Pasta is overpriced, nice atmosphere, good service

Last night we were in search of a place that had electricity, AC and food after hurricane Irma. We were happy to see that Piola was open and sat at the bar. There was a sign that read "2x1 food at the bar everyday after 7pm" so we ordered 2 appetizers and 2 pizzas' along with wine/beer. When we got the bill we noticed that we were charged full price for the entire meal. When asking the bartender why the discount was not given he replied that they're not offering the deal because of the hurricane. After we questioned why they would not honor the discount the bartender said he would talk to his manager -The manager ended up applying the discount to the pizzas but not to the appetizers. I am completely surprised Piola would do this during a time like this when many of us have had no electricity or AC for days. My husband and I love the food there and go often , but doing this to people during a time of need definitely rubbed me the wrong way and I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

The Miami Avenue location has great views of the Brickell neighborhood and comfortable outdoor seating. We went for the monthly gnocchi special, served every 29th of the month. Servers bring all-you-can-eat homemade gnocchi with various rich sauces. You get a little taste of each kind, which is much better than getting a whole plate and filling up on just one variety. You know one of those days you only want to get some beer and some pizza, so you end up in a restaurant wannabe like Piola thinking what can possibly go wrong. Well, you would think. First, we couldn't get two cold beers because we all know how hard is to get that right. We ordered some meatballs as appetizer, which took forever, and then two pizzas which we got two minutes right after the appetizer. One of the pizzas was missing the prosciutto. I had previously asked for the prosciutto to be cooked because I'm pregnant. The server took back the pizza and return it burned ten minutes later. We complained about everything hoping to get a well deserved compensation but got an apology from our server instead. No manager ever showed up to try to make it up to us. Who we thought was the manager (skinny lady with dark hair) was too busy standing at the front of the restaurant, talking and laughing while checking her phone several times. So if you ask me I would never set foot on that place again, not even by mistake. read more

My husband and I placed a to go order. We were told it would be 15 minutes or so before it was ready. After 30 minutes the bartender told us the ticket was "lost" and promised the order would be ready in 5 minutes. It took another 20 minutes for the pizza to be done. We waited almost an hour for 2 pizzas and no manager came to apologize and no discount was given. That is absolutely terrible customer service. read more

I have been a recurring costumer. I loved to assist to the ñoqui buffet every 29 of the month. Today I had the worst experience as a costumer. I invited my entire family to dinner we were 11 customers. Our waitress seemed upset to serve us from the beginning, it took 30 minutes to finally order. Whenever we asked her for drinks or bread she handled them to us with a bad attitude. It took another 30 minutes to get the check and she blamed his manager for the delay. BE AWARE THEY WILL CHARGE YOU WHATEVER THEY WANT AS A TIP AND THEY WILL NOT DISCLOSE THE PERCENTAGE OF THE AMOUNT CHARGED. BY LAW THIS IS NOT ALLOWED! After we paid the waitress throw our change on the table next to my little daughter who was sleeping on my lap tire of waiting! We paid her $25 As tip and she got upset because we refuse to pay the $35 they charge us without our consent. AGAIN, IT IS ILEGAL TO IMPOSE TIPS TO CUSTOMERS. If you want a good tip then earn it! Be attentive, nice, and respectful! To not throw the check to the table like we are obligare to tip you for doing such a bad service! Do not recommend this place anymore. The "end-less gnocchi" on the 29th is a joke at this place. We thought it would be the standard order a plate at a time until you're done set-up. Silly us. The way it actually works here is you wait for a guy to bring out a single plate of gnocchi from the kitchen and walk around to everyone in the restaurant giving them each a pre-allocated single spoon-full of gnocchi. You don't even get to choose which kind of sauce you'd like. Instead, they have a series of 6 pre-made sauces that rotate and if you don't like it, you just have to wait another 15 minutes for your next spoon of gnocchi. After 45 minutes and barely having eaten anything, we requested the remaining few pieces of gnocchi at the end of one round. The server mumbled something about having to 'check and see' and walked away. We looked over at the kitchen in disbelief and saw the server eating the rest of the gnocchi himself, straight from the serving plate! $15/person and 1.5 Hr waiting time...NOT worth it!! read more

This was one of the best meals of my life! The 29th of every month is all you can eat gnocchi. Amazing! Every ten minutes they came by with gnocchi in different sauces: red, vodka wine, mushroom, pesto, 4 cheese (more was on the way but I literally couldn't eat another bite) I'm Italian and therefore very discriminating with my native food. This was a dining experience I will not soon forget. If you're ever in the area on the 29th of a month, visit this place. Truly excellent. read more

In the last month, we've dined at the Piola on Alton Road and the one on South Miami Avenue in Brickell. It's my new go-to place for pizza...if I can ever pull myself away from ordering a pizza, I'll try other menu items, as they seem to get good reviews, too. The staff at both restaurants is well-trained, cheerful and helpful. The pizza is absolutely fabulous! The ingredients and toppings taste absolutely fresh, the pepperoni has the appropriate zing! Transplanted New Yorkers living in Coconut Grove, we've been searching for a terrific, accessible pizza place since we moved down here! We're delighted to find it in Brickell, so close to home. this is THE best pizza place. When you get used to it, you stop liking any other place. I go to the one in Brickell often, since I work in the area, and anything they serve is amazing. I came here to eat around midnight on Sunday. The restaurant was fairly empty and we were pretty hungry. We were sat down and then we had an issue where no server had even acknowledged us for about 5 min. We flagged down an employee and had just asked them in a nice manner to have our server pass by so we can get water and place the order. I guess the person we flagged down was the manager or owner. A very nice female employee. She was extremely apologetic and without us even asking offered a free appetizer and apologized for the lack of service as it is not her expectation. We declined the offer but she instead so we had the bruschetta (the best around). We then ordered our pizza. When we finished eating and we needed to pay the server advised the manager/ owner said she would comp the whole meal because of the lack of service. We were in shock. Actually felt a little bad about that since we didn't ask for that. That type of service and expectations is what will now make me a loyal customer and the first place to go for pizza in Brickell. I've had many girls' nights at Piola, a handful of business meetings, a few family dinners, and evenings filled with good pizza and wine with friends. Piola is that cute neighborhood pizza place you're probably always in the mood for and an easy, go-to suggestion when you can't decide where else you want to go for dinner. It's just classy enough that you don't feel guilty suggesting it for a night out, but just casual enough that you'll enjoy it no matter what type of mood you're in. Sidewalk seating makes for perfect people watching that's almost as good as the extensive pizza menu itself. I suppose there are other things on the menu, and I've heard they are all excellent, but I'm just not entirely sure how you could go for anything other than pizza and wine. Tell me truthfully, can you think of a more perfect meal than fresh-from-the-oven, thin crust pizza with a little bit of brie and arugula, or topped off with prosciutto crudo and sundried tomatoes? Ate here last night; both the food and the service were AWFUL. We were a group of about six people, all adults and one child. To start off, we ordered two, simple arugula salads. After waiting literally 25 minutes, our waiter comes out and tells us the food is coming, in this stupid, fake Italian accent. We waited five more minutes and he brings out two cold pizzas, the Parma (eggplant) and a pepperoni pizza. The eggplant on the parma was undercooked so it was inedible and the pepperoni pizza literally had NINE FREAKING PEPPERONIS. Like are you kidding me??! I can get my money's worth at a dominos for $8 and get 20 pepperonis, but at Piola, you spend $15 for cold bread and limited toppings. Utterly ridiculous. To top it off, our salads NEVER came out. When asked if they were coming, the waiter used his catchphrase "it's coming!" So we cancelled the salads, which I am sure would have been awful. Second, our drinks were NEVER refilled, even after asking they guy three times. I mean, the waiter wasn't even apologetic, just purely rude and short. We tried to be patient and understanding, but when met with an attitude like the one I received after this terrible experience warrants a scathing review like this. I hope the manager at Piola recognizes the mistake she made hiring this staff. For a $90 bill and the awful service/food, this place should be out of business. read more

was a great moment...after along walking on brickell ave,i exhausted and with the mood to get and easy and great food,when a beautiful woman call Claudia invite me to go in,is the hostess i believe great smile and attitude...i was sitting and then i was attended by my server Caio a Brazilian guy very polite and nice too he explain me very well the menu and let my choice was more easy to make...caprichossa pizza delicious indeed a glass of chiantti alfeiro.....the end of night with a nera gelato a delicious cake with vanilla ice cream fair by price.....
