created an impression that was very different from the experience we ultimately received. BUYER BEWARE: Do your research first. Read the negative reviews. Make absolutely certain you understand that "The Price Is Right Live" is a touring stage show and is NOT the Drew Carey television show. We stayed at the Tropicana Hotel AC from July 21 - 25 and it was the worst hotel experience I've had in years. Two days with NO hot water and my calls were just bounced between the front desk and facilities. I was on hold for an hour and finally gave up. The Chelsea Tower looks like it hasn't been renovated in decades and the smell of pot was everywhere. My recommendation - if you must visit Atlantic City pick any other hotel for your stay. Update - I called Caesars customer care, waited on line for at least a half hour, only to receive a $63 reimbursement for two days of cold showers. Still a one star review in my book. read more

I didn't book a room here. However, this place is vibrant with lots of tourist activity, bars and restaurants. I'd definitely drop in again to try another restaurant out. Went to PF CHANGS read more
