Pins is the new "it" hangout spot in South Side. It is a huge arcade/ game bar. They have two floors and three bars so you really never have to wait long for a drink! They have cute cocktails and a big draft list. I didn't see any wine on their menu tho. The cocktails were $12 which I thought was a little pricey because they were so small but they made them pretty strong so it makes up for the price. The place is super clean and trendy. They have giant TVs too so it's a great place to watch a game. There is also a cute patio on both floors with fire pits. My only complaint about the place is they don't have any food. I feel like if they had some bar food/snacks it would be a big hit but maybe they are worries food will dirty the machines and games? read more

Pins Mechanical is superior to Coop DeVille and Pins and Pints. Do they serve food? No. You can bring your own! And since there's no kitchen, it's also dog friendly! Games are cheaper. Two floors of duck-pin bowling, vintage pinball & arcade games, ping-pong, a giant Lite-Brite the size of a full wall & even old school console gaming await you at Pins Mechanical! The layout is superb, with bars strategically placed throughout. They do all the small touches right. From neon bathroom signs that evoke classic rock lyrics, to wall murals rife with sublte double entrende. And they do all the big things right as well. We arrived soon after they opened. The joint is a tad overwhelming, and the floor staff noticed that fact written on our faces. A wonderful woman came up to us and took it upon herself to explain the layout and features of the venue. She then implored us to have fun. What a nice touch from a team that is obviously attuned to great service and ensuring their guests have the best experience possible! But this isn't my fave thing about Pins Mechanical. FULL DISCLOSURE: Before we spent Sunday afternoon there, we showed up the night before. The place was packed with Millennials & older Gen Z-ers with music blaring & a line to get in. I don't like a mob of people & also dislike being the only 40-something in a nightlife location. We left before we even entered, and my wife (bless her heart) was understanding. So we returned the next afternoon and it was a totally different vibe. The population of guests was much more sparse, lots of families and kids. We took advantage of everything the place had to offer, and I wasn't consumed with the anxiety I felt the evening prior. How many places can say they're a family activity center 'til eight PM and afterwards a nightlife destination? AND GET ALL THE TOUCHES RIGHT with BOTH incarnations! This is a very cool and fun new place that just opened at South Side Works. Pins Mechanical / 16 Bit Arcade is located in the building that used to house the Irish restaurant, Claddagh, and South Side Works Theater (although it doesn't use the same entrance as the old theater), and is located on two levels. This concept has many entertaining things to do, such as Pinball, Bocce, Ping Pong, Jenga, Skee-Ball, Duck Pin Bowling, Foosball, Arcade Games, Ring Toss (Hookie), a giant Lite-Brite, and more. There are no food options available here, but there are bars on both levels of the building that offer beer and cocktails (and I heard you can bring your own food if you want). There are different costs associated with the various activities that you can do, and some of the things have no cost at all (a lot of the arcade games were set to free play). We had a good time playing here on a nice warm Autumn afternoon, they had the doors open, and there were patios with fire pits and chairs to hang out. Surprisingly they also allow dogs inside (which is convenient for the people using the dog park right outside the building). I look forward to coming back and visiting again . . . Cheers! read more

This is my new favorite place to hangout with friends in Pittsburgh! There something here for everyone at a very affordable price including duck pin bowling, pinball machines, arcade games, patio pong, and more! You can put your name down for the games and they'll text you once it's your turn to play. We went on a Saturday afternoon and did not have to wait at all for patio pong and our lane for duck pin bowling was ready right after we finished with pong! Drinks here are also really yummy, I've tried the carrie fisher, hell or hibiscus, and the game over and loved them all. The hell or hibiscus drink is definitely my favorite though. I went here on a first date. It was the worst first date of my life. However, I didn't run screaming because I was incredibly interested in the games they offered. Turns out, I am fantastic at duck pin bowling. My date wasn't, and he made sure to be a baby about it, but it was a lot more fun than I would have thought. The other games were great too, skee-ball and the arcade games particularly were a great distraction from the horrible person I was with. The drinks are a bit pricey, but if you consider the experience, they're totally worth it. When the bartender heard me discussing this terrible date in the bathroom, she made sure I was ok. I was confused. I thought the games were free but they were not. Some games were free? I guess we were all confused. The echto drink was not worth it, I think the bar tender missed an ingredient as it just tasted like koolaid. I really, really wanted to love it :-(. A lot of things just didn't work, wireless remotes. Am I missing something??? I did want to like it. It was still very nice. I think it has an audience, I'm just not sure it's for adults or kids. You can tell they spent a lot of money on making it look good, I just don't think they trained the staff to be into it which made me also not into it. The slide was fun! Went here for a fun night out with friends. My cocktail was delicious- pinball wizard- but a lil high for the amount you get. They have a ton of games to play- duck pin bowling, bocce, arcade games, giant jenga. We wanted to play both bocce and duck pin bowling. There was not anyone playing bocce- but they said we will be able to play an hour later- they put us on the waitlist for bowling instead. Which means by the time we were done playing bowling we had to wait for bocce and only play 30 mins. The prices were reasonable. You can bring your dog and kids are welcome. My sons wedding was at the Hyatt Terrace, my husband tried to get in but the bouncer was very confrontational and wouldn't let him in , meanwhile he is 62 years old with gray hair , didn't have his ID , wanted to fight and call police, meanwhile my husband is a retired police officer. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. They have the most inadequate bouncers to exist. My friend who was cold was holding onto another friend for warmth walking up to the entrance. The bouncer instantly said he made a "judgement call" that my friend was too drunk to come in. Meanwhile she had two drinks max before hand. We asked to speak to a manager about it and was told this was the manager and that his judgment call was the end all be all. My friend was cold, she was walking with her friend. It was her birthday. Even with kids running around before 8pm, there is plenty of space and free or reasonably priced games--do be warned that there will be some games out of order. The drink menu is creative and tasty.
