ViceVersa has been on my list for months and I finally got the chance to pop in for dinner, and it totally still lives up to the hype! The space is small but extremely well decorated with a great bar and good music. Definitely somewhere I'd come back to for a drink or date night. The food was amazing, the pizza was so fresh and the crust is perfectly airy. However my favorite part of the meal were the cocktails. I will be dreaming of the orange wine highball for days. ViceVersa is such a gem in Downtown Miami. It's a small spot with dim lighting, a DJ, and a really cool vibe. I walked in during happy hour and sat at the bar. There's no tequila on the happy hour menu, and the overall menu, especially the food menu, is pretty limited. I tried the Caesar salad and it had way too much dressing. The flavor was super overpowering and honestly tasted a bit too heavy on the vinegar side, almost sour. Not my favorite. I also got the spicy honey pizza and that was the total opposite. I went to vice versa during Negroni week as I love Negronis and they had a few new creations for Negroni week. Despite it being a Saturday night I was able to get a seat at the bar immediately. The bar seating was fairly comfortable and the entire place was dark but had some mood lighting from candles/small lights all around the bar. The bartenders were busy but they gave me a menu and took my order soon after I got seated. The three Negronis I tried were super good. One was more citrusy and the other was a classic Negroni. My favorite Negroni was the fruity Negroni that was a new creation for Negroni week. I wish I tried the other Negronis they had available considering how good the three I had were but I'll definitely be back. We visited on a Friday night and i loved the vibe of this bar. Smooth, sexy, delicious. It is attached to a hotel. I immediately sat at the bar. The bartender was knowledgeable about the drink menu. I dont usually drink, but decided to indulge today. I had a drink that was basically an espresso martini served over pistachio gelato. I think it was the best cocktail i ever had! I then had the burrata that was fresh and delicious, a good size, and served with some cherry tomatoes and basil. I would skip the oysters because they tasted fishy, it needed horse radish to mask the fishiness (maybe consider adding a spicy sauce?). And finally the pizza: delicious! it came out so quick. we had the pepperoni. the dough was flavorful ,it was covered in pepps, and had a hot honey sauce to add to the flavor. My biggest problem is i was expecting them to have the burger and the tiramisu but they werent serving both that evening. I didnt know it was only on certain occassions. It's not that big a space but they have a bar and a few tables. We checked in with the hostess and were advised there was a slight wait. As someone who's lactose intolerant, my options felt a little limited, which made it hard to fully indulge. The leek salad seemed plain on text but it was so full of flavor! we got the popular hot honey pepperoni pizza which was exactly how it sounded, BUT for my particular taste it was way too much pepperoni not enough sweet honey. I noted that it was a shared a birthday when I made the reservation, and my friend & I were treated with a yummy and creative gelato with what tasted like a sea salt base and notes of coffee and limoncello. Of course, it was topped with a candle. As far as savory, we enjoyed their pork meatballs with shredded parm & a nice helping of marinara (very juicy & you can still see the grill marks), their spicy pepperoni with a plenty of pepperoni slices and the hot & spicy balance of sweet chili and even my friend's wagyu carpaccio. My colleague took me here on a Tuesday, right after work hours, so we got here as soon as they opened. He has been here previously, so he knew what was good and knew what to order right away. We sat at the bar so as to be served quicker and to be more considerate of those looking for a table. Our server/bartender attended to us quickly and got us our drinks with no delay. We ended up ordering the Wagyu Carpaccio, the Caesar Salad, and the Spicy Pepperoni Pizza. All of these dishes were amazing! I would like to note that I am no longer a young man, so consuming all the dairy from what we ordered, I knew that I was going to suffer on my drive back home to Orlando. I was pleasantly surprised and am very pleased to report that my lactose intolerance did not affect me at all! Don't get me wrong, I was full from eating all the amazing food, but I was only full...not bloated, not gassy, and certainly not feeling bad in any way! It must be because they use good quality and properly aged cheese...I don't know...but what I do know is that I'll be coming back here again, because I was impressed! We made it an early bird special because we had tickets to Cirque du Soleil across the street at the arena and wanted to time to enjoy dinner before the show. The interior is very cozy and inviting! We loved the vibe! There were three of us and we ordered a mini martini (friend only wanted 1/2 alcohol), a specialty margarita and a vodka soda with bergamot. The drinks were strong enough and well mixed. I found the drinks menu a little confusing (they had the drinks in list format and then also in an descriptive format, very odd). For food, we had the fennel salad, the caesar salad, the pepperoni pizza and the margarita pizza. The food was SO SO GOOD! Fantastic! It exceeded expectations! I was especially impressed with the caesar salad! Also, the pizza crust was sheer perfection! I am dinging them one star b/c the acoustics were horrible and the music, while a fantastic throwback to 90's and 00's hip hop and pop, was too loud. I opted for a margarita and an order of focaccia for the group. The focaccia is served with marinara and it was really good. We decided to share an order of meatballs and pizza. The meatballs were delicious, it comes three to an order. For the pizza we ordered the pizza with mortadella and pistachio pesto. The pizza was so good, it was full of flavor and everything was really well balanced. I'd definitely go back and order this pizza again or try another one as I'm sure it'll be just as good. Unfortunately they were out of tiramisu so we went with the hazelnut ice cream. I didn't notice it came with olive oil until I looked back at my picture. What a gem on Biscayne! Its a small space but packs a big punch. The apps are all flavor bombs and the steak tartare is one of the best I've ever had and I've eaten over a hundred different ones. Super tender and flavorful beef with just the right amount of richness, tartness and savory-ness a top a perfectly toasted slice of thick bread. Haven't had a Neapolitan style pizza this good in a while and I daresay it rivals the World Pizza Cup champ Tony Gemignani. The simple Margarita pizza is a study in restraint. Just a few super high quality ingredients makes this an elevated classic. The thin dough is the right mix of crusty, smoky and chewy. Save room for dessert! The house made gelato is rich and creamy and if that's not enough it's topped with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and flaky salt. Just divine. The Tiramisu is also excellent. Update: Still Awesome! Came out on Monday with one mission: The Burger. Pulled up without a reservation, and had to wait a bit to get a seat at the bar. I spoke a bit with a gentleman at the front, who assured me I'd be seated as soon as possible. I let him know that I was specifically here for the burger, and said he'd go check to make sure they hadn't run out, which I appreciated. After a bit he came back to say there were a few left, to my relief. I waited about 30 minutes and was called for my seat at the bar. As I was walking in, the gentleman who checked up on the burgers for me was waiting, and I introduced myself to him after recognizing him online and looked him up. Turns out he is the Man behind the joint. He showed me where to sit and told me the burgers had ran out while I waited, but he had asked the chef to set one aside for me, which was awesome - couldn't believe it and very grateful for the gesture. Went right in with the Negroni (Mito), which in my opinion is very well made and I do drink these a lot. After a bit, the burger finally came and it was SO WORTH THE WAIT. Amazingly delicious. Highly recommend you get you one if you're on a connoisseur tip with burgers. Afterward, I had myself another Negroni and topped off with a Pistachio gelato with an Amaro chaser, as recommended by a bartender. Excellent rec, def something I'd like to try at home! I had heard good things about ViceVersa and the delicious off-menu burger they only serve on Mondays. I rarely go out for dinner on Monday nights, but that burger was tempting so made a reservation to finally sample it. The restaurant itself is small with a dark ambiance which I enjoyed. Once seated, we were quickly greeted and the server took our drinks order. We settled for the muled spicy margarita and the Orange Wine Highball. The margarita was smooth and aromatic. The Orange High Ball, which is kind of a mezcal aperol sprits, was refreshing. I give the cocktails a 4.5 out of 5. For the appetizer, we went for the tuna tartare. It was served deconstructed as opposed to how it is served in most places, round-shaped like a cake. I like their approach. In addition to that, the flavors were spot on, fresh and with a nice spiciness to it. My only complain here is that it was served by itself, with no bread or something similar. It was missing the crunchy element. If it had bread or something similar, I would have given it a solid 5, but without it, it comes down with 4 out 5. For the main course, we had the well-awaited burger and the spicy pepperoni pizza. The burger tasted so good, there was so much flavor in a single bite, but unfortunately it was well done, like really well done. It's good to add that the sever didn't ask how I would like my patty cooked when taking the order. If it wouldn't be overcooked, it would be a 5-stars burger. As for the pizza, I was not impressed. It looked good but it became soggy quick, perhaps because they add too much hot honey. You can't eat the pizza with your hands because it folds and becomes super messy, it's like eating a crepe with your hands. It's not as easier with the utensils either as the dough is too chewy. My spicy pepperoni pizza with the hot honey reminded me of a similar pizza Miami Slice has, but the latter being much better, with stronger structure, keeping its crispiness for much longer. All in all, I was really excited about Viceversa but it didn't live it up to the hype or the fact they just made it to the Michelin guide recommended list. I loved Jaguar Sun & Sunny's is one of my go-to's so how in the world could ViceVersa fail me so terribly?!? Perhaps it as because it was during WMC on Ultra weekend when my boyfriend and I arrived early for our Friday night dinner reservation. The vibe in the hotel lobby in which the restaurant is located was upbeat and full of out of towners. Once you stepped into ViceVersa, you got a sense of the much missed Jaguar Sun vibe. The hostess was lovely with a beaming smile & although we were close to 30min early, she sat us immediately. Sadly, our waiter was not nearly as lively & seemed to grow more & more apathetic as the night wore on. We looked over the cocktail menu & ordered what tickled our fancies & since we weren't terribly hungry, decided to start with some crudos: -KAMPACHI WITH CHERRY BOMB RELISH: literally inedible... why anyone would decide to shovel heaps of what can best be described ad tasting like Tostito's jarred salsa all over some beautiful white raw fish is beyond me. You barely knew the fish was there are you struggled to taste anything other than the overwhelmingly strong tomato/onion/pepper taste from the "relish". Will NEVER order this abomination again. When our waiter returned, I told him we were done & without blinking an eye, he took the almost completely untouched plate back & did not even bother to ask what was wrong of if they could do anything to make up for it. This guy literally has ZERO training. -BLUE FIN TUNA TARTARE WITH CALABRIAN CHILI VINAIGRETTE: slightly better than the last but again, the beautiful, ruby red cubes of tuna were absolutely drowning in what tasted more like a soy-onion umami bomb glaze. Inedible as well & was sent back with only 2 tiny tastes. Again, the waiter said nothing & apparently could not care less that we had now sent back 2 dishes barely touched. We kept our fingers crossed for the 3rd (& last because we were OVER IT) -SCALLOP WITH TOMATO WATER & CELERY LEAF: looked beautiful & by FAR my favourite of the 3 (although that's not saying much). The quality & delicate taste of the scallop was actually detectable on this one! hooray! As if the disappointment in the food wasn't enough, when I asked for a dry & dirty gin martini, the waiter looked at me like I had 3 heads. "Dry AND dirty?!?" He asked with a puzzled look on his face... "Correct", I said. "Light on the vermouth & add olive brine & olives". He seemed to want to tell me I was wrong but took off for the bar anyways. A little while later, he brought back the martini & a small, porcelain ramekin filled with ice & 3 olives with a toothpick on the side. Is this meant to be funny or was he just playing a practical joke on me for the heck of it? As I imagined they would, the moment I tried to pierce an olive with the pick, it went flying one way while the crushed ice flew the other. We ended up grabbing the olives with our fingers to impale and pop in our drinks. Why they decided to make this a DIY activity, I'll never know but it was a super annoying way to end the meal. Between the lackluster service from the waiter who seemed like he wanted to be anywhere else but there, to the over priced & underwhelming crudos & the basic drinks, I am SHOCKED at how little we enjoyed ourselves not to mention how expensive it was... The fact that they did not even MENTION removing the 2 dishes we didn't eat was crazy to me. Terribly apathetic service. Maybe it was an off day but unless something extraordinary happens, I don't see myself coming back anytime soon. read more

I was a BIG fan of Jaguar Sun and was devasted when they closed. However, when I heard about ViceVersa being from the team behind Jaguar Sun, I was SO excited to give it a try! I went on a saturday night with my husband and was able to secure a resy 2 days in advance. The place in general reminded me so much of Jaguar. Same vibes: tiny place, great (and kinda loud) music, dim lights, cool decor. First impressions were the best possible! I had an espresso martini that was a 8/10 in my opinion. It was good, but Ive had better ones. My husband had the Italian beer and loved it. For food we ordered the Wagyu Carpaccio that was SURPRISINGLY good - very tasty and creamy. And the margherita pizza that is a very well executed neapolitan style pizza. Service was also great so nothing really disappointed. Experience was 10/10 and I will definitely go back to try the other pizza flavours! read more
