The best place for 9ft tables in Pittsburgh. (If there are others, please let me know.) The ambiance is fine. Tables are a bit close when the place is crowded. Table surfaces should be cleaned and some replaced, especially in the back. read more

It says closes at 2am. I walked in at 1:15 to play a single game of pool by myself. I went in and the guy working the counter could not have been more of an ass. First, he yelled at me when I looked around to try to find someone who worked there (no one was in sight). Then he said "i mean its just pointless and ridiculous. You'll have 15 minutes and we will charge you double." First off, TERRIBLE business operations lol. He might as well have said "we dont want to make money." If youre open until 2am, be open until 2am. I had had a pretty rough day and just wanted 20 minutes of tranquility - playing pool against myself. But oh, dont let me be an inconvenience to you - the person working the counter at an establishment that is clearly open. I mean what is this? Its so simple. If you advertise that you are open until 2, then serve customers until then. He could have easily said "just so you know we close the tables at 130 or 145" and i would have gladly been outta there by then. But simply, he was an old man who probably was sad about his life and instead of addressing it for himself, he works there and hates his life and is an asshole to young people who are trying to play a game of pool. Will never be back there (even though its the closest pool hall to me, and i play pool almost every day). I will also actively advise every person I know to never go there because the workers are literal ASSHOLES. what happened to hospitality? Or at least, what happened to good business? I've been to Breakers quite a few times and I have never had a bad experience. It has a welcoming environment, which can be hard to find. It is rare that you can walk into a location where people of all colors and ethnicities feel comfortable hanging out in close proximity to one another. Some bars tend to develop a particular crowd where others may not feel welcome - not Breakers. They have a lot of pool tables at a decent price. You wont break the bank by playing here. read more

Wanted to enjoy it here, but the trashy bartender ruined any hope of that. Also what's the point in wearing a mask if you're going to take it off to rudely express your anger at our group ordering fries? I think you mean to take it out on Tom Wolf, not the customers -we don't want to have to order food, it's a requirement. Not our fault fries (that we now know take FIFTEEN MINUTES to cook after you yelled that at us) are one of the menu items. Curious how someone making tips is this rude and still can pay their bills. The owners should assess the Friday night bartenders attitude before letting her let people walk out of the establishment. When the bartender retreated to the back (after yelling at us) the other customers in the bar actually said hearing her be so rude to us made them feel better because she was just as rude to them! Overall very bizarre experience with this girl and her rollercoaster attitude problem. There's 2 million rules with covid -pardon someone asking a question. Do you want patrons or not?? Since moving to dormont, I've been here few times for darts and drinks. This place is divided into a bar (in the front) and a huge pool hall at the back along with a single dart board (manual) which is the only reason we come here every once in a while. Although you're not allowed to smoke in the pool hall - the hall reeks of cigarette smoke residue. So, do be prepared to take a shower and do the laundry as soon as you get home. Besides, that - I think it's a pretty cool hang out place if you're into pool. The people here are friendly, the service has been good so far and the prices for the drinks are super reasonable. read more

I've been to this pool hall 5 or 6 times, after today I won't be going back. The hall and tables are nice and well kept. Up until my last visit my only problem was that I had to wait a long time when I was finished because the attendant was in the bar, and had to wait 10 or 15 minutes before leaving so I could pay for the time on the table, and get my drvers license back, which I had to leave with them while using the table. The reason I will not be returning after this visit is, I played a couple games, went to return the balls and pay, being in bit of a hurry to leave I forgot to ask for my license back, which was partly my own fault, but also the job of the attendant to give it back to me after the game. That in itself is not the reason I won't be returning, but what happened after. I was about 15 minute drive away before I realized I didn't have my license. When I saw it wasn't there I knew there's was a possibility I left it at the pool hall, but wasn't sure, and thought maybe I had dropped it. I called and told the attendant I didn't have it and asked if he could check if it was there, he said, I felt in a somewhat rude way, if I left it, I could come back and it would be there. It only takes a few seconds for him to check and confirm it was there, but after saying this he hung up on me. I called again and asked if he could look, he said he was too busy to look for it, that I had to drive back there to find out (15 minute drive, 30 minutes round trip). He hung up on me again after the second phone call. I did go back, and when I got there he was not busy at all, just sitting back in his chair. My license was there I received it and left. Obviously I did need to drive back anyway, but I felt the attendant was very rude and inconsiderate. So between this incident, and my experience with another attendant, having to wait 10, 15, one time maybe 20 minutes for him to leave the bar and let me check out, I'm not going back, and don't recommend this place. It's a nice hall, but management is bad in my opinion. read more

Cool pool hall. The front is a small neighborhood bar type of place that has good beer prices and almost everything seemed to be on special the night we were there. The pool hall in the back was much bigger than I expected it to be. There were a lot of tables and plenty of room. If you see the €20 note hanging up on the wall that was from a friend of mine that donated it during our trip to Pittsburgh. read more

Don't waste your time. Rude, unhelpful, refused service. I don't think I've ever written a review and download yelp just to let people know how bad this was. Understandably covid has sucked and made lives difficult. So when a group of 5 working adults finally get a night out to enjoy each other's company no work or kids we just wanted a drink and to relax. We called ahead to clarify the rules for covid and if there were tables available. 3 of us get there we are met with a rude i only have one table left. Ok great we only need 1 table and my friends like i just called and this girl acted like we had 3 heads and didn't know what we were talking about. We were clarifying the covid rules that we could get a 6 pack and shoot pool after 11. It was 10:30 so we were like ok we will grab a drink at the bar upfront then shoot pool at 11. She refused to get us a drink at the bar apparently multitasking of answering a question and serving fries is complicated. We had just ate so due to the covid rules we were trying to figure out if we could share or each had to order a food item. We order fries and ive never seen someone get so angry over fries. She yells they take 15 minutes. We go ok knowing we have 30 min to kill. She pulls her mask down to scream at this point i said they take 15 minutes! And walks away to the back. At this point we are just confused and like she is having a rough night. She comes back and my friend asks for a drink and a question. Group says leave her alone she clearly doesn't want to talk to you just wait for her. Other friend who is in the service industry asks a question with the response being i don't like your attitude the bar is closed and walks back to the pool room in a huff. Again dazed and confused we look to the table next to us and go were we rude in any way? They go nope! And then said honestly we are relived that it wasn't just us as she was rude and short with them all night too. I'm sorry but if your job is to serve people lose the attitude. It's not like we were 21 year olds running in drunk and screaming. Just wanted a drink and relaxing fun night. Clearly this is NOT the place for that. Find better places to spend your money I know I will. Even when all the covid rules are lifted this place will never earn my business and i will make sure to let everyone i know as well. read more

A while back we shot pool at Breakers. The area is congested and parking is a problem, and the Breakers people are not overly friendly toward outsiders. It's basically a "good ol boy" hangout, and they offer "special rates" for outsiders, we paid $65 for two hours on one table. I have the receipt, I can prove it. I went to the police, they couldn't do anything. $65 for two hours! TOTAL RIPOFF!!! This review will probably disappear in a few days, Breakers pays Yelp to remove negative reviews. I was visiting a friend in Pittsburgh and we went to Breakers to play pool. First the positive. The tables were really well trimmed and very professional. People who were using the bar seemed quite happy. Our experience in the area with the pool tables was anything but happy. As Breakers is a kind of neighborhood place, we assumed neighborhood prices. Victims of our own inattention, we ended 'racking up' (pun intended) a bill for playing a couple of games of pool that would have been appropriate in a premium pool hall in downtown Manhattan; not an out of the way neighborhood place in Pittsburgh. Larger and more prominent signage on the pricing would have avoided the shock when we paid for our games. But the fault was ours. My suggestion? If you are a pool pro and willing to seriously pay for the premium experience Breakers is your place. Otherwise, if you are an amateur like the rest of us looking to play pool with friends find a table elsewhere. read more

We went here to play pool, and they charged us "per person." Pool halls typically charge hourly "per table," so we ended up paying more than average. It's a "good ole boy hangout" : its patrons are not friendly to outsiders. The food was greasy and overpriced. We will never go back; but it's a great place to hang out with in-bred mutants. read more
