the face of a man in a suit

It says closes at 2am. I walked in at 1:15 to play a single game of pool by myself. I went in and the guy working the counter could not have been more of an ass. First, he yelled at me when I looked around to try to find someone who worked there (no one was in sight). Then he said "i mean its just pointless and ridiculous. You'll have 15 minutes and we will charge you double." First off, TERRIBLE business operations lol. He might as well have said "we dont want to make money." If youre open until 2am, be open until 2am. I had had a pretty rough day and just wanted 20 minutes of tranquility - playing pool against myself. But oh, dont let me be an inconvenience to you - the person working the counter at an establishment that is clearly open. I mean what is this? Its so simple. If you advertise that you are open until 2, then serve customers until then. He could have easily said "just so you know we close the tables at 130 or 145" and i would have gladly been outta there by then. But simply, he was an old man who probably was sad about his life and instead of addressing it for himself, he works there and hates his life and is an asshole to young people who are trying to play a game of pool. Will never be back there (even though its the closest pool hall to me, and i play pool almost every day). I will also actively advise every person I know to never go there because the workers are literal ASSHOLES. what happened to hospitality? Or at least, what happened to good business? Kind of a shame, but hey, there are plenty of places to play pool with workers much more pleasant. "Yinz" suck at running an establishment! :)

This place is everything you could want in a pool hall. The staff was friendly and prices were reasonable per hour

I've been to Breakers quite a few times and I have never had a bad experience. It has a welcoming environment, which can be hard to find. It is rare that you can walk into a location where people of all colors and ethnicities feel comfortable hanging out in close proximity to one another. Some bars tend to develop a particular crowd where others may not feel welcome - not Breakers. They have a lot of pool tables at a decent price. You wont break the bank by playing here.

It's a shame but that's the only dartboard in such a huge place

And like I said, I rarely have gotten to this particular neighborhood, I have only been a handful of time and mostly it was just to pass through. Slick's is that kind of dive bar that you have to be told about by someone that frequents. It is not just a place that you walk into while out on a nightly stroll. It is one that has to invite you in with that dim glow of the interior lights and the neon for whatever beer company logo hangs about. Once inside you get to decide whether or not you want to sit at the bar or a high top table. We sidled up to the bar and went about ordering. The bartender is great, she is a peach to talk to and was able to produce whatever drink we asked for. This is a true bar atmosphere as you talk over the noise from the pool table, television, and the slow hum of traffic passing by outside. Everything about this bar is Pittsburgh. All teams are supported within and there is no shortage of memorabilia hanging on the walls. Feeling peckish? Move yourself over to the high top tables. Order your food from Fiori's next door and you are more than welcome to bring that in here and eat away. We noshed and drank the rest of the night away here. Being able to cap off a great night in the city.

Not to mention, they offer semi-strong long islands for $4 all day, It's sort of a premixed concoction that's just okay in my opinion. Nothing to rave about...but enough to lure you in for price and continue to get you in for more libation. lol Lefty's is a nice and fun hangout spot for friends for sure.and a great way to get into the mix of Pittsburgh natives (people from the surrounding area). The bar is a pretty narrow space and gets packed pretty quickly, but it is a great space to watch sports and chat with people. There is not a lot of seating space as the space is relatively small, but it is still comfortable while standing. Although crowded, the bartenders are quick and efficient with drink orders. If only they sold food, this spot would be perfect. However, there are several shops and restaurants along the strip to grab a bite to eat. In all, cool little dive bar in the heart of the Strip District of Pittsburgh. Also a great vibe and place to meet up with friends for a few drinks or a pit stop while site seeing the downtown area. Stop by, get in and fit into the vibe of this place. It's fun and good times.

The food is greasy and basic bar food. There is a decent selection of beer on tap. The place is dark with loud music but no soul. Frankly it was depressing. Because after that response and nothing else was said by the after that. we just ordered water, Pepsi and lemonades for the kids. From the time we ordered our food to the time we got it was an hour and 30 mins. When we got the food, it was mediocre. The patties were very thin( not a smash burger) no flavor. The burger itself self ranged from $8-10. It does not come with sides as it's separate. We got loaded fries, and it barely any cheese, and pieces of bacon. Oh and not to mention the family behind us got there 15 mins after us and hit their food first. The bathrooms are up stairs. It's dirty, dingy and dark.

They're located in Dormont, which makes this a walkable brewery for me (thanks to having friends and family in the area!). A friend and I did indeed walk over to catch up on a recent Friday. The place was surprisingly quiet - my friend mentioned that they get VERY busy during the summer, when people attend events across the road and want to buy beer to go with their market and/or food truck purchases. Speaking of food trucks, Hibachi Lou was parked out front on this particular Friday. So my friend and I got our hibachi orders at the truck out front; ordered our beer and/or cider from the bar; and took everything to a table in Back Alley's dining area to enjoy. While the place wasn't packed it wasn't empty, either; families and groups of friends were playing board games at every other table or so. So, what did I think about the drinks? I'm really glad Back Alley had Arsenal Cider on tap - I ordered a glass as my "sweet treat"/dessert after dinner. First though, I decided to try a beer. Back Alley, if you see this: I'm a BIG fan of sour beers and would order those if they're on the menu in the future! As of now though, no sour beers, so I ordered a "Snowed In" - Back Alley's spiced winter ale. It was a dark beer with a blend of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, hence the "spiced" moniker. While not something I normally seek out, I really enjoyed it and am glad I tried it! Altogether, it was a 10/10 experience - I'm so glad my friend and I came here for our Friday together. I'll be back!
