The barista was telling me about the ingredients, the syrups and milks they use and when I had my chance I interrupted and said " make this one as spicy as possible, please!!" and she knew what I meant. Without skipping a beat she pulled out the cinnamon and loaded it up all while disappointedly explaining to me that the syrup they use is actually the lesser of two spiced chai syrups offered by the manufacturer and that she was sad to see the other had gone a while ago (RIP even spicier chai latte). C'est la vie; I guess, this was still one tasty chai though. Now we're chatting about the tea and vanilla creamer I use at home, but be sure you use both a packet of Stash double chai as well as one Stash red dragon - it's the mix of both that really seal the deal for an at home chai and then use some of the vanilla oat milk creamer to get that at home chai latte-esq experience. We went our separate ways after giving up our own insights into the world of chai and her handing me the drink I was there for, but I still think about that chai latte from time to time. I spent the next hour or so prattling on with friends, commenting on about how the table fit all of us comfortably and the nice interior space of monorchid was big enough to fit us all without pushing out anyone else. Well, that and the state of world politics and how of course they would all fix everything if only ... Sorry, I dozed off a bit after they went on about fixing things from their current position as "Assistant to the Regional Manager" - or something akin to that title. We smack talked eachothers mommas, but in a respectful way. We challenged each other to feats of strength, but only with our thumbs, what are we barbarians?!? We parted ways in a draw because we will always live to fight another day while sipping a tasty Chai Latte because it's definitly better than your espresso, no the espesso is better, no my refreshing juice is better than both your espresso and chai latte. Only the most engaging debates for us quite noble thinkers at this coffee house and cafe!

Drinks and food wise, I think it's just okay personally. The matchas I have tried here tend to be on the milkier side, which isn't my personal preference, but the coffee is solid. They're a whole mission, starting with the coffee they serve - from an organization in Honduras that employs single moms to harvest the beans, and provides a safe home for children who are experiencing neglect and abuse. The young people with disabilities who are employed in this little coffee shop absolutely shine. They are a delight to have around. I especially loved meeting Josh today - he was so full of joy and really fun to talk to! They have a large, welcoming space with comfy seats, a play area for kids, and a small shop that celebrates and supports the disability community with really cute t-shirts. Generally speaking, places like this are often all heart and mission, often times at the expense of everything else, but Ri's somehow managed to do it all. The prices are incredibly reasonable, and the food and drinks are genuinely delicious. My almond croissant and tea were both amazing, and my friend really enjoyed his latte too. Logistically, midtown traffic in this area is a well-known hurdle, but the dedicated parking lot located directly behind the building makes arriving by car much easier. The mismatched furniture, abundance of indoor plants, and view of the green canopy outside provide a perfect, refreshing escape from the summer heat. The menu is varied and high-quality. I ordered a matcha latte, which was excellent and refreshing, while my friend opted for a lunch sandwich and a latte. For true coffee enthusiasts, they also sell specialty house-roasted coffee beans retail, including a Guatemalan Antigua and another select house blend. The lounge offers plenty of comfortable seating tailored for focus and productivity. While the pricing is slightly higher than your average coffee shop, the exceptional atmosphere and amenities justify the cost. My favorite is karaoke on Saturdays. It's got more of a family vibe to it than other kava bars. If you go, expect to be talked to by staff and patrons as opposed to just served and left alone. The only criticism I have is that I think their tea is overpriced. You will pay $17 for the same amount you can get somewhere else for $11-12. But they brew it in a way to remove a lot of the alkaloid flavoring and make it less harsh. That being said, their kava is probably the best in town, and it's competitively priced.
