I didn't think it would take me 3 hours to mold clay but I realized how much of a beginner I was real quick! Zane was our instructor and he was great. The vibe of the class is really chill and relaxed. You are able to grab food and drinks downstairs as you please. I made a dog bowl and was able to paint it afterwards. I signed up for a class to make a trio of mini pumpkins. The instructor was very nice and helpful. During the session, I made my three pumpkins and painted them. I left them to dry and then be fired/glazed. The only downside was I received an email saying my pumpkin was ready to be picked up and it wasn't. So I had to make another trip back to pick up my finished pieces. They turned out nice and I'd do another class. The coffee shop is nice - open and airy with plenty of seating and gifts to purchase. I ordered a spicy/cayenne pumpkin pie latte (see a theme?) and enjoyed it. I would definitely come back if in the area for another latte. Overall, a fun place with a chill atmosphere. read more

The drinks are incredible, the pastries are even better, and the beginner pottery wheel class left my mom and I with wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. The parking is bad, but the street parking nearby is perfectly acceptable. The staff is incredibly friendly and seem to know their regulars. I wish they would put some salt on their pretzels and bring back their Ube matcha latte! The first time I had the matcha Ube latte, I told everyone I knew that it was the most delicious drink I had ever had at any coffee shop. The drinks are all served in adorable hand made mugs, which adds to the charm. The baristas seem to default to cold drinks to go, so be sure to specify if you want a hot drink in a cute mug! Really awful experience for the beginner class. I would've thought it was a college level course by the way the instructor acted. Wanted to try wheel throwing since I was a kid & the instructor totally killed that. He was constantly making comments about me and another participant - to the entire class. He was legitimately angry that we weren't good at it. "I JUST DONT KNOW WHAT IT'LL TAKE FOR YOU TO USE YOUR ELBOWS!!!!" Ok sir, me neither??? It's my first time???? Berating me isn't going to make it better. He really shouldn't be teaching beginners but I'll give 2 stars, because maybe he was having a bad day? read more

Two coworkers and I took a beginner's wheel class as a holiday outing and we all had a great time. Our class was full (~10 people), but it didn't feel like too many. firstly- I love that they are open late. It's sometimes hard to find good coffee past 2pm, so this is convenient! secondly- there's parking out front; anytime I don't have to street park going to a new place is a good day! PIP is a great new addition to the neighborhood. While it's a small coffee shop, it packs a punch! The interior is colorful and bright, the music is fun and obviously the coffee is delicious! I tried the almond croissant and it was perfectly flavored and very flaky. PIP has some items for sale from local vendors, like jewelry, soaps and beautiful pottery. PIP is a really cute place to have coffee and hang out. The drinks are good and the staff are super nice. I signed up for the beginner ceramic class, I've never taken ceramics before or made anything before so I was excited to try something new! Our instructor was great! She went over everything very thoroughly and helped a lot of us in the class when we were struggling to center on the wheel. She helped me so I was able to make two pieces before class was over. I was so excited to see what my pieces would look like after they were glazed and fired. So I was pretty disappointed when I saw the finished product. The bottom portion of my pieces weren't glazed and are pretty rough feeling and kind of sharp. My friend made this bowl and it barely even has color on it. I'm not sure if there was a reason they were done this way but it would be nice to know before hand what to expect our pieces to look like in the end. I don't know a lot of pottery places in Phoenix and PIP is cool place, I'm just not sure if I would sign up for another class. read more

We had a fantastic time at Pip. No one in our party had ever thrown pottery before, so we were nervous if we'd be any good. The two instructors were amazing in their explanations and hands on help when we needed it. They also have a cafe so you can enjoy a coffee or alcoholic beverage during your pottery session. I made two pieces and chose one to be glazed white and the other light blue. You can pick up your finished pieces three weeks after your class. I love every single thing about PIP. Every. Single. Thing. Delicious coffee and tea drinks? Check. Alcohol? Check. Yummy food? Check. A place where I can be artsy and weird while supporting local artists? Check. And the best part of all for me personally (this is a very niche thing) is that it's right next door to my dogs' daycare. We love convenience. I often stop in on the mornings that I drop my dogs off to pick up a quick coffee on my way to work, and my personal favorites are the cortado or the green gardens. Service is always quick and super friendly, and I love perusing through the little mercantile area while my coffee is being made. There are always precious weird things in there that speak to my weird heart (mostly the butt planters, to be honest). I've also taken a handful of classes here and they've always been great. I love that this area now has an artsy space, and I have more opportunities to play on the wheel! I also really appreciate that it's really reasonably priced, and that every class also builds in firing and glazing as well. Would highly recommend PIP for anyone who is just dipping their toes into ceramics, anyone experienced who's looking for a studio, or anyone who's just looking for a great cup of coffee. Inside is a chill vibe and people often come in with their laptops to work on things or even just come for a date. While driving through the neighborhood yesterday, I spotted this new coffee shop. Since I've made it a priority to try different coffee shops, I figured I add PIP Coffee+ Clay to the list. Since it was so close to my house, I figured why not go today? I was surprised by what this establishment had to offer. Not only was it a coffee shop but it was connected to a studio where they offered classes for what I believe might be clay making/ceramics. In the coffee shop, there was artwork and other goods to view and purchase. Additionally, the coffee shop had great vibes to it, from the artwork to the music playing to the kind baristas that helped me determine what drink to get. Upon my conversation with the barista, they had only been open for a week. With how mellow it is, I think this could potentially be a place I can imagine working remotely from.
